Rate this book
What if Elizabeth Bennet is richer than Darcy, and he has to manage every penny?

Six weeks after refusing Darcy’s disastrous Hunsford proposal, Elizabeth receives what no sensible woman would fifteen thousand a year, a Grosvenor Street townhouse, and a mysterious godmother.

Naturally, there is a catch.

Her next-door neighbor is none other than Mr. Darcy.

He’s also Elizabeth’s trustee—obligated to manage her ledgers, oversee her social calendar, and vet every suitor from lords to rakes. He rules her dance card with an iron hand. All while honoring the promise he made in a rain-soaked that he would never trouble her with his feelings again.

And boy does he keep that promise. He throws balls for her dog, climbs a tree to rescue a baby bird, and pours tea for her mother without flinching. But he is nothing if not incredibly proper with her.

Elizabeth discovers that the most provoking thing about Fitzwilliam Darcy is not that he once loved her too much, but that he now behaves as though he has no right to love her at all.

Yet, Elizabeth Bennet has never been a woman who lets pride, promises, or Mr. Darcy have the last word.

Mr. Darcy's Fortunate Neighbor is one of my top favorites of Ms. Ayala's Pride and Prejudice variations! This is one of the longest P&P variations which greatly added to my enjoyment as I got to spend longer with these characters. Elizabeth Bennet is worth more than Fitzwilliam Darcy which is a marvelous plot twist! Nettle is a great dog and scene stealer. Lady Sophia is a hoot and a great addition to the familiar cast of characters. I was so sorry to reach the end and may have to go back and reread this one!

Thoroughly enjoyable read

The twists and turns of this book, quite enthralled me. Elizabeth inherits a fortune from a lady she had never met, and ends up richer than Darcy. Compounding this her father refuses Darcy's application , to marry E!izabeth. So, spirited girl that she is , she proposes to Darcy, and of course he accepts. A very intriging , confusing, muddling story.

Extremely enjoyable

Elizabeth becomes an heiress which changes many lives! The wonderful woman who gifts her this new life turned out to be one of the best friends of Darcy’s deceased mother. Dear reader…this will set you up for a most diverting story of how Darcy is placed in the position to guide Elizabeth in the deep waters of the TON in London. Enjoy!

Imagine Elizabeth inheriting more than Darcy is worth. Then her benefactor asks Darcy to be her trustee. This was an interesting read with the twist. I fully enjoyed how it all played out for each of them.
