This might be the first time I didn't root for either couple in a romance, but Solana and Zaylee honestly both seemed to have no spine. Allowing a man to treat you terribly because he's mad you won't have his baby while he's in jail and sleep with your cousin, but the D is good, so you enthusiastically welcome him back in your bed is peak bird-brained behavior. Solana sleeping with Marlo, a man who has a girlfriend he supposedly doesn't mess with anymore but seemingly refuses to leave, is also bird behavior. Both of them were stupid, so I wasn't invested in either relationship.
Marlo and Mikael are brothers working on being better than they were raised. Mikael gets sent away for almost 10 years and comes home to take his place as co-owner of their towing company. Marlo has a family with a cougar that should have been arrested a long time ago since he was a minor when they started dealing. The plot twists were twisting and the storyline was on point.
The author has a great talent, but either she doesn’t have an editor or they don’t like her because there were mistakes all through the book. I pushed through to the end but it was touch and go for a few days.
It was so many things wrong with this book that I don’t know where to begin. The thing that drove me the most crazy was the lack of editing. Like for real, whoever did the editing or didnt do the editing should be fired! It literally was some type of mistake in every other paragraph. I’m talking about wrong names, typos and missing words. Just trifling!!! Then, the characters were all dysfunctional. I felt like I was reading about a bunch of middle schoolers. All kinds of secrets, lack of communication and just blatant disrespect. The male characters called the women they love more b*tches to their face than their enemies. Then sleeping with your girl’s cousin was as low as you can go. Then the women were so thirsty behind these trifling men that they constantly let them slut them out. Now, I know that I’ve read other books of Ni’ssan before but baaaaby, this one right here is trash. If this was my first introduction to her books, I would never read another one.
This was 400 pages of pure dysfunction, abusive behavior, chaos, and trauma dumping.
Aside from the consistent grammar errors, this story was full of every storyline you can imagine. Because of the gumbo approach to character development and storytelling, there were TOO many unnecessary moments.
Too many times I wondered why was certain things mentioned or how was it moving the story forward?
I wasn’t a fan of the MMCs, each were abusive to their love interests. And the other was in a whole relationship/ situationship for more than 70% of the story. Also- why didn’t we get clarity over that moment between Mikali and Fallon? What was that?
This was a mess. Yet I had to finish to see if either MMC would actually redeem themselves. Instead the women did the typical trope of making everything wrong in their relationships by having a baby.
Yikes! I’m looking forward to the day that logic is retired from romance novels.
If you love a messy read, which I do, you will be entertained. Which I was but I also was annoyed by the misspelling incorrect use of a word. All the things.
When it comes to Ni'ssan I buy her books as soon as they're released and I'm usually okay with a few typos here and there but this entire book was littered with them. Honestly the typos took away from the story which I usually not want to say but even just the most cursory glands at it you would be able to fix some of the things. From name switching in and out of chapters words entirely being missing. Sentences being repeated and I found myself going back over the same things to make sure that they understood them. It prolonged the reading experience and again took away from the book.
Now on to the good stuff and absolutely loved most of the characters asylie was definitely my favorite Solana I warmed up to her more towards the end I just didn't understand why she was walking around constantly accusing Marlo of trying to sleep with her when he was trying to be nice and he had told her multiple times he also let her know about his relationship. Once they got over to the 'best friendship' I started liking her.
It felt like she was finally trimming the terms and and make it better situation for herself and then boom she likes this man cheat multiple times and then has the nerve to be like we shouldn't have done it after the 13th time. Okay girl. Only thing I would have wanted a little bit more from her backstory would be her situation with her mom just cuz the ending just kind of came out of nowhere where the mom popped out of nowhere for real.
With Zaylee and Mickeall I absolutely loved Zaylee, she was my favorite. He worked my nerves every single time and at first I was just really trying to figure out where this revengeful Spirit he had towards Zaylee come from. When we found out what he did with ole girl's brother and then continue to do and however long later I realized that's just his vibe. He's just a petty Betty and he gives 50 cent energy and I really actually started to respect that towards the end.
Of course this book was a stand alone but it does seem like we're gearing up for something with Yana and Nico and I'm here for it. I definitely want to see what happened with Sonni's mom which would be Nico's too, and how all of that came out cuz we really didn't get too much info on it.
All in all great book. I do hope that she will editit and then re-release because it's something that I could definitely read again. It has all of the immediate relief and over the top Miss that you would expect from a Ni'ssan book however again be good mistakes took away from the book but not enough to not enjoy it.
This was a good read. Marlo and Mikael were both crazy. They had their issues starting with their messed up parents. But the betrayal of friends and lovers were not just a result of their behavior but also a reflection of their own personal feelings on commitment and relationships.
Lo was a great father. I loved how intentional he was with his daughters and Sunshyne. From the beginning he treated Sunshyne like she was his. Then his love for Solana was forbidden and beautiful at the same time. He knew he needed to end current situations before starting anew.
Fallon. What a piece of work. That chick was definitely for the streets. Who didn’t she do? She got exactly what she deserved once she was exposed.
Mikael was crazy. I laughed at him BUT I didn’t like how he treated Z. He could have done better. I wished she made him more accountable about their loss. I wanted to see more remorse and it felt like Z gave him a pass.
Nene. If delusional was a person. 🤦🏾♀️💁🏽♀️
Their parents. Just horrible people. Who would do their kids like that. They would that’s who. 😡😡😡. Now Marlo and Mikael’s mom lost everything and everyone.
I tried to look passed the errors because this seemed like it would be a good story. I’ve never read any of this author’s books before. Let me say this, the errors take over the whole book. Mikael’s name changed every other sentence, words that should never be misspelled were misspelled or used the wrong way. I’m not talking once or twice I’m talking about every single sentence had errors I’ve never read any book so disrespectful im my life. On top of that the book also had the nerve to be repetitive, Mikael’s second chapter was the same as his first chapter.
Who stays with a parent that constantly disrespects one of their children? This lady mistreats one of you alls daughters like crazy, you’ve seen it with your own eyes and that’s not grounds for your big tough ass to leave? You make excuses and continue to not be with this idiot but u also live with and make more kids thats more than likely not yours. There is nothing more that i cant stand is when an author makes a so called big bad thuggish type MMC that is so stupid and acts so slow. Thats Marlo in every sense of it he’s dumb and seems so slow.
Anyway I didn’t finish the book.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Repo’d His Heart came through like a tow truck on a midnight call. It snatched me up from page one and never let go. I love a good standalone that doesn’t cut corners, and this one delivered. The storyline was creative, relatable, and had just the right amount of extra to keep me locked in.
I was rooting for Solana the whole ride. After everything she endured, I needed to see her pull through. She was the definition of “it ain’t on you, it’s in you,” making something out of nothing and showing the real grind of a single mom. No pity party, just pure hustle.
Marlo earned major respect too. I always love seeing an MMC take that street money and flip it into a legit business that creates generational income instead of chasing fast money forever. That’s growth.
Mikeal, aka Unky, had me cracking up every time he hit the scene.
Now… that plot twist? Baby, my edges almost got repo’d. 🤣 I won’t spoil it, but just know I was clutching my pearls.
This was a solid standalone and the perfect introduction to Nissan’s pen. Consider my interest officially hooked.
Everybody was in so much denial about their feelings that it was laughable😂🤦🏾♀️. Delusional was a better word for all parties included. But yet in still, everyone had me laughing throughout this entire book. To be perfectly and unapologetically honest here, there was about 20 million eleven times where I was yelling at all of them at some point or another throughout this book. To be honest again Marlo and Mikel had a trifling family (starting with that nasty daddy of theirs) and I’m glad they saw them for what they truly were in the end. Solana and Zaylee definitely made them work for their hearts. Them two didn’t play no games. They stood on bidness 10 toes down when it came to their feelings and their worth, good job ladies🎉👏🏾. The only thing was the grammatical errors, but I still enjoyed the story nonetheless!
If errors in literature bother you- this book is not the one.
I like the mixed troupe, glad none of the disliked characters got their own chapters. The beginning of the story it’s like you’re reading a romance just waiting for the HEA
Some real toxicity slid in toward the middle from Marlo after what has been some real solid relationship building and Solana kept claiming she was going to leave because of it but never did- both annoying and disappointing.
Both female characters are forced into continuing pregnancies they verbalised not wanting to have.
Same time the book was fun to read. Heavy on the ‘a good story isn’t about loving every character’.
I loved the back and forth. The toxicity was doing it for me but girl…. Ni’ssan… The grammar, continuity, punctuation, formatting and spelling errors were ALOT! Like ALOT ALOT! It almost seems as if she uploaded her rough draft version versus the completed final version. We know Ni’ssan doesn’t write like this so it was very disappointing to see the mess (respectfully) of this story.
Anywho.. Mikael was probably my favorite. His toxic ass was foul in how he did Zaylee and he should’ve groveled harder (so should Marlo overly emotional ass) but his humor and wit made him a standout character for me. I need to see what’s up with Niko and Yanna. That’s finna be a whole mess too.
This book was really good. I enjoyed the story a lot. Mikael was definitely my favorite!! He stayed on ho and did not play about his family, his seed and his money. I loved how close Marlo and Mikael were, they had each other’s backs through everything. Zaylee knew good and well Mikael was gon cut up real good and he definitely did. Marlo needed gave people too many chances to play with him, I know he was tryna see the good in people but they was too good at playin in his face. I hope we get a spinoff cus I got questions! Overall this was definitely worth reading 10/10 highly recommend
I typically like books by this author but this isn’t my favorite. I expected a softer book but this was definitely more toxicity than anything. I wouldn’t quite say romance or love because you don’t really see it that until it’s rushed in the end. I don’t mind a toxic book but I wish I had known before hand. However, the biggest qualms I have with this book is the grammar. Mine isn’t the best but there was a lot of mess ups that take away from the story and make this feel like a rushed release.
I really wanted to rate this one higher because the story had potential. There were moments where I could see what the author was building, and I wanted to stay locked in.
Unfortunately, the editing kept pulling me out of the reading experience. I'm usually not the person counting grammar mistakes, but there were enough errors that I found myself focusing on them instead of the story.
That was disappointing because I truly think there was a good book underneath it all. With stronger editing, this one easily could have landed much higher for me.
This book is full of drama and the typos were too frequent and the repetition couldn’t make me rate it above 3⭐️. The repetition of what characters did/ thought was annoying and had me skipping large chunks of text until I got to speech/ discourse. Mikeal will make you laugh, Marlo will annoy you at one point. Loved the girls and the friendship they built and Sunshyne was a cutie. Marlo and Mikeal had some serious growing up to do which showed in their behaviour. As for that paedophile Marlo was dealing with and all her associates, they got what they deserved.
This was cute. I enjoyed it but not as much as I enjoy her other books. It had A LOT of typos but I managed to skim over them. It can definitely be revised later on. I would like a follow up on Yanna and Niko- bc he had a girlfriend when he seen Lana at the store, so I need a how they met and got acquainted story for them. Marlo is presh, he reminded me so much of “Real” from I love NY.. come to think Mikael gave me “Chance” vibes.
Ni’ssan I have been a fan of your paranormal work and a few other books and this one was equally great! Mikael was unhinged and Marlo was silent but deadly. I love his heart and how he let the aura draw him into Solana. Yanna knew her baby daddy was fine… Zaylee put Mikael through it as well she should had. Daddy just a rolling stone he forgot the hat everywhere he laid pipe at. Fallon was on my shit list from the beginning.A good read for sure!
Listen! Everybody was delusional 😂 Solana was a bit of a damsel in distress. Marlon”Mr. F bxches” Watson starts to catch feelings but has too much going on with his crazy baby mama to act on the attraction. So, he wants to be besties? 🥴 Boy, bye! Lol. Don’t get us started on his brother & his girl. Just go read it for yourself. 😉 A few grammatical errors but the storyline & plot were great! Great job! I was entertained the entire 400 pages.
Both brothers found happiness Amazing foundation grew slowly blossom into something more... Mikel got his first love back
Cousin still hater frfr
Mason ex Fallon everything caught up with her his dad was scandalous Jealous of your own sons crazy work and for there mom to be cool with that All that time.... I'll be cool on her too
Now both brothers get to have family they both want
This one here almost took me OUUUTTT!!! The flips and turns and circles were amazing… Them brother were something else… And Fallon I have no words to even begin to explain her🤯 This was and is a book you should read. Try not to pop your too when you find out what you find out is all I can say!!! Keep writing and I’ll definitely keep reading!! Ohhh and we need Yana story PLEASE!!!!
Although this was a very good read funny and kept me intrigued for hours the grammar and misspelling throughout the entire book was a bit much.It threw me off, but But the overall story in the book was really really good. I loved lo and happy everybody got what they deserved
This was a really great book. The character development was amazing. I loved the slow burn of Solana and Marlo. But once they got it popping it was 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥. Mikael had me lmao throughout the book. I'm happy that him and Zaylee finally got it together. Fallon was for everybody. This is a must read.
The editing needs some serious work because you've got misspelled names, mixing up of characters, sentence syntax screwups, and homonymn mix ups like instead of putting hire they use higher. Other than that I very much enjoyed the book. One thing I will say is that both brothers were very selfish in certain viewpoints
The plot for this book was perfect but I do think the author should republish. There were too many grammatical errors and at times even character names were misspelled or misplaced.
I truly enjoy this book all 400 pages of it baby I wanted them to kill Fallon the daddy and they fake ass brother lmao and they mama to like wow how you do your kids dirty
I really enjoyed the story, it had enough tension, laughter and smut. I’m going to look more into the authors work. I usually don’t comment on or am bothered by editing but it was kind of ridiculous
I liked the book, but there were quite a few grammar errors and it was annoying. Also I didn’t like how we never knew what happened to NeNe after the arrest. I like the author so I will read her work again but the errors do need to be fixed!
The brothers were batshit crazy. They made you laugh and the next minute you wanted to knock their heads off. The love and support they gave their loved ones almost madeup for their craziness. This was a good book. Hoping to get Yanna's story.
I enjoyed the storyline and the twists of all the interconnected relationships...BUT the grammatical errors and typos and mixed up name took so much away from the story...the talent of the storytelling is good but and editor is needed
