The writing wasn’t very good at all in this book. It was incredibly repetitive & didn’t present any new information. The author just kept repeating the same facts throughout the entire book. Facts & things about the case that the public already knows or can easily find out for themselves with minimal research.
The short “matter of fact” sentences the author uses midway to the end of each chapter made me want to scream. Sentences like, “That should matter.”, “That is important.”, “That is a pattern.”, “That was not justice.”, “That was…blah blah.”. The one that kept being repeated throughout the entire book…”That is why this chapter matters.”, as though the reader can’t form their own conclusions or see the author’s point of view without being told in these short, repetitive sentences. I understand the author was trying to make a point but it just came off as them taking their opinion & trying to make it seem like a matter of fact.
I do give kudos to the author for trying to get the reader to see this case from a pov that is different from what the court case, media & Gypsy’s family are trying to spin as reality.
I feel as time passes, Gypsy and her family are proving their dysfunction & mental instability on their own though. It’s been a couple of years since Gypsy has been out of prison, putting all their drama out on social media. Especially with the FOIA files, since she’s gotten out of prison the public’s option has shifted a great deal. Even without this book everyone is starting to see Gypsy for who she really is. We also see that DeeDee probably wasn’t exactly what Gypsy claimed she was. Since this book didn’t disclose any new information that we didn’t already know, it just came off as a really long Reddit post from a frustrated Redditor.
Will Gypsy probably still have a large following even after people are starting to see who she really is? Unfortunately yes, because humans crave the drama & Gypsy offers up a ton of it. It’s the unfortunate dark side of humans. That’s why killers like Charles Manson stay infamous long after their own deaths. Even when people still see the truth they still feed off the drama. That’s why she even has a platform to begin with & still has so many followers.

Full of facts
This book looks at the murder of dee dee blanchard from a different angle. Not from the perspective of the woman convicted of second degree murder but the woman that was a caregiver, a mother it goes from dee dees perspective. It goes in detail through medical records, evidence from the case to show that dee dee was not the monster the world believed she was. But a victim.

Very smart book. Everything is backed up by facts. It just shows that murdering someone shouldn’t be something that is celebrated.

Some good information and I agree with the authors perspective but very repetitive and half the time he doesn't even spell Clauddine's name correctly.
