Farren is a fated mates, gargoyle/merman, MM paranormal romance. Hey peeps! I’m Morgan.

I’ve always been a reader and a daydreamer. My writer origin story is embarrassing now that I think about it. But also kinda funny, maybe. One day I might share. If people ask nicely. It involves a psychic.

I share an apartment with my sister in Southern Indiana where we keep the AC on year round and try to keep each other entertained.

What a perfect conclusion to the second season of Black Cat Circus! The Pearl of Fate had made an appearance in each story and was happy to see it's a huge factor in this final installment!

It's our favorite security guards time to find his match and whom better than a mermaid! Farren has been protecting BCC since its inception, but now Farren has grown to believe that is all he is good for. Rourke has felt the pressure of his community to serve yet has the free spirit to want to see th world. With fates intervention, it looks like he has a chance for just that! When these two embark on their adventure, they learn to have self-love and worth to be the best version of themselves. The heated scenes are pure fire and just the right amount of them to keep the story going and their connection to grown all around.

I'm happy to see this season was as beautiful as the debut and crossing my fingers that the BCC will return to us for a third season. Just that right blend of low angst and right amount of heat to capture you from start to finish

A thrilling MM paranormal romance b/w Gargoyle & Merman! It's such a fun, rollercoaster ride 😆 with surprises, size difference, & a pearly adventure!
Devoured my #ARC in around 4hrs. Loved Farren & Rourke, all the side characters are so lovely 🥰. BCC world is amazing!!

Farren is a Gargoyle (shifter). He's big, quiet, observant, caring, & loves reading books! He's the security guard at BCC & takes his job seriously.
Rourke/Stargazer is a merman. He's curious, talkative, sweet with an adventurous spirit. He has a dream, & then, he gets a mission!

The story is fast-paced, an unexpected but so FUN rollercoaster! I liked seeing that even Fated Mates need some help 😉 & that the 2 took their time! What a packed 1st 24hrs were for them lol.

It's sweet how they were both nervous, a bit conflicted, but gave fate a chance! Loved seeing the walls around heart break down ❤️. How R makes F blush is so cute! The lore of Gargoyles & Mers are fascinating. F+R are so cute, & Hot too hehe. Underwater stuff 🔥🔥.

The lil adventure! I'm glad we found more about the elusive Pearl of Fate. That climax, man. The council is too good omg, I didn't expect that! But well, that use of POF makes sense. Loved the season 2 of BCC!! I hope there is more in this world ☺️ RTC.

This is the last addition to this season of the Black Cat Circus series where we finally get Farren's story. Our stoic and lonely gargoyle head of security doesn't believe that his kind have soulmates and he doesn't feel worthy of a mate. His lack of self-worth made me sad for him because he deserved to be happy and have all the love in the world, just like all of his circus family. The book was a great wrap up to this part of the series. I'm not sure if they are doing another season but this multi author series was filled with entertaining reads throughout. Farren and Rourke give you all the warm and fuzzies as the learn about each other, support one another, and go on an adventure together.

Rourke or Stargazer (his mer-name), wants so badly to leave the lake and explore the world like his mother does. Him and his two best friends go to the surface as often as they can to spend some time shifted and experiencing what's to offer on land. There are big changes coming for the friends since one of them will be named the new historian apprentice, which requires a devotion of time to studying the lakes history. Rourke secretly wants to be an ambassador between the worlds but his sense of duty to his father has stopped him from speaking up about his desires. On the night before the big announcement, the friends come to the surface to see the circus and go clubbing.

At the carnival Rourke just found his fated mate when the group runs into Farren, then he totally runs away. Rourke has never really believed he'd have a fated mate so this comes as a huge shock for him. They meet up at the club and decide to see where it goes while they spend time together. Rourke also gets tasked with a mission to help save the lake, with Farren coming along for support. Rourke was so patient with Farren while he worked on loving himself and accepting that he's worthy of their relationship. Although this is a fated mates’ story, the couple decided to get to know one another and spend time with each other before making a decision on staying together. I liked that it wasn't forced upon them and they could make a choice in the matter. Now, they might be miserable if they split but they were given the option.
"I may not have known if fated mates were real my entire life, but I know I've always wanted someone that loves me for me. Fate may have smashed us together, but it's up to us whether we're really compatible or not, don't you think?"

The little sea shell is finally whole! It got stronger, more vibrant, and played a part throughout this story showing up and disappearing randomly. Learning the story behind the shell and why it's been popping in and out of the different couples’ lives was a cool addition. It also gets to continue its work while joining the circus in the end.
"You're my pearl. You bring so much joy into my life, and I don't know where I'd be without you. I'm glad you had the patience to love me as I am."

The underwater scene in their shifted forms was naughty 🥵

I wanted Farren's story so badly. I fell in love with gargoyles when I was kid and would watch the cartoon Gargoyles, my favorite being Goliath. And Farren became my new Goliath, the protective gargoyle who wanted to keep everyone safe. Unfortunately, Farren believed that was all he had to offer, and even then had doubts about that. He didn't believe fate had any other plans for him since he didn't believe he was worthy of more. Rourke thought his fate had already been written for him, but desperately yearned for something different. Then their paths crossed (thank you Pearl of Fate) and their true fate is revealed. Each seeing the true worth of the other, pouring a little encouragement, patience, love into each other until they each bloomed with self-worth, happiness, and true love.
Low angst, steamy, self-healing, humor, found family, a meddling pearl and family, and so much love.

You know what? I like that tricksy little Pearl of fate! I’m glad it got its own POV at the end.

This was so sweet, with Rourke helping Farren to not only take care of himself by taking some time off, but also to gain confidence in himself. Farren was the squishiest-on-the-inside gargoyle who needed to believe in himself!

I loved Rourke’s desire for adventure, and the relationships he had with both his dad and his mom, not to mention his best friends! I’d totally want to read about Hyacinth and Cassie’s love stories, too!

Farren & Rourke

This was a good ending to this season of Black Cat Circus. It was good to read as Farren got his chance at a happily ever after with Rourke. I appreciated the cameos by other characters as well.

Farren by Morgan Lysand is the fourth and last book in the Black Cat Circus: Pearl of Fate series by various authors. It is the story of two paranormal men who find they are fated mates but aren’t sure they can be together due to circumstances beyond their control and need to figure out how to change this to get their happy ending. Farren is the gargoyle security chief for the Black Cat Circus, a circus filled with paranormal performers who are quite amazing and different. He loves his job but has a lot of insecurity around why he was let go by his creator and often wonders if he is good enough. He also doesn’t understand why he turns to stone for 3 days around the new moon and even Seven, the owner of the circus and ringmaster can’t figure that out either. Rourke, whose other name is Stargazer, and his best friends Cassie and Hyacinth are mermen who like to come to the surface and change into their human forms. He yearns to travel and learn new things but he and Hyacinth have been studying to become the historian apprentice in the library which means if he is chosen he will have to dedicate himself to learning the history of the mer until he is deemed a master of their lake’s history so he will be unable to get together with his friends for adventures. Before they learn who will become the apprentice they decide to go to the Black Cat Circus, see the performance, ride the rides, and have some fun followed by a trip Club Howl to dance and see what else might happen. While they are at the circus they see Farren and Rourke has an instant awareness and attraction, as does Farren but they don’t act on it. When they meet up at Club Howl they dance and have a great time and realize there may be more between them than they originally thought. They follow this by going to Rourke’s house and have a steamy love scene that gets interrupted by the Lake’s Mer Council and Rourke gets tasked with finding a pearl of fate which is needed to help his lake. They visit the oracle who tells them that it is nearby and they figure out it is somewhere at the circus. As Farren and Rourke spend time searching for it they realize they are fated mates and are falling in love with each other. The pearl shows up here and there, as it has in other books in the series, and they have to wait for it to heal and form its pearl before they can return it to the council. It is then that they find out what all of this has been about, what their love really means especially for Farren, and they know they want to be together forever. I really enjoyed this book as I have with the others in the series. Farren is a wonderful protective character with some insecurities. Rourke has the urge to explore and knows that he can do this with Rourke and the circus. He is also nurturing and stands by Farren and encourages him to be himself. I liked how all of the other characters from previous books appear in this one and help them get what they need to be together. And Cassie and Hyacinth also help Rourke make decisions that will affect his future. I highly recommend this book, especially if you enjoy stories of paranormal beings finding their fated mates despite some obstacles being in their way and its even more special because it happens at a circus.

A triumphant conclusion to season two of the Black Cat Circus! Now that I've read Farren, I will certainly have to start all over again with the stories of the Black Cat Circus from seasons one and two all over again.

I will say that I was surprised at how quickly the story flew by. It personally felt far too short, but I'm sure that's more because Farren is such a wonderful character, and his uniqueness would have been fun to explore even more. Especially in something like a flashback of what he remembers or similar.

The instant connection between the MCs when Farren and Rourke touch is electric! I love how all of the characters reacted to the news of their fate, especially the friends/side characters. They always add an element of encouragement and fun to the story.
Each time Farren and Rourke come together is very spicy and special. It's easy to believe in the love between the two men because we're led through their story with care and creativity.

A sweet little plot twist regarding the Pearl of Fate which was pretty unexpected, but wonderful.

One thing that's so great about all of the Black Cat Circus stories is that though each author is in charge of one story per season, all of the characters still make appearances, and you never feel that there were any odd changes to be made. It's clear that the 4 authors worked very well together to create such a wonderful environment and so many amazing and unique characters.

I received an advance copy of this book and am volunteering my honest review.

I have been stumped on writing this review for days now. If I write the review, then the story is over. I'm not ready for this story/series to be over. Each book has brought readers like me a new set of characters to fall in love with. There is something so magical about the Black Cat Circus and the Pearl of Fate. Reading each book brought more attention to the pearl and in Farren, Rourke is tasked with finding said pearl to save his lake and his friends. Meeting Farren throws Rourke for a loop and our wonderful head of security is smitten instantly as well.

This book touched my heart in so many ways. I feel like Farren could be anyone of us, struggling with self-worth and being vulnerable with a new partner. When Zander told him that he was enough, I wanted to cry. These characters are so special. Rourke could see Farren's heart and wanted to him to see himself how others saw him. The BCC is a family and they welcome in Rourke immediately just as they did for Akira and River, Alyx, and Tidun. These books have made me happy with each reading. There is something to be said to falling into an imaginative world like the Black Cat Circus. Each author from Duckie to Rye to Kota and now Morgan have added to story. I can picture the BCC in my head, the tents and all the people. That each story stays in the world and continues to build on it is amazing to me. It is the kind of series that I actively want to read, enjoy reading, and now that it is over makes me want more. I'm not sure if BCC will return for a season three, but I will be here if it does ready to return to the magical world of the Black Cat Circus and the wonder that each of these authors creates.

I've been waiting for Farren to get his own story since he was first introduced in the first season of BCC. I'm so happy he got his own story and found his fated mate.

I thought this book was great! I adored Farren's character, he's the protector of the circus and of his family and he takes that seriously. He doesn't take time for himself or sees himself in a positive light, until he meets Rourke, and his stargazer changes everything.

I LOVED how we saw couples from both seasons make appearances in this story, I found that the couples in this season recalling what the pearl was like when they found it to be really cool and interesting! The concept of the pearl in general was fascinating, a shell who's purpose is to help others find love? How sweet is that! I liked how with each detail Rourke got told, he learned that the shell was growing with each happy couple finding love.

Farren and Rourke are such a lovely couple together, they both help each other when they are feeling low and need some confidence and reassurance. I also enjoyed how they took their relationship slow, and got to know each other over time, instead of rushing things. All of the new characters that were introduced in this book I thought were great, Rourke 's friends are wild and added a bit of silliness to the story. I felt as though the ending was a bit rushed, but other than that, this was a spectacularly magical way to end Season two of this beautiful circus!! I hope that The Black Cat Circus will be back for Season 3!

One of the things I’ve enjoyed most about the Black Cat Circus (in addition to the name) is the intriguing combinations of paranormal or human circus people with their fated mates and Farren by Morgan Lysand is no exception. It is finally time for the circus’s gargoyle, the eponymous Farren, to find his HEA. And find it he does with Rourke the merman. Farren also is in need of finding his self-esteem and Rourke needs to find his life’s work. The two get to know each other after Fate intervenes in their lives by going on fun dates, something neither has done in the past. While on their paths, Ferren and Rourke interact with most of the circus people from the previous books in both series. The ending was a bit of a surprise, but in a good way (no spoilers here). My only complaint is that this is the last season of the Black Cat Circus, but since most of the authors were already on my read list with a couple of new additions thanks to the two series, I will follow them to see what new worlds they come up with in future books. I received a free copy of the book from the author and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

"You're my pearl. You bring so much joy into my life, and I don't know where I'd be without you. I'm glad you had the patience to love me as I am."

Aww, I think I’ve been most excited for Farren’s story. I love getting to see the soft side of big imposing looking men. And our gargoyle is just that. Hundreds of years old but still quite young to the modern world. I love that juxtaposition.

And I love who he is and the journey he takes after meeting Rourke. The young man who is torn between the lake and his people and a life of adventure that he truly craves.

These two have some fun getting to know each other while finding their place in the world. They are lovely people, and sexy, and such a great couple.

Farren and Rourke have a wonderful happy ending, but the conclusion to the series was also pretty great.

It's so good to have Farren's story as he has been around since the beginning of the BCC first series. He is security for the circus, the one to ensure everyone's safety and just one look usually has people either running in the opposite direction of the gargoyle or swooning in front of him. Either is good and entertaining. Rourke brings something new and exciting to Farren's life, something that he doesn't feel he deserves. Rourke is more than up to the challenge of getting him to see just how great he is, and loved by his found family. Along with meeting his mate, Rourke is on a mission to save his home. The lake his people live in has a sickness that is getting worse and he has to find the pearl in order to help.
The time the two spend together is so sweet as they learn each other and new things about themselves. Of course, there is no shortage of entertainment and friendship from the BCC crew and I love how welcoming they are to Rourke and his friends. It really does feel like a family and I hope that this is not the last that we hear from the group.
Another addition to the series that is full of heart, heat and family bonds that will never be broken. A recommended read to new and old fans of the Black Cat Circus.
I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.

This is the final in season 2 of the Black Cat Circus series, and it's finally time for Farren to find his fated mate. He finds that in Rourke, a merman who lives in a lake nearby where the circus is camped for a few weeks. Farren is the head of security for the circus, and he's been in all the books so far, on the periphery. I enjoyed getting to know Farren and his story, and I liked this take on the Gargoyle myth too. I liked the instant connection between Rourke and Farren, although wasn't a fan of the almost time lapse of their relationship, it was almost like a time jump while they were waiting for the pearl to find them.

I liked Rourke too, he was perfect for Farren and I loved his relationship with his parents too. I'm happy the thread of the pearl story finally came together too, that was a nice way to round off this series. I've enjoyed them all to date, and I'd certainly be up for a visit to the circus again sometime.

I received an ARC and this is my honest review.

This was the perfect book to wrap up this series! It tied everything together so perfectly and gave me all the happy warm fuzzies. It was the perfect blend of sweet and spice. I loved how we got to see all the previous couples that were affected by the Pearl of Fate as well as beloved characters from the first BCC series. I also loved the new characters that were introduced.

Fated Mates can always be a little hit or miss for me, but this book handled it well. Nothing about their relationship felt forced and it really seemed like they were simply meant to be. Even as quickly as they got together, it seemed natural.

Overall I really enjoyed the story. It was well thought out and it held my interest. My only real complaint is that the end seemed a little rushed, but not distractingly so.

This was a great book and part of a great series. It's definitely worth the read!

Last book of the series, and it is about my favourite security man and his fated mate: Farren and Rourke.
I loved the Gargoyle since his first appearance in the series, and I was looking forward to reading his story, which – of course!- I enjoyed soooo much.
Farren takes his job at BCC really seriously, taking care of everyone around him, and maybe that’s why he forgets about his own needs, until he – finally - meets Rourke.
This one is a Merman, a talkative and curious one, who likes to know new places and new people.
The two men couldn’t be more different, but they are fated mates, and, when they meet, they just follow their path to their future together, despite their doubts and fears.
They are so sweet, and I loved seeing Farren’s façade cracking because of Rourke.
This was a fantastic epilogue to this series, and I still really hope we get the chance to have a third season in the future, even if we have to wait a couple of years.
Well done!

So… about season 3…

Or ANYTHING, really, because I’m not ready to leave this world again.

This one did not do it for me. It felt like it was missing a lot of detail and information, it didn’t really feel like we got the whole story, it needs a (human) editor in the worst way, and the writing wasn’t my favourite.

I still loved getting to see more of Farren, who has piqued my interest throughout both the BCC series and PoF. I loved seeing the end to the mystery of the pearl of fate. I didn’t hate it, it just didn’t vibe for me.

3.75/5. Like with some recent books I’ve read, this felt like an AI program edited it, and that makes me do the “sad panda” face. I’m also rocking the face because I want so much more from this world, but have no clue where it would come from.

This was a good mm romance with lots of things that I really liked. I loved how protective Farren was- he definitely took things to heart and held himself to such high standards. I thought that Rourke really balanced him out and helped him to see that he can't be responsible for everyone's safety all the time. They were both interesting characters and I liked learning more about gargoyles and the lake home in terms of world building. It was lovely to see so many couples from other books in the series make an appearance too. As for Farren and Rourke together, they had good chemistry and there was a bit of slow build between them even though they knew they were fated pretty early into the story. It was well paced and, if you like this genre, then I'd recommend it.

I received an ARC and this is my honest review.

Farren - and Rourke

“I may not have known if fated mates were real my entire life, but I know I’ve always wanted someone that loves me for me. Fate may have smashed us together, but it’s up to us whether we’re really compatible or not, don’t you think?”

A wise young merman finds everlasting love in Morgan Lysand’s sweet contribution to the 🐈‍⬛Black Cat Circus🎪Pearl of Fate series.

Serious gargoyle Farren, head of security, has been turning to stone more than his usual, as he gets closer and closer to the beautiful young man he is feeling deeply for. The secret of the pearl becomes very important to this couple, just as its song has for those who found each other before. But there is an wven greater need that will be revealed!

The perfect ending to a magical ride. Farren and Rourke are a sweet addition to the love scape that is the Black Cat Circus. Farren is so sweet and his self doubts make him so relatable. You just want to cuddle him. Rourke’s curious nature gives him a naivety that is endearing. The two together are just an adorable pairing. This a low-angst magical romance that ends BCC2 beautifully.

Finally we get an ending to the mystery of the shell/pearl. I really loved the ending and Rourke’s mother’s message for him.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my two seasons at Black Cat Circus and fully support the authors if they decide on another season!

Season two of the Black Cat Circus ends with Farren getting a mate, and the pearl of fate accomplishing it's purpose. It was a great way to end the series. Romantic and sweet. And magical.
Gargoyle Farren is the BCC's head of security. Merman Rourke is set to become his pod's historian, although what he really wants is a life of adventure. Rourke is tasked to find the pearl of fate to heal the mer's lake, and Farren agrees to help.
I found the story to be quite sweet. Both characters are likeable. Farren is angsty, Rourke is supportive. The romantic times were sizzling hot, the underwater love play especially.
A very enjoyable, quick read. Sad to see the series end. It really was quite magical.

A sweet story about gargoyle security guy Farren who meets merman Rourke at the circus. They instantly know they are mates when Rourke touches him, but Farren feels unworthy and Rourke is concerned he's going to have to be cloistered in his lake rather than exploring the world like he wants.

I did get a bit frustrated with Farren's constant self doubt. I never really got why. He had an over-developed sense of responsibility but I wanted to smack him upside the head. I also thought the whole "search for the pearl" story became a bit of a lame duck. Really? That was behind it all? Hmmm. Seemed unnecessary.

But I still loved to see everyone in the circus again and enjoyed it, just not as much as I loved some of the editions.

Farren is part of the multi author Black Cat Circus: Pearl of Fate series. Each book is a standalone story but why not enjoy the whole series. This is the story of Farren a gargoyle who is the head of security for the Black Cat Circus and Rourke who is a merman. I loved watching these two figure everything out. I love the way Morgan writes the characters because I become so invested in them. This book was a great feel good fluffy story. This was the last book in this season of the Black Cat Circus and it wrapped up the season wonderfully. I honestly hope they do another season of Black Cat Circus. I would definitely recommend this book and series.

1st person, present tense, dual POV.

Farren, gargoyle (265 in service + 35 free), head of security at BCC
Rourke/Stargazer, merman (22), apprentice historian candidate

While I adored both Farren and Rourke, sweet hearts, flaws and all, I loved the supporting cast of characters nearly as much. The meetcute of Rourke's friend, Cassie, trying to catch Farren's attention was pretty hilarious; I may have snorted when he explained the nature of Cassie's injury to Troy, the medic. One of my favorite small details of this story is how the merfolk communicate with each other though sign language; it is such a obvious solution to the whole difficulty talking underwater issue that I'm surprised the idea isn't more commonplace in PNR.

I loved how, while they recognized that they were fated, they took the time to get to know one another and figure out what their future would look like together. Their communication and chemistry was top-notch but I was absolutely gone for how comforting Rourke was whenever Farren turned to stone. I legitimately swooned!

I'm a sucker for when couples have to work together to achieve a goal or task so Rourke being given a little quest by the council that Farren helped him with was so satisfying to me.

This was a great quick sunny summer day deck read and a lovely conclusion to the BCC season 2. I adored the epilogue, it made me smile and wish I could actually see a BCC show.

In this last installment of the Black Cat Circus: Pearl of Fate, we meet Rourke and get to know Farrren much better. Farren is the gargoyle security leader for the BCC while Rourke is a merman. Can they accept the love that’s promised to them by Fate? Can Farren forgive himself for things that have happened in the past?

I really like Farren as a character and can really understand his struggles. Rourke does his best to help Farren accept and forgive himself for things that have happened. This was a good story, but I can’t say it’s my favorite in the series or by Morgan Lysand. That being said, it’s a good, low angst read.

Spectacular ending to this installment of the Black Cat Circus series! I’ve always loved Farren’s character throughout all of the Black Cat Circus books. His protective nature, and loyalty to all involved in the circus to keep them safe. It was fantastic to read his story and finally see him get his HEA. Rourke is the perfect mer-person for that job. His character just lights up everything, especially Farren. This book was fantastic, especially all of the lore about the Pearl of Fate and how it works. I really hope these authors continue on with the Black Cat Circus books!

It's true that our mental state can affect us physically.

For a gargoyle who believes he is cursed? It's no wonder he turns to stone still after he has been released by his maker. Despite the encouraging words of his friend, it was his mate who built up his self worth. Stargazer's family is also amazing with how well they knew him and what he needed to take a risk and follow his dreams. I hope this isn't the end of Black Cat Circus.
I received an advanced readers copy and am giving my honest review.

I cannot express how much I have enjoyed both seasons of the BCC and this book was the perfect conclusion. I have loved Farren throughout so was really pleased he got his mate as he was really believing he never would! Rourke is a Merman and all he wants is to explore the world but is unable to do so! Luckily fate plays her hand and their journey was such a pleasure to follow. Great relationship build up with oh so much heat! An amazing found family that I really hope continue with another season.
I received a free arc copy and this is my honest review.

I really enjoyed this story it is the fourth and final book in the second series of the Black Cat Circus and I really hope they bring out a third series. This is Farren’s story and it was so great for him to meet his fated mate Rourke/Stargazer who is just perfect for him and helps him build his confidence another really great addition that is well worth a read as is all the books of both series’s.

Farren the gargoyle finally finds his mate in the merman Rourke Stargazer. They realize quickly they are mates and go in search of a "pearl of fate" to save the merman's lake. In the last of this second series of the Black Cat Circus all the loose ends are tied up. Farren and Rourke are very open and plain spoken to each other so there is some minor self angst and happy days ahead. I received a copy of this book and this is my voluntary opinion.
