Six-foot-seven. Jaw like a damn Greek statue. Hands that could palm a steering wheel and my entire waist at the same time. My star captain, and the one man on this roster I absolutely cannot touch.
So why is he in my office right now offering to rub my shoulders?
Rhett Calloway has been finding excuses to turn left toward my office instead of right toward his team for three years. He shows up at my house to change tires nobody asked him to change. He calls me Miss C in that voice and pretends he doesn't know exactly what it does to me.
He knows.
I'm forty-three. I own the franchise, the foundation, and every decision that keeps this team running. I haven't let a man get close in fourteen years, and I'm not about to start with one who's sixteen years younger than me and plays on my ice.
Except he's patient. Annoyingly, impossibly, infuriatingly patient. And when a media scandal puts everything I've built in the crosshairs, this man looks at every camera pointed at us and says let them talk.
He's younger. He's my employee. He's the worst possible decision I could make.
And the worst part?
I'm making it anyway. Repeatedly. With the door locked.
Her Player is the second book in the Vegas Vipers Series. Older woman/younger man. Age gap. He falls first. Slow burn to steam. Forced proximity. HEA guaranteed.
This book contains:
Age Gap (Older Woman / Younger Man) Forbidden Romance (Owner / Player) Sports Romance (Hockey) Forced Proximity He Falls First Slow Burn (3 Years of Pining) Widow Romance Grief & Healing Size Difference Praise Kink Dirty Talker Secret Relationship Media Scandal / Public Exposure Found Family Protective Hero Who Hurt You / Emotional Recovery
Savannah Rylan writes dirty-talking motorcycle club and mafia romance filled with ruthless men, ride-or-die loyalty, and women who don’t back down.
She has a soft spot for anti-heroes with scars, found family dynamics, and enemies-to-lovers stories that make her heart melt. If there’s a morally gray biker growling “mine,” she’s one happy girl.
When she’s not plotting revenge arcs and steamy showdowns, Savannah is wrangling two tiny humans, two chaotic dogs, and a husband who has fully accepted that fictional bikers pay the bills. She’s known for rocking rainbow hair (usually some shade of pink or purple), surviving East Coast winters with dramatic flair, and drinking coffee like it’s water.
Originally from sunny California, she now lives where it snows, which she deeply resents. But at least it gives her more time to stay inside and write about men who prefer leather cuts over parkas.
If you love possessive heroes, high-stakes drama, and spice that fogs up the windows, you’re in the right place.
DNF- I wanted to love this series. I read book 1 and thought it was a bit confusing on the jumps in story lines and that it would suddenly switch to a completely different time and perspective. Book 2 though was impossible to finish. I spent more time asking what the hell was happening and re-reading stuff because it was so all over the place. Nothing lined up. It felt like parts of chapters just got mixed in at random and never made sense. One minute it was in third person perspective and then it switched. I’ve read over 100 books this year and only DNF 2. This was the worst one because I’m still confused.
3.75stars-HER PLAYER is the second instalment in Savannah Rylan’s contemporary, adult VEGAS VIPERS erotic, hockey romance series. This is thirty-seven year old team captain Rhett Calloway, and forty-three year old, team owner Victoria Caldwell’s story line. HER PLAYER can be read as a stand alone but I recommend reading book one HER COACH for back story and cohesion as there is an ongoing premise throughout.
NOTE: If you have not read book one HER COACH, there may be spoilers in my review.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Rhett and Victoria) HER PLAYER follows the building but forbidden romance and relationship between our story line couple. As the fall-out continues from the privacy invasion of coach Colton Mercer, and Victoria’s daughter Brynn ,Victoria along with team captain and confident Rhett Calloway escape to the private cabin of our story line heroine wherein Rhett will continue his slow seduction of Victoria Caldwell. While the Vegas Vipers head toward the championship playoffs, the press, the paparazzi and the public are relentless discovering not only has the coach been placed in a possible compromising position but the team owner as well. Determined to protect one another, Rhett takes a chance with a potential investor, as Victoria must face down the people in charge.
The world building focuses on the battle for hockey’s biggest prize, and the uncertainty of the relationship between Rhett and Victoria. Victoria continues to struggle with the loss of her husband, fourteen years earlier, a loss that directs all of her actions involving the team and her life.
The relationship between Victoria and Rhett is a forbidden romance between player and owner. As one of the few female owners in the PHL, Victoria is under a microscope, and a rumored relationship with one of her players doesn’t bode well for our story line heroine. Already embattled with the coach’s relationship with her daughter Victoria battles between head and heart with her attraction to Rhett, the man with whom she will fall in love. Rhett is determined to prove Victoria is capable of moving on, moving beyond the past, and into a new future. The $ex scenes are emotional and provocative, without the use of over the top sexually graphic language and text.
Once again we are reintroduced to Coach Colton Mercer and Brynn Caldwell (Her Coach), as well as Jettson ‘Jet’, Goalie Moose, Frank and Marcus.
HER PLAYER is a story of grief and loss, second chances and acceptance, family and friendships, relationships and love. The character driven premise is emotional and real but as a diehard hockey fan and Canadian, some of the hockey terminology is wrong, and the actions on the ice involving the owner, coaches, players etc would never happen or be allowed.; the characters are determined and dynamic; the romance is seductive, energetic and spicy.
Again, the AI images on the covers, although eye catching, all look the same, similar to hundreds of covers using the AI format.
Rhett & Victoria's story is fast paced, with a swoonworthy, patient, caring hero & a widow who is ready to stop running....
This is Book 2 of the Vegas Vipers series, as interconnected standalones. Book 1 was about Victoria's daughter & their team's coach... and it's fun to see them in this book as well.
Rhett is the Team Captain... and Victoria own's the team... She's also 16 years older than him... but he's wanted her for 3 years
Rhett... where do I start?? He is not only a hunky athlete... he keeps showing up for her - from showing up at her house to change her tire, to watching their favorite show with her, to giving back massages...and just checking in... he sees her and patiently waits until she's ready (she was widowed 14 years ago but hasn't been able to move forward).
Victoria - 14 years! She's been keeping on keeping on... but not really moving on... still grieving her dead husband... but I love how we see her finally give herself permission to admit attraction to Rhett (even though he's much younger, even though he's a player on her team, etc.). I also love that her daughter talks to her & gives her approval... which is important on many levels (since Rhett is closer in age to the daughter than Victoria, as well as that she doesn't want her to feel like Rhett is replacing her dad). And, I appreciate that Victoria & Coach finally make their peace through the book...
I like how it comes out throughout the book that while Golden Girls is Victoria's go to choice of a show to put on, it's also Rhett's... he was raised by his Grandma & watched it with her... so that's a fun connection. Rhett is also mature way beyond his years & you wouldn't know he's 27.
Spice level: 3.5/5
*hockey romance *sports romance *he's team Captain *she's the team owner *reverse age gap (she's 43, he's 27) *forced proximity *slow burn pining (he's wanted her for 3 years) *he falls first *she's a widow *found family *protective Alpha hero *forbidden love/secret relationship
Thank you to the author (Savannah Rylan) & Booksprout for the ARC. All opinions are my own.
Rhett “Stone” Calloway has been looking out for Brynn’s mother , Victoria Caldwell, as a favor to Brynn. But he has also been hiding his feelings for her the past three years. He has been patient, respectful and observant. He was also the captain of the Vegas Vipers, so he took his job of caring for everyone literally. When a picture of Coach and Bryn is leaked to the media, the press jump on the story. The picture was taken by drone footage and was in violation of their privacy. Reporters were so relentless that, Victoria, Brynn Rhett and Coach whisked away to a home she had purchased to live in with her late husband, Ryan. Victoria was trying very hard to keep her distance from Rhett. She was more than a decade older but knew what she needed and didn’t push her. Rhett waited for me to know what I wanted, to let me be sure that I was ready. Throughout the media circus, the anniversary of Ryan’s death came. Rhett didnt push but he did tell Victoria he was there and wasn’t going anywhere. Brynn and Victoria shared a moment but she eventually wanted Rhett. He just laid next to her, listened to her speak about her ex husband. Victoria even said how much Ryan would have loved Rhett. She knew that she wanted to be happy and cared for and was now ready to allow herself to be taken care of. With Coach’s assistance and guidance, the Vipers were undefeated and went on to win the championship. Victoria and Rhett went public with their relationship but not before presenting an affidavit that the relationship did not have any relation to Rhett’s position on the team. During this time Conrad and Brynn’s relationship got more serious leaving the media not much of a story to tell. In the end both mother and daughter were happy and looked forward in growing the success of the Vegas Vipers Franchise.

This book is swoony, spicy, and absolutely overflowing with forbidden hockey romance tension 👀🏒🖤
A powerful hockey team owner?
Her star captain who's been secretly in love with her for YEARS?
An older woman/younger man romance that neither of them can resist??
Yeah… I was hooked IMMEDIATELY.
Miss C was SUCH an incredible FMC 👀✨
Strong. Intelligent. Respected.
She built an empire, runs an NHL franchise, and refuses to let anyone question her authority.
And honestly??
I admired her so much.
Then there's Rhett Calloway.
And WOW 👀🔥
Patient.
Protective.
Absolutely head-over-skates in love with her.
This man has been quietly showing up for her for years—finding excuses to see her, taking care of the little things, and waiting for the day she'd finally let him in.
HE FALLS FIRST.
And he never stops falling. 🖤🏒
The chemistry between these two was EVERYTHING.
Because while Miss C keeps reminding herself why they can never happen…
Rhett never once doubts she's worth waiting for.
The shoulder rubs.
The lingering looks.
The secret moments behind locked doors.
The way he makes her feel safe enough to finally let someone love her again.
Every scene had me smiling.
And WOW 👀🔥
The age gap and owner/player dynamic added so much delicious tension.
Because they're risking careers, reputations, and everything they've built for a love that was never supposed to happen.
Then add in media scandals, grief, healing, found family, and a hero who would happily stand in front of every camera just to protect the woman he loves...
AND WOW 🖤✨
I couldn't put it down.
✨ If you love: • older woman/younger man • hockey romance • forbidden romance • he falls first • slow burn • protective MMC • workplace romance • found family
This one is emotional, romantic, addictive, and packed with hockey-player devotion that completely stole my heart 🖤🏒🔥✨.
Yes! I knew this book was going to be good. We finally get Victoria and Rhett's story, especially after all the glimpses we got previously. Holy cow, the tension between them is scorching. I was always curious what happened between them when he fixed her tire, and let's just say I didn't expect that—but it was absolutely perfect and totally them. Rhett's calculated, deliberate nature was exactly what Victoria needed to have her walls come crashing down. Yet, I loved his boyish nature and could see exactly how she was so smitten with him... regardless of how hard she tried to stay away. The push-and-pull tension was everything I craved. And seeing her and Brynn's bond strengthen as well as the team with their bonding and banter is the best! I am thoroughly enjoying this series and can't wait to see what's to come.

Sports romance (Hockey) Age gap (OWYM) Forbidden (Owner x player) Close proximity He falls first Dirty talking MMC Widow MFC Found Family
So much tension! This kicks off during the event of Her Coach (Brynn’s story), and it was interesting to see another perspective. It’s got slow burn vibes (he’s wanted her for years…). He’s the goofball golden retriever to her black cat energy. He’s got a definite praise kink, but he’s also dominant and a little filthy. The conflict in this was more external, and Rhett… well, he proved he could handle whatever was thrown at him.
This was emotional at times, humorous at others (looking at you Jett)… I’m so glad that he’s about to get his own book.

Victoria’s husband passed away 14 years ago, and she hasn’t been ready to let another man in her life. That is why the feelings she is having for Rhett, the younger captain of the hockey team she owns, is something she shouldn’t pursue however the more time she spends with him the more she begins to wonder if he is exactly who she needs.
Rhett has had feelings for Victoria for few years however he knows that she hasn’t been ready so instead he tries to be there in any way that he can. When a media frenzy erupts around the time he is determined to protect her and her daughter and isn’t about to back down or walk away.
Despite all the reasons that they shouldn’t be together Rhett is determined that he and Victoria are meant to be as he shows her that as long they have each other they can overcome anything.
This is a fantastic read that brings a few tropes together in a heartfelt steamy love story. Victoria is a woman in charge, as the owner of the hockey team she has to wear a professional mask at all times. Rhett is the captain of the team, 10 years younger than her and pining after her for a few years. They have been attracted to each other for quite some time, the sensual tension is palpable and it explodes into passion that breaks down her walls when he shows her that he can be the alpha man to care for her at all times.
Spicy, humorous, with a sub plot that brings found family, and a organization willing to risk it all to protect their own.

This is the second book in the Vegas Vipers and WOW, what can I say. Prepare to lose a little sleep because once you start reading, you won't be able to put this book down. Rhett will grab your heart right at the beginning. Victoria owns the team and is a 43 year old widow and he's a 28 year old player. He fell for her first and the sexual tension between them if off the charts. No shortage of drama, scandal or emotion. A page turner with a slow burn, close proximity romance that you'll love. We got glimpses of them in the first book and I'm so glad they got their own story. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Wow. This book blew me away. I loved book 1, but this one was amazing. Talk about a MMC, knowing what he wants and pining for her for THREE YEARS. I love watching Victoria finally break down and act more human, and vulnerable. They both help each other in the best way, and compliment each other in the best ways! I love reading about Victorias day to day while running a professional hockey team (Hockey lover here). We watch the Vipers claw there way towards a cup for the first time in 17 years. This story is great, and easy to read!! Cannot wait for book 3!!!!.

I started reading Savannah Rylan books in 2018 with one of her MC series. I didn't think anything could get better than her MC series. I was wrong. Savannah can write a down right awesome hockey series. Rhett is definitely an alpha in his own right. Victoria has lead a hockey franchise for fourteen years and can hold her own with anyone. Rhett and Victoria have come together after circling for three years and the fireworks are awesome. This is a fantastic book. Great characters and a storyline that will make you swoon.

Her Player is a fun and steamy hockey romance with great chemistry, likable characters, and just the right mix of humor and emotion. An easy, entertaining read for sports romance fans. We had a reverse age gap which was great. She was older than him and Savannah does great with the spicy scenes. The only thing I took a star away from is because my arc copy had some inconsistent scenes which hopefully were fixed before being published. Otherwise, I love reading Savannah's books and can't wait for the next hockey one to come out.

This is the second book in the Vegas Vipers series by Savannah Rylan. Victoria is the 43 year old hockey team owner and a widow of 14 years. Rhett is a 28 year old player on her team and completely off limits. The problem? He's had a thing for her for 3 years and he's patient and persistent. In the midst of a winning season and a media scandal involving her daughter and the team coach, Victoria is doing everything she can to hold Rhett off, but is that what she really wants? Age gap, he falls first, slow burn, forced proximity, forbidden sports romance with a fair amount of spice.
Boss Lady... I really enjoyed this story line... Reverse Age Gap, boss/employee... Victoria has built up a wall and routine since her husband's death... Rhett has been patient, always there for her and waits for her to notice... I really loved seeing her finally break through her grief. Great scenes, action filled moments on the ice... I just wish there weren't some inconsistencies that disrupt the flow of the story for me. Overall an enjoyable read!.

Her Player by Savannah Rylan is the story of Rhett and Victoria. She’s an older lady who owns a professional hockey team, the Vegas Vipers. Rhett is a member of the team…and he is much, much younger than she. But, he’s been drawn to her for awhile now.
This story was touching, sweet, and dilemma-filled. You can’t help but become thoroughly invested in these two characters…both fighting their feelings so hard!! It’s an impossible situation and no outcome will be a good one…exciting, angsty read!!
'Her Player is the second book in the Vegas Vipers Series. Older woman/younger man. Age gap. He falls first. Slow burn to steam. Forced proximity. HEA guaranteed.'
The characters were very appealing and complex and complicated and absolutely perfect together. Plot was intriguing and intense and well paced. World building was solidly drawn and impressive. All in all a great addition to the series. Enjoyed immensely and highly recommend.

I could not finish this book. It was terribly written and I have to assume not edited. There was so much jumping around and needing to re-read things because things just didn’t make sense. For example two teams make it to the end of a hockey season undefeated (not plausible), they forfeit and everyone is worried about making the playoffs as a possible wild card. How does that even make a modicum of sense. It’s just a smaller example of the many many things that make this a convoluted mess of a book. I searched if this “author” was AI generated slop because of how poorly written this was.
Victoria is a 43 year old owner of the Vegas Vipers hockey team, she has been single since her husband died 14 years ago. Rhett is a 28 year old player on the hockey team and he has had the hots for Victoria for three years. Victoria tries to resist his advances but eventually she gives in. Rhett isn’t interested in anyone but Victoria. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book via Booksprout.
Book 2 of Vegas Vipers series, this is about Victoria and Rhett. Victoria runs everything, is a momma bear, and learning to move on, letting someone else be with her. I love that Rhett kept showing up, always present, and letting Victoria choose him. I found their relationship to be sweet, they found healing together, and became a team.

Yes, yes, yes! Victoria and Rhett’s book. I didn’t want to put it down (and mostly didn’t). Like the first book, just ignore the inconsistencies. Rhett has the patience of a saint. He’s been waiting three years for her to catch on to how they could be together. I was cheering for him the whole time. Victoria has a lot of trauma to work through but she gets there. Good story, wonderful characters and lots of super steam.
Loved this book. Victoria is the owner of a hockey team and has not been living since her husband died fourteen years ago but one player the captain named Rhett will change everything, Rhett has wanted her for three years but held back but now all bets are off. Will Rhett convince Victoria to let her walls down and give them a chance?.

A story packed with tough games, drama with the rules, and media, but in the middle, two people who have noticed each other, care for each other, and finally allow themselves to feel everything openly. I like how much the protagonists notice each other, and when they acknowledge their serious feelings, obstacles such as rules or optics shouldn't mean much for them to be together.

I loved Rhett and Victoria in this. She’s the older woman. Owner of the team. So that makes Rhett hands off. But he doesn’t see it that way. He likes what he sees and he wants her. He’s on a quest to make that happen. I loved seeing these two trying to navigate around one another while she tried to stay away and he tried to get closer. This was such a great game of cat and mouse. I was completely taken with these two and I’m glad to see how things turned out.
When the owner finds she can’t resist one of the players, what will the world say. Victoria and Rhett have a 14 year age gap, how will it work? Can her daughter accept them? Can they make it work? Can she get over the death of her husband and let a new man in? All these and many more questions will be answered. Great book. Action and learning to grow as a person after the tragic death of a spouse.

This is the second book in the series and focuses on Rhett and Victoria. Rhett has been holding out for Victoria and now he is ready to make his move. Can he convince Victoria to give him a chance? Will Victoria finally give in? Will the age gap come between them?
Enjoyable and entertaining.

I loved Victoria and Rhett's story. He is a patient bad boy who finally got his woman and being the younger of the two! It sizzles and had me cheering this couple on and when the drama came, he stood right beside her. I loved the transformation their relationship undergoes and how he treated her.

This book was sinfully good. There was just something about Victoria and Rhett that really worked for me, and I just could not get enough. The emotions and feelings were plentiful they had my own heart getting an intense workout. I love when an author has the skills to deliver a romance that makes you fall while it makes you feel. It is effervescent and captivating.
Victoria has been lonely by choice for 14 years since her husband‘s murder. She’s built up walls that are impenetrable to everyone, including her own daughter. Over the past three years Rhett has been slowly chipping away at the walls. He is considerably younger than her and plays on the hockey team she owns. Will Victoria give Rhett a chance?
If you are looking for a wonderfully written hockey romance (age gap), look no further. Her Player is a fantastic book and once I started reading Rhett and Victoria's story, I had a hard time putting it down. Well developed characters that keep you turning the pages. Great read!.
