My Besties: The Come Up

I couldn't tell from reading this book that it was a first for Asia Hill. She really gave it her all when she put the words together to write this story. There was drama from the beginning until the end. There was also murder, drama, and suspense. The ESC crew put the women from Set It Off to shame. I'm ready for part 2 Asia.

This was the first book I have ever read by this author and it was be my last. I love the friendship that these girls had the true meaning of ride or die. All the twist and turns in this book had me going. My mouth is still open from that ending I can't say I seen it coming. If you haven't read this story you are missing out.

JuJu,ReRe,Tiki and Dirty E are best friends connected by their dysfunctional upbringing. They are making money by any means neccesary, when these ladies come-up in a major way they have no idea what kind of war they started. Will their illegal dealings have grave consequences? or Will these smart, street wise ladies come out unscathed?

Wow!! This book had it all drama, action, suspense and a cliffhanger ending, can't wait to read part 2 of this constant unfolding drama. Great debut by this author.

Awesome read!!!!!Asia Hill

This was jumping from the beginning to the end now I am ready for book 2, there was a lot of drama and deceit in the making cause of jealous people. Asia Hill first read I g your book but I must say it was off the chain East side Crazy crew.

This book had so much potential. The characters lacked real development and the story jumped all over the place. Toward the end, the storyline completely fell apart and made no sense whatsoever. The book also needed a better editor.

Honestly, I was torn. Everything about this book is extremely over the top. There's a guy who has sex multiple times in the span of an hour, like the male refractory period isn't a thing. The only character of the main four who seemed noticeably different was Dirty E, and possibly only because she was gay. Otherwise the girls and their insane backstories were pretty much interchangeable, but it was still a lot of fun to read just for the madness that ensues. I'll stick it right in the middle with three stars and if I ever end up robbing a bank, I'll read the rest of it with the payout if I don't wind up in jail.

Good urban read-fast paced as ESC lived up to their name! Ju-Ju & her crew not only caused ruckus, but found themselves caught up as they came-up. This was my first read by Asia Hill & I look forward to reading more of her work.

The premise, backstories and, twists and turns (which there were many) had promise.
But, the characters weren't fleshed out, much less developed. No cohesion to the storyline at all.

Horrible. I need my time back. I don't like to read summaries of books because I feel they will dissuade me from reading a book that is really good. So I just select based on title. That said I think reading the summary would have helped me to AVOID this book like the plague. It says crime and that is am understatement. Crime, violence, ghetto mentality, corrupt cops, bad kids with horrible role models it is no wonder they turned out the way they did so not really sure why everyone was shocked.

I couldn't hardly understand the conversation with the limited vocabulary, broken English and slang. I am sure there are people that speak that way but I don't know of any. Everyone was a which with a B or a MF'er so it was a bit difficult to figure out who was who, male/female, gay straight, etc. I was glad when it was over so I can move on.

I also did not like the narrator. I didn't feel the different voices for the characters was good. Have the time I could not tell who was talking or who they were referring to in the book because most of the characters sounded the same except for a few.

It also seemed more like a bad depiction of the movie "Set it Off" which was mentioned in the book as well. I really wanted to love but I absolutely hated it. I almost didn't want to write a review it was so bad.

I read this entire series nearly a decade ago & liked it enough to give it 3 star rating!
I loved that there were four friends on the least talked about side of THE CHI: THE EAST SIDE!
I hated what occurred to at least two of the 4 teen girls during a sleepover, but loved how the girls responded to who caused these little girls unspeakable harm.
I felt that the grown dudes that were checking for (who had kids of their own) these teen girls were WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYY TOO OLD to be getting with them, which was a turn off!
These young still in high school (9th or 10th graders) girls were allowed at some point to live with their grown ass, gang-affiliated bfs by their aunts/mothers/guardians after they were caught skipping school & planning bank robberies, which was crazy on all levels!
That being said, I continued to support the author's work by reading & years later purchasing the series for my own personal library collection!

This book had me on the edge of my seat at the end! My boyfriend and I just finished reading it and finished it like 20 mins ago! It was so well read (we listened on audible) you could see each element from each characters perspective. I cant wait to listen, or god forbid read with my eyes, the sequels! ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS BOOK AND RECOMMENDING! BTW my favorite people were Lil Mama, Ri-Ri and E. Straight gangsta broads ♥

Chi town Themed: terrible ending

It was great to read about Chicago and real streets I grew up on. I appreciate the character development but it was too much character switching. It cause confusion because you were never sure who was telling the story. Even with the names above the paragraph, it was distracting how often it switched. The ending made me feel incomplete. Could be a set up for book 2 but it felt unfinished

Real action packed

Chicago girls get into a life of crime. Talks about the urban black lifestyle. Always interesting to read books from different authors. Also like books not based in the USA. Irish authors, any authors not white. I read plenty of white authors in the USA also. Like to broaden my horizions.

Story

So this book had so many different stories and characters. I really don't know who my favorite is. So the storyline was really good. Having besties of my own growing up had me remembering a lot. We didn't do any of these things but we did stick together. I enjoyed getting to know the characters on a personal level. Thanks

This story is about 4 young girls that were beat down early in life by the people that were supposed to love and protect them. They found each other and created their own “family” and it was not short of any drama. ESC, as they called themselves are not to be slept on.

Can’t wait to see what’s next for them.

Great read, these girls are down for whatever! Keep the books coming, I'm definitely a fan! I liked their bond and commitment to one another, even though their lives started out messed up, they promised to always have each others back, and they did! I would recommend this book, looking forward to reading part 2!

This book is very well written. I hated that all the girls came from a rough past however, I am glad that they were able to find love in the men in such a short amount of time. The men had their back despite the trouble the girls found their selves in. The way it ended it seems as there is a part 2 due to some unfinished business, which I can't wait to read.

Please write like an adult!!!

The concept of the book was good. But it really felt like a middle schooler wrote this book. I like a polished hood book but this was just ghetto writing at its finest. Not worth buying.

Besties

I totally enjoyed this book. The story was completely believable. The characters are completely real. I could see the projects where they went to. I believed their family and friends were real. I will recommend this book to everyone.

Man these Chi-town girls are off the chain and I am here for it. This 1st installment was the perfect set up for the series. These girls are loyal to the core. I cant wait to see what happens when Lock Jaw finds out about his aunt.

This was a pretty good book. The character development was good but I didn't see that ending coming. I feel like it was cut short. At any rate, it was a good read that kept me enthralled until the end.

Too confusing. Each chapter is from a different character's point of view. There are too many to follow. I think it ends on a cliffhanger but I see no information about a book too anywhere. I would love to have my time back.
