What would happen if Edgar Allan Poe did not die in 1849 but instead was turned into a vampire? Follow this tale of our friend Edgar in modern day as he struggles to find love once again.
In brief, this novel was not to my liking. The first half, from Bel's perspective, was a tad slow—Edgar's bit really allowed the novel to take off. I appreciated the eloquent dialogue and description from Edgar's perspective. Unfortunately, Bel's dialogue was redundant and nearly had me putting down the novel. I thought the way the author handled tying in various details and plot/sub-plot points was praiseworthy, and I commend the author for consistency. I also found most of the historical points regarding Edgar to be accurate, which only lends credence to a relatively historically fictitious novel. Unfortunately, the weaker writing in the first half, whether intentional or otherwise, and the cliché plot did not do it for me. Over all, an interesting take on Poe—just personally wasn't a fan.
I'm not really sure how I feel about this one. The concept was unique & kinda neat for Poe fans but I didn't really connect with the characters all that much. In fact Bel kinda annoyed me. Even still I couldn't stop reading. I'm not even sure why, but I wanted to finish it. I'm really on the fence with this one.
