the setup…
Meet the Season sisters…Summer, Autumn (she prefers Fall), Winter and Spring. Yes, their parents went there. They live with their grandmother Dolly in Mountain Laurel Cove who raised them after their parents’ tragic death twelve years ago. Summer is caretaker for the rental cottages in the Cove and is working on a plan to buyout the one next door before developers take it over and change the character of the town. Daniel Sutton is the new summer tenant, there with his eight-year old son Roman. Their first encounter is electrically charged and flirty but she has no idea that he’s one of the most famous hockey stars in the country. And things get even more dangerous when the pipes break in his cottage, leaving Daniel and his son with nowhere to stay…except the Season sister’s house.
the heart of the story…
For the most part, it’s an uncomplicated romance and was fun to see develop. Their initial denials were halfhearted at best and Summer was a breath of fresh for Daniel as she was attracted to him with no idea of his fame. But the elephant in the room as their relationship deepened was geography. He and Roman live in New York and Summer’s dream was the cottage in the Cove.
the narration…
Ava Erickson set the tone in the prologue as the voice of Faith Season, the mother of the sisters, and immediately drew me in. Callie Dalton & Sean Masters delivered wonderful performances, both as the voices for their characters and in the storytelling.
the bottom line…
I was looking for a sweet romance and found it in Summer and Daniel. He’s facing some tough career choices and she’s wondering if the fulfillment of hers is what she really wants. I got lost in their journey and enjoyed the romance, the connection between the sisters and the small town vibe.

This book was such a bright, feel-good read.
Daniel completely stole my heart as a devoted single dad, and I loved watching him fall for Summer. Their chemistry felt effortless, the banter was fun, and the way they fit into each other’s lives so naturally made their romance incredibly easy to root for.
One of my favorite parts was the sense of family woven throughout the story. Roman was absolutely adorable, and every scene with him put a smile on my face. Summer’s sisters and grandmother added so much warmth, humor, and charm, making the whole book feel cozy and inviting. The small-town setting and summery atmosphere only made it even more enjoyable.
While I would have loved a little more from the ending, it did not take away from how much I enjoyed the journey. This was a sweet, heartwarming romance filled with lovable characters, family moments, and plenty of charm.
I am already excited to read the rest of the Season Sisters series.

STORY ⇒ I "read" an ARC of this story way before the author so graciously provided an ALC and to say that I must have had joy radiating from my entire body from beginning to end is not even a little bit of an overstatement. I'm going to make three off-the-cuff statements I think best describe my experience. You ready?
Easy like Sunday morning.
Sunshine on a cloudy day.
Killing me softly.
The ease in which I fell into the story and remained "in it" was a thing of beauty that I honestly wish would happen more often than it does. The story was never not hopeful and uplifting and the love of it all was just easy even when it wasn't. Sit with that for a second. These two didn't just grow for each other in the story but also for me, in my heart and soul. I can't explain it. It was an extraordinarily beautiful thing.
There's a feeling of contentment, love & hope throughout every plot-point and circumstance. You can easily flip this story and make it much more "dramatic" than it was, but Summer deserved this kind of story and I am so proud of SL Scott for telling it like this. This woman keeps impressing me tenfold with every book she releases. You guys should really have her on your radar.

This was such a cute summer read! I loved the quirky names of the sisters, and as a sucker for the single dad trope, I couldn’t help but adore Roman and his relationship with his dad. Daniel is really trying to break his generational curse.
My biggest issue was that the romance felt a little too insta-love for my taste. It’s marketed as a fake dating romance, but the fake dating aspect barely lasted a moment before the relationship became something more. That said, the chemistry between the main characters was undeniable, and the spice definitely delivered.
I was fully expecting a third-act breakup driven by miscommunication, but I was pleasantly surprised when the characters handled things like actual adults and talked through their problems instead. It felt refreshing and made me enjoy the story even more.
Overall, this is the perfect quick, fun, and spicy summer read!

This was a really sweet story but it was definitely lacking something. While I did finish the book, I didn’t really feel a drive to keep going back to it like I usually do. There wasn’t much substance I guess. The story had a good amount of back story for Summer but not as much for Daniel. There were hints but we never got the full picture. I also wasn’t sold on the insta-lust.
I received an early ebook and audiobook from HambrightPR. I really enjoyed Sean Masters narration of Daniel but his female voice left a lot to be desired. I cannot say that I liked Callie Dalton at all. I found her narration grating and difficult to listen to.

I am definitely in the minority here, but this one was just not for me. Honestly the names being “Summer, Spring, Fall and Winter Season” almost made me dnf immediately but I continued.
I didn’t connect with the characters at all and as soon as they met there was sexual comments and insta love which I wasn’t enjoying.
I wish the author the best in their future endeavours.

What a great way to start the summer!
Daniel Sutton is spending the summer with his son, Roman. He needs some time away from the city where his game is in trouble. The cottage is being taking care of by Summer Season (cutest names). Who has no idea who he is.
All she knows is that he's handsome, a great dad and that the cottage he's staying at is in trouble. Summer is desperate for this to work out, she has plans for the place. So she offers her home. That she shares with her sisters and Dolly, her grandmother. What could go wrong?
It's such a sweet novel. Summer is the oldest Season sister and is a caretaker by nature. While she takes care of everything, does she have time for anything else? Like all small towns options become limited.
I loved the slowish pace between Daniel and Summer. Honestly the true get together kinda snuck up on me. I was thinking both characters were feeling/acting a different way and then BAM!
These are two people in totally different places. Summers trying to build something at home and Daniel's trying to keep what he has. I was honestly like... how in the world will this work out!!!
I loved the sisters. And Dolly and all the small town antics. I'm hoping that we're getting all the sisters later on.

First of all, I'd like to thank the author and Hambright PR for sending me this book in exchange for an honest review. I'm always grateful for an ARC, and everything said below is my words and opinion.
Okay let's get into it!
This book was such a cosy summer feeling, I loved it once I got the hang of it.
I loved the chemistry between all the characters in the book, and as someone who isn't a huge small-town romance lover, this was beautiful and so comfy. Summer's relationship with everyone, scratch that, Summer's personality as a whole? She's just a wonderful human being and literal sunshine summer ball.
Daniel was amazing to read as well, his character was basic in a good way. I loved how he was with Summer; it made me smile and giggle. Roman was so fun, but I think his age confuses me a little; he's not talking the age I think he is. I don't remember much of it, but I remember questioning it. But then again, I suppose all kids are on different levels lmao! Also, like I usually say, if I love the characters (which I did), I can overlook the plot.
Speaking of the plot. I enjoyed it. Did it feel kind of too much (for me)? Yes, it did for me. I expected more, hence I can't categorise it in the five star range. Another reason I couldn't place it in the five star range was because of the insta love, I'm not a fan of it at all. One of the reasons why it took me a while to finish it.
In the beginning, I was kind of turned off; it felt a little too fast. However, once I carried on, it picked up, and I ended up liking it more than I expected to. Fast starts, like this book, are not fun, and people put it off easily (luckily, I didn't for this one, but usually I do).
I recommend giving this book a try, even if, after a couple of chapters, it feels kind of confusing and too fast. Just give it a chance, because I ended up liking it. But for the author, I recommend avoiding the sorta insta love; there were good opportunities for Daniel and Summer to fall for each other slowly.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book a lot, especially the characters and the dynamic. I recommend reading this now, since it's hot and the weather does fit this mood very much lol.

DNF at 32%
I honestly should’ve DNFed after learning that names of the FMC Summer’s sisters are Spring, Winter… and FALL. And that their last name is Season… so Spring Season?? It’s just a little too on-the-nose for a contemporary romance novel imo
I also didn’t like the combination of instalove (in chapter 2, IMMEDIATELY after setting eyes on him) and “will they, won’t they”. The FMC outwardly says “oh we need to keep things professional”, but then the next line she’ll have internal dialogue about how “he’s so attractive, it’s just so natural to be attracted to him, I feel so connected to him, does he feel this connection too, it feels like I’m his” just bc he’s apparently the first “interesting guy in her age range” to step into this small town?? AND she’ll explicitly flirt with him… the indecision is giving me whiplash tbh.
It just felt like the romance was incredibly rushed with no substantial progression and the FMC was constantly circling through these hypocritical thoughts with no decision-making demonstrated. I wasn’t feeling connected to any of the characters, wished I saw more of the side characters, and honestly found the FMC quite annoying bc of her circular thinking patterns and behaviors.

I was lucky enough to have the arc and the alc of this book and it was such a lovely cute immersive read, so light and a beautiful summer read.
The story of Summer and Daniel is cute, Daniel who is on holiday with his son in the cottage that Summer manages and as soon as they meet sparks start to fly and things start to happen neither of them expected.
The story is a lovely relaxed easy read with lots of sparkly bits 😜 well worth it if you are after a nice light read, the audio is a great addition to the story also

I was lucky enough to have the arc and the alc of this book and it was such a lovely cute immersive read, so light and a beautiful summer read.
The story of Summer and Daniel is cute, Daniel who is on holiday with his son in the cottage that Summer manages and as soon as they meet sparks start to fly and things start to happen neither of them expected.
The story is a lovely relaxed easy read with lots of sparkly bits 😜 well worth it if you are after a nice light read, the audio is a great addition to the story also

IDK who let S.L. Scott come out here with this amazing book!!! Whoever let her, understood the assignment!!! She literally gave us the man that almost every girly pop would love to be in love with! There is something about those men that women write that always have that something.
Lemme just say that Daniel was EVERYTHING! If Daniel was real I would be all over him like peanut is on jelly sammiches! I mean who doesn't love a giant hockey player? AND he's grumpy? SIGN ME UP! (Just don't tell my husband ;) I can't leave out his golden retriever side, along with the super soft spot he has for his son! He had fame and pressure from every turn there was, but that doesn't mean he would let just anyone into his life! His little boy quite literally melted my heart at every single turn! I couldn't help but have alll the feels!
Summer was such a great FMC to love all throughout this book. She made it so easy to love her! She loved her town and the little cottage that she lived in. She wasn't one ot be under the fame spell when it came to Daniel. She didn't care that he was famous or had a ton of money. She was the most heartfelt person who put her heart into everything she did!
Daniel and Summer had the most enigmatic chemistry that I could feel just rolling off of the pages as they came! I couldn't help but feel these feelings! I would be amiss if I didn't sasy that every single point of touch, every glance and the quiet moments they shared made me squee and kick my short legs in happiness. These little moments are the ones that you think back to years later when you reminisce about the past. They would definitely know those were the moments that clenched their feelings for each other!

First off, I love Dolly and wish she were mine. I love a good side character.
The MMC, Daniel, was a yummy single dad taking his son to a quiet small town for the summer....and just happens to be a pro hockey player. Summer is a fun character. She knows what she wants and is trying to make it happen all while trying to help her family out. She runs the cottage he's renting and we have insta-lust between them. It is a fast moving relationship (maybe not realistic but definitely entertaining) with great banter and chemistry. Daniel may be rocky with looks to kill, but Summer is quick witted and doesn't let him off easily.
🏒 Lines:
Weekends are for rest, walks of shame, and causing a little chaos. Not work.
Saturdays are for sleeping in and daydreaming.
One taste and you'll never go back to the ordinary.
"I feel dumb."
"I'm sure it will pass. It always does for me."
What others think doesn't matter, Summer. Live life how you want. Do what makes you happy. We only get one shot at this. Might as well go for it.
"Is it wrong to be this excited to wreak havoc on people I thought I could trust?"

Daniel is in the small town of Mountain Laurel Cove, to get out of the city and get back to the free summer feeling he had when he was younger. His hockey career is in termoil. He has been told to clean up his act or retiring would be in hands of others not his.
Summer Season works in the small town Mountain Laurel Cove, and managing a few rental houses near her house. She is the eldest of the Season sisters-she has three younger one's. Their grandmother raised them after their parents died. Summer wants to keep her small town, small. She doesn't want the big developers coming in a tearing down the houses / building large buildings. She wants to keep things how they have been.

This was so stinking cute. I actually really liked all the sisters names and the entire play on that. Very original, It was absolutely perfect. Loved the premise of this story. It was just a feel good read.. loved Dolly (grandma) and the banter and innuendos was so funny! This is filled with charm, family moments, and an undeniable connection that is just irrisistable. The characters are loveable and I'm always a sucker for single parent trope.
I was fully expecting the third act breakup and that didn't happen. This was full of communication, support, and understanding. The issues that happened were realistic and they were handled was top tier!
Why this isn't higher for me? I felt like their relationship progressed super fast. It went from a fake dating possibility to love. While I thought this was well written I just would of preferred a slower burn on that front! I still really enjoyed this but I wish it would of been one or the other and not a quick transition (personal preference)
Will I read the next one? With how this ended? Yes. Cuz if you know you know and I need to know 😂 the sprinkle of mystery got me!

I loved how the small town actually felt like a part of the story instead of just a backdrop. The book does a great job showing how much a single building can mean to someone and the lengths people are willing to go to protect what matters to them.
The main characters were adorable, and I really enjoyed their relationship. But Roman and Dolly might have been my favorite duo in the entire book. I loved their bond with the couple and every scene they were in.
I do have one question for Summer’s parents, though. What were they thinking when they named their children? Summer, Spring, Autumn, and Winter. And if that wasn’t enough, their surname is Season. Yes. Their names are literally Summer Season, Spring Season, Autumn Season, and Winter Season. Help—

I love Summer and her family. The tragedy they lived through has made them stronger as a unit, and I love how they encourage each other in their dreams. Dolly, Summer's grandma, is such a hoot, and I'm excited to see more of her as the series continues.
Daniel is at a crossroads in his hockey career. He's getting older, but not quite ready to hang up his skates. I loved his summer retreat with his adorable son, Roman, to spend time with him away from the city. This man fell fast and hard for Summer, which then made him really think through what is most important to him in life, mostly that hockey might not be as important anymore.
This was a great start in this small town, and I'm excited to see what the future holds.

These two came together so effortlessly that it made you just smile through majority of this story. I loved how easy Summer fit in with Daniel and his son, and the same for them with her family. But it seems like Daniel had lots of decisions to make regarding his career and also about how this relationship will work long distance.

I love a hockey daddy especially one that’s whipped as hell for the fmc and literally the definition of a gentle giant. Daniel Sutton was gone for Summer Season the second they met, and the flirty banter was soo good. He’s the new summer tenant for the cottage she runs in her small town and Summer tries so hard to remain professional but the forced proximity hits so hard when he’s forced to live with her due to the cottage washrooms being out of order. I also love a good little bit of fake dating but they quite literally fake dated so hard that they real dated just a chapter after they started faking dating, because Daniel could not help himself and couldn’t hide his feelings to save his life. Roman, Daniel’s son, was also such a sweet addition and I was all over how cute he was. My only problem was the ending, the last 50 pages was just a whole load of them being sad doing long distance and not communicating about it. They do have a happy ending it just felt very off and anticlimactic. I did love most of the book though, the summery vibes got me wishing it was summer already and the humour was on point. I give this a 4/5

Where is the love? It certainly wasn’t in the room with us here. The insta-love reasoning was clearly cut during edits, because there was no chemistry or yearning here.
The quirkiness of the Season sister names, along with Dolly was the most interesting part of this book. Roman was cute as well.
Sean Masters is excellent in the narration game, but I strongly disliked Callie Dalton’s voice, which definitely played into this rating. This may be better as digital or paper, I would not recommend reading on audio.

This was such an easy, feel-good summer read. If you’re in the mood for a charming small town, a swoony hockey player, an adorable single dad and a romance that unfolds naturally, I’d definitely recommend giving this one a try.
I really enjoyed watching Summer and Daniel’s relationship grow. Their chemistry felt genuine and Roman completely stole the show more than once. Dolly was another favorite and added so much warmth to the story.
S.L. Scott’s writing made this one so easy to fly through. It had a great mix of sweet moments, family and romance that kept me swooning. I would’ve loved just a little more emotional depth in a few spots, but overall it was such a fun, cozy read and perfect for summer.

A big-city hockey player and his son head to a small town for the summer, and what follows is a sweet, heartwarming romance filled with emotional moments and plenty of swoony scenes.
I really enjoyed the small-town charm, the family dynamics, and watching the relationship develop. While there were a few emotional moments that tugged at my heartstrings, there were also plenty of lighthearted moments that kept me smiling.
Overall, this was a cozy, comforting read that was easy to get lost in and perfect for when you’re looking for something sweet and feel-good.

DNF @50%
Unfortunately, this is my second DNF from this author. Just like the previous book I tried, the writing wasn’t the problem, the story simply didn’t hold my interest.
The insta-love happened too quickly, and the relationship progressed so fast that I never felt invested in the romance. The communication was also frustrating, with the characters constantly talking in circles instead of actually resolving anything.
By the 50% mark, I wasn’t connected to the characters or the story, so I decided to call it quits. Sadly, this author’s books just don’t seem to work for me.
