I came to Briar Hollow to fix a PR disaster—not fall for the man at the center of it.
I’m a numbers first PR strategist who prefers spreadsheets over small talk.
My rebrand Warden Security after a viral video makes them look like small-town thugs.
My I’m forced to work side-by-side with Colt Warden, acting COO.
Former underground fighter.
Local legend with a criminal record no one will explain.
Colt is grumpy, intimidating, and thirteen years older than me. Exactly the kind of man I should avoid, especially because he’s my client.
When someone breaks into my rental house, Colt insists I move into the apartment above the security office “until the threat passes.”
Forced proximity turns late-night work sessions into lingering looks.
Kitchen run-ins become charged with tension.
Our staged “date night” for a publicity stunt goes dangerously off script. The chemistry between us isn’t fake at all.
Just when I start seeing the man behind Colt’s armor, the truth comes out. Years ago, he took the fall for his brother, sacrificing his own future to protect his family.
Now the same people who ruined Colt’s life are back. And targeting Warden Security, and me.
Colt wants me far away from the danger.
I refuse to run.
When I uncover the financial trail that could finally clear Colt’s name, the threat turns personal. The only way to survive is to stand together.
In Briar Hollow, secrets never stay buried.
But sometimes the truth can build something stronger than reputation.
And sometimes the grumpiest man in town turns out to be the one worth coming home to.

This was such an intense and suspenseful story filled with steam. I loved both of the main characters. The threats and danger. What was supposed to be a ploy was turning into so much more. And the FMC was being targeted while she was digging things up to prove the innocence of the MMC. I loved the tension between the two and the feelings they were building between one another. I was so drawn in and really loved reading this one.
