Dante: A Forced Proximity Second Chance Dark Mafia Romance

Rate this book
She survived a bullet, a surgery and two years of pretending she was fine.
She did not survive him knocking on her door.
He had a gun, a bleeding wound, and every reason to call for help.
He called no one.

Instead, Dante Castellani drove across Denver with a bullet lodged below his ribs and climbed four flights of stairs to the one door he had no right to knock on.

Marina Reeves had told him to stay away. He had. For two years, he'd watched her from a distance, tracking her schedule, memorizing her route, making sure she was safe from the world he'd dragged her into.

He never planned to need her.

But when he was dying, she was the only thing he wanted to see.

Marina has spent two years rebuilding something quiet. Something normal. Something with locked doors and no loose ends. She knows better than to let a wounded mafia enforcer bleed on her floor. She knows better than to call his family. She knows better than to hold towels against his wound and count his breaths through the night.

She does it anyway.

And when Dante Castellani stops bleeding long enough to tell her the truth — all of it — Marina discovers that surviving the Sartori world didn't break her as completely as she thought.

The dangerous part isn't the cartel hunting him.

It's that she doesn't want him to leave.

Dark. Obsessive. Earned.

This is the sixth book in the Sartori Syndicate series. Each book features a different couple and can be read as a standalone.

So I really did like this book but about 75% through I got hella bored… it became too predictable and too drawn out . If dark mafia romances aren’t your usually go to you can probably make it through with out getting as bored but mafias are my go to everyday so storylines can get super predictable for me

Outstanding. Emotional. Addictive. Absolutely unforgettable.
This book completely consumed me from the very first chapter. Even if you haven’t read every earlier book in the series, you’ll have no trouble stepping into the Sartori world—and once you fall into Sherry Blake’s writing, there’s no escaping it. You’ll be hooked. The writing was flawless—immersive, vivid, and so beautifully crafted that every scene felt like it was unfolding right in front of me. I wasn’t just reading this story—I was living it.
Dante and Marina were everything.
Their chemistry was electric, their dialogue sharp and effortless, and their emotional journey was breathtaking. Watching their story unfold—from the glimpses we got in Lorenzo’s book to finally seeing them reach their hard-earned happily ever after—was deeply rewarding.
At first glance, Dante seems like the classic obsessed, dangerous alpha male… but the deeper you get into his story, the more layers are peeled back. Learning about his childhood, his pain, and everything he endured completely changed how I saw him. Beneath all that darkness is a man who loves with his whole soul—a man fiercely devoted to his family, endlessly protective of the people he loves, and willing to let Marina go if it meant her happiness.
That kind of love?
Rare. Selfless. Heartbreaking. Beautiful.
And Marina—what a heroine.
I’ll admit, I was nervous at first. I worried she might become another Evelyn—but wow, was I wrong. Marina was vulnerable, yes—but she was also strong, fiery, fearless, and impossible not to admire. She challenged Dante. She stood up to him. She even slapped him—and I loved every second of it. Watching her confront her trauma while allowing herself to love was incredibly powerful. She wasn’t weak—she was human. And that made her strength even more inspiring.
Together, Dante and Marina were perfection.
And the spice? Sherry Blake never misses—and this book was no exception. The chemistry was scorching, intense, and absolutely mouthwatering. And that scene with the toys? I was laughing, blushing, and kicking my feet all at once.
But this book wasn’t just romance.
It was packed with emotion, suspense, and twists that genuinely shook me.
That plot twist? Absolutely insane.
Even though I suspected part of it, when Lorenzo “died,” I nearly lost my mind. I was devastated. I cried right alongside Sophia during that funeral scene—my chest physically ached. And then that reveal? Pure genius. That’s the kind of emotional manipulation I happily sign up for because it proves just how powerful Sherry Blake’s writing truly is. Even when you think you know what’s coming, she still finds a way to wreck you.
And Bruno… wow.
Bruno was like the sun—hot, magnetic, impossible to ignore. But what affected me most was seeing his vulnerability. Watching him hug Dante and completely break down over Lorenzo shattered me. That scene absolutely wrecked me.
I also loved seeing Sophie and Lorenzo shine again. Their chemistry remains undeniable, and Sophie being Marina’s loyal, unwavering best friend added such beautiful emotional depth. And Lorenzo’s relationship with Dante—protecting him like a true older brother—was one of the most touching parts of the entire story.
Overall, this was a phenomenal read—emotional, romantic, intense, and utterly impossible to put down.
If you read Bruno and thought he was the most broken, layered, and complex man in this world… then you need to read Dante.
Because Dante isn’t just a character.
He’s a masterpiece.
Without a doubt, this is now my second favorite book by Sherry Blake.
Another absolute hit.

WOW. WOW. WOW. Forever WOW!!!🤯

Literally every single chapter left me speechless. I laughed, I cried, I was utterly shocked... it was an absolute rollercoaster! I already knew I was gonna love it, but not to this freaking extent!

Dante and Marina are officially my Roman Empire 😔💕. I love them SO much 💕💕💕💕💕

My only tiny critique?🫠 I really wished the book opened with a flashback scene of the hospital accident, or even when he saved her from Daniel back in Lorenzo's book 🥲

"I wanted to see you one last time before I died." His voice is steady, but something underneath it isn't. "I was sure I wouldn't survive. I could feel it. The darkness closing in. My body shutting down. And the only thing I could think about was you."

I can't breathe.

"I thought if I could just make it to your door. If I could just see you one more time. Then it would be okay. Then dying wouldn't be so bad."

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
"This is who I am. A kid who lost everything. A man who found a family. A killer who loves the people he protects."

I look at her.

"I'm not asking you to forgive what I've done. I'm not asking you to understand it. I'm just trying for the first time to express what I truly feel.''

----------------------------------------------------------------------

"I mean I've been doing this job for twenty years. I've knocked on hundreds of doors. Talked to hundreds of people. Threatened some. Killed others. It's all the same to me. Faces blur together. Names don't stick. I do what needs to be done and I move on."

I pause. The words are harder than I expected.

"But when you opened that door, Marina... I couldn't move on."
She stares at me.
"You were angry," I continue. "Scared. Defiant. You told me no. Nobody tells me no. Not like that. Not with that look in your eyes. Like you'd rather die than let me push you around."

"I was terrified," she says quietly.

"I know. I could see it. But you didn't let the fear win. You stood there in your doorway and you looked at me like I was just a man. Not a monster. Not a weapon. Just a man who was inconveniencing you."
I shake my head.

"Do you know how long it had been since someone looked at me like that? Like I was human?"

This series really came out of nowhere for me. A mafia romance Facebook group pointed me towards Sherry Blake and I have been hooked since!

Dante is my 2nd ARC from this author and I will continue to read her backlist and the rest of the series.

The MMC was such a fierce protector and he loves the FMC so much. The yearning and the pining from both was so lovely to watch unfold. They both had things to work through, but I like that they shared their trauma to heal. Like most mafia romances there is intrigue and violence, but there is also a healthy dose of touch her and 💀 as well as spice!

I think you will enjoy if you are fans of Michelle Heard or Neva Altaj.

Happy reading! Xo

-------------
I’m currently reading this, it’s a slow burn. The MMC has feelings for the FMC and stalks her for 2 years, to watch her if she is safe etc. But now things finally are happening and the talk about a condom he says:

"I'm clean. I get tested regularly. And I haven't been with anyone in..." I pause. Think about it. "Over a year."

So why stalk the FMC? Why have feelings for her if you have sex after meeting the FMC with OW…?

Spice 🌶️🌶️🌶️

Sherry Blake is, in my opinion, one of the most underrated mafia romance authors out there. I only discovered her a few months ago, ended up binging her backlist, and since then I have been not-so-patiently waiting for Dante’s book.

After seeing little glimpses of Dante and Marina together 2 years previously, I was so excited to finally get their story, and it was absolutely worth the wait. I do think this reads better if you have read the previous books first, because you get the full weight of their history, and all the tension that has been building around them.

The plot in this book was so well done. It had danger, emotion, suspense, mafia drama, spice, and enough depth to keep me completely invested. The story flowed beautifully, the stakes felt real, and the character development was one of my favourite parts.

Marina was such a great FMC. I really felt for her throughout this book. She had tried so hard to leave the mafia world behind and build a life away from all that darkness, but then Dante turns up at her door bleeding and everything changes. She could have turned him away, but that soft, caring side of her couldn’t let him die. I loved that about her. She was kind and sweet, but never weak. She had a voice, a backbone, and she wasn’t afraid to speak her mind when she needed to.

And Dante. Honestly, he wrecked me a little. He was intense, controlled, dangerous, and carrying so much more pain than he let people see. Underneath all that hardness was a man who was lonely, wounded, and desperate for the one person who could truly get under his skin. His love for Marina felt consuming in the best way. It was messy, emotional, protective, and full of tension.

The chemistry between Dante and Marina was there from the very beginning. It was sharp, intense, and impossible to ignore. Their connection had that perfect mix of unresolved history, emotional damage, longing, and heat. The spice was so good, but what made it even better was that it actually felt rooted in their connection and all the emotion between them.

Sherry Blake’s writing pulled me in completely. She knows how to write a mafia romance that has a proper plot, layered characters, genuine emotion, and spice that delivers. This book reminded me exactly why I became so hooked on her work in the first place. Dante was emotional, gripping, spicy, and beautifully written. Another fantastic addition to the series, and I already cannot wait for the next book.

I would 100% recommend this book and the full series to anyone who loves mafia romance with real story, strong chemistry, and characters who stay with you after you finish reading.

DANTE BY SHERRY BLAKE
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
5/5

Possible spoilers

So first of all she did it again 😍 when i tell you i eat no i devour this book in 2 days and honestly because i have to go to work if not i will easily finish in a few hours thats how engaging was this book i have a new favorite man

Dante start as your tipical obsessed man but when u actually know him everything he went through when he was a child all you just want to love him the way he love his family the way he protects everyone he loves it was just beautiful how he love marina how he decide to let her go even when he loves her because he understands if she didn’t want that life he will just set her free.

Marina

At the beginning i was scared that marina was going to be another evelyn (evelyn is my least favorie fmc from sherry book) but she was not she was scared yes but she understand dante she was sassy and not scared of him she slap him 😅😬 she deals with her trauma and love him at the same time they were perfect together the sexy toys scene crack me up a lot

The plot twist of this book was amazing i mean i almost throw my kindle away when i read lorenzo dead i was like no my baby Lorenzo i cry with sophia at the funeral scene just have him back in the next chapter lol 😂 that was a good one but again the way Dante love his family that he was able to create this plan to destroy the really bad man that destroy his life also i love how bruno was vulnerable and allowing his feelings to actually show up when he hug Dante and when he cries for his fake dead brother aka lorenzo god that part was like the end to me i was like noooo my Lorenzo 😂

Spicy

🌶️ 🌶️🌶️🌶️
Good spice i mean sherry always writes mouthwatering scenes

Overall this was another hit i love it and it definitely changes my rating this one is on the top 3 of my favorites if u read Bruno and u thought he was a broken man u need to read Dante he is just a masterpiece

SHERRY BLAKE DID IT AGAIN!!!! This book was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING IN EVERY SINGLE WAY POSSIBLE!!!! I couldn't wait for Dante and Marina's book... From the very first chapter, I was completely pulled into their story. The way Sherry Blake wrote this book, it made you feel like you’re living every moment right alongside the characters. I laughed, I bawled my eyes out, I was on the edge of my seat the whole time while reading this book!

Dante surprised me so much. At first, he gives off that intense, dangerous alpha vibe, but the more you learn about him, the more you realize how broken and deeply emotional he really is underneath all that control and anger. Learning about his past honestly hurt my heart. He loves hard, protects the people he cares about fiercely, and would rather destroy himself than risk hurting Marina.

And Marina? I loved her way more than I expected to. She was strong without pretending to be perfect, and I loved how she stood up to Dante instead of backing down from him. Watching her work through everything she’d been through while still allowing herself to love and trust was such a powerful part of the story.

Their chemistry was unreal. The tension, the emotions, the spice—everything between them just worked. Just wait until you read the toy scene..... SPICY!!!!!

But what really got me was the emotional side of this book. That plot twist absolutely wrecked me!!! When I say I bawled like a baby... I BAWLED LIKE A BABY!!!! I even texted Sherry and said, "WHAT?!" Her reply back was, "Just remember you love me" haha!

I want to go into more detail but I don't want to give anything away because this book is a MUST READ!!!! It is truly AMAZING! I can't say that enough in this review!

If you thought Bruno was the most broken man in this series, just wait until you read Dante’s story.

Because Dante isn’t just unforgettable—he owns a piece of my heart now.

5 STARS ALL THE WAY!!!!!

Thank you Sherry for the opportunity to read the Arc of this book.

I avoid writing spoilers, but I might miss something. 🙈🙈

Another story of hers that will pull you from the first page and read long into the night.
We know Dante from the previous books and Marina appeared in Lorenzo and Sophia book. She is a friend of Sophia and in that book she was shot. It was hard for her to bear what happened, the consequences remained, her right hand is no longer functional 100%.
So she decides to leave the city and moves to another. And she has no idea that Dante is keeping her under surveillance. He knows her movements, where she works, where she lives. He takes care of her from a distance.

Everything changes one day, he is in her town on an errand for the family and gets shot. The first thought is not to follow the protocol and call the doctor, he knows he is dying and just wants to see Marina one more time. He arrives at her apartment, bleeding, after two years of avoiding seeing her.
Of course, Marina manages to save his life, and the main story only begins there.

This is a story about friendship, family and family ties. About how a family doesn't always have to be through blood to be a family. Dante felt it best on his own skin.

This book was a little slower than the previous one, that's why I only gave four stars.
But I liked the characters, I liked their backstories.
Get your tissues ready for the last part of the book, I honestly didn't expect such a plot twist. And I thought about how he would manage to get out and keep everyone alive. And of course Dante managed to pull it off.
That last part is my favorite part of the book.
And now we are waiting for Sherry next book.

Having previously read Lorenzo, I approached this book with clear expectations regarding the author’s narrative style and thematic focus. This book expands on those patterns by exploring the protagonist’s unwavering, unspoken affection for the heroine. His concealed devotion serves as a central emotional thread, maintaining continuity with earlier stories while enriching the character’s psychological depth. It is a poignant story involving multiple characters impacted by the father. The father created a life marked not only by crime but also devoid of moral integrity when it came to his children beyond marriage. This story will keep you engaged with its many moments of suspense; Marinna and Dante were clearly destined to be together.

The conclusion is of vital importance, as it exposes the father’s betrayal and reveals his profound moral corruption. This revelation not only resolves long-standing narrative tensions but also prompts a reevaluation of earlier events, encouraging a more critical understanding of the characters’ motivations.

The series is designed to be read sequentially; each book builds upon the previous one, forming a cohesive narrative arc rather than standalone stories. Sherryl Blake’s writing emphasizes momentum and interconnected plotlines, which explains why readers find it impossible to put the books down.

The upcoming Valentine book promises to add further complexity, especially through the character of the cousin, whose unsettling presence hints at darker themes. I strongly recommend reading all the books before Dante to fully grasp the story’s richness, as familiarity with the prior books will enhance your experience and bring the story to life.

SPOILERS!!

Sherry Blake, this is, in my opinion the best one yet. Can you make the Feretti Syndicate and the Sartori Mafia two separate series? Both are amazing reads. Every. Single. Book.

The reason I think that this is the best so far of the Sartori Saga is because of its uniqueness. There’s the forced proximity, Stalker, enemies to lovers, Hidden lust/love, age gap, touch her/him and die, he falls first. But aside from that, you really get to know both characters.
Dante is the still traumatised MMC who witnessed his family’s murders and ends up homeless. He’s taken in by the Sartori family aged 16 and is trained to become their enforcer by the now deceased Guiseppi Sartori - father of the family.
He kidnaps Marina in Lorenzo’s story and falls in love instantly. Spends years stalking her and…… well. You read the rest.
Marina too has trauma following on from Lorenzo’s story.
You get to witness how the family works - both the mafia family, and the family that loves with all their heart.
The intricacies that go into the mafia side of the family - witnessing Bruno in charge, how they all have to be on constant guard and remain alert at all times really drew me in, all the choices that have to be made.
And then the “normal” side to them all. It captivated me.
Most importantly, Dante and Marina’s story remains first and foremost the most important topic. Two traumatised souls who slowly help each other heal and find what they thought they’d never have - love. The way Marina took care of Dante. The way she chose him without even knowing.
I loved every second of this Novel and read it in less than 24 hours.

I must confess that when I read the previous book, Bruno, there was a teaser from this book. And I was dying ever since to find out what happened to Dante! The anticipation killed me but it was totally rewarding as I loved EVERY SINGLE PAGE.
Heroine, Marina, is living in Denver alone while trying to survive the memories of her brutal hit that nearly cost her life. Until one night hero, Dante, knocks on her door bleeding and living his last moments in this world. Marina saves him but has to stay with him due to some unexpected complications that threaten both Dante and Marina.
Dante finally decides that he can't live without her and keep stalking her from afar so he gives in. And Marina understands what are the true feelings she has since she first saw him.
But threats keep closing in and make everything difficult while trying to navigate this newfound relationship that isn't stable yet, manipulation and lies that are compromising for the foundation of their new beginning.
I loved Marina and her quiet strength, her patience even though she has suffered so much.
Dante on the other hand is really hard not to love him as we learn his absolutely horrific background.
Their chemistry was off the rock and it was really emotional watching two broken people be there for each other.
And I wish I could tell you about the most devastating scene in this book but *lips sealed*, I don't want to spoil anything.
I received this arc and this is my honest opinion.

4.5 stars.

This is a slow burn, tension, he yearns HARD. The beginning starts slow, but trust the process because it gets soooo good! These can be read on their own, but I highly suggest reading Lorenzo so you can get Dante and Marina'a origin story and what happened. Dante is down bad for Marina. After her traumatic incident, Marina leave Chicago to rebuild her life. Dante had been keeping tabs on her to make sure she is okay. When he shows up at her doorstep bloody and on the brink of death, she's dragged back into the life she ran away from.

I had the best and worst time reading this. Best because the book was so good. Worst because how dare the author have the AUDACITY to make me cry so hard?! I had all the feels reading this! The plot is slow starting but picks up pretty fast. I could not guess what was going to happen. We were thrown curveball after curveball. I love that these two characters were broken in their own ways, but still healed each other slowly. Dante was a quiet presence in Marina's life. And Marina saw the broken boy in Dante, and decided he was worth going back to his dangerous life. The spice in this hits about halfway, and Dante did not disappoint! I wouldnoutnit on a 3 chili pepper scale out of 5. This is hurt/comfort, stalker MMC, forced proximity mafia romance. 100% recommend you add this into your TBR!

🖤 my review for Dante 🖤

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
🌶🌶🌶

This book was amazing from start to finish! And Marina quickly became one of my favorite FMC 🖤

The plot in this book was flawless and the character development was absolutely fantastic! I loved the writing style. I am sad that I read this book first in the Sartori Syndicate series though. Because if this book was THIS good I can't even imagine how good the rest of the series is. This is book 6 in the series. Each book in the series features a different couple and can absolutely be read as a standalone!! This book if my first by this author BUT certainly not the last! I have bought all the other books in the series and I can't wait to dive in!!! 😍

I really felt for Marina in this book! She really tried to leave the Mafia life behind but when Dante came knocking at her door bleeding she just couldn't say no and ended up saving his life. She was a character I really liked. She was sweet and kind but at the same time could speak her mind.

I loved Dante as much as I loved Marina! He was an amazing character who wasn't afraid to show his feelings in front of her. He even cried 🥹 He had been watching her for two years from afar when a job opportunity came up in the same city she lived in and he immediately volunteered!

The spice and tension between the MC was incredible!!

A huge thank you to Sherry for gifting me this book! 🖤

I am grateful for the advance copy I received from the author. This is my first time reading her book and I have mixed feelings - not because I didn't like it, but because it didn't capture what her readers already know from the previous books in the series. It started a little slow for me at the beginning with those intimate scenes in apartments and overwhelming emotional darkness. To my surprise, after the first sexual scene, everything else started to work. The development of the characters, the mafia scenes, the budding love, the intrigue and the denouement. The last of which surprised me again, because unlike the beginning, the denouement came too quickly, although expected. I was surprised that their age gap was described only towards the end of the book, I didn't find any scenes of forced proximity and what had happened two years ago between Dante and Marina was a little insufficient for me to call it a second chance in this description. Despite all my remarks, I find the book a pleasant and interesting read, especially after the chapters inserted at the end about Valentino and Amanda, which, although short, were full of dynamics and mysteries and aroused curiosity to read other books by Sherry Blake.

ARC Review:

Let’s start with the fact that Dante definitely wrecked me. Marina and Dante’s chemistry was intense from the start, and the tension never let up. The plot twists in his book literally had me screaming “I knew it” or “something ain’t right why isn’t he”. He didn’t have to do that to the family. 😭

The forced proximity, his obsession, and “only soft for her” I was hooked immediately. Dante showing up at Marina’s door wanting her instead of “sticking to protocol”. Yeah, that checks out as unhinged.

Under all the mafia chaos, the story was also emotional. Dante is possessive, protective, and completely gone for her, while Marina matched him perfectly.

Marina (FMC) is strong, but stubborn, and emotional in the most realistic way. Even after everything she’s been through, she still stood her ground against Dante every single time.

“You look like a giant trying to sleep in a dollhouse.” 😂 I could only imagine.

If you love dark romance with tension, danger, and a stalker hero down catastrophically bad, add this to your TBR.

Thank you @sherryblakeauthor. I was invested and hooked from beginning to end. Patiently waiting for VALENTINO!!! 🥲

Dante is everything! Quiet, intense, damaged, protective, and all of that zeroed in on the people he loves - his family and Marina.
This is my first Sherry Blake novel, and this is the 12th book in a 13-book series. I didn't feel like I missed anything by coming in so late. I do know that every couple I met has a back story, and this did not in any way impede my enjoyment of this book.
Marina's story is told through flashbacks and inner dialogue. This is what entwined her and Dante. We open when Dante is injured on the job and fights his way to Marina to see her before he dies. It's enemies to lovers, proximity, and hurt. The comfort comes later.
Dante? I fell in love fast and hard. He is so complex and interesting, broken and damaged like many a mafia mmc, and vulnerable in ways most are not, Words aren't his thing, but he communicates just fine.
I was hooked from page 1 and read it in one sitting. The character development was chef's kiss (and this was without me having any background knowledge going in). It's mafia with spice, and I found it plot heavy, which I know many people are looking for.
I plan on going back to the beginning and immersing myself in this world. can't wait to follow what appears to be a complex and involved story.

Outstanding! The book was so well written. I've not read all the earlier published books but still had no trouble understanding the Sartori world. I was hooked from chapter 1. The dialogues between Dante n Marina were flawless n crisp. Like its actually before me. Their journey from Lorenzo's book till their HEA in this one was superb. I loved how Marina was vulnerable yet so strong. She was one strong heroine I've ever read. And Dante's love for her, was out of this world. So pure. So romantic. I just couldn't put the book down.

Sophie n lorenzo shone. Loved their chemistry. Loved how Sophie was the bestest BFF of Marina. And how Lorenzo took care of Dante like a big brother , given that Dante was working for him. So many twists and turns in the book. Especially the major twist which I predicted. But still had tears in my eyes, Still I got scared, still my heart pained. That's the power of the author's writing. It was awesome and perfect.

And Bruno was like the sun. Hot and tempting and magnetic. I just loved him.

Overall a fantastic read. Couldn't put it down. Cant wait to more from this author.

Sherry Blake is a genius. This book absolutely destroyed me in the best way possible. It was emotional, addictive, romantic, and impossible to put down. I was hooked from the very first chapter and completely consumed by the end. Truly, I thought Bruno and Antonella would be favorite couple, but Dante and Marina swooped in and stole my heart.

Dante was beautifully written. Underneath his anger and control, he was deeply lonely, wounded, and capable of loving with incredible intensity, especially Marina.

Marina was equally amazing. She was vulnerable without feeling weak, and I loved how she challenged Dante at every turn (emphasis on every). Their chemistry was intense, emotional, and completely believable.

What really stood out to me was how layered the story felt. Beyond the romance, this book explored grief, loyalty, trauma, sacrifice, and healing in such a powerful way.

The twists completely caught me off guard, and the suspense kept me glued to the pages. Add in the emotional family dynamics, the incredible romance, and perfectly balanced spice, and this became one of my favorite books in the series. Completely unforgettable.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Sherry Blake has done it again! This series just keeps getting better and better, and Dante is another outstanding addition.

I absolutely loved Dante and Marina. They are both wonderfully flawed and carrying their own emotional scars, which made them feel so real and relatable. Watching their relationship develop and strengthen throughout the story was an emotional journey that had me laughing, crying, and cheering them on every step of the way.

Dante was everything I hoped he would be—protective, devoted, and completely obsessed with Marina in the best possible way. The depth of his love for her was impossible not to swoon over, and their chemistry was incredible.

The plot was engaging from start to finish and beautifully executed. Every twist, emotional moment, and character interaction felt purposeful and added to the overall story. One of my favourite aspects of this series continues to be the Sartori family. I love how they are woven throughout each book, creating a rich, interconnected world that adds so much depth and heart to the series.

Thank you to the author for the ARC. It was an absolute pleasure to read, and I cannot wait to read Valentino’s story.

Dante and Marina

3.5 🌟
I did not care for the FMC. At all. It says a stand alone & I do not know if in a previous book it covers their interactions at that time. Reading this I feel like I missed something between them. I did not feel the connection between them or any relationship building. I understand the FMC was hurt and traumatized but I found her weak and mean. It would have been fine to be weak after her trauma if the story expands and she rises from that trauma to become stronger. I don’t feel that is the case in this book. She is mean and assumes all bad things about Dante and his family. Stating “men like you” negatively without actually knowing him and his family. He tells her that she’s been the one for him for two years since they met. He knows all about her every day life because he wanted to make sure she was safe. She’s the one for him, etc etc etc. Yet it has only been about a year since he slept with someone. So she was the one for him and he has been in love with her for 2 years but yet he has slept with others??? Why do authors do that?!?!
It was very slow especially the first ~40%. The ending was good but it was a long winding road to get there.

SHERRY BLAKE DID IT AGAIN 🔥

I swear this woman cannot write a bad book because I have loved every single one—and Dante was one of my MOST anticipated reads. So when I got the ARC, you can imagine my reaction. Her writing style is so captivating and always leaves me wanting more. Book hangover loading…. 🫠😂

And let me tell you—DANTE. DELIVERED. 👏🏼

✨ Forced proximity
✨ Second chance romance
✨ Obsessed hero
✨ He’s been in love with her since the first moment he saw her?! SAY LESS.

Dante is exactly the kind of MMC I am obsessed with—intense, possessive, completely gone for her, and that delicious yearning energy that gets me every single time 😮‍💨❤️

The tension?? INSANE.
The chemistry?? OFF THE CHARTS.
The longing, the history, the unresolved feelings?? Inject it directly into my veins 😩🔥

Sherry Blake knows EXACTLY how to write men that completely ruin your standards, and Dante is no exception. If you love an obsessed hero who would burn the world for her, packed with angst, tension, and all the swoony second chance feels—READ THIS BOOK.

Easy 5 ⭐️ read for

"There she is."

I really don't know how Sherry Blake continues to be able to do this. Every story she writes just keeps getting better for me. I don't know if it is because I have read all of them that I truly feel like I know this family or if it's just because she keeps getting better. Dante and Marina are no exception.

Marina is a spitfire, strong in many ways, badass, and even when she's terrified, she'll still slap the shit out of you. I love that for her. Dante is quiet, watchful, damaged in ways we've kind of always known but definitely learn the true depth of in this story. You can tell that Dante loves Marina in the way he thinks about her, the way he talks to/about her, and the way we learn he has been watching her from a distance ever since Lorenzo's story.

I hate that Sherry Blake made me cry during *that* chapter. It was real, it was raw, and it broke me in a way that shouldn't be possible over a fictional story. I love the way she writes an ending that isn't too much or too little - just happy in it's simplicity.

I received this book as an ARC from the author.

Wow. I really didn’t think I’d like another book in this series as much as “Bruno,” but Dante’s story was great. I’d previously read books 1-3 in the Feretti Syndicate but haven’t read any of the Sartori books outside of Bruno’s. Even though Dante and Marina’s story started in “Lorenzo,” I feel that this is a good standalone because I didn’t NEED to read Lorenzo’s story to follow the plot of this book (although after this, I’ll be cycling back to read the rest of the Sartori books).

I’m a sucker for stories where two broken people help each other to heal, and that’s what this was for me. Dante has a lot of trauma from his past and seeks Marina out in what he believes are his final moments. It takes some forced proximity, but she realizes he is the person who makes her whole despite him being someone she’s spent two years trying to forget.

I thought this book had an engaging plot and great character arcs, and I’m really looking forward to Valentino’s story next!

Thankyou to Sherry Blake for the opportunity to ARC read this book! Unfortunately I didn’t read it as quick as I usually would as I have had a lot going on at home.

I will be straight, I signed up for this ARC not realising I was dropping into book 10 of a series so I was wondering how I would find it.

I must say although it was evident there were many stores I had missed from the volume of the couples in the book I didn’t think this took away from the story and the relationships Dante had with his family. There was also reference to an event which had occurred between Dante and Marina prior to the start of this book which I had missed but did not feel it majorly impacted how I felt about the book. So this can definitely be read as a standalone.

I really enjoyed Dante & Marinas story, I loved how gone for her Dante was right from the start. I thought it was really well written and had made me want to go back and read more of Sherry Blakes work and find out about the rest of the couples stories.

Overall I would give the book 4.25 stars.

ARC Review

Sherry did it again!

I have been waiting for this book since Marina showed up in Lorenzo’s book. When she told him to leave I knew that wouldn’t be the end of their story.

Dante was obsessed with her and in a loving way now the dark obsession.

Dante showed up at Marina’s apt 2 years after leaving Chicago from the attack and being shot. Did she expect to open the door and see Dante on his death bed at her door? Did she expect to have her whole world be turned upside down over the next two weeks. She finally admitted to herself about the feelings that she had been suppressing.

The love story is a key element of the book but the wow factor was the emotional conversions between Dante and Marina.

On top of that….the epic secret that changes everything in the Santorini family. This book is a must read. I just finished it and I’m getting ready to read it again.

Thank you @sherryblake I’m sitting here ready for Valentino!!

This is a must read!!!

The story of Marina & Dante.

Marina is barely hanging on, after what she went through two years ago. She pretends to be fine with everyone, her family, her co workers. She tired to date a nice guy once & she recoiled from his touch.

Dante is Lorenzo consigliere, he’s killed, caught & bled for this family. He’s always had everyone’s back. He volunteers to go to Denver to do a normal job to collect money that’s owed. Only for it to go sideways, for him to be at deaths door. The only thought he has, is to see the one face he wants to see one last time. Before his time, Marina.

This book absolutely broke me in the best possible way. The chemistry between Marina & Dante is off the charts. The load that he has to carry, the life he’s lead & what he’s been through would brake most people. Love, devotion, betrayal, obsession from day one & secrets that could destroy everything.

It’s another amazingly well written book by Sherry & can’t wait for what’s in store,

Si Su fratelli, come disse Bruno sangue o no sei e sarai sempre nostro fratello.!!!
