The Dark Regent
A nation governed by those who want nothing new.
Drake and Yukiko have made the journey to the capital of the Jontihem Nation to defend their actions and find ways to secure their rights, but the government is filled with inertia and paper pushers that look down on new things and seek to make complications vanish into an endless pile of papers that no one will ever read.
A cabal pulling the strings from behind the curtains.
With the aid of new friends, they must forge ahead, only there is more here than meets the eye. Under the surface of an indifferent government, a shadowy group is manipulating things to control a nation. At their head sits a dark regent who would be king. Drake and Yukiko must stop them or humanity will find itself no more than a pawn in a greater game.

Jontiheim bureaucracy is a mess but Drake has an ace up his sleeve...
Drake heads to the capital to respond to the problem of them having their own navy and discovers that things move slower than molasses and there are many different factions that need to be taken into account. However, his ownership of Atlantis, deals him an unexpected advantage that means things don't go as the Jontiheim expect. Some of the artifacts are also auctioned and a powerful enemy is made...
An entertaining tale that highlights how bureaucracy for its own sake can lead to nothing much happening....There is adventure, intrigue, suspense, bidding, threats, firings and hirings, attempted assassinations, and much more in this tale. A fun read.

Goid follow up
It's a good follow-up to the previous stories. I just can't call them books because they are too short. Also the action is somewhat predictable. Still it's a good read.

Best book of the series so far, but I'll be hanged if I can figure out how they're going to bring the whole series to a successful conclusion in the next book. There are far too many loose ends.

a real page turner!
I have really enjoyed reading Terry Mixon, and J.N. Chaney books. I can wait for the next one. There combat grasp of the genre is first class

I enjoy the books but the authors’ constant use of idioms and colloquialisms are killing me. It’s just really annoying me at this point. Please make it stop!!

Nice plot line
While this tends to spend more time with details. There is a good plot line for a series. Well worth the read and looking forward to what comes next.
