Shirlee McCoy is one of my favorite Love-Inspired Suspense writers; and, if I see her name on a book, I buy it and expect an enjoyable read. Still Waters, the first of The Lakeview Series, was written in 2004. Since that time, Ms. McCoy has written many good reads. In this book, Tiffany and Sheriff Jake Reed have to deal with some teen-aged punks who seem to think they are above the law. They begin to target Tiffany, her business, and her home creating a lot of tension and concern for her and Jake. This book is listed under Christian fiction, but it is not a "preachy" book. It's just a good, clean read that offers a great escape from reality at the end of a long day.

A refreshing Christian romance. Tiffany Anderson is smart and goodhearted and in lots of trouble! Despite insisting she can handle things herself, savvy and strong Sheriff Jake Reed can't help but keep an eye on this intriguing woman. Both of them have some emotional baggage to unpack and lessons to learn. With their faith and hearts being tested, both Tiffany and Jake must count on God to rescue them and point them in the right direction, but is it toward or away from each other?

This is my first introduction to Shirlee McCoy's writing and I am definitely going to search out and read more of her work!

Very Nicholas-Sparks. I personally wasn't a fan, but that's just because I don't like Nicholas Sparks. The antagonist being a spoiled rich teenage boy was weak, but otherwise it was an mildly intriguing story and a sweet couple. I love faith-based books, so otherwise good job.
Also, the sexual tension was weird and awkward. especially for a Christian book.

This was on my fiction weeding list and I noticed that McCoy's books shelved in Romance have been circulating well. Pleasant, predictable Christian romance / cozy romance located near Smith Mountain Lake and with references to Lynchburg, VA. I wouldn't call this suspense (see Novelist Subject headings) -- later books in the series may have a more ominous tone but this title doesn't reflect it. Also, the Novelist summary uses stronger adjectives ("uncontrollable," "terrorizing," "tragic") than I perceived -- for me, this story was...pleasant. Ex-boyfriend Brian was painted as too thoughtless and shallow, and Jake's vow not to get married was stated but not convincingly reflected in the plot.

I can't say I really enjoyed this book. It stated out with the main charactors in a trama 911... but I found myself no really all that into it. Over all I found it to be lack luster. It seemed to me that the writer was caught inbetween trying to figure out if these charactors were going to get it on or not. It had a God spin to it that I found to be some what predictable. It was a fast read. Don't know if I would recommend it to anyone... well, maybe people that are looking for a read that skims the surface of life.

This story was really sweet and normal....well normal for me, because usually im into weird - or rather i have a penchant for the weird and freaky, so this was a nice quiet break from the norm!
It wouldnt have been my first choice read, however due to chance or fate whichever you prefer, it appeared before me and I decided to give it a chance...

This book wasn't marked read and I didn't write a review but I definitely remembered reading it. This was an awesome story! Sheriff Jake Reed and Tiffany story was suspense filled and the beginning of the Lakeview series.

This book was recommended to me by my Mamma b/c the main character was like me. Same first and middle name, same curly hair but mine is brown, not red.

I read this book not knowing what to expect. Knowing it was a Christian read was a plus but I just didnt know what to expect. I enjoyed it.

I'm on page 164 and the word that comes to mind while reading this is tiresome. It is so contrived. It's not so much about a "gang of unruly teens" as it is about Jake and Tiffany's feelings for each other. I'm ditching this book; I've already wasted way too much time on it.
