This is a great series that has it all. Suspense, excitement, mystery, a small amount of romance, and great characters. You get to meet Eden Mercer who is a fairly new officer in the small Oregon coast town of Nightfall and follow her development. Her goal is to become a detective. Along with her K-9 pal, Shadow, they help investigate and try to solve a number of mysteries and murders, sometimes getting themselves into some dangerous situations. The characters are great, and Paige’s detailed descriptions of the environment and surroundings make it easy to visualize what is happening. It is definitely a series worth reading that will capture your interest and imagination to want to continue on to the following books so you can discover what else Eden and Shadow encounter.

10+ Stars The Eden Mercer K-9 Thrillers Boxset: Books 1-5 by Paige Black is a great series and I have loved every page! Eden Mercer FMC is a new officer in the small Oregon coastal town of Nightfall and Shadow her K-9 partner investigate and solve a number of mysteries and murders, sometimes getting themselves into dangerous situations. The suspense and action are off the charts; the writing is superb and a boxed set...score! Money saved and binge reading two of my favorite things when it comes to book!! Highly recommend!!

All 5 books were a re-read for me. But the depth of the characters & of the stories is still spellbinding. Eden has grown from the scared cult teenager to a confident young police officer. In #5 she decides to go to a K9 training exercise which turns out to be anything but the norm. Violent handlers & dogs trained to kill and an older man that tried to walk away from it all, only to end up murdered. Can Eden & Grace figure out what's going on & find the bigger picture before Eden & Shadow end up like Sammy, the older man, brutally murdered?
This is a series that has good mysteries, almost all are well thought out and handled very well with the clues, etc.
I definitely had some character issues through these books. Even with Eden's history I feel her character is too juvenile in the romance department - also Wilder as the romantic interest - on the one hand it's refreshing that he's careful, on the other, he's too careful for a grown man - you're not even sure he's interested. Hanks is a great character. Shadow doesn't get enough "screen time" in the books considering it's billed as a K-9 series.
I will say I've read more books in the series and it gets better mostly with fewer items that are questionable to me.
Brilliant value boxset with the first five books in this series included which gives us the introduction to Eden, her K9 Shadow and the various family and work colleagues as Eden gets involved in various murder investigations. This is a brilliant series that keeps you on the edge of your seat and each story gives a little insight into what Eden has been through as a child and her resilience and determination to succeed as a police officer and detective as the author draws you into Eden’s life such that you get invested in the outcome of each investigation. Definitely worth reading.
This review does not address the author's skill with story or character development. Since I abhor books written in First Person POV, I only purchased the book because the first chapter preview was written in Third Person POV. I closed the book and put it away when the second chapter jumped to First Person POV.
"The Eden Mercer K-9 Thrillers Boxset: Books 1-5" is an amazing collection featuring the first five books in the series. Packed with nonstop action and intrigue, it delivers vivid characters, gripping plots, and impressive detective work.

Eden Mercer is a police officer who wants to be a detective. She may not always do things by the book but she gets the job done in the small town of Nightfall. Each case brings new challenges for Eden, her partner Hanks and her K9 Shadow.

Police officer Eden Mercer, her canine partner and her mentor, detective Hank will deal with the worst in people and society bringing to justice murder, extortion, child abuse while Eden tries to help her family scape the cult they’ve been raised. Gripping thrillers.
It is NOT me and Shadow or Shadow and me. It is Shadow and I. Or Shadow and myself. Please hire a proof reader that knows correct English. The series are well written, just a touch too long with repetition . I had to skip many chapters to get to the point.
Great stories to get lost in. I don’t care much about the dog but I’m not a dog person. I don’t care much for box sets which is my only gripe. Are they perfect. No. But I loved the in depth stories! I would like more to do with the cult she grew up in.
