When Krista catches her boss doing the unthinkable, the only thing she can do is run. Straight into the arms of the eye-candy she’s been trying not to flirt with on her lunch break. But whose side is he on?

But pseudo-bounty hunter isn’t really what Pierce Securities is trying to get a name for. When he finds out their target is the classy lady from the park, all of his senses go on high alert. What do these men want with her?

When Krista is forced into Ryan’s sanctuary in the woods, she realizes just how wild he is, and that she doesn’t want to tame him. He may feel his methods of protection endangered her, but without Krista in his life, Ryan is crazed.

This one had so much potential.
Great mix of suspense, thriller and romance with the protective, ex-coast guard hillbilly alpha and likeable heroine. I wasn't okay with some of the choices they've made and some scenes irked me. Overall I enjoyed this book and I might be reading the next one in the series.

Except for:
When I read books with triggers like , I go off the rails. I want blood and death. It's fiction, people. I don't need a friggin' legal justice or realistic scenarios. NO!!!
I want my fictional justice to be like
description

But that's just my opinion, since I find person who does these things absolutely abhorrent. I pretty much get disappointed if MY fictional justice hasn't been served.

Oh brother, where do I start with this one?

First off, what the hell, GR reviewers? What's with all the 4 & 5 star reviews? Was this book REALLY the best or nearly the best book you've ever read? Just because you've agreed to give an honest review does not mean that you have to give a GOOD review.

Craze is about Classy Lady and Eye Candy. Seriously. That's what the MCs refer to each other as before they meet. And those terms are used, A LOT.

The H's POV seems to be spoken from his d*ck. There are so many references to it, and how it thinks and what it wants, I feel like it should have been given its own POV chapters. Though it wouldn't have made this book any better. Or more interesting.

Something was just glaringly missing. How can I describe it? The words were all there, but they had no impact. They were used and put together in such a way that made them flat and rote. It was like the author received a box of puzzle pieces, each with a different word on it, and she just threw them all out on a table, and moved them around until they sort of made sense, but the pieces didn't really fit together. And the resultant picture didn't make any sense. Then she pulled them all apart, mixed them up, and did it all over again.

There was no angst, no discernible push and pull, no unh! The sex was mundane, the dialogue was puerile, the MCs thoughts were unrealistic and boring.

Do yourself a favor - find something else to read.

Wow. Just wow. This book has some serious trigger warnings. But it was so freaking realistic. I told my husband it was like reading an episode of Criminal minds with a side of romance. I love Criminal minds BTW. Full review to come!

Up until the very last chapter of this book I wasn't particularly enjoying the book but had every intention of reading more by this author because even through the awkward writing she had the spark of something that isn't especially common in authors. I'll move chronologically so it goes from bad to worse.
I liked the plot of the book and the pacing is really good. The heroine wasn't super fascinating but she was tough enough and sassy enough for me to be cool with her. The hero was a brainless brawny dudebro and never made any attempt to be anything more. I wanted to like him because i dig protective alpha males but everytime i'd almost like him he'd do something dude broey. Ex: using terms of endearment on strangers is a pet peeve of mine if you do it it means that term has no real meaning to you so when using it on your someone special is the same as some stranger in a bar; also calling yourself a pussy every time you have some emotions doesn't make you any more masculine it makes you a pathetic dude bro. The sex scenes were so...delicious but the romance was unsatisfying. The two refused to speak with each other and it resulted in a lot of obnoxious pseudo misunderstandings that really led to there not being a relationship at all. "Oh let me kidnap you then get mad because you didn't realize i was trying to help and you ran away" " oh let me never tell you how i feel about you then get mad because you dont share the feelings i never expressed to you."
Now for the ending which has spoilers but trust me you don't want to read this anyways.
So the big romantic finale was him showing up on her doorstep after a separation, fucking her standing up, then saying OUT LOUD that since their (unprotected btw) sex didn't get her out of his head they needed to get married. WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK. And even worse IT FUCKING WORKED ON HER. ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh how does anyone think that's romantic?

5 out of 5 Sexy and Thrilling stars!! Wow!

Where do I even begin with this one? It had everything I love all wrapped up into this one book. The characters were wonderfully described and given so much depth that I certainly felt a lot of love and hate while reading about them.

Ryan was to die for. He had practically everything going for him but it still wasn't over the top or cheesy. Krista was never too whiney or weak, she was perfectly human - the balance was great! The sexy times were very well-written and nothing felt at all rushed or off with it. I was on the edge of my seat while reading this one and just kept turning the pages regardless of it being 3am. This is my first time reading anything by this author but I will definitely be grabbing her other books pronto!

DNF @ 9% - The blurb sounded very promising and intriguing! A woman on the run, falls for her protector! But what the blurb doesn't tell you is; "What Krista Actually Catches Her Boss Doing?" Sorry, I don't care how hot the sex is between the main characters but I'm not down to read crap like this. Things like this; Should come with a warning! Especially for us sensitive readers! Well at least it was at the beginning of story. Thanks for that!! Smh.

Title: Craze
Author: Anne Conley
Series or Standalone: Standalone Series (Pierce Securities #1)
Genre: Contemporary Romance, Suspense
Rating: 5 Stars *****

Review:

description

Craze is a Contemporary Romantic Suspense told in third person point of view and follows ex-coast guard (now part of the Pierce Securities firm) Ryan and the heroine, Krista, who after some pretty heavy circumstances, ends up in the lap (so to speak) of the abovementioned Security firm.
This is my first experience with an Anne Conley book, so I went in blind as to how she writes, what her flow is like or how she builds her characters. As it turns out, everything that I normally look for in a book of this nature was present here and it worked for me.
While it is eluded to in the blurb, you don’t quite know what it is Krista is about to stumble upon and when it did happen, I have to say that I was a little bit taken aback. So before moving on with this review, I just want to be sure that there’s a warning of sorts, because there is sexual abuse present within the story. Nothing heavily graphic, but enough that it could possibly upset or trigger some.
Having tackled this in a previous book that I wrote, while not entirely jumping out of my seat that it was used, understood the need for it here. It added the element of suspense and danger that I think a story about a group of guys in the protection business needs in order to work. It certainly worked here and just how deep it ran, and everything the characters ended up experiencing, kept me enthralled the entire way through.
From page one, you’re introduced to both characters as they notice each other from afar but never really give in and do anything about it. Ryan believing Krista to be too classy for him and Krista seeming to believe the guy was out of her league and content to keep him as a fantasy.
At least until she stays late at work one night, and walks in on something that will change her life forever.
Ryan appeared as an alpha type guy, but in a different way then I’m used to. He wasn’t oozing machismo and cockiness throughout the book which is prevalent in a lot of books like this. He was confident, but not nauseatingly so. I liked that he lived off the grid and that he preferred it that way. He wasn’t a big city guy, content to live as far from civilization as you can get, catching his own food and cooking it, while also being a part of a co-op for other needs in order to survive.
Krista also wasn’t your typical heroine either. Sure, there were parts of her that were soft and weak (mainly from lack of experience in Ryan’s lifestyle and the situation she finds herself in), but she was also strong willed, determined and a little saucy at times. Going after what she wanted when she’d had enough of the back and forth that carried on throughout a lot of the story. I can’t say I’ve ever been in her shoes, but I can imagine that if I was, in a lot of ways I would be like her in how she handled it. The fear, the wanting to disappear after, trying to do the right thing even though the people she was running to were in on it, it was all very real and made it easier to like her and connect.
The two of them as a couple, I liked overall. I do think that there was a little too much of “I want you, but I can’t have you. We can’t do this,” going on, but it wasn’t enough to completely put me off the story and the couple altogether. Had it gone on any longer than it did though and I probably wouldn’t be saying the same thing. As it is, I understood what Ryan was doing in saying no and I believed in his conflict of going against his boss or following the rules.
But hands down, Krista finally having enough was the best and in the end, brought the steam to the table once the two of them gave in to each other.
It wouldn’t be a proper review if I didn’t mention the guys that work with Ryan. I’m looking forward to each of them getting their own books, because honestly, they stood out in this one just as much as the main characters. I connected to a couple of them pretty much right away and it didn’t let go throughout. This is a band of men that work perfectly together, complete with comradery and fantastic instances of humor.
The way it wrapped up worked for me and I was more than a little happy that the bad guys got what was coming to them. Especially one of them. Her bosses end was absolutely perfect, even if saying that does make me sound twisted. Couldn’t have happened to a better guy.

The story flowed great, there wasn’t a bunch of nonsense things stuck in to extend the story. All of what was there had reasons to be there and all came together to make a pretty damn good read. I’m definitely a fan of the writing style.
Engaging characters, a crazy ride, a pretty cute, yet hot romantic pairing and excellent writing style. All things that make a great read and what earned this book 5 stars. I look forward to reading more from Ms. Conley in the future.

ORIGINALLY POSTED AT DJ'S BOOK CORNER

I really enjoyed Craze. I tried to find something that I didn't like about it, but couldn't really nail any one thing down. I liked the characters, I liked the sexual tension, I liked the plot and I liked the ending. Can't really deduct any stars when you like all of that, now can you?

I appreciated that there was a bit of history between our characters Krista and Ryan before the real fun begins. They'd been flirting in the park for quite a while before things got real and they ended up shacked up together in Ryan's little cabin in the woods. If there was a spark before, it flamed into a blaze at this point. Like I said the sexual tension between the two of them could have been sliced up and served as cake. Loved that and how Ryan had to fight to keep things professional even as the slow burn threatened to incinerate him. Krista didn't give a damn and was like, "Let's do this shit!" and I laughed how she reacted when she couldn't get what she wanted. So funny.

Krista was a strong female lead who exhibited all the right feelings at all the right times. When she was pissed she went off, when she was scared she screamed, and when she was happy her smile could be seen for miles. Ryan was the typical alpha male but I wouldn't call him overbearing or overprotective. He did what he thought he had to do and nothing more. Some of these alphas can be so smothering, but I didn't feel he was like that. As for the other characters, Zach was a pleasure to read about. There's a part when he is kicking some garden gnomes that was just hilarious. You have to read it to understand why I think so. As for the other guys in the security firm...we're not told a lot about them because I'm guessing the author wanted to keep the focus on Ryan and Krista, but we are graced with a few glances into what may unfold in future books. Definitely interested in Zach and the journey he's about to take. Read the book to find out what's so special about Zach, at least to me.

The plot was exactly what it should be: horrible. Not horrible as in it sucked, but horrible as in the crime was pretty terrible. Sometimes these romantic suspense novels suck as far as the suspense goes, but Craze was good. With so much romance, for a book like this to work there has to be a pretty gruesome crime. Check and check. And the way the plot was wrapped up was not rushed at all or anticlimactic which was great. I hate when books build you up only to rush through the ending. I don't know how many times I have to say this, but you can't rush the ending of a book. You just can't. Not any book, but especially suspense novels. It's gotta roll out at the perfect pace and Conley did that here. And just when you thought it might actually be over, it really wasn't. That was great.

So this book is a HELL YES on the recommendation meter. It's sexy with a good plot and characters that'll make you laugh as much as they'll make you roll your eyes. Gotta love books like that. This is a winner, so definitely check it out.

Story had potential. The story started out good. Had the the developed characters. Loved the security team. Although I expected more action from such strong men. The story just didn't come together for me. In fact, I skimmed through the last half of the book, after the blowjob. I mean really. Quinten is outside watching the perimeter, Krista's parents are in the guest room and she wants to guilt Ryan into sex, teaching him a lesson, by giving him a blowjob. Of course, Ryan is a man. Of course he succumbed. While Ryan was patrolling for the night, he found evidence that someone was on his property and been there all day. After calling Simon, he goes in and does not inform whiny Krista, but allows her to distract him. This story just became so ridiculous. I continued to skim through to find out what happened to Senator Lawrence, Ed Lowe and Wayne Lerry, only to be disappointed in the end. Ryan and Krista's relationship had potential. I really enjoyed the development of the relationship. Or the potential relationship. Then I started to read Krista go from a strong woman to a whiny, insecure, sex starved idiot. Ryan repeatedly fought his attraction to her. Explaining he had to keep his head on straight to protect her. Krista's mind read this as rejection. Are you kidding me! These powerful and dangerous men were looking for her and threatened her beloved nephew and she just felt rejection. And this family she loved so much she constantly lied to "for their own protection." How stupid can you be. Your dad is a retired cop. Your brother-in-law is an attorney and you can't protect yourself. Why wouldn't you want to warn your family. It wasn't like Lowe could have been a threat, she knew he was because she rescued a 10 year old boy from his clutches. If she was my sister and did not tell me my son was in danger, I would have kicked her ass. Don't get me started on the BBQ party at the safe house with the parents and Jenna, the best friend. Really! Sorry, could have been so much better. Thank goodness it was free! Still on the fence about recommending. Also, the bad guys were not dealt with. Which means this story will bleed into future stories, of which I will not be reading. Two stars is generous considering.

I gave this more of a 1.25-ish rating because it isn't the worst book I've read but it didn't deserve two stars. The book focused too much on the relationship and lust aspect; if you decide to write a book with such a dark premise with disgusting predators as the villains that should be the focus.
Instead the author barely focused on the bad guys, creating no suspense or mystery as she immediately tells the reader who they are and what they're doing. Even with this, it could still be positive as the reader knows something that the main characters don't know about but then they immediately find out too! Even their discovery of who the ultimate bad guy is is mentioned around three times before they realise who it is.
The two darkest scenes, one in Lowe's office and one in the warehouse, aren't written in two much detail. If you're writing such a dark plot, you can't be scared to be graphic or it just seems somewhat fluffy and the reader doesn't become empathetic or invested in what happens to the character.
Suspense and build up seem to be an issue as the way it was written means that the reader knows exactly what the bad guys are doing so there's no mystery. Also, Lowe is seen as growing a little bit insane towards the end of the book and obsessed with both the main character and her nephew. All he'd done in the book was mention Tate, the nephew, once creepily and then the author feeds you information of how Krista has been showing him pictures and mentioning stories for ages. His insanity is also supposed to be progressive throughout the book but it's only seen in three stages: Normal- Unhinged- Suicidally insane.

In my opinion, this book was written as a romance but then Miss Conley realised it needed something extra and just threw the predator website plot into it. The sex and romantic scenes are the most well written and the longest scenes whereas the other plot aspects seem rushed, especially the ending where conclusions are rushed to quickly give the main characters a happily ever after as the good guys triumph. This wasn't at all what I was expecting and I wish that I'd chosen another book to read instead.

Anne Conley writes an excellent novel full of angst, suspense, passionate steam, and thrilling moments. There are surprises lurking from every page until you get to the conclusion. The romance is off the chart, and there are decision that the characters must make in order to reach the conclusion of the story.

Meet Krista and Ryan. They initially see each other at a park. Krista goes to the park every day on her lunch hour. She works very hard and needs the break to regroup. Her boss at times intervenes on her break, and let me tell you he acts like there is care for her. Than one night she ends up breaking in on the boss doing something down right evil, and Krista goes on the run. Ryan and his group are called in by the boss to track and return Krista to him. He tells the security group that Krista has stolen something from him.

As Ryan seeks out Krista what started out as tracking ended up in protection detail. That is until the security firm can get the down and dirty on what is happening with the boss and his sick ways. Ryan's attraction takes a backseat in order to make sure Krista stays alive.

Krista and Ryan have chemistry that cannot be ignored. The priorities of the mission get in the way of acting out Ryan's urge to claim Krista. Ryan is divided between what feels good versus what is going to keep his head in the game. Can Ryan conquer both?

There is plenty of action for thrill seekers. Let's just say Craze can really get your heart pumping. At the end of the book you are left with quite the book hangover, but wow was it worth it. There is so much to enjoy in Craze. I can't wait to see what is next in the series. More mischief and mayhem for these men?

I hope you enjoy Craze as much as I did. There is plenty of testosterone to go around with those men.

I found the book a bit slow at first, the whole fast that Krista and Ryan's relationship revolved around him trying to capture her but instead he fell in love with her, i feel like its been done before. Don't get me wrong, this is a good book with some amazing scenes, but as i said, i found it a bit slow to me at least :) cant wait to read more by this author

I read and enjoyed previous books by this author. However this is definitely my favourite so far.

This is book one in the Pierce Securities series. It's Ryan and Kristas story and what a story it is. Ryan is part of Pierce Securities. When they are called in to find Krista they get more than they bargained for. Krista is a great character. I really liked her. Ryan's a hot sexy alpha that will do anything to protect who he cares for.

Well written romantic story with a brilliant suspense storyline. The characters came across as strong and relatable which I loved. I got to a stage in the story where I felt something bad was gonna happen and I didn't want to continue. However I was compelled to keep reading to see what actually was gonna happen. Twists and turns were unpredictable. Another great bonus to keep me on the edge of my seat.

On a more personal level I want to add that I started this book an hour after being in a car crash. I seriously thought that I'd be dwelling on the crash all day. However Anne's words dragged me out of the real world and into her story. A truly great read. Thank you Anne.

Looking forward to reading more about these sexy men in future books.

I was given the opportunity to ARC read Craze and wanted to share my review. AWESOME READ! Drama, action packed, love story, couldn't put it down!! Krista is going along, working, a normal, day in day out job, minding her own business. She does get to enjoy a little eye candy at lunch with a nice looking guy that she admires from afar. That guy, Ryan, is watching her too, and admiring. While Krista is dropping off completed work she walks in on the unthinkable and a huge mess. Ryan works for Pierce Securities and they have to protect her from the ones that want to harm her. Can Ryan protect her and keep her safe and does he care for her too!? Oh you have to read to find out! Great supporting alpha characters in security company! Can't wait for more.

I was gifted this book in exchange for an honest review.

This is a great book, I loved everything about it. It has lots of sexy alpha males in this First book of the Pierce Security Series, we have Ryan who we get to know really well. Krista is a strong and independent female character who works for a financial company and one evening stumbles across something awful that turns her quiet life upside down and puts her in danger. She comes across the Pierce Security firm and meets Ryan who will be closely working with her. This is a thrilling,gripping and sexy read. Can't wait to read more about the other sexy men in this series.

This was the first book I've read by Anne Conley and it won't be the last. I fell in love with the characters from the start. The depth of emotions connected me to them, both the hero and heroine. Even her secondary characters came to life in the pages and I cannot wait to read them when they get their own books. The sexual tension was through the roof and the story kept me turning pages well past my bedtime. Loved it!

Craze is lots of action and suspense. Krista walks in on her boss and witnesses something unspeakable. She tries to do the right thing but soon gets caught up in a dark and dangerous situation.

When Ryan’s security firm gets involved, Ryan tries to keep their relationship on a business level but the attraction is too strong.

“...you’re a man. And we have our weaknesses. One of those weaknesses is a beautiful woman.”
“She’s more than that.”

I listened to most of Craze on audiobook and enjoyed the narration.

You. Have. Got. To. Read. This. Story! An outstanding mystery with every element of a fascinating thriller. If you care anything for mystery & suspense, for exciting action that has you holding your breath and leaves you on the edge of your seat.......then, this book is for you. Krista accidentally stumbled into a situation that had her fleeing for her life. Ryan is the security agent tasked with finding her, hiding her and keeping her safe from the powerful & deranged men determined to capture and snuff out her life. The insidious power runs deep, flowing through the justice system and rising upwards to pinnacles of influence and control. The devious twists, the surprising turns and the emotions of fear, anger, terror, frustration, lust all culminate into an amazing tale of suspense along with the confusing chemical reactions sparking between Krista & Ryan. Their journey together includes the pathway to love despite all fight, denial and struggle against it. I am thankful to have received this book in exchange for an honest review. I eagerly look forward to Ms. Conley's next book. Five Stars.

~~~~~~~~~~Sharlene's ★★★★✰ Review~~~~~~~~~~
Ryan and Krista have noticed each other in the park at lunch time but don't actually meet until something terrible happens and Krista needs Ryan's help to get out of it. Ryan is the all american, outdoorsy, boy scout type and Krista is the lover of indoor plumbing. These two really shouldn't make any kind of connection but they do. The story is told in dual POV. The characters are well developed. I did have a hard time connecting with Ryan but that's more because of the type of guy he is rather than the writing. Krista doesn't seem to mind though. lol The scenery descriptions are done very well. Sex scenes are hot but not overwhelming the book. There are some twists and turns in here as well. Some small triggers for sexual abuse and rape so be careful if these are an issue for you. They are not a major part of the book but do have something to do with the plot.
This can be read as a stand alone and does have an HEA. This is the first installment of the Pierce Securities series so hopefully we will see more of these two in the future.
Romantic suspense is one of my absolute favorite sub genres. Craze was the first book I have ever read by Anne Conley and I definitely want to read more. This is the first book in a series by this author and I definitely think more readers need to check her out.
Welcome to Pierce Security. A group of sexy men who have ventured out to set up their own security team. The funds are tight, the cases are few but what they do have is a strong determination to make this venture a success.
When a business man comes to them with a job, they listen intently but see the red flags flying high. His story didn’t seem creditable but they needed the job so they took it. Little did Ryan know the woman they were hired to find was the classy lady he had been admiring at the park during lunch the last few days. She was out of his league and he wondered how she could have done what she was being accused of.
Krista works to hard, crunches those numbers and has a very boring existence. Eating lunch at the park and watching the parents play with their kids reminded her of what was missing in her life. She also enjoyed watching the rugged man each day, wondering what kind of father he would be. One night, hours after everyone else had left the office, she walks into a criminal act that will put her life at risk. With no other option than to run, she is soon chased down by the man who was hired to deliver her to the suspicious business man…….her rugged eye candy from the park.
Ryan will now have the job of protecting Krista till they could find out who was lying to them and NOT falling in love with her. From this point on the author will leave you breathless as the truth begins to unfold and the love that Krista and Ryan fight begins to consume them. He is going to have to decide if keeping his job and help the only team that would take him in and give him a chance to prove himself worthy is more important than what his body and heart is screaming about taking Krista as his own.
Krista is afraid yet she isn’t willing to back down. What she saw was horrendous, what she did was right and she would do it again even if that means her death, but what is she supposed to do when her body responds to Ryan every time he enters the room. She will get to experience Ryan’s world out in the woods and find his way of living appeals to her more than she expected, but is she ready to give up her career to be with him, that is if she survives this ordeal.
I really enjoyed this book and look forward to the rest of the series. This is a different path for the author compared to her other books but she had shown that she can expand her style and talent and not disappoint her readers. Grab your copy of Craze and be prepared to ride the twist and turns of suspense and passion with these two.
**** Written after first read, early 2015****
This was a really fun, fast read. When it first opened and I was reading Krista’s POV on Eye Candy, and then Eye Candy’s POV on Krista, he seemed creepy and I expected it to go in an entirely different direction than it did – meaning I was surprised at what Krista walked into when she stumbled into a mess. I also enjoyed watching Ryan’s character sort of evolve before my eyes.
Another character undergoes a change in demeanor too but no spoilers so I’ll just say I’m impressed and I think Conley is brilliant in creating her characters.
The feelings of the main characters are revealed and it’s predictable only in regards to the romance – the action that ensues is fun and not exactly as I’d expect it to be. I love that Conley doesn’t shy away from any topic or issue – it definitely makes her books feel more real.
I read this in just two sittings, unable to put it down. It was supposed to last me a little longer than it did but I simply couldn’t stop and stayed up all day reading it while I should’ve been sleeping. Whenever I put this book down, I missed it and had to pick it back up.
Cover: Professional, though not original.
Editing/Proofing: Excellent with spelling and grammar—very few errors found. However could use another pass, as there are some continuity issues.
Formatting: Absolutely gorgeous.
4 stars.
Re-read January 2019
Now that I’ve read the entire series and know how everything plays out, and I’m re-reading Crazy, all I can do is marvel at Conley’s brilliance. It all comes together so incredibly well, yet each piece wraps up as a nice, neat standalone. There are some continuity issues that could be addressed, one pretty major, but this doesn’t take away from the reading experience too much. There are still real feels, so much glorious angst and some of the hottest sex scenes I’ve read.
You absolutely must read this series.
4.5 Star Review Craze: Pierce Securities #1 by Anne Conley
Anne Conley was a new author to me and I am so glad I agreed to read this ARC. It was fantastic.I loved the main characters of Krista and Ryan. .
Casual flirting whilst eating lunch at the park daily sparks both their interests in each other. Krista works as an accountant whilst Ryan works as an investigator for Pierce Securities
Ryan trying to drum up business for the firm visits Krista’s work place to leave his companies details; little knowing what is about to happen will transform not only his, but Krista’s lives forever.
Krista accidently walks in on her boss after hours and finds herself confronted by a horrific act being performed. Although in shock she knows she has to run as if her life depends on it.
Krista’s boss anxious to find Krista and silence her hires Pierce Securities find and bring her back. Forced to run, she is found by Ryan and brought in. Ryan is charged with keeping Krista safe since the men of Pierce Securities feel that there is more to the story than what Krista’s boss told them.
Ryan takes Krista to his sanctuary in the woods. The attraction between them continues to grow despite Ryan fighting it. I really enjoyed the interaction between these two and once the sex occurs it simply sizzles. I love romantic suspense, throw in a hot alpha male and wow!!!!
As the drama unfolds you cannot help but ask Will Ryan keep Krista safe? Or will his obvious infatuation lead him to complacency and therefore put her in danger?
You will have to read Craze to find out how the talented Anne Conley eaves her magic. This book has it all. Great characters, an interesting and gripping story line and so much more.
I anxiously await the next book from Anne Conley and the men and women of Pierce Securities.
This was my first time to experience Anne's writing, and she has me hooked! Right from the beginning I couldn't put the book down.
Krista is living a pretty boring life, most all her time is spent working. The little time she has that she enjoys outside work, is spent with her sister and nephew, and her time in the park. Spending her lunch breaks in the park, watching the sexy stranger across the way, she fantasizes about him. One of the last to leave work one night, her life is changed forever.
Ryan, works for Pierce Securities, but business is slow, and they need all the work they can get. So when a new client walks in and offers them a job, they accept it even though they instinctively know something is off about the client.
Ryan is put in charge of the case, but when he sees the focus of the job is the girl from the park, the one he has been fantasizing about since the first time he saw her. Well things get a bit crazy.
Krista and Ryan together is a recipe for sparks, and miscommunications. From one moment to the next emotions are high, but will Ryan be able to keep Krista safe without falling for her, or will the feelings these two have for one another set their already planned futures on a new course.
I loved how I could not guess ahead, I was on the edge of my seat though each page.
This is a 5 star read for me. I can not wait for the next in the Pierce Securities Series.
4.25 Stars!
I really liked this book. This is a new author for me and definitely someone I will look for more in the future. I am a sucker for romantic suspense. I love the action, drama, and suspense that comes with the steam. This author crafted an amazing story that will keep you on your toes until the very end. This book was sweet, sexy, and also had tons of laughs.
This is Krista and Ryan's story. Krista is on the run and who better to run to than the guy that you admire daily. After witnessing something horrible and only to take it and flee, she knows she needs help. Ryan works at a struggling security firm trying to get its legs off the ground. What starts out as a job playing both fields turn into so much more. Secluded in a home in the woods and miles away from others, their safety is not the only concern. Ryan and Krista's hearts are now on the line. Can these two find justice and a happy ending?
Oh I loved Ryan. He was so manly, rugged, alpha, sexy, ad uber protective. He knew from the beginning that his classy lady could not possibly be bad. I loved how he shielded her and put his self on the line multiple times to protect her. I also liked Krista. She was down to earth and super relatable. These two had tons of chemistry and loads of sexual tension was zipping between them. I was rooting for them even when the obstacles seemed to be too much.
I recommend this book and can't wait for the next!
**ARC was provided in exchange for an honest review**
This was the first book I’ve read by Anne Conley, and it won’t be my last. I enjoyed this story and I’m interested to see what happens next with this group of men.
The book starts off a little slow, but once Krista walks in onto something horrible, things pick up quick. Krista is on the run, with the bad guys on her heels and she doesn’t know who she can trust.
Ryan and his security firm are looking for some work when a man walks in asking them to find Krista and bring her to him. She’s stolen some “important documents” and they need to be returned ASAP. After Ryan is able to track down Krista and they get her story, they are ordered to head to Ryan’s home in the woods. Those these two had a physical attraction to each other before they are confined to the woods, it just intensifies when they are in close quarters.
How in the hell is Ryan supposed to protect this woman, when all he wants to do is rip her clothes off her body?
Just when Ryan and Krista finally give in to what their bodies, that’s when all hell breaks loose.
Will what happens next tear Ryan and Krista apart? Or will the tragic events end up bringing them even closer together?
This book has just the right amount of action, steamy scenes and drama that keeps your attention. I’d recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good story! I can’t wait to see what Anne has in store for the rest of the Pierce Security men!
When I first picked up this book for review, I wasn’t sure what to expect. It has a great balance of suspense and romance to make it one of the best reads for me this year. The story had a great plot and kept me well entertained. There were a couple of scenes that were hard to read just because of the topic. The characters were amazing. I enjoyed Ryan and Krista’s relationship; they are complete opposites but yet they compliment each other nicely. I had to laugh at some of the situations they got themselves in because it was Ryan’s job to protect her, not try to get in her pants. Watching them both become frustrated and try to fight the attraction was incredibly amusing and entertaining. In addition to the main characters, I loved all the boys of the securities firm. They all have such awesome personalities that it was hard to remember they’re fictional characters.
The suspenseful element of the book was well done. Right off the bat you learn what it is that Krista sees her boss doing but you don’t know who the puppet master is until later in the book. I kept guessing as to who it could be and holy moley batman I was so wrong. I do wish though that we had gotten to find out the motive for all of it. This is the first book in the series, so maybe in another book we’ll find out. There is no cliffhanger for those who don’t dig them and you’ll love the ending. Happy reading!
