Barcelona with Love was a great summer read! I was a bit worried when I started and was introduced to some insufferable characters, but luckily they played a very minor role in this fabulous book. I loved the writing style and how it was both motivational and informative while also being enjoyable. The plot and message were incredible and well executed, making this a beautiful story with a heartwarming romcom aspect!

Barcelona with Love is an enjoyable travel fiction novel with an added touch of Romance within the storyline.

This was a charming read that is full of adventure and new experiences. The author has really captured the lifestyle and the atmosphere of what Barcelona is like and you can picture being there through the author's writing while reading. This had an incredible range of characters that were all completely different from each other and I really enjoyed learning about each of the characters different journeys and what brought them on their travels.

Overall, this was a great read that I thoroughly enjoyed.

Absolutely loved this story! Was fortunate enough to receive an ARC for this novel and I couldn't get enough of it! The writing style was unique, the story was interesting and very different from anything I had read before, and was overall just an amazing, feel-good story.

Highly recommend to fans of travel, romcoms, or anyone who wishes Hallmark Movies had more depth to them!

This is a very well written book that has vivid and emotive descriptions that will transport you to Barcelona on a backpacking adventure with Noah seeing the sights and falling in love with the characters. It takes you on a journey to Spain and I was devastated when I had to pack my case to come back home and leave it behind 😭 The title, synopsis and cover suit the storyline perfectly.

This book has absolutely stunning and evocative descriptions that set you straight in the scenes. I am quite sad to have actually come to the end of this book and leave Barcelona behind. I am looking forward to seeing what other books Ian have written and what he will come up with next. In this story we meet Noah Perez who is a third year architecture student in Canada. After discovering that his family are descendants of Latino Jews who used to live in Spain Noah wants to go to Spain where his ancestors are from. With his fifth year anniversary of being with his girlfriend Rachel approaching he decides to surprise her with tickets to Barcelona where they can explore his heritage and see the Spanish sights. However, Rachel's family go to the Amalfi Coast annually and this is where she decides to go instead. Instead of a romantic getaway together Noah and Rachel end up breaking up and Noah goes to Barcelona alone. We follow Noah on his backpacking trip vising the architecture of Barcelona, staying in hostels and meeting Phoebe on the way. I loved seeing and trying new things and meeting new people with Noah and was rooting for him throughout. I was not a fan of Rachel and her family so was quietly pleased that Noah left her behind and continued with his travelling plans and even happier when he meets Phoebe on the way! This is one of those books that it really does not matter if you read this in the Summer in the garden under the sun with a cocktail or curled up on the sofa in Winter next to the fire with a hot chocolate as Ian will transport you to Barcelona and under the sun at the turn of a page! It is an authentic and realistic as well as easy to read and heart-warming book that promises that the reader gets completely lost in the pages for hours. Ian's beautiful, vivid fantastic immersive writing skills and gorgeous imagination will keep you sucked in from beginning to end. I completely devoured the book in one sitting of several hours while sunbathing in the garden picturing I was in Barcelona. The characters were all unique with their own realistic traits, strengths, flaws, quirks and weaknesses. It was intriguing to watch and I was completely invested in each and every single one of them keeping my fingers and toes crossed for a happy ever after. Ian really does ensure they come to life at every turn of the page and I was sad to leave them when I came to the end and had to say Goodbye. The fact that Ian truly cares about his characters is obvious in the way he truly brings them to life and ensures the readers can see, feel and hear everything they are. All characters worked perfectly with the storyline, regardless of whether you love them or not (looking at you Rachel lol)!!!

Overall a delightful page turner that will transport you to Barcelona at the turn of a page

Barcelona With Love follows Noah, an architect student books a trip to Barcelona for him and his girlfriend with hopes of getting their relationship back on track while also exploring his family heritage only for everything to unravel in the best possible way. While his original plans change, the adventure that follows gives him a fresh perspective and forces him to examine what happens when life doesn't go to plan.

Noah goes back and forth, but Barcelona wins. He trades comfort for bunk beds and discovers cities he'd only ever dreamed about. The history woven throughout is one of the book's strongest elements — it adds real texture to Noah's journey and made me genuinely root for him.

The strong unbearable itch to travel hits everyone I know and it certainly did to the main character, Noah. I sympathized with him as he internally fights between what he should do and what he wants to do. We've been told by society and family for so long to follow a specific order of life - Go to school, get a job, climb the ladder, keep going until you can't, and then one day finally when you've "made it" you can retire and then and only then can you spend your days relaxing and traveling.

It's a feel-good read, though I found myself wanting Noah to be held more accountable for how he handled the people closest to him. The romantic thread felt inconsistent at times, and his actions didn't always line up with his words. Still — an enjoyable, wanderlust-fueling read that'll make you start looking at flight tickets.

I went into this expecting a romance, but what I found was so much more.

After a breakup turns his anniversary trip into a solo adventure, Noah decides to take the leap and travel to Barcelona on his own. Along the way, he meets people from all over the world, forms unexpected friendships, and discovers that sometimes stepping outside your comfort zone can lead to the most memorable experiences.

As I was reading, I couldn't help but think of Eat, Pray, Love..not because the stories are the same, but because they both capture how travel has a way of changing you when you least expect it. This felt like a male perspective on that same idea, and I found myself appreciating the journey just as much as the romance.

I also enjoyed how Mr Ostroff showed us that traveling alone doesn't always mean being lonely. Sometimes all it takes is being open to new experiences and new people for an ordinary trip to become something unforgettable.

While parts of the romance developed a little faster than I would have liked, it fit the whirlwind feeling of traveling and experiencing everything for the first time. The ending wasn't what I expected, but after sitting with it, I think it was exactly the ending this story needed.

More than anything, Noah's trip to Barcelona reminded me that life doesn't begin when everything is perfectly planned. Sometimes you just have to go.

But that doesn’t need to be your life; do what Noah does, live a little, then look at your options with a wider worldview. I found this book incredibly inspirational and see a lot of myself in Noah. This story didn't quite hit the mark for me. It was predominantly a story of Noah discovering himself while backpacking for 2 weeks across Europe. It was kind of a pilgrimage. I found the whole backpacking aspect really interesting. I've never done any travelling like that before, so reading about it made it sound quite appealing. Being able to make friends quickly and spending your time just discovering the history of the country your in, sounds exciting. However, the romance side fell a little flat for me. It felt a little unnecessary. Noah was only away for 2 weeks and had just split from his 5 year relationship. If he had formed a friendship, that would have been a bit more believable to me.

There were some really lovely characters written in this story. The fellow backpackers were so welcoming and let Noah join in immediately which made his solo adventuring just that bit easier for him. However, there were a few really annoying characters like Rachel and her family. They had a very different vibe and didn't do Noah's confidence any good. They were so dominating that Noah hadn't really been able to be true to himself.

This was a story about Noah and his discovery of his Wanderlust and the decisions he would have to make - the big, corporate job or more world exploration?

Noah has been dating Rachel for five years, and he plans to surprise her with a trip to Barcelona for their anniversary. The only problem is Rachel doesn’t want to go, she would rather go with her family on their annual trip to Italy.
Rachel and Noah were terrible together. She wants to control the relationship and she has no problem telling Noah how she really feels. She’s always complaining about his choices, what he says, what he does, and how he acts. He can do nothing right in her eyes, but she claims to love him.
The good news is he goes to Barcelona and some other locations on his own. And that’s a good thing because they really needed some time apart. He needed to think and experience, meet new people on his own. Between his parents and Rachel he was always trying to make them happy. Now away from everyone, he was making himself happy. He meets people, goes out, tries new things, and meets Phoebe. She is different from Rachel, in that he sees how she is open and taking chances, and he wants to more like her.
This was a book on personal growth, relationships, going for what you want, and making yourself happy. It was a captivating travel journal mixed with home life and everything he leaves behind in order to discover what he wants.

I really enjoyed this book. Noah was such a timid character and his anxiety for trying new things gave me anxiety about the unknown. This read made me want to travel the world, meet and connect with strangers and see the beauty in different cities. I loved Phoebe, I loved her attitude toward life. You only get one life to live and you should definitely live it to the fullest.

I totally get where Noah was coming from, most people do grow up just to work a 9-5 for the rest of their lives and it sounds so depressing. It made me reflect on my own life and how little adventures I've taken, especially because of the fear of the unknown.

I was a little sad with the ending, but I understand why it had to be the way it was. Both Noah and Phoebe were growing and learning as people from their shared experiences and their time apart. A different kind of happily ever after. Noah learned so much about himself during his travels. Things, people and places come and go in life, and that's the beauty of it. You live and you learn and you have fun along the way.

This was such a sweet story and I would recommend it to anyone thinking of taking time away from the hussle and bustle to travel and see more of the world. You could learn a thing or two along the way. Just do the scary things, you're soul will thank you.

Highly recommended if you like travel stories about self-discovery.

This book offers a great adventure of someone who needed to see more of the world, and meet a lot of people in order to better understand himself and the decisions he needed to make to grow.

The book title might suggest that this is a love story but I found it more so a story about how loving someone and being loved can put you in your place and remind you that life isn’t straightforward. Predictability isn’t guaranteed, even if you feel you’ve already achieved happiness. Sometimes you need to go outside your comfort zone to figure out what it is that you actually need to proceed in life.

The main character’s quest to figure out what he should be doing with his life is a struggle that most of us face, especially when finishing up school and gearing up for our next chapter of life. I found that aspect of the story very relatable and it reminded me of my own journey post-graduation.

I enjoyed reading about all the characters in Noah’s travels. It reminded me of my traveling days.

I found Noah to be a little naive at times, but it seemed to be attributed to his sheltered upbringing so it made sense.

With an itinerary and the traveling itch, Noah ends up going on the trip alone. What ensues is the greatest adventure of his life! From seeing beautiful architecture and enjoying delicious food, to forming friendships with fellow travelers and meeting someone that will in fact change the way he thinks about life, will he ever want to go home?

This book was a journey of not just discovering other amazing countries, but a journey of discovering yourself.

While I've never done a European backpacking trip, this book had me living vicariously through Noah. There were numerous times the story made me stop and think about life. And while I might no longer be college age, this book made me remember the wanderlust I had at the same age.

This was a wonderful story full of heart and adventure!

My initial thought on this book was that it was going to be more of a romance read. It did feature romance but so much more.

When Noahs surprise trip for him and his girlfriend to celebrate their anniversary falls flat he takes a leap of faith and goes backpacking alone.

The author's descriptions of the places and people Noah encounters are in depth and very well written.

Backpacking wasn't a thing when I was younger and it sounds like an incredible experience.

Unfortunately I didn't connect with Noah and found him to be very naïve and annoying at times. His actions didn't always match his words and I felt he let some people down. Equally, I wasn't keen on Rachel and felt she was trying to mould him into something he wasn't.

It was certainly good to see him grow during his trip. His relationship with Phoebe certainly gave him a lot to reflect on.

This is a well written travel story with some romance but my main take away from it is about how growing up and experiences can change your life choices and outlook.

For someone like myself who is not well travelled at all, I found the backpacking/ travelling aspect really interesting. I loved hearing about the places seen and the people met.
Noah was an interesting guy, longing for adventure, but completely walked over by so many people. I really didn't like Rachel, her family, or his family. I thought they were all completely obnoxious and snobbish.
Phoebe was interesting, at times I really liked her, her attitude to life and her future success was inspiring, but then she would completely overreact to something and came across as quite unstable.
I would have liked to have known what came next for Noah - I had visions of his subterfuge being discovered and him losing all opportunities, but the book ends before we see any of this, I think this was a missed opportunity to fully explore his change of character by seeing how he handled this kind of thing.
It's a quick read, I finished it in 2 sittings over 24hours. The cover is vibrant. It's a different story to what I normally read and overall it was quite enjoyable.

Who doesn’t love a book about travel, adventure and romance? I was drawn to this story by the author’s bio. He was interested in his Sephardic Jewish family heritage and incorporated it into this story of a young man seeking answers at a crossroads in life. About to finish is final year in Architecture school in Canada Noah plans a trip to Barcelona to explore his family roots and find artistic inspiration. What was less interesting about him was his taste in romantic partners but that may have been just youthful indiscretion. This seemed to be a man who was drawn to women who liked to put him down. The travel and the chance to meet interesting people and give into the wonders what’s out there was what kept me reading and reliving my travels in Europe. I wish the author had put more into his journey finding his family background but that may be for further books down the line!

Overall such a cute travel romcom. Noah started off being somewhat immature and irresponsible, but that’s expected given how young he is. He lacked supportive relationships but still followed his heart that led to Barcelona.

He learned a lot of lessons along the way and the author does a great job describing them! I do wish there were more descriptive details about characters/locations throughout. The ending was opposite of what I was expecting but it made it all the better!!

This is a delightful travel fiction book that had me reminiscing about my own back packing adventures many decades ago. The book is centred around 23 year old Noah Pérez, who travels solo to the wonderful city of Barcelona when his girlfriend Rachel chooses a family holiday over accompanying him. He is nervous but meets many like minded travellers. He enjoys the architecture and culture, his architectural studies making this location full of magnificent sights including the Park Guell and the Sagrada Família all the more interesting to him. I loved this book - Noah’s travels to Barcelona and beyond and the ups and downs of his romantic life. I related to many aspects of the story although in my travelling times there was no Duolingo, Google Maps or even mobile phones! I took the happiness is wealth message from the book and encourage any one of any age to take on a similar adventure to somewhere near or far.

Okay, this book started really strong. I could realeate to this book a lot. The longer I read the less interested in it I was. This story could be less focused about love and more about finding his background, less acting like a teenager - but that comes from his upbringing so I understand. I would like more descriptions about the travels so I could really get into it. The ones that were written were really beautiful, and the language author used od great.

I would also like more of what happened after. Or a longer conclusion at the end. But maybe we get it in the next book.

Overall, It's a good summer book. Not the best, but good.

I had a nice time reading this book and for me, I think there was a type of nostalgic feel to it. I loved the journey Noah goes through after his breakup with Rachel as he eventually comes to learn a lot of things about life. I think that he's definitely improved and found himself throughout his solo travel because if he hadn't taken that step, I think he wouldn't be the way that he is now. His encounter with Phoebe when travelling had also helped shape the way that he is. I did find Rachel's character to be annoying and very immature because she seemed to control Noah's life for him rather than letting him decide for himself. The way she handled the news of Noah not joining her family to Italy and the break up frustrated me. Phoebe, on the other hand, she was very different, she was enthusiastic and outgoing and had made Noah feel some type of way. Though, there was a point where I thought she was being unfair to Noah for making him decide to stay with her or go back to his studies but eventually she told him to not let her stop him from chasing his dreams. And can we just talk about the ending?! Like what happened?! I did not expect that at all! I won't spoil it too much but I was rooting for them!

What you learn from this book is that not everything in life can go the way you want it to and it happens for a reason. Eventually, life takes you down that path unexpectedly and if it's not meant to be, it's not meant to be.

I look forward to see what the author comes up with in his next book!

This is the story of Noah who goes to Barcelona to find himself. After finishing his studies and unsure about his relationship he decides to go to the Spanish city to discover the place his grand-parents were from.
Meeting other backpackers there helps him find his way.

I have really enjoyed reading this story. It reminded me of my own discovery of Barcelona in Youth Hostels and the new friendships you make travelling this way.

This story also shows how new connections/friendships can lead you to make decisions that change the way you thought your life was heading to.
In that way it reminded me of books like Eat, Pray, Love.

I must say, romance/ romantic comedies are certainly not my usual type of read, but I think it's important for authors to have the perspective of readers who are not necessarily their target audience, so I try to read outside of my comfort zone as often as possible. And in this instance, I'm glad I did, as i enjoyed this.

This was a nice change of pace for me from my usual Sci-fi / Fantasy and I really enjoyed the easy reading. It's a charming, nostalgic tale of love and loss combined with a travel novel, which I found to be a great mix.

There's quite a varied cast of characters here and the author has done a wonderful job of making each and every one believable, which is a must for me.

I’m personally a huge fan of travel fiction and romance novels so having a book that incorporates both was very appealing to me!

I really enjoyed the book as a whole. The travel made me want to actually visit these places, the characters felt very real and while it didn’t end the way I thought it would, it definitely ended the way it needed to.

I did have to remind myself that the characters are younger (they’re in their 20s) so some of the things they did really irked me (30s) but that made the story better.

I had a great time reading this book and I’ll read more from the author for sure!

Barcelona with Love, by Ian Ostroff, is an entertaining travel romcom. Following a breakup, main character, 23-year-old Noah Pérez, travels alone to beautiful Barcelona on what would have been an anniversary trip. The story follows the people he meets and the unlikely new relationships that develop.

The underlying message is to keep going. Readers are reminded that life changes, and sometimes it is necessary to push ahead without knowing what lies ahead. Sub-themes include perseverance, relationships, the quest for happiness, European travel, and culture.

I hope to read more by this talented writer.

This was such a different book than I was expecting and I loved that!
What I thought was going to be a fairly standard story of a man going on a solo adventure after a breakup ended up throwing some big life questions in and offering a whole journey of self discovery! 😍
I was concerned at first when we meet some certain awkward sounding characters but was happy they didn't stay too long. The way Noah has lived his life over the past few years was completely relatable and his inner thoughts and feelings are undoubtedly what we've all experienced at some point!
The ending wasn't what I was expecting at all but it worked really well and I'd definitely recommend reading this 💕

I was excited to read this (I got a little behind hence being a bit late for my tour spot so I apologise!!)

Poor Noah always trying to make people happy, darn people pleasing 😕 when he goes to Barcelona will this be his time to find himself or not?

It's a book I'm sure we can all relate to at some point with trying to work out who we are and what we should be doing.

Was fun to travel with him and meet the rest of the characters who defo had some not so likeable personalities but isn't that life we aren't going to like everyone. (Here's looking at you Rachel)

This isnt your typical romance story. Thos dives into self discovery and a trip of a lifetime.

While Noah had to decide on following his heart, to learn and experience a new country and family roots- or follow his girlfriend of 5 years. Honestly i am so glad he chose Spain 🇪🇸

This book really makes you sit and think about life, and taking an opportunity to follow your heart, discover new cultures, and make new friends.

It felt real amd relatable, I am now planning my own trip to Europe 😅
If you like self discovery, traveling, and new friends this is for you.

This was such a fun book. It was a little bit slow to start but I feel like it really picked up with the start of the trip to Barcelona. From there it was game on. The characters they were all unique flaws and all. I liked the travel component of this story and the details of the experience itself. One other thing that I liked was the personal growth and the relationships that were formed along the way in this story. Overall, this was a great book and a decent read. I really enjoyed the trip this book took me on. I was reminded of my own solo travel adventures on the Trans-Siberian railway and Central Europe - turns out I’m getting a bit too old for a hostel or more to the point the top bunk!

I love that Noah finds himself on this trip through his experiences and new found friendships.

I’ve always believed that everything happens for a reason and what will be will be and this book really shows both those mantras. I recommend a read.

I enjoyed this book. It’s a story about finding yourself, making choices, and stepping out of your comfort zone.
I didn’t agree with some of Noah’s choices. but it made the story feel more real.

If you like self-discovery / coming-of-age stories with a travel vibe, you might enjoy this one.

This book is filled with heart and adventure, and will instill a need for wanderlust. This was marketed to me as a romance novel, but it read as a journey of self discovery and a reminder that doing what is right for you doesn't always look the same for everyone else! Personal growth is mapped throughout Noah's story and it was a refreshing read!
