Thank you to NetGalley, Justin Jones-Fosu, and RB Media for providing me with an advanced listening copy of Stop Chasing, Start Creating.
This book presents an interesting message about redefining success, slowing down, and intentionally creating a life aligned with your own values rather than chasing someone else’s definition of achievement. The core ideas are meaningful and relevant, particularly for professionals who feel burned out from constantly pursuing the next milestone.
For me, however, the presentation didn’t fully land. The book sits somewhere between a children’s fable and a self-help/business leadership book, using the familiar tortoise and hare story as its foundation. While I understand the author’s intent, I found myself wishing the narrative relied less on the fable and spent more time developing the underlying concepts. The message itself was stronger than the story used to deliver it.
I listened to the audiobook, which was narrated by the author. Justin Jones-Fosu is a capable narrator, and his passion for the material is clear. That said, there were moments when the emotional delivery felt a bit too heavy for me. Instead of reinforcing the lessons, the heightened emotion occasionally distracted from the message and pulled my attention away from the practical takeaways.
As a business owner, I was hoping for a leadership book that I could directly apply to running and growing an organization. While there were certainly valuable insights throughout, I don’t think this would be my first recommendation for someone specifically seeking a business or leadership resource. The strongest part of the book came in the latter sections, where the author moved beyond the story and broke down the concepts into more practical, business-oriented applications. Those chapters were where the message felt most actionable and impactful.
Overall, Stop Chasing, Start Creating offers worthwhile reflections on success, purpose, and intentional living. While I wasn’t fully sold on the storytelling approach, I appreciated the underlying message and found the practical discussions in the second half of the book to be the most valuable part of the experience.

This book wasn’t anything brand new but it was a really great listen! If that is the reason why you’re not creating if you need a little bit more drive this is a great listen to help inspire you to move forward! It was an easy listen i did write things down while i was listening. I was listening while cleaning and parenting so i might need to re listen to certain parts to figure out what my #67 is but it was overall good! It inspired me to push through some blocks! #netgally
