This is such a sweet story, after the original incident.
Heroine is at a party and overhears her boyfriend talking about her, he's drunk and really embarrasses her.
I wasn't sure how a Hero could come back from that but as its a series based on grovel I thought let's see if the author can do it.
Although the boyfriend regrets his actions I'm pleased to say there is a new beau.
The book deals with adult mutism.
The heroine after the betrayal is physically unable to speak.
While this was interesting in itself I thought that for the former boyfriend to be met with silence to his apologies and pleading was more powerful than all the ranting I had going on in my head.
And the added bonus is how well matched and hilarious the beware Hero is.
I thoroughly enjoyed this.
No intimate details other than the heroine and her new man.
HEA.

April, the Odd Ones…

I love this series. There is so much emotion and depth in each of these women, and April has now become one of my favorite characters of all time. She is not me, but there are universal emotions that I believe many women experience. Will I ever be enough for someone? Will I ever be loved even though I don’t think I’m pretty enough, or worthy?

April experiences selective mutism, something that most of us have never heard of. Her childhood must have been painful, with a mother who didn’t seem to care about her very much. She disappeared into herself as protection, and she had to unlearn those kinds of destructive behaviors. She has a therapist that understands her and is able to help her.

Bramwell is a beautiful man and he’s very easy to love. His family is just like him and I found myself eager to see their next appearance.

This is an absolutely beautiful and wonderful story. I can’t recommend it enough because it is so well done and you can totally immerse yourself in it. I love this story and the whole series, actually. These women are amazing…

Angst = h has had a traumatic life. She tends to go mute when confronted with triggers of her past traumas (selective mutism). She so desperately wants to be better and she works so hard to get to a better place.

OM drama = h's boyfriend says som really degrading and humiliating things about the h to all their co-workers at a party. The h hears it all, walks away and goes into her trauma mutism. The BF/OM was apologetic but he also kept trying to force the issue with the h further causing her retreat. OM tried groveling, but he was just not it!!

h comes across the H who is the bestest golden retriever boyfriend the h could have ever had. The H does not treat the h lesser due to her issues, the H is nothing but rainbows and sunshine for the h.

April and Bramwell

A bit slow to start... but the building of the story to come, well worth the time invested to read. My heart broke for April. I had never heard of selective mutism before. But I understand about going quiet when people need to voice their opinion, or just generally run their mouth. And don't know when to shut up. Been there, it's hard to talk when you turn to ice on the inside and freeze everything
you hear, like it doesn't touch you or impact the heart of you. Then the walls start to build.
I just wanted to hug April and tell her she is so wonderful and so worthy of being loved.

A few things needed some revision. Bram’s mom’s name was Celeste, then later it was Alice.

Also, felt like the whole rock, geologist bit was way overdone, took away from the actual book. I don’t think anyone, rock obsessed or not, would talk like that or to that extent. Unfortunately, made the book feel less realistic, harder to buy into.

That being said, I love the general plot of the book, overheard trope, touching on sensitive topics like selective mutism, mental illness.

April

I love this book. I love how April realizes she deserves to be loved how she is. Bram is by far my favorite character of Groveldoll's books. He's patient and SEES her, which I feel is important for April. I feel like this book gives you hope that you can be loved they way you are.

April's story was heartbreaking and beautiful. After hearing what her boyfriend really thinks about her she has to fight to literally find her voice again. The MMC is pure golden retriever and exactly what she deserved. Live this entire series but April absolute is a standout and favorite.

Not Just A Love Story

Its a story full of pain, deep feelings, and healing. Introduces mutism, which author has researched or has knowledge of. A new way of viewing silence..and love. I do feel sorry for the character who got left behind.

My heart broke for April when she overheard Ellis say how terrible their sex life was. Ellis somehow managed to change my mind about him over the course of the book.
