Stranded!Bear Creek sheriff's deputy Matt White is used to being the rescuer, not the rescued. But now the hurt lawman's marooned on Catherine Poole's remote homestead. Lacy Williams wishes her writing career was more like what you see on Hallmark movies: dreamy brainstorming from a French chateau or a few minutes at the computer in a million-dollar New York City penthouse. In reality, she’s up before the sun, putting words on the page before her kids wake up for the day. Those early-morning and late-night writing sessions add up, and Lacy has published fifty books in almost a decade, first with a big five publisher and then as an indie author. When she needs to refill the well, you can find Lacy birdwatching, gardening, biking with the kiddos, or walking the dog. A very sweet, clean read. Matt and Catherine's love develops over the course of the story which is nice to see. I like to mix things up in my reading, so this was a pleasant change.
Series Wyoming Legacy book#6"Her Cowboy Deputy by Lacy Williams
Bear Creek is a small town and has one couple with a heart of gold loving children. They take in and make them family all are brothers and one sister. Matty White is one of the ones that was lucky enough to get taken in whe his parents died leaving him alone. Catherine was not that lucky, she lives outside of town with her grandpa in a soddy. She has always had to work hard and does not trust anyone. A very bad storm throws these two together...Catherine has a good heart and offers help to the deputy when he is hurt. Their time together helps each to remember the days of childhood when they knew one another for a short while. Isolation has turned Catherine into a different woman then most and she wears mens clothes and works the land from daylight to dark Lacy brings a wonderful story from these two and you don't want to miss it.
I really liked this book! It was my first book in this series, but now I really want to read the previous ones. I think that reading the series in order might help with all the characters, because it did get confusing at times. But still I'm looking forward to reading the rest of Matty's family romances.
This was a really sweet romance. I liked that Matty and Catherine's relationship wasn't easy. They had to work through some issues throughout the book and that made it even more realistic. I also loved how this books transported me back in time and gave me a glimpse of Wyoming.
3.5🌟 This was my first Lacy Williams' read, and I enjoyed the sweet romance between Catherine and Matty. It didn't matter that I missed the first six books in the series. I was never confused, and the book stood fine on its own.
I listened to the audiobook, and I mostly liked the narrator, although I don't care for it when female narrators try to sound like a guy. It almost never works.
Robin’s Ratings 5🌟 = Out of this world. Amazing. Unforgettable. A personal favorite. 4🌟 = Excellent read. Couldn’t put it down. Will recommend to others. 3🌟 = Liked it. Glad I read it. Engaging/entertaining. 2🌟 = The book was okay, but I’ve enjoyed other books so much more. 1🌟 = For whatever reason, I didn’t like it and can’t recommend it.
Such a great book! I love romance books so this was perfect for me. I especially loved it because it was such a great heartfelt love story but it was also clean! I love romance stories but it is often hard to find one that does not have a lot of sex in it. This story was awesome. I look forward to reading a lot more of her books.
When Lacy started writing books for the Harlequin Historical genre, I started reading her books. I have read all of them & this one did not disappoint. She is a great writer & a must read if you love cowboys. Keep up the great work Lacy. I will be waiting for your next title.
Matty White is the Sheriff's deputy. A thunder storm/tornado ripper through the town and surrounding areas. The Sheriff sent his men out to check on the people, making sure they were okay.
As Matty rode his horse, he spotted someone that looked suspicious on the other side of a river. With the amount of rain that fell, the river was swollen. He tried to find a way over, but the rushing water threw him from his horse and he couldn't get to shore.
Catherine observed the man in the river and saved him. She took him to her home where it was apparent he had broken his collar bone. His horse was no where in sight.
Catherine cared for Matty. Catherine's grandfather - did not like strangers on his land. Her grandfather was showing signs of age and his mind reliving the war.
Catherine and her grandfather were isolated with no close neighbours except for two brothers. One of which harassed Catherine - wanting to marry her. She was adamant "NO".
Catherine's growing up years hadn't been the best - she was teased at school
Matt White, a new deputy of three months, is out checking on the townsfolk who have experienced a severe hail storm. Unfortunately, he is injured, and Catherine Poole finds him near her doorstep. Unfortunately, she has no way to get him back to town, and Matt is too injured to walk, so he stays in the soddie where Catherine and her grandfather live.
Mr. Poole is dealing with dementia, and Catherine is taking care of him and the small plot of land they own. Matt soon learns that Catherine must take care of the farm and avoid a neighbor's unwanted attention. She is in an unsafe situation, and he must return to town soon. Catherine stays away from neighbors, and when Matt wonders why she avoids telling him of her shame -- that she is the product of unmarried parents.
Frankly, this story plodded along and was pretty dull.
Wind River Hearts – A total of 16 Books 10. Her Convenient Cowboy (2015) ** 11. Her Cowboy Deputy (2015)
Matty, the sheriff’s deputy, is nearly swept away in the fast moving creek. But he’s rescued by Catherine and brought to the small soddy where she lives with her grandfather. Catherine’s past hurts have made her avoid town and any nearby neighbors.
As Matty recovers on her homestead he realizes that she does have reason to fear and he vows to protect her and her grandfather. He also recognizes Catherine as the quiet girl that he used to torment in school. She still seems to hold a grudge. However, he doesn’t count on falling for her.
This was a sweet read. I have been reading through the series, and I will say this was not my favorite book in the series. I felt that the action and romance moved a bit slowly at times. But overall, it’s a fun cowboy story with some romance.
If you are a follower of this series then you should know that Matty's story is just as well told as the rest of the White families love stories. If this is your first book, it is a good stand alone book but much better if you do read the series. I am glad I found the writer and series.
Catherine remembers feeling shamed as a poor child of a single mother. Matty remembers the fear of being left alone when his parents die suddenly from a contagious illness. Lacy Williams weaves an endearing story of families with secrets, fears, hurts, love and kindness .
He dated a girl all his life. She broke it off. A deputy checking for people needing help after a storm. A flash flood, crazy neighbors, and his saviour, the girl now woman he and his girlfriend broke in their youth. But that was then...what will he do now. Highly recommended for all readers.
I'm totally enjoying this series and getting to know all the White siblings. Theirs is a big family that it's fun to read about. I really enjoyed reading Matty and Catherine's story and all the things they had to go through to get to their HEA. A captivating read that I read straight through.
Beautiful story. Matty and Catherine's story is beautiful. She did annoy me on occasion but then one has to consider her past and upbringing to understand her behaviour at times. But ... love never fails. Beautiful ending. I liked Pop. I couldn't relate to Matty's big family. That seemed overwhelming. Overall, lovely, clean story. Enjoy!
Love reading about this family and all the siblings and their journeys to find love! This is Matty's turn! Lots of twists and heartache mixed in, but the Lord watched over them all! Wonderful tale! Great read!
Another one of Lacy William's amazing reads. I am enjoying following the Jonas family, each story different, each exhibiting the lifestyle you would expect from one being raised in this family. I would highly recommend this book.
Love the young girl in this story, she is so strong and independent. I liked how Ms. Williams brought into her story an elderly veteran from the Civil War and dementia. And as always love that you can romance anywhere even in soddy.
What a great series. Catherine is a loner, she stays on her homestead with her grandfather. But when a cowboys falls into an overflowing river, their lives change. Good clean romance.
This is a great historical western romance complete with a hunky cowboy who woos and protects as he gives new hope to his lady. The story has plenty of excitement to keep things interesting.
I really enjoyed this storyline and the characters being used. It was funny and serious at the same time. I really enjoyed this and would share it with anyone else.
I am really enjoying this series - Wind River Hearts. They are very easy reading and great that the characters carry over into other books in the series. Highly recommend them.
Matty and Catherine’s story is a special one for sure. That barn raising was the best day for sure!! And when his brother Seb was camping out on her property was probably the second best.
Such a wonderful, clean, sweet story! It’s a series so it’s definitely fun to see another brother find his HEA! Now where and when he has expected, though.
A compellingly inspiring story of life in a small town out west. A suspenseful story where adventure and action is on every single chapter. The characters were very interesting and the storyline keeps the readers on the edge of their seats.
sweet romance with some serious topics woven perfectly into the story. enjoyed reading how Matty won over Catherine. love is a powerful force that can overcome many things.
Once again, Lacy Williams has drawn me in to sit amongst her characters and enjoy witnessing their friendships, disagreements and their falling in love.
I love when the Author brings me along for the adventure!
