Overnight Love is a novella that is tied to the Dead Heat Ranch series, but can be read as a standalone, and was originally published in the Cowboys Last All Night boxed set.
MacKenzie Catlay never expected a blind date to lead to one of the best nights of her life. She also never expected sparks to fly when she runs into the sexy cowboy who helped her evade the drunken guy she was supposed to meet.
Lucas Burch wasn’t looking for a woman when he finds himself coming to MacKenzie’s rescue. Twice.
But can Lucas look beyond the pain of his past and give in to her? And can Kenzie convince him that just because he doesn’t believe in love at first sight doesn’t mean they can’t welcome this overnight love?
New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Nicole Edwards spends her days stringing words together to make complete sentences. Sometimes not. Her best friend is coffee, and she has a love/hate relationship with sarcasm. She’s been accused of having a filthy imagination, which she admits is true.
Nicole lives in the suburbs of Austin, Texas. She proudly claims one husband, three grown children, and two bosses (better known as the dogs). When she isn’t writing, watching football or hockey, or keeping her bosses happy, you can probably find her with a book in hand.
I had to keep reminding myself that it was Nicole Edwards. Not nearly as steamy or taboo as what I've come to expect from her. Considering how short it is, I really enjoyed the characters. Very good.
so lovely!!!! although this is a too short novel, it is indeed a lovely one.
Kenzie find herself bored to death with loneliness... in her life is missing something... and after an very awkards blind date.... she meets the "one"... the true and only love at first sight :) so damn freaking thing called love just showing up in front of her.... and she falls all the way!
had a few hot scenes but not to much.... I like very much read this short story about Kenzie and Lucas, who is a cousin, of the girls from Dead Heat Ranch.
Overnight Love is a short quick read from Nicole Edwards, that is tied to her Dead Heat Ranch Series. Lucus is not looking for love when his path crosses MacKenzie's, not once but twice. Lucus becomes her hero, once, on the night of her blind date gone bad and then again in the days to come during a ice storm, helping her to get safely home. What neither Lucus or MacKenzie is ready for, is for their attraction to each other . During their night together waiting out the storm, they warm up their night in more than one way. In true Nicole Edwards' style, Overnight Love, has heat and passion. Ms. Edwards, makes Lucus and Mackenzie, fit together perfectly. They compliment each other's strengths and weaknesses. The only draw back of this book, is that it's too short. I would love to read more about this couple.
Just love them cowboys! What a fantastic novella! Kenzie is in a dating slump. Worse she ended up using a dating app. Now she is meeting someone who she has never seen and at a bar no less. While waiting this hunk of a cowboy sits next to her. Trying to ignore him was not easy. Next thing she sees is this drunken guy coming into the bar talking up the women and asking for Mackenzie. Well, she wanted to disappear. But for some reason the cowboy next to her helped her out. NOW WHAT?
This series is amazing and once you start reading it you will not be able to put it down.
It moves along at a great pace, has an amazing story and the characters are to die for.
This book needs to be on your TBR list, there is no doubt about it. You will not be sorry that you did. I was hooked on this series from the moment that I picked it up.
Nicole Edwards is a must read for me, I love her books and this one did not disappoint. Overnight Love was a great addition to the Dead Heat Ranch Series which include Boots Optional and Betting on Grace. This book is about Lucas (the Cousin of Grace) and Kenzie. Kenzie has inherited a ranch when her grandfather passed away and is living there for a little while and decided it's time to get out and meet someone...HAHAHA! I will say that was the best bar scene I have read in a while. The chemistry between the two is so quick it scares both of them. And this being a book by Nicole Edwards you know that there are some steamy scenes in it.
This book was originally published in the Cowboys Last All Night boxed set but can now be purchased separately. Enjoy, I know I did!!!
Things can happen when you are least expecting it. MacKenzie was not expecting Lucas Burch when she was waiting on a bar stool for her blind date. But after realizing that her blind date was a total disaster, Lucas stepped in to help her out. Little did he know that he would have to help her out not, once but twice in a matter a a few days. But once he spends some time with her, he realizes that he enjoys it. MacKenzie sparked something inside of him that he hasn't felt in quite some time.
Lucas needs to be able to let go of the past in order to enjoy the present. He can't hold MacKenzie accountable for something that she didn't do. He needs to learn how to trust again. How to open himself up to someone. Someone that could make him happy. But can someone make you happy when you only have known them for a brief period of time. Is there such a thing as love as first sight? Can you fall in love overnight? Is there such a thing?
I enjoyed this novella. It was a quick read I was left wanting more. I hope that we get a little more of this couple in the Dead Heat Ranch Series.
Very short and sweet. This is the rare Nicole Edwards book that I would say it doesn't matter if you've read any of her other books. Sure, all of her books can technically be read as stand alone books. I, personally, enjoy the experience of being deep in her fictitious world so love to read them all. Even if there's just a slight mention of another character in another series. Although this story takes place close to the Dead Heat Ranch, we don't actually have too much interaction with them.
I really enjoyed both characters. They both had no-nonsense attitudes and called each other on their crap. They reference "love at first sight" and have a conversation about how quickly they connected, which I appreciate. Due to the length of this book it is necessary to have insta-love, but it's nice that it's acknowledged.
Once again, Ms. Edwards does not disappoint. The only reason I'm keeping this to 3 stars is because I don't feel it left any lasting impression on me although I enjoyed the story as I was reading it.
I loved this short and sexy book! MacKenzie Catlay inherited her grandfather's small ranch in Embers Ridge. Her only company is her cat and regular visits by her mom, but she's not really missing big city life. Her mom does convince her to try an internet dating site, though, and Kenzie ends up at Marla's Bar. While waiting for her date to show up, Lucas Burch ends up on the barstool next to hers. He's big and sexy and all man! Rather than the guy she was supposed to meet, Kenzie ends up getting to know Lucas. He's not interested in meeting any women though - his ex-wife has destroyed his trust and he's staying away from females. But the chemistry is too great between these two, and life keeps bringing them together. This is a very short story, and although there isn't time to get to know either one in depth, I didn't feel anything was missing. Yes, its an insta-love kinda book, but sometimes things like that do happen!
Kenzie inherited her grandfather's ranch. Being a Houston city girl she doesn't mesh in the little town the ranch is in. With no friends she turns to the internet and schedules a blind date with a man. They are to meet at Marla's bar. She is so out of place there.
Once in the bar, in comes Lucas, sitting besides her, they are instantly drawn towards each other. After a few moments looking at this charming, sexy and mysterious man, a drunk man comes in asking for his blind date. Well Lucas to the rescue. There is a lot more of this man you will one to know. The rest you will have to read about, yes go one click it on amazon...
This is an instant romance, fast paced short story. One that as all other Nicole Edwards books is packed with sexy scenes, but also with very loving and suffering moments too. This one can be read as a stand alone. And you should not miss it, I couldn't put this one down until I was done with it.
I love this author's work. Her stories always leave me feeling satisfied that I have been given everything I want in a book. Well-rounded characters, heat between the characters, and a HEA. This story was no different, even though it was short. MacKenzie, Kenzie for short, and Lucas met at a bar where Kenzie was waiting for her blind date. Lucas came to her rescue when the blind date showed up off his face drunk. Both Kenzie and Lucas are not looking for a relationship so try to avoid each other. But sometimes, life has other ideas.
Kenzie inherits her grandfather's farm. She goes on a blind date but she meets Lucas at the bar. Lucas is divorced and he rescues her from her drunken date. When he keeps rescuing her, they get stuck together during an ice storm. Sex, hunky cowboy, and love overnight.
Fast paced hot and steamy novella. A chance encounter lead to Kenzie and Lucas finding their HEA. She was straight forward, spoke her mind and he was too long in the tooth to play games! Great short read highly recommended
Very cute read. Easy with not a lot of angst...and sometimes you just need that. Lucas was adorable. So afraid and scared to open up again...and Kenzie...I loved her character. Open, honest and really sweet. I kind of wish this was more than a novella because I really loved these characters.
Overnight Love is a quick, sexy read. Lucas and Kenzie have an instant connection and no hope in fighting it. I'm already a fan of Nicole Edwards writing, so I knew I'd enjoy this short and sweet novella.
Lucas & Kenzie met under not normal circumstances, but eventually ended up together forever. If you have not read this book you need to one click today.
