In a world where supposedly intelligent computers have taken the responsibility to regulate the power grid the unbelievable happens – a virus was planted into the computers and they started to shut down the entire power network. No food, no medicine, no functioning government anymore – the world devolves back into the dark ages. Vampires who had hidden themselves thousands of years come out into the open and only the hunters are able to defend the survivors. Daniel also called Morningstar is such a hunter and he´s also the best. Scott is a over hundred year old vampire who gets tired of life and is flirting with death. One night they meet and are instantly attracted to each other. Daniel is confused about his feeling for a vampire but they can´t stay apart and fall deeply in love. When Morgan an evil female vampire (wry smile) wants to destroy Morningstar once and for all Scott has to decide – his lover or his kind...
The first part of the book was fairly interesting. The plot would have had much more potential to explore but was unfortunately just a filler between the sex scenes in my opinion. Less sex would have done the storyline a favor.
The second part of the book "Sanctuary" tells about Scoot and Daniel leaving and looking for a new home. On their way they meet Chris and Jack two humans who live in the countryside and Daniel convinces them to his dream of vampires and humans living togethe in peace..
That´s where the plot in my opinion starts to get really downhill. Not that the idea of creating a world with both kinds living together and the difficulties they meet to achieve this goal was a bad one – in fact if the sex between the four wouldn´t have been the main part of the story it would have been a rather interesting book. No, I don´t mind sex scenes at all but the plot got very hokey in the end there was neither suspense nor danger everything went very smooth and was just ... boring.
So when you expect a exciting plot don´t read the book but when you´re interested in reading hot sex scenes it´s the book for you. I give this book 3 stars because of the author´s ideas and the first part, I ignorethe second part in my rating.

Morningstar by Jade Falconer

Daniel is a vampires hunter: he is little and cute, with long black hair and pale skin, and no one seeing him could believe he is the best vampires hunter of all. But it is so. Cause under his pretty look, he is deadly and fast and strong. But not quite like a vampire.

And so one night he is cornered by Scott, an old vampire who has managed to survive more than most of the others and who was alive when the world was like we know. Now, in this apocalyptic world, he has long lost the reason to be live and only his inner strenght prevent him to look for the death. But that night maybe he has found that reason again, in the form of a damned pretty man.

They are enemies but they are also lovers. Homosexuality is illegal and Daniel is heager for the touch of another man. He can be a submissive in their relationship but he is a very demanding sub. He is hungry for love, a love he has never known.

Scott maybe is the strongest of the two in the body, but he is, for me, the weakest in the soul: he is alone, and he has lived when the world was a better place, and so now he is haunted by the memories. He needs the love of Daniel to bear his life.

A very passionate tale setting in a gothic world mix with yaoi elements... and with an open ending that leave you eager to read more.

Sanctuary by Jade Falconer

Scott has changed Daniel into a vampire, the very beings Daniel was used to hunt. But Scott can't possibly survive without Daniel and so he has had only a choice: turn his lover.

Now Daniel has to learn how to live as a vampire, how to feed on humans and hide from light and from everyone else. He has to learn a life of loneliness with only Scott by his side: cause Scott will remain with him forever.

But Daniel wants something more from the life: he dreams of a world where humans and vampires could live together, where men who loves men are not imprisoned or forced to live alone.

And then they meet another couple, Jack and Chris, who accept to try to build a life together, an utopian community, and then other people join and other and other... even better then that Scott and Daniel are so handsome vampires... they don't need to lure people with special power, his enough to kiss them (and make something other...)

This second enstallment his more lightly and less gothic than the previous, and also a little more sexy. Like in the other story, even if in their sexual relationship Scott is the dominant character, is Daniel who lead the story, with his beautiful face and with his dreams.

How to put is straight. Well, using word straight will be blasphemy in reviewing of gay romance, but... sometimes things are not that curved and must be view as straight. Whatever. The postcatastrophic world is always perfect place to set whatever author has in mind. The world where suddently all computers stopped to work and electricity is almost myth was created for this book aka humanity was so stupid that any other means of going on was out of question. But hey it is porn so no logic if you please. The energy and slightly pushed born ration of 3 males to 1 female either did not help human race to spread. So male on male was crime. Huch so spice of danger was in the air. Then reader got another logic punch. Tons of vampires were rampaging only to be cut down by tons of hunters. Ha, I think you got our pair of male on male Romeo and Juliet. Hunter and vampire met, fucked loved only be bother by one minor female vampire character who did what proper female in gay romance of this type should, yes died.
Sex was what saved this book. The sex scenes are well written and hot.

Thanks to the author for a good read. This duology would have had five stars except...very repetitive in spots. Otherwise nicely done! I would like to see another story or two from this world. The ending chapters of the second story (Sanctuary) seemed to leave a possibility for that.

Well, there was plenty of sex. And a bit of sweet murmuring of love. Oh, and a dash of violence. But mostly there was sex.
