I hate to say it, but I was super disappointed with this one. Where the hell was the whole family?! No Bryce or Nate? He didn’t even go to the house once for a family dinner. Axel showed up for .5 seconds. They didn’t even mate. Only 1 sex scene in the final chapter. This book felt like it was more a catchup on the last 11 books, than Aaron and Carters relationship. They had practically no chapters of them exploring their relationship. The reason I fell in love with this series was because of the family dynamics and that they all lived together. We got absolutely none of that in this book.
Also the hyenas were a plot line from the latest book and it was over so quickly.
I hope in the next book we get to go back to basics, I want the whole family back. I want it to take place at the main house. And I want BRYCE!

I really enjoyed this book and thought this was a sweet, happy insta-love story about fated mates. I thought Aaron and Carter were good together and Aaron finally has someone that makes sure that he’s taking care of himself just like he cares for everyone else. Yes, his best friends Bas & Leo do what they can and have always protected Aaron from a young age since they grew up under the Paranormal Council care, well I wouldn’t really call it care since they were basically raised to be soldiers. Aaron was bullied by the other children & instructors all because he wasn’t a shifter and they didn’t know how train him. The utter a*seholes viewed him as weak/less than because of it.
Luckily he had Bas & Leo in his corner. Aaron gave Bas & Leo so much by being their friends, the glue that held them together even if Aaron doesn’t believe he’s done much at all. I just love the family/pack that they’ve created but I would’ve loved for Carter to get the welcome to the family dinner as all the other mates got but then I suppose Carter didn’t get eased into the paranormal world being real or that him and Aaron are mates since Aaron had a vision the moment they shook hands. I’m looking forward to reading more from this series as it continues, it’s Leo, Easton (the Mayor/Hudson’s friend) & EJ’s (Hudson’s friend) turn next to get their own happily ever after. I’m also looking forward to reading more books by Athena Steller in the future. I’d recommend this book, series and author to everyone.
Aaron is still adjusting to life with his new paranormal family, feeling like the “defective one” until he unexpectedly meets his mate, Carter — a protective cop who’s instantly drawn to him. Carter’s world is turned upside down when he discovers the paranormal exists, and between a hyena pack threat, rescued puppies, and learning this new reality, he keeps feeling pulled closer to Aaron. With danger rising and Aaron even pulling Carter into his dreams, their connection grows stronger than either expected.
I came away from this one frustrated and disappointed. It felt like so much of what usually makes this series shine was missing, and Aaron’s relentless refusal to accept Carter as his mate dragged on far too long. What started as understandable hesitation quickly became repetitive and, honestly, just annoying. The story had potential, but the pacing made it feel stretched thin — this could have been a stronger book with more development, or even a tighter novella so it didn’t feel so drawn out. A disappointing instalment in a series that usually delivers much more heart, balance, and emotional payoff. This was an MM story with mature content.
I love this series so much and Angel didn't let me down. Carter is a police officer, Hudson's brother and knows nothing about the paranormal world. Aaron is an oracle and is opening a business with his two best friends, Leo & Baz, to help the paranormal community. When Aaron has a vision (with accompanying seizure) in front of Carter the paranormal world is revealed. Along with the beginning of a mate bond. Carter's caring and patient manner is exactly what Aaron needs.
The puppies, the fire and the hyenas all move the interconnected plot forward whilst bringing another pair of mates together.
The only complaint I have is that I would've loved for the book to be twice as long!
I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
Athena! How can you leave me hanging like this I need more!!! Aaron and Carter are so good together and I just loved how Carter took over taking care of Aaron from Leo and Bas, it was also great learning more about Aaron too! His dreams bless him I hope he can learn what his powers mean to allow him to have a peaceful sleep! And puppies!! We love the puppies!! Seeing a small little glimpse of Leo and Easton too was fun, I can’t wait for that story!
Overall, I really enjoyed this one, I can’t wait for more and I hope to see the big paranormal family again soon!
3.5 this book felt completely different from the others in the series. For one it was a slow burn with no kink. Which was surprising from this author. I missed the heat and the spice but it was such an interesting story line that I didn’t mind. My complaints are the cliffhanger in the end WTF and the next book isn’t released to I’m just sitting here waiting to find out what happens next. I wish more time had been spent on discovering Aaron’s gifts. Instead right when he starts to the book ends. I get she’s setting the story up for the next book but man it felt like I spent 200 pages waiting for the big reveal only to be let down at the end
Aaron met Hudson’s brother Carter and his whole world shifted. In this book we learn more about Aaron and how he found his way to the council and Leo and Bas. During that time he’s avoiding having the mate conversation because he still has issues from his past. Carter gets pulled into the paranormal world without any introduction and has so much to sort through. There was more building on the fires and the hyena pack in the state park as well. The ending is absolutely perfect to the progression of the book and anticipation for what’s going to happen next in the series.
OMG... Angel is amazing. I love love the fact that they are taking things slow, the daily dates that everyone seems to know about. How Carter just is there no matter what happens. I think he will be a great addition to the family. the best quote is from the end "then i'll believe in you until you can"... *awww*
I love this series so much!
i just love all these books... omg the flowers!!! with Logan.. ok ok ok... i'm calm now..
thank you for bringing this world to ours.. i love it so much
I enjoyed reading this book and seeing how Carter reacted to learning about the paranormal world. Also, I do wish the story was longer. I felt like just when the story was getting deeper and more interesting, I was soon at the last page. I hope we get to see Aaron more in future books as I felt like the onion was just started to pull back on the layers of story that needs to be told. I'm also invested in the supporting characters and hope they get their own story in the future as well.
This book didnt capture my attention like the others in the series. Aaron's reluctance was hard to understand. His Oracle situation even more so. I also hate when it says a book is 89 percent finished and you think you have a good bit to read and its all non current book related. Epilogues are the cream in the book coffee. I was highly disappointed in the ending.
I enjoyed Aaron and Carter’s book. The story line is interesting and it’s a good addition to the series. I took off one star because of how poorly the book was edited. The errors were severe enough that I was pulled out of the story a few times
I think I was most disappointed that Aaron never came into his powers. I didnt mind that Carter took charge even of the mate aspect, but there wasn't much relationship building other than a few dinners.
What really drew me into this series was how each booked dived into different kink but as the series has gone on I feel like there's been less and less.
This book was fast paced and a good read. Following Aaron an Orical an his Fated mate Carter a cop as they Fallow the vision of Aaron's as thay adopt 3 puppy's. fight off a pack of trouble hyenas and realizeation that you dont have to be perfect for the right person to love you
This series is amazing. Carter is such a strong character in this book to know that he’s going to help his angel with how he he supposed to be as an oracle. I was really glad on how it ended..
Carter and Aaron’s book is so sweet. I love how hard they work to keep the other safe and happy. I love the way Carter takes care of Aaron, believes in him, and shows him they belong together. This is a sweet, insta-love, no angst book and I totally recommend you read it!
As usual I loved the newest addition to the series. Aaron and Carter are perfect together and the overall plot advanced. Not as much as I wanted 😁, but it did. I wish the others would’ve been involved a little more and I do want to see Bryce meeting Aspen
This was such a sweet book. I love Aaron so much, his past is sad but Carter will help him gain his confidence. Aspen is adorable per usual and I loved seeing Stryker. I can't wait for the next book with my favorite mayor.
I really enjoyed this series the characters are all easy to like. I did feel like this addition was a bit too fast paced, big build ups and rushed conclusions. However when you put the whole series together and what’s to come I’m here it’ll be a well rounded series.
Always fun to visit the family and add new friends!! I love the unique mating dance for Aaron and Carter. Slow and steady…with 3 puppies. Definitely one way to get a mate!! 😆
