Milena McKay is my favorite author and every single time I read a new book of hers, that fact is cemented. Wow. Not only was this an amazing story, it was so freaking clever. The amount of research and the way Milena ties everything together in this series is nothing short of genius. I don’t know how to describe it. She uses Greek mythology but has modernized it in so many brilliant ways. For example, it is a brief mention but in my opinion definitely one that was made for a reason, she mentions the muse of Justice not being located/seen for a long time 👀👀👀👀. It’s attention to small details that I love.

Match Me If You Can was a refreshing take on Hera. It was nice to see another side of her Milena does a stellar job at redeeming her and explaining why she is the way she is. Because it is hard to like Hera in the traditional sense. But in the Milena McKay-sense, she’s a misunderstood goddess that actually cares a lot about her family and found family. Nemesis is another person who is misunderstood. Their pairing is perfect due to this and so many other reasons that is evident throughout the story.

The author has created such an impressive and dysfunctional found family of misfits. Every single novella in this series has been fantastic. I love the universe and I’m hoping there is more to come!

ARC REVIEW
Single 3rd Person POV. 5🌟 2🌶️. 136 pages
3 Spicy Scenes

I was a bit apprehensive about reading Hera’s story, because let’s be honest she wasn’t pleasant in books 2 or 3. Although I quickly realised that I shouldn’t have been worried in the slightest, Milena McKay has outdone herself once again and I am completely obsessed with this novella.

Hera the goddess of matrimony, the scorned woman & often portrayed as the villain, stole my heart in this book and so did her paramour Nemesis. The chemistry between both these women was unmatched, one who sought vengeance and acceptance, and one that sought the other’s heart.

MMIYC is another laugh-out-loud, heartwarming and enthralling read. Filled with witty banter, meddling goddesses and Cupids, a narcissistic asshole ex-husband and a romance that will have you fanning yourself. You will always be in safe hands when it comes to a McKay universe book, although you’ll also be subjecting yourself to tears of all kinds (I’ve cried at all 4 of these novellas), but you’ll never be bored and I can promise you’ll never want to put the books down.

Match Me If You Can will be released July 17th, don’t wait around go start the series in preparation for its release. You won’t want to miss this book!

Ps. I now have a crush on all of the goddesses mentioned in this series 🤤 and after that ending with a hint towards Clio and Artemis, I’m going to need another book!

Milena pulls together a twisted plot within mythology crafter through a different lens and with such creativity.

Hera – The Goddess of Matrimony, Family, Childbirth. The Empress of Olympus. Seen as frigid, vengeful, and evil. The villain. Go figure, but figure it out you will. Milena makes sure of it. Enter the Goddess of Vengeance, where revenge, upon a request – is imminent. Certain. Declared. Or, in this case – A deal. And if you want to change your mind…because something, well someone, with the scent of gunpowder turns everything you believed upside down, it may be to late. “It’s not your fault.” Her fingertips caressed the sharp jaw, the chiseled cheekbones, the long lashes trembling with tears. “Don’t cry. It’s not your fault. I knew what I was doing.” A contract beyond that of the deal made with Vengeance, seeks the beat of a Goddess.

Beyond revenge, now lies regret.

A Queen of Spades is drawn, then, A Queen of Clubs followed by the Queen of Diamonds. But what will come of the Queen of Hearts? I know, but don’t you want to find out?

This book was so much fun! It’s lighthearted, spicy, and kind of hilarious. It’s the 4th book in the series but can be read as a standalone.

Hera and Nemesis are a very unexpected couple. They’re pretty much a grumpy x grumpy pairing and it was fun to read about how the other characters reacted to them together. I liked that they both had attitudes that said “I don’t particularly care for most people but I do like you very much.”

I also thoroughly enjoyed Hera’s growth throughout the book. The way she learned to live for herself instead of being willing to die for someone else was an unexpectedly powerful message for the series.

This book is the perfect fun, summer read. I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a quick, lighthearted, spicy, ice queen romance. Thanks so much to Milena McKay for the ARC in exchange for an honest review!

Myths, matches and more

The 4th instalment of Milena’s Cupids and Goddesses series and they’re only getting bigger as we dive deeper into the world of the Greek myths.

The Empress of Olympus meets her match when she calls upon Vengeance herself to enact her final act of revenge upon an unsuspecting Zeus.

Tap your leg in nervous anticipation, laugh out loud with mischief, roll your eyes in exasperation, and cry your tears when the inevitable hits.

Hera and Nemesis are a match you don’t want to miss.

For those unfamiliar with the series, it’s a modern take on the gods and goddesses of Olympus and the many Muses, Cupids, and creatures that surround them. Set against the backdrop of today’s world, they juxtapose humour and romance with Mila’s signature narratives of empowered women taking back control of their lives.

When Mila fires that literary arrow, she always hits the target

Hera, Empress of Olympus, is done with being belittled by her ex-husband Zeus; she’s ready to fight back! A deal with the Fates has her bargaining her heart and soul for revenge. Queue Nemesis, Goddess of Vengeance, and we have a pretty steamy sapphic modern-day retelling. Packed with a bucket load of gods, goddesses, muses, and cupids, not forgetting revenge, all interlaced with a side of humour … and singing bears!

The world building is exquisite, the mythology twist brilliant, and totally loveable main characters even if one is Nemesis! A perfectly paced book which I devoured this novella in one sitting, and the ending suggests there is more to come; she says, hoping!

Milena Mckay does it again! The Cupids & Goddesses series is what introduced me to her work after stumbling across the audiobooks, the first three of which I devoured in a single day, and so now I have a soft spot for them. Hera and Nemesis were an interesting couple, with Hera obviously not being the most likeable of side characters in the previous books (and her being Hera) and Nemesis only just being introduced in passing in book 3 and having a chapter in the Fairylights anthology. Ended up loving them and loving this novella. Needed more Abby tho.

this author never disappoints

I have read several books by this author and always found them to be strong stories with complex and amazing characters. When I started these Greek novelettes I did it as a break from other authors, just for fun. But they are much more than that. They are full of information about Greek mythology which is fun to read. But also romance, hot women and great sex. I think this book is my favorite, but they are much more enjoyable if read in order. Enjoy!,

Absolutely Amazing

It was that good. It truly is a talent to craft a beautiful love story in so few pages. I know it is a romance novel, but for a second the last chapter had me. Left me shedding tears at the prospect of it ending. I will be rereading as soon as the audiobook comes out. Very well done Milena McKay

A Fun Romp

Novellas don't have to be complicated or profound. They can be a fun romp through amusing romantic escapade. This one is all four....and you don't even notice it's teaching you something while you're having fun reading. Try it.
