It’s finally my time. Time to escape from my mother, her crazy antics and questionable morals. I'm getting the heck out of Dodge, leaving the trailer park, to make something of myself. Everything was fine until I walked into The Unacceptables' bar and met Abel Hellock. With his gorgeous muscles, tattoos, motorcycle and perfect smile, my knees quaked. My life was about to be sucked back into the seedy underbelly I fought so desperately to climb out of. Everything was fine until I met my step-brother for the first time.
**18+ for sexual situations, language, and adult content.** It is a Step-Brother & MC romance! This book is a standalone!
Wall Street Journal and USA Today bestselling author Kristen Hope Mazzola is a Florida native now happily rooted in North Carolina with her loving husband and two lazy basset hounds. After several years away from publishing, she has returned to the romance world with a renewed passion for storytelling and a bold, reimagined vision for her Shots on Goal universe. She writes every flavor of contemporary romance— from steamy rom-coms to gritty biker tales to emotional, heart-thumping sports love stories.
Unacceptable was my first MC romance and Kristen Hope Mazzola has gotten me hooked on a new trope. Abel is such a swoon-worthy Alpha that I couldn't get enough of him. He can be sweet and charming one second and all dirty and possessive the next. Unacceptable is a wonderful mix of sweet, sexy, and suspenseful.
Ok, before you start thinking, "Oh no, not another stepbrother book" let me tell you Unacceptable is completely different.
Cricket (I love that name) left her drug addicted, prostitute of a mother behind to find the man she always loved (her dad) who was forced to leave her life when she was younger. So she makes her way to Vilas to find him.
She meets Abel, the drop dead sexy VP of the Unacceptables MC. He is a biker with a tough as nails attitude with everyone but Cricket and his little girl Raine. The chemistry between Able and Cricket was INTENSE and when they finally got together my Kindle damn near overheated.
When she finds out that Abel is her stepbrother and runs into her dad for the first time in years all her pent up emotions boil over. Will she get over Able being her stepbrother? Will she forgive her dad for walking away from her? Find out for yourself and read this book!
I had one problem with it...I wish it was longer but that is only because I may be mildly obsessed with Abel.
This is the first book I've read by Kristen Hope Mazzola and I was not disappointed!! Quick and fast paced book that kept you enthralled until the very end!! Unacceptable had it all!! A complete alpha step brother!! Yum!! A MC!!! Totally hot!! Abel is the complete package!! Alpha!! Protective!! Possessive!! Caring!! Loving!! Compassionate!! Cricket is running from her past!! Former stripper!! Looking for her father, answers and closure. This book is fantastic!! Abel and Cricket as a couple is phenomenal!! Their chemistry is off the charts!! Ms. Mazzola truly gave us an entertaining story!! Smoking hot and a few twists thrown in!! Will definitely read more by this author!!
Abel is strong and an over the top alpha. He knows right away what or who he wants and just goes on like she already belongs to him. Crickett is on a mission to change her life. She is ready to start a new venture in her life without her mother. She happens to stumble into Abel’s path and she has no intention of falling off of her new path.
Unacceptable is book one of the Unacceptables MC series. It’s quick and easy to read. There’s a bit of drama and sadness but overall, it’s sexy as, well you know. Grab this book now or better yet, grab the new box set and take a ride with these sexy men.
OK, so I backtracked here. I read the second book and wanted to check out the first book too and for me it was way too insta everything for me. I didn't feel the "connection" because it all happened way too fast for my liking. Sometimes insta if done "right"(by my standards, lol) is fine with me but in this case/story it just didn't work:(
I liked all the characters but would have enjoyed more of a build-up especially where there was a child involved.
I met this author a little over four years ago when she came to a book signing in Birmingham Alabama. We chatted and I instantly liked her. MC books weren’t my thing at the time so I never read this book. Now I keep asking myself what took me so long. Loved these two characters. If MC books or the stepbrother thing is your type of book then give this book a chance. It’s a fast paced and smexy read. Can’t wait to see what’s to come! This book is available on kindle unlimited at the time of my review.
Good quick read. No cheating or drama. The stepbrother aspect is tasteful and not creepy or weird. The story is fast pace but the flow is nice. ARC given for an honest review. Would recommend for those who love more romance than grit.
It's a great backstory. But it's just the backstory. The real story is what happens when Cricket decides to leave the trailer park and go find that absent dad. He can't be worse than her mom. Right?
When Cricket lands she finds Able. A hot MC member who owns a bar and gives her a job. He wants a lot more from her.
We'll see about that, sugar. I get what I want.
He gives her more too. He gives her hope, happiness and the one thing she's never had. A family.
This is a quick read but gives you the whole story.
"Hearing the name Rave and my home state in the same sentence sent shivers down my arms. I had no idea if it was just a coincidence; it probably was. Right? I could not picture my father being part of a motorcycle gang, but who the fxxk was I to make any judgments either way? I barely remembered him, let alone knew him. He could have been sitting in that very bar and I would have no idea...."
A bad child hood with a drug addicted hooker for a mother and a runaway father. Finally old enough to leave Cricket heads out to the last place her father contacted her from some ten years ago.
A stop in a biker bar brings Cricket face to face with local bikers-The Unnacceptables. She meets one that catcher her eye, Abel. Maybe this new town will be a fresh start and maybe he can help her find her dad. This is a motorcycle club romance book.
A surprising twist and a jaw dropping traumatic events bring things to either the end of the old life or the beginnings of a new life. Can Cricket make a new start or should she go back to where she came from? Life with a motorcycle club can be dangerous. There are events and trauma Cricket won't see coming, nor can she prevent.
I enjoyed getting to know Cricket and Abel. Some scary situations entail, but nothing that wouldn't be expected when living around outlaws. While the book is described as a "step-brother romance" it's not what you think. Which you might be thinking.. ah.. gross. Nothing like that. Her father had been gone a long time. It's not "Unacceptable" to think he may have had another family along the way.
There is much to work out with her so called parents. Abel has his own serious traumatic background to contend with. Can Cricket stay or will she find it all "Unacceptable?"
*WARNING* story contains explicit sexual content and violence Short, but a full story. I liked this one! This does have some sex scenes, but the book isn't over run with them. I like that this story isn't excessively long, it makes them "fall in love" way fast, but it's a romance so that's a given. The story is interesting with all the feels. It's well written and no editing issues that I noticed. Easily read in one sitting. I downloaded the rest in bad sets.
This is my first read by this author and it wasn't bad, I would rate it 3.5 stars as it really doesn't have an strong MC storyline. Also the stepbrother theme is downplayed as well. It is a cute romance but just struggles to me to bring out those essential elements that you are lead to believe are in the book.
A twist, and turn. short read with not enough MC drama for me to call it a true MC book. It did have club stuff but if your looking for that gritty stuff this doesn't have it. It was cute and I did like it
4.5 Stars - Unacceptable is a quick, easy read that doses out just the right amount of sweetness and steam. Kristen Hope Mazzola delivers this stepbrother romance in a unique and satisfying way that even those unsure about the concept will be able to enjoy. Abel will have you melting in no time. This bad boy is oh so good and I loved every minute of his possessive, protective, and stubborn nature. Combine that with his sweet words and appropriately filthy mouth and he’ll have you ready to ride off into the sunset on the back of his bike. His instant connection to Crickett lights a fire that burns hotter as they get to know one another. When Crickett’s newly free and independent personality goes head to head with Abel’s alpha tendencies, their fire blazes, resulting in sarcastic banter, delicious flirting, and scorching encounters.
I loved that Kristen Hope Mazzola garnered a feeling of total acceptance from the start. Everyone in this story has a history and not all of them are pretty, but Kristen allows these characters to acknowledge and overlook each other’s flaws. This sense of acceptance allowed me to believe in our couple’s whirlwind relationship. The past Crickett is running from gives her the hard edges and understanding heart necessary to accept the life she finds waiting for her, providing her journey a sense of credibility. Crickett’s character developed nicely over the course of this quick novel, leaving behind the girl who didn’t know unconditional love to find the part of herself that finally just belongs.
This story moved quickly and with purpose. While we got hints of the stepbrother and MC storylines, Unacceptable was unquestionably focused on Crickett and Abel. Kristen Hope Mazzola fixated this story on the growth of the characters and the connection between them. She gave these two an instant connection that burned hot and fast, creating some serious sparks among the pages. The secondary characters were a ton of fun, adding another dimension entirely to this story. Holt, Rave, Raine, and the rest of The Unacceptables have me under their spell, and I hope this is not the last we’ll be seeing of them. Unacceptable is one of those books you can grab when you need a pick me up that you can finish in one sitting. Kristen Hope Mazzola has written a gem that is light, sexy, and engaging with this book.
This is my third book by Kristen Hope Mazzola and still she has not let me know. a quick and easy read it was the perfect way to pass a lazy afternoon. While I have read several step-brother books and several MC books Unacceptable was very different than most in those categories. The heart of those differences falls to the male character. Gruff and rugged, Abel is all man and all alpha but unlike many step and MC books what he is not is mean. He is super protective but still a loving and compassionate man when it comes to Cricket.
Cricket is running from a past she would like to forget, a former stripper who lived with her dead beat mom in a trailer park, Cricket figures there is no where to go but up so she searches out the dad who loved her but still left her. She needs answers and closure. But while looking for her dad she can’t help but fall for Abel, the sexy MC VP and bar owner. Abel is everything she never thought she would have in a man, including being the step-brother she never knew she had. But once she finds out she might be too deep in this to let him go.
Unacceptable was vastly different yet no less enjoyable than the other books by the author I have read. The only thing I could have asked for more would be that I would have loved if it was a bit longer. I LOVED Abel and really would have enjoyed getting more out of both him and them as a couple. Still, the story was complete and never felt rushed or cut off so for those who are looking for a hot low angst story with a gritty and slightly taboo twist this one is perfect for you. ~miranda
“Wait.” He tried desperately to not laugh as his cheeks got red and his lips pulled up at the corners. “Your name is Crickett? Like chirp chirp?” “Yep, it sure is.” I rolled my eyes before taking a long swig from the bottle. “I’m named after an insect.” “Who would ever think to name their kid that?” “A dead beat and a hooker.”
You may look at this book and say "oh another step-brother" romance, but trust me, it is nothing like any of the books you've read.
Cricket has left home in search of her long lost father. When she ends up in Vilas she meets Abel, the attractive VP of the Unacceptables MC. There is an instant attraction towards Abel, and Cricket is shocked to see that the big bad biker has a heart. Things move pretty quickly between Cricket and Abel and it is definitely HOT! When Cricket and Abel learn they are step-siblings, that is not truly the shock that Cricket feels, it's seeing her father and all the emotions that flood out of her are too much to take.
I really enjoyed how the author didn't make this a typical step brother romance, and the way the story was written was tasteful, hot, and truly amazing. I really enjoyed Cricket's character and couldn't help but fall in love with Abel. I wish this story would have been longer, as it is a really quick read, but I loved how it ended and it definitely has a HEA! I really hope we get more of the Unacceptables MC in the future with maybe some more Cricket and Abel.
I was able to pick up this ARC at Naughty in the South after meeting Kristen. I started this book and I could not put it down. This book has an excellent back story with Crickett and how she got to to where she was. Then she met Abel and all bets were off. You could feel that instant chemistry flowing off the pages as these two interact. Yes this is a stepbrother romance.. but it is SO not what you expect how it plays out. I found it fun and unique and very enjoyable. I love the MC aspect of it because it's not the dominant story in it but it plays a signifigant part in it. It's focus is on Crickett and Able. I so loved the little things that came into play as well. One word... WATERFALLS! I truly enjoyed every moment in this book and I am very much looking forward to more from Kristen. She made this book fun yet serious. Quirky yet hot. Still need to get another Unicorn Duckie since my daughter stole mine...
Firstly I have been waiting so long for this book that when it landed on my kindle to review I think I squealed a little! And my excitement was justified, this is a great story! I love the fact that while it's a Stepbrother Novella it's not taboo like some of the others. It's actually more believable.
I love Crickett and her story, it's pretty devastating at times but also really happy. The connection she has with Abel is on fire. And I love Raine and her part, that was a really nice extra!
This is a quick read, so for those who don't like "insta love" it might not be for you but you should still read it anyway because it's that good! Kristen's sex scenes are HOT! I mean who doesn't like a built up bad boy biker with a dirty mouth...yeah ok no-one!
Go grab this great little read ASAP! You won't regret it!
***3.5 I want to know whats next for Crickett and Abel Stars***
I was given an ARC by the author for blog tour (THANK YOU)
This is a hot quick read about Crickett, a girl who is trying to escape her past and find her future. She has been told that her father abandoned her when she was just a little girl, but with one letter from him, she has found enough hope to go in search of him....
Abel is all hard exterior and soft interior. As the president of the local biker club, he can not have anyone doubting that he isnt capable of handling the job... But the club isnt his only responsibility, and he needs someone that love him and everything that comes along with that.
This was a quick read, and I enjoyed it. It did leave me with some questions, but overall, its a good read. This was my first read by Kristen Hope Mazzola, but it wont be my last.
Cricket decides to take off and leave her truly messed up mother in order to find her father.
Cricket had gotten a letter from her father since he left her and her mom that gave her an idea where to start her search. She never expected to meet Abel or get involved in the Unacceptable's MC. She also never dreamed that she would find out Abel was her step-brother (A step-brother romance).
After she finds out Abel is her step-brother she also finds out things about her father that she wasn't aware of. Are those things too much for Cricket to handle? Are the secrets kept by the Unacceptable's too much? Or has everything she's been through made her a stronger person in the end?
Not what you would expect knowing it is a Step-Brother Romance! When you hear about the Step-Brother Romance some are hesitant because it seems Taboo, however it is only mentioned a few times that they are step siblings. Cricket leaves her home with her mother is search of her father and stumbles upon Abel in the town she last knew her father was in. A whirlwind romance starts and she runs into her dad and Abel wants to know how she knows HIS STEP DAD!?! Great Read as always by an Amazing Author!
This was my first MC book and I think it was a great intro. Unacceptable is a quick an easy read. This book is a little fast paced but it progressed smoothly. I read this book so quickly, I couldn't put it down!
It's not your typical stepbrother story, it was done really well and no quite taboo. Abel is sexy and oh so sweet and Crickett is strong which I love! Definitely recommend.
I love this book! It was soo good! It's a stepbrother mc romance that gives you just enough of each aspect to fall in love!!! It's not like the average step-brother romance, they don't know they are step siblings until after they meet! Abel is so freaking sexy! Swoon all over the place!! My Prince Charming rides a motorcycle!
This is an awesome read...!!! So awesome to the point to where you don't want it to end! It's a short story that has everything wrapped in it, from intense drama scenes to amazing, sweet, and hot sex scenes to scenes that pull at your heart strings. I was honestly sad that it ended. This is definitely a must read!!! It gets 5-Stars from me!!! *****I was provided an ARC for my honest review*****
Holy Moly Able is hot. I loved this book from the moment I picked it up. This is not your typical step~brother romance. I will admit Able amd his little girl gave me the feels. The chemistry between the two main characters sizzled off the page. I do not do spoilers so all I can say is pick up this book you will not be disappointed.
