La Veuve Noire’s little boxes keep rattling as she struggles to juggle the challenges that life seems intent on throwing at her. It doesn’t help that the most important thing in the world to her, The Kid, is inextricably linked to the physical representation of her nemesis.
A new little box, constructed from guilt and grief, leads her to take drastic action. Tired of looking over her shoulder, Veuve longs to smash open those little boxes and face up to the demons inside, once and for all.
Ex-Commando, Jax ‘Jones’ is the embodiment of everything she strives to avoid. Frustratingly, the more determined she is to conquer her past, the more she finds herself relying on him.
But what if the past is inexplicably linked with the present? Just who will face the consequences of provoking demons from the past?

Short bio: UK based, bestselling Indie author of contemporary romance … otherwise known as elegantly filthy erotica. Shoeaholic. Introvert. Prude. Teetotaler. Compulsive Liar ... well, not about the shoes. I never lie about shoes!!
UK bestselling author of the Passion Noire, Rouge Passion and Orion the Hunter series. Not your average romance novelist ... but then, who wants to be average?
I love reading - almost as much as I love writing.. I relish the sheer escapism of losing myself in a book that grips me and takes me on an emotional roller coaster. I regularly mourn the passing of a good book - am I the only one who turns the pages more slowly when you don’t want a great book to end?
I love a good steamy romance and I adore sexy alpha males. I also have more than a passing interest in BDSM (nod, nod … wink, wink). One day, I put pen to paper (well fingers to keyboard, actually) and the Orion the Hunter series was born. Little did I know that, at that moment, I was sewing the seeds of change. For, just a few months later, as a somewhat bewildered Amazon Kindle bestselling Indie author, I quit my career as an education professional to write full time. Scary stuff, I think you’ll agree.
2013 was a very difficult year for me for personal reasons. It taught me how fragile life is and how important it is to grab it with both hands and ride the hell out of it. So in 2014, I began my comeback with the Amazon #1 Bestselling Erotica/Romantic Erotica bestselling series, Rouge Passion. I also met many of my favourite authors and so many lovely readers at my first signing event in Edinburgh. I flipped Stu Reardon’s kilt! Happy days …
I have big plans for 2015. I’m signing at several more author events around the UK and I’m pouring my heart and soul into what I consider my best series yet - by far! Cue Passion Noire, a three part series revolving around La Veuve Noire - a sexual therapist by day and a desirable Domme by night. But fear not, sexy alphas are still on the menu. I mean … this is me!
I'm so impressed with this book. I was expecting that since this was the middle book in the series, it was going to be a bit slow and unsatisfying. I stand corrected. Falloir was AMAZING! Please give me more Jones!!!
The relationship between Jones and Veuve hasn't fully developed, but I wasn't frustrated at all. I had no thoughts of yelling at the characters to just get it over with. There were some erotic moments, but it wasn't frequent. The pace was done well and I just loved the story! I need the next book now!
Wtf?! No freaking way can I be left hanging like this.... Noooo!!!! An absolutely thrilling, compelling second book in this series! In case you haven't read it already, book #1, Vouloir must be read first. It's a great book too (be sure to look for the review on the Fictional page/blog) and this second book picks up the story.
I don't want to give anything away but this series goes against my usual type of book but it came highly recommended and I'm so glad I allowed myself to be swayed! Imagine a strong, dependable man, who is brought to his knees. He's agreed to offer his help and found an unlikely family for himself along the way. Imagine a strong woman, who has vowed never to be weak again but finds herself dependent on someone who epitomises her very real nightmares.
It's one of the best series I've read. It's beautifully written and J D Chase is certainly an immediate 1-click author for me, no questions asked.
What's left for me to say? I need more....NOW! And READ THIS ASAP! Highly recommend this truly genius book! 5 stars from me...
I loved the first book of the series, Vouloir. However Falloir excels my highest standards. Both books have great story lines. Falloir is a continuation of La Veuve Noire's life along with everyone around her. You must read Vouloir in order to understand the beginning of the book.
Vouloir had a huge cliffhanger! Speechless. So when I had the chance to get my hands on Falloir, all books were pushed aside to find out What Happened with The Kid and Jones! An huge revelation has fallen into their lap. I feared that it would push Jones to his limit. You finally know more about The Kid and who he wants to become.
Obviously the main character is Veuve. But Jones is such a huge part of the story, all I wanted to read is about him and his past. Sucked me in. I heart Jones. He goes above and beyond for Veuve and the Kid, my heart went out for him.
Veuve has some major decisions she needed to make in this book. She is a strong, independent woman and it is rare to find a character like her. How she effects each person in life is beyond belief. All she wants to do is take care of everyone else. A selfless main character? Does not happen.
If I continued with the review, I would be typing this until the sun goes down. So much wrapped up into one great book(with a hot cover model) I cannot go into any more than I have. The best books are the ones that include each characters point of view. Which bound each persons life into one story in the finale.
With that, JD Chase created a book that will leave you wanting more. Falloir is the quintessential of how a book should be written. Evolving stories with characters that are more than one dimensional. They have depth to who they were and were they will become.
May I say thank you for the opportunity to read this as an ARC !!
Boom !!!! Page one right back there in an instant the feeling that the story has only been on pause and you've just hit play. I love this book .I love it better than Vallouir the way this story is unfolding has me sitting on the edge of my seat and screaming at JD . Noooooooo! !! Jones the kid and Vueve are definitely having one heck of a ride . Jones the commando with the tattooed body to die for his raging lust to have Vueve . The heat filled scenes that you can almost feel sweat beading on your head as you read and that's not the sex it's just the wonderful way in which the book is written. The bond between Jones and the kid is really starting to come out and the kid is simply so oblivious to everything. Vueve and her protection for the kid is becoming increasingly more as she worries how this is going to affect him. Vueve is in turmoil her own life is fraught with fear of the past the present and the future. The Angel the one who couldn't be saved but seems to be saving Vueve it's all twists and turns . Gabe .."sigh" he's all that he needs to be but he's not were he wants to be . Dean and his training obsessed by Vueve . Thierri his crazy assed sister the list goes on and on . Let me sum this up!! This book is simply freaking brilliant!! The detail how much this book has been researched it strikes every single one of my emotions it's an Oscar winning performance in words !!!!! Hot and chilling .Fast and infuriating. Funny and Heartbreaking. Gawd dam woman you have serious skill !!!!
JD has done it again with this fantastic book. I love the way JD's writing just flows and you never want to put the book down. Next thing you know you are at the end of the book saying WTF!
Falloir picks right up where Vouloir left off and we find out a lot of information! But just like JD's writing...we will have to wait for book 3 of this series for all the questions to be answered! Can not wait for its release!! Great Job JD!!!

Holy Mackerel! If I was sitting on the edge of my chair throughout Vouloir, I was either swearing out loud at the author or most of the time, I felt like I was dangling on a precipice in the follow-up of this series. Yes, the storyline is strong and to say the whole plot revolves around BDSM would be somewhat misleading. This is a thrilling read with so much more. Angst-ridden— there’s no doubt about it. Erotic? Well, I can’t argue with that. Veuve, the leading lady, is a proficient Dom with a difference. Romantic… no way José! I was in for a rough ride with all its twist and turns.
Ms. Chase is an expert in causing conflicting sensations only making me question many details in this series. How her two main adorable characters seemed to be constantly sidestepping around their true feelings frustrated me immensely. Furthermore, I don't doubt for one minute that the author's gone to great lengths to investigate into some harsh home truths which shocked me immensely. More than anything, the omnishambles of the supposed 'welfare state system' we live in is hard to admit in this day and age. At best, by describing this, has she brought to light our social responsibility which appears to be failing abominably. The case story written not only worried me, but also made me think that directly or indirectly, we are all to blame for turning a blind eye! And can it be true that with all the liberal notions we have, an 'ex-commando' in one of the most prestigious armed forces in the world is stalked to the point that Jones has to take precautions? This is what I look for in a good read. I want to be challenged, to rack my brain while trying to fathom out the whys and wherefores. I most certainly wasn't let down for one split of a second.
Okay, so if I swore at the author; even more choice words were aimed at Veuve and Jones! When I didn't think their lives could complicate further, blow me over with a feather, they damn well did! Jones, Jones, Jones! For you ladies who want him, he's out of bounds! I have officially made him mine and since I'm sure you've all seen the cover of Falloir, you’ll understand why! Here is a good man. Drawn towards Veuve for his inexperienced sexual inclinations doesn't make him less of a man; Alpha traits he has. Drop your panties gals ‘cause he is the bee’s knees. Honey’ll have a new definition after you meet this drop-dead hunk of a man with rippling muscles in the right places and tats, well, use your imagination! I loved his protective manner towards Veuve and the young lad who stole my heart, too! Yeh, he’s sure The Kid and him have someone in common which ups the pace to extremes. Laugh out loud moments gave me some breathing space before the next paragraph hit home. And patient… Jones, you are in my book, perfectly patient and more besides!
Quote: Jones ~ "My body is perfectly straight and I'm perfectly aligned with hers as she's sprawled on her back. Mere millimeters from our heads to our toes. Our proximity makes me smile. It feels like victory."
So can he get his act together with a woman whose past has traumatised her since when? Crikey, battle against it, she will. But if anyone has enough on their plate, it’s this lady with a golden heart. She’s far from being a pushover; however, striving in her profession as a sexologist, running a business that appears to be falling apart at the seams and psychologist in youngsters’ traumatic cases instantly connected me to her pain and ooh my god, my heart broke into smithereens. Therefore I would suggest having a big man’s hanky at hand. And maybe a big man's heart wouldn't go amiss.
The Kid! Love him. Motherly instincts congealed quicker than blood. All I wanted to do was wish on a star that this lovely lad was going to have a happy ending. Nooo… the author really plays a cruel game. Strong words are in order here… Or come hell or high water, I am definitely going to get back at you for making me suffer so much! More blaspheming, more angst, more nail biting right up until the blinkin’ end of the story… which isn’t, of course, the end!
Ms. Chase, you cannot do to this to me! The cliffy was steep enough in the first read of this series, but this one… it takes the cake! You have woven a spider’s web of intrigue into this one. I am overwhelmed with your ability to tell such a story in the way you have. I am certainly not that number one fan of yours who will give you kudos where they're not due. So perhaps a little bit of encouragement on my part give your readers what they really want! Give us, pretty please, a happy ending! Ooh, how on earth could I have ever forgotten about the ratings for this devilishly noteworthy read which has me dying to get my hands on Avoir. Hate doing this because when I read a book like yours, it deserves ten stars, and this is it! Nevertheless, I'm feeling awfully humble by awarding a hearty BRAVO, too!
My Review After reading Vouloir i had a love/hate relationship with JD...a massive part of me wanted to lock her in my bedroom and refuse to let her leave until she told me what the heck was going to happen next! But alas...i hear that kidnapping is an offence...(who knew right??)...so i waited patiently with baited breath for the second book in this amazing series. Was it worth the wait....f**k yes! Veuve has some pretty major decisions to make in this book, She has faced a lot of obstacles in the past and i'm afraid to say that she has a lot more to come. It's exceptionally rare to find a leading character that i can just relate to. She's strong, independent, she always means well but things don't always go to plan. She has a deep rooted sexuality that tumbles out in unexpected ways. Her dominate side is extreme and in my opinion helps her cope with the contrast between the tough shell and the deep, almost gooey-sweet interior that is showcased at its best with her relationship with 'The Kid'.. She's certainly managed to captivate this readers heart. As for Jones the tattooed, commando hunk...he's every girls fantasy rolled into one package. His relationship with 'The Kid' is slowly beginning to morph to the next level and his passion for Veuve is both hot as hell and endearing in its magnitude. A tempestuous match made in heaven with hellish undertones. JD uses words the way the Pied Piper of Hamlin uses his flute...she captivates you with melodic prose and takes you on a journey of self discovery. Her words hypnotise, and mesmerise, and utterly enthral the reader until before you know it...you've finished the book and you're left spell bound and aching for more. Bravo JD! Bravo! 5 well deserved stars!!
I was gifted a copy of Falloir for an honest review.
Falloir picks up immediately where Vouloir left off. There is a cliffhanger and I am dying for Avoir to come out which is anticipated in June.
I love Veuve's rough exterior and her warm gooey interior. She loves The Kid as if he were her own and is a bit threatened by his relationship with Jones. She feels so deeply for her teenage patients and it is endearing. On the other hand she is an uncompromising Domme. I am fascinated by her character.
Jone's is such a great guy, I want him for myself.
I enjoyed the alternating POV's and think it gives greater insight into the story. The Kid's POV is entertainment at its best.
There are numerous twist and turns in this book and a few "ah ha" moments. It contains heavy subject matter and really made me think. This series is definitely one that will stay with me for awhile. There is a message from JD at the end and it is very enlightening about the real issues covered in this book.
Even though Vouvoir and Falloir are based on a dark world it is excellently written and draws you into the story. There are numerous moments of humor which help lighten the mood. I would highly recommend this book.
***ARC provided in exchange for an honest review - Jacquie / Scandalous Book Blog*** Wow just Wow, I really don’t know where to start I am so emotional right now. But I suppose I should start by saying JD Chase I am not your friend. Falloir is the second book in the Passion Noire series and the action starts where book one finished. Jones, Viv and The Kid are thrown together and secrets keep tumbling out. Viv is still fighting to keep all her little boxes tightly closed and Jones is reeling by the shocks delivered in book one. I adored this book more than volouir and I didn’t think that was possible. The fact that is told in the different pov of the main characters makes a refreshing change and adds to the overall story telling. Falloir has it all, smoking hot sex, plot twists that leave you breathless and the wonderful Veuve and Jax. It ended with such a monumental cliff hanger JD should be warned I am going to start stalking her until I get my hands on the third and final instalment.
I have just finished and where normally i would take some time before writing a review to gather my thoughts, i just had to do it straight away, so apologies if this sounds confused in places.
Falloir picks up where Vouloir left off and you are thrown right back into the story with the same characters as in the first book. I was soo excited when i got to chapter 2 and found out that the Kid has a speaking part in this book, it just made me fall in love with it right from the start. Having said that, every time he had a chapter i felt emotionally torn apart afterwards, he slayed me. I love that the writing of this book made me feel things soo passionately and that subjects can be tackled to make you think in a different way.
Roll on June, i need the next one as soon as i possibly can get it, until then i feel i may be jumping up and down with anticipation!
Falloir is the second book in the Passion Noire series and It all starts of where book one finished. The fact that it is told in the different pov of the main characters makes a refreshing change and adds to the overall story telling. Falloir has it all, hot sex, twists that leave you Shouting at the Kindle and of course the wonderful Veuve and Jones. The ENDING!!!!!!! Hurry up next book I can't wait JD you have done it again Fantastic read!
The characters in this book draw you in. With this, book 2 in the series, I felt like I was reading about people I know, not fictional characters which is testament to the strength of JDs writing. Now I just need to kidnap her and lock her away til she gives me part 3.
The ending of Valloir had me sitting on pins and needles waiting for this next installment to The Passion Noire Series. I have to say although this series is connected originally to J.D Chase's Rogue Passion Series, I believe that now The Passion Noire Series has surpassed it's origins and has become a unique and original eclectic mix of several different highly important topics that are sorely not discussed enough or recognised within the word we live in.
As a UK resident, I feel closer to this Series as a whole, like it's happening just outside of my own back yard where I can almost reach out and touch it, that's how life like and real J.D Chase is able to bring each of her characters to life. I feel so deeply for "The Kid" and my heart goes out to Veuve constantly. As for Jax... Hmm well that's just say he sounds like one hell of a guy!
So, we left the last book (Valloir) after finding out that Jax is in fact The Kids Uncle!!! Wow didn't see that one coming and the state of play regarding Jax and Veuve's "relationship" just got a he'll of a lot more complicated! Both agree that they need to focus on The Kid but both have different feelings as to how to do this, Jax wants to get as much information out of him as possible You can't blame him for all these years he has had nothing, no information about his sister when suddenly a whole walking encyclopedia of one has walked into his life worming his way into his heart long before he realised the family connection. But Veuve knows The Kid better than anyone else and tells him that this new information might trigger memories he is not ready to face and that he of all people should be able to understand PTSD.
Due to the fire at her apartment, Veuve and The Kid are temporarily going to stay with Jax but with his blonde hair and crystal blue eyes is it really a good idea? So far she had been able to contain her demons, her reactions to a minimum but with them all in such a tight space can she really make it through?
Things at Voulior although run as normal under her control still underneath the curtains hang in the balance given Thierri's illness, with his wicked sister calling the shots no one is able to gain access to him to find out his intentions regarding any of his holdings, the promises he has made to Veuve regarding the club and keeping "him" away from her life, behind bars to spare her any further pain from the life he tried to take from her, all this and the fact that Thierry's own sub who is more like a wife to him has suffered as well. Jax has said he will help her but to what cost? It is a dangerous mission, with ramifications no one could or can forsee if it goes wrong or even if it goes right...
There is much more going on in this second installment of the series and I could easily continue to write more and more about his novel as plot within plot veiled underneath lies, secrets, unrequited love and some especially complicated themes. I would like to praise J.D Chase for having not only the gutts to Base the Novel around a strong, sexual woman who has become a domme rather than the normal BDSM Novel regarding a Dom and his sub(s) it is highly refreshing. Not only this but she has highlighted some very important causes such as child kidnapping, trafficking and abuse but also PTSD in all forms, it is not just reserved for those who have been through wars fighting for their country, many have fought for their own lives in situations closer to home you dare not to think about as they are often the taboo's of society in a way.
The ending of Falloir was brilliant, unexpected and very well thought out, so far as a whole this series has been a huge Hut and I can't wait to read the final novel to come!
If you've read my review of the first book in the Passion Noire series, you know that I loved that book and I got really invested in the characters stories. Well, this second book didn't disappoint at all. Starting exactly where the first one finished, Falloir is even better than Vouloir. At least in my opinion. I loved getting sucked even deeper in La Veuve Noire's life and the people she cares about. This second book also had some more suspense which made it that much better for me.
One of my favorite parts of this book was getting more insight into the Kid and his past. I have to say that I had tears in my eyes for quite a big part of the book written from his POV. I loved seeing how little by little he opens more and more to the rest of the world. He fights to get past the hell he lived in as a teenager and at the same time he tries to get his family together again. The surprises that J.D. Chase threw in in that aspect and also with respect to the other characters were so unexpected that definitely kept me glued to the book and kept me invested in their stories.
It was quite interesting to read how things between La Veuve Noire and Jones develop. Both of them continue to be amazing and interesting characters. The chemistry between them is still off the charts and things between them just get more and more complicated. Even though they are both dominant, they have an undeniable connection that definitely rises the question how things will be solved between them. Me personally, I am rooting for them to find a way to be together. There is just something in Jones that I think will help Veuve to finally heal. He is this dominant, strong alpha male but he has this tender and softer side that makes him simply irresistible.
So yes, in a few words, this series is a must read. It is intriguing and interesting. The characters are amazing and at least in my case, I felt like they were real people, like they were my friends. And considering how this second part finished, I can't wait for the third book to be out. I do have some ideas what will probably happen but considering how many times I was surprised so far, I am probably wrong. So if you are looking for not your typical read, full with surprises and unexpected turns, with incredibly well developed and interesting characters, and of course superb writing, then you should read the Passion Noire series. I can guarantee that you won't be disappointed :)
This review was originally posted at Living In Our Own Story Book Blog. I received an ARC of the book in exchange of an honest review.
Because the cliffhanger here will have you throwing it against the wall!
I was worried that this second novel in the series was going to fall short of the first. I had nothing to worry about. La Veuve Noire and Jax Jones are back, continuing their quest to solve the mysteries that surround them. The past is murky and the tangled truth is not easy to decipher with block upon block placed in their path. They continue to fight their attraction for each other even as they band together to care for The Kid and keep him safe amidst the chaos created by their investigation. Veuve remains strong but her vulnerability rises to the surface as the nightmares she has never been able to shake return. Seeing her affection and protectiveness of the Kid reveals what is hiding behind her dominant personality. Jax again is the strong alpha not afraid to show his feelings as the answers he seek become tantalizingly within reach. Seeing his relationship with the Kid grow, and his feelings for Veuve intensify, made my heart just quiver.
The story moves forward as questions are answered and more are asked. This is a complex plot with equally complex characters brought together with a fresh voice that I could listen to forever. This anything but light-hearted read peels away the civilized façade of man to showcase the evil that exists. At the same time, we are heartened by the heroes that still live among us. Put it all together and you have a read that you will not want to put down! A stunning cliffhanger has me stalking the shelves for the next in the series! How could she leave it like this? How? Bring on book three stat!

What's left for me to say? I need more....NOW! And READ THIS ASAP! Highly recommend this truly genius book! 5 stars from me...
I have finally gotten round to reading this amazing follow up to Vouloir and after all the twists and turns of the first book I wasn't sure how it could be topped (Topped...Get it lol)...but it was....how I hear you ask? Well....if it's not the alternate Pov 's including The Kid's and let me tell you that in itself was heartwarming and so brilliantly done...it would be our strong feisty leading lady....or could it be Jones? Holy hotness he was amaaaazing....and some very witty one liners amongst the dark and gritty storyline...or is it Gabe or Dean? There is so much within these pages that it's hard to pick an outstanding person or scene amongst it all. A fascinating portrayal of dark disturbing subjects dealt with Immense knowledge and sensitivity that I have come to recognise from JD's work, I was gripped and am anxious for the conclusion as I'm frantically trying to piece it all together! Oh and by the way....another freakin cliffhanger....wouldn't you know it! Can't wait for more.......
I absolutely love a book with a bit of suspense and 'who done it' kinda storyline.
I'm also very picky about Book Boyfriends...Jones, by the way has been marked by me...MINE!!!
If you love more story and plot than sex scenes in your books, then this series is well worth a read. There is so much going on, you just don't want the book to end. The emotional rollercoaster between the two main characters, plus their devotion to 'The Kid' is overwhelming.
JD Chase is known for her cliffhangers and she hasn't changed tactics with this series either.
Absolutely brilliant!!! I will just find it hard waiting for the 3rd and final part...
RIGHT........ Now i've calmed down after figuratively smashing my kindle to bits after how this book ended i'll write my review about how amazing it was !! WOW just WOW !!!Such an amazing follow up to Vouloir carrying on where it left off. We get to learn more about Jones, The Kid and La Veuve Noire as more secrets are revealed and uncovered. I loved the way JD got into the mindset of The Kid when writing his pov's and she did an amazing job at interpreting how someone such as The Kid would think and act, she really showed the Kids naive and vulnerable sides. I'm now going to go and rock in a corner whilst i wait for Avoir to come out........
Oh my god. There's a reason that I try not to read a series until I can get my hands on all the books, and this is a prime example. I'm gonna be sitting waiting for JD to release the next book in the series. I love the characters in this book, each of them has something that is instantly likeable, well maybe not all of them for reasons which you can read for yourself. This book has it all in my view. I love the chemistry between Veuve and Jones and was beside myself with the will they, won't they in the book, again read for yourself if you want to find out. So, now all I can do is sit patiently waiting till I can one click the next book :)
JD has a way of pulling me in to her stories. This book was no different. There are many characters in the book but she keeps them well connected and there is never a dull moment. When I read the 4 POV's I really felt I was getting to know each one. Very well done. If you are reading this review then you have probably read the first book in this series. This one does not disappoint. There is more depth into their souls and a deeper storyline. No spoilers but I will just say I'm gonna need her to hurry up and get that last book written!!!
You will feel for all the characters and see the depth of each of them. You'll get to see their POVs again and enjoy watching them grow and discover their feelings.
There are a lot crazy things that happen in this installment. There's plenty of heat, passion, sexiness and appeal to draw you right back into this world.
Be prepared to be shocked at that ending! I can't wait for more!!!!
4 stars from me. I recv'd a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
FALLOIR picks up right where VOULOIR left off. Veuve and jones are stunned to realize that the kid is actually Jones' long lost nephew. Jones is ecstatic to discover he finally has a lead on his missing sister. From there, the story proceeds. Veuve continues to counsel Dean and her former sub get in on some action. FALLOIR ends with a cliffhanger and book 3- the conclusion will be one nail biting finish!
OMG I love Veuve and Jones and the Kid...there are just so many emotions that I just want to cry laugh scream I didn't expect the depth of character to be so well written. I read this immediately after finishing book 1 and now I need book 3 because damn you J D Chase for ending this one like that...ugh!!!
I finished this book weeks ago and still don't have adequate words to review it. So all i'm going to say is if you've read Vouloir then BUY THIS!!!!!! 5 stars is nowhere near enough, i inhaled this book in one sitting. Just buy the book!!!!
