The Edge of Darkness

Stepping into the fae realm was just the beginning.
Accepting her fate was half the battle.
Now, the realms are readying for war, and a twist of fate threatens to change everything.
All Auren has to do is survive long enough to fulfill the prophecy.

Auren Everton, a human with the blood of the gods, has found herself at the center of heartless schemes and deadly magic that are beyond what she was prepared for. Her mate, The High Lord of Calledan, sits in chains, battling threats from the outside world, and from within himself. His Trium, unrivaled in their loyalty, will do anything to help Auren get him back. But when unexpected visitors arrive with fate-altering claims, the foundation of everything the group once knew is shaken. As history is called into question, new alliances are forged, but it will soon become clear that not everyone is who or what they claimed to be.

Faced with new struggles of both the mind and the heart, Auren and her newfound family must determine what level of self-sacrifice they will go to for the ones they love, even if it means challenging fate.

One thing is certain: War is coming, and everyone will soon find out . . . there can be no light without darkness.

The Lies of Mortals was one of my favourite reads from last year and book two is just as good. This is a fantastic debut series with a beautiful and intricate world layered with great characters, monsters and a sprinkling of Gods. I loved the details of the varying courts from book one and was glad to see more from the different courts in book two. There are so many characters to fall in love with and agonise over, and the found family aspects are really heartwarming. It's a good chunky book that pacts a lot of information, and I'm still not quite recovered after that ending!

Highly recommended this series!

Thanks to Malarie for the early ARC!

SPOILER FREE | BETA READER REVIEW:

This series has firmly secured its place as my all-time favorite, and the fact that we don't even have Book 3 yet says everything.

As much as I loved Book 1, Book 2 completely blew me away. If you haven't started this series yet, you're truly missing out on something special.

If you love immersive, beautifully descriptive storytelling that pulls you into the world and refuses to let go, this series is for you. Malarie's writing is exquisite—rich, captivating, and layered with details that make every page feel intentional. One of my favorite things about her storytelling is her ability to weave in Easter eggs where you least expect them, rewarding attentive readers in the most satisfying ways. And just when the tension reaches its peak, her perfectly timed comic relief reminds you why you're so attached to these characters in the first place.

And trust me when I say—you need to buckle up. This book is an emotional roller coaster. You'll laugh, cry, stress, cheer, and probably stare at a wall processing everything once you're finished. The journey Auren, Niall, and their crew embark on is unforgettable. Their relationships, loyalty, and unwavering devotion to one another create some of the most heartfelt moments in the story. I especially loved the banter between the men who have collectively decided that anyone who even thinks about hurting Auren will have to answer to all of them. There's just something about multiple protective men delivering variations of "touch her and die" that never gets old.
Auren continues to shine as a heroine, stepping further into a destiny that feels both inevitable and hard-earned. Watching her grow while being surrounded by people willing to stand beside her through anything makes her journey even more compelling.

And then there's Nivelle.
Nivelle is my girl. Without question, one of my favorite characters in the entire series. She is fierce, hilarious, unapologetically herself, and an absolute badass. Every scene she's in is better because she's there, and I desperately need more of her in future books. She was the perfect addition to an already incredible cast and quickly became a standout character for me.

By the time you reach the final page, you'll be desperate for more. I genuinely don't know how I'm supposed to survive the wait for the final book in this series. What I do know is that Malarie has built something truly special, and I have complete faith that she'll bring this story to the ending it deserves.

This book was incredible. I'm honestly shocked more people aren't talking about this series. If you loved When the Moon Hatched, there is a very good chance you'll absolutely devour these books. The immersive world-building, emotional depth, and unforgettable characters scratched the same itch for me while still feeling completely unique.

Well done, Malarie. I cannot wait to see how this story ends.

A breathtaking masterpiece. The Edge of Darkness makes Weber's name synonymous with epic fantasy.

First she was forced to flee the only home she's ever known. Then she was forced to confront that everything she's ever known has been a lie. That she possesses a power greater than any this world has ever seen. Now, Auren and all those she holds dear will face their greatest threat. Fate hangs in the balance, war is on the horizon, and light is nothing without darkness.

Welp. I cried. And I think the only reason I never full blown sobbed was because I'm still in shock from what I just read. Malarie Weber has given us a truly remarkable second entry into The Lies of Mortals series. It's very rare, in my opinion, to find a series where the second book is better than the first. But that's what we have here folks.

Book one, The Lies of Mortals, was single POV and told exclusively through the lense of our FMC Auren Everton. The Edge of Darkness takes that single POV, tosses it into the garbage can, and whips out one of the most masterful transitions from single POV to multi-POV I have ever read. Balancing a story through the eyes of multiple characters is no easy feat and Weber gives us not one, not two, but five POVs. And god bless her, Malarie also gives us a recap of what happened in book one which was a huge help for someone who tends to forget the details very quickly and carry on with vibes alone.

I'd say that about 60% of this book is exposition. Things are building towards the final confrontation with Lyceius and everything is slowly falling into place. But that doesn't mean there isn't plenty of action, I just felt like most of this novel things remained within the current status quo. Then, we reach the last 40% of this book and it's non-stop anxiety, action, audible gasping, and tears. I went from being full engaged but calm and collected to gripping the edge of my seat with tears running down my cheeks.

I loved getting to know the other characters better, especially those for which we now had a POV. And Malarie also introduces a host of new faces that really round out the story and fully flesh out this narrative. Of the newbies, Nivelle was my favorite and I really look forward to learning more about her in the next book. There is a story there, she's more than she seems. We also got to enjoy not just Auren's romance with Niall but also two more romances with varying degrees of page time. And of course, the time we spent with Auren and Niall was fantastic as always.

I'll admit, until I got to the end I was skeptical about how Malarie could continue this story after giving us everything she gave us in this installment but after turning that final page I know that she has so much more in store for us and I am famished for more already.

Thank you so much to Malarie for the advance reader copy.

ARC Review (no spoilers)
This book picks up where the first one ended and that felt like an endless, head-spinning journey, but this one... SO much has happened!!! Secrets come to light, the world grows, relationships develop and there is love, thrill, politics, gods, magic, bargains...

The plot feels like a pulse - always moving, never really stopping or giving much time to pause. And if a book that is over 800 pages can keep my attention all the way through... well, that's a good sign.

With the multiple POVs, I got to know the characters better and see situations through different eyes. Everything feels intentional and if you pay attention close enough, you'll find the threads that prove it. It's dark and emotional, funny and at times brutal and sad. I laughed and cried, and lost track of time.

Auren and Niall are a perfect romantasy couple and the people closest to them wonderfully colour this story.
And that ending... I did see it coming, but even knowing that didn't make it any less surprising when I got there.

This book made me think about how tiny the space between light and darkness can be... Just one decision, one moment, before there's even time to think about the consequences, can change the future. And how little control there can be in desperate times... Even without a clue, with just hope, we still have to take the next step, never knowing whether it will save us or destroy everything we’re fighting for. And at times like these... maybe it's natural to do anything just to move forward, to win. To fight, to love, to survive...

For those who have an ACOTAR hangover, these books could definitely help with that. Personally, I don't mind the similarities here, because this world and these characters have their own story to tell, with their own voice and history.

Thank you, Malarie, for having me on the ARC team! (I didn't get on the ARC train for Book1, so imagine my joy when I got on it now!)

⚔️ Dark fantasy. Fated mates. Ancient magic. Found family. And a war that threatens to consume everything. ⚔️

If The Lies of Mortals was the spark, The Edge of Darkness is the wildfire. 🔥

Malarie Weber returns with a sequel that is darker, deeper, and even more emotionally devastating than the first book. The stakes are higher, the secrets cut sharper, and the bond between these characters feels stronger than ever. From the very first page, the story pulls you back into a world on the edge of collapse—where destiny is no longer something looming in the distance, but something actively unraveling around them.

Auren Everton continues to be one of my favorite fantasy heroines, even down to her name. It feels unique, powerful, and unforgettable in a way that perfectly reflects who she is, and Malarie gave her an identity that feels entirely her own in a genre where that can be hard to do. Watching her step further into her power while carrying the weight of prophecy, sacrifice, and impossible choices made her journey feel incredibly compelling. She’s fierce without losing her heart, and every challenge she faces only adds more depth to her character.

Malarie’s writing continues to be one of the strongest parts of this series. Her storytelling is immersive, richly detailed, and layered in a way that makes the world feel alive. Every scene feels intentional, and the pacing keeps you locked in from beginning to end. I truly love her writing style, and she has a way of making it really connect with the reader.

This book is also an emotional roller coaster in the best way possible. You will laugh, stress, cry, scream internally, and probably stare at a wall for a while after finishing. The emotional depth in these relationships—romantic, platonic, and familial—is what truly makes this series stand out for me.

By the final page, I was left desperate for more and emotionally unwell in the best possible way. The Edge of Darkness solidified this series as one of my all-time favorites, and I genuinely cannot wait to see how Malarie Weber brings everything together in the next book.

If you love:
🗡 dark fantasy
🗡 fated mates
🗡 slow burn romance
🗡 found family
🗡 prophecy & ancient magic
🗡 morally gray characters
🗡 touch her and die
🗡 emotional damage
🗡 fierce heroines
🗡 protective MMCs
🗡 fae courts & political tension
🗡 “who did this to you?” energy

…then The Edge of Darkness deserves a spot on your TBR immediately.

I need to talk about the beginning because I loved it! It took off right from where The Lies of Mortals ended in all the action. There's plotting and scheming, political court drama, romantic frustrations, revolutions, and just enough power tensions to excite anyone who picks this book up.

Also totally climactic scenes that really tore up my emotions as anyone in my vicinity could tell from the tears streaming down my cheeks to the absolute shock that was on my face reading the final four words.. Legit threw my kidle on the bed and stood shook by what I just read.

There is so much more information obtained by the use of multi-POV's. The different style of writing/reading allows an insight into more thoughts and emotions and it created deeper bonds with the characters and myself because of it. the multiple POV's offer a deeper insight into the new relationships developed during the plot. Yes its a lot of emotions and thoughts and voices all coming at you but they are all amazing and incredible in their own way. A few new couples quickly made their way to my favorites and I loved seeing them manifesting into a heart stopping romance. I highlighted so many beautiful quotes while i read my clippings in my kindle are filled with sweet romantic words shared between these couples.

On top of all that you've also got:
Dionachs - Basically fallen angel like winged sworn warriors to give their life for their charges.
Dreki - you can call them dragons but more unique
Witches - Really popping off with my girl Nivelle here!!
Gods and Goddesses - No explanantion needed, every great fantasy read has to have em!
Fae - Because we can never get enough
Unknown magic - Adds a little Pizazz to the read
Magical Stones - giving off thanos avengers endgame energy

THANK YOU SO MUCH MALARIE WEBER FOR THE ARC READ!!! I CANNOT WAIT FOR BOOK 3!!

The Edge Of Darkness by Malarie Weber is the sequel to one of my all time favorite books ~ The Lies Of Mortals.

This book is just ~ amazing. There is so much I want to say but at the same time I’m completely speechless with how absolutely epic the story & characters are.

I found myself both wanting to hurry and read to find out what was going to happen next and wanting to take my time because I didn’t want the book to end.

Aurens character really shined in this book & I loved that she wasn’t instantly a master at wielding her magic and had her struggles making her a more real character and so much different from the typical ‘chosen one’.

Niall our High Lord of Calledan was of course everything he promised us to be in book one plus so much more & dare I say the king of all shadow wielding mmcs.

One thing I really love about this book is the author did such a beautiful job with these characters ~ you love them all and we get to see so much of each of their stories unfold in this second book making them all absolutely stunning.

Trust me when I say this book is pure magic. The writing style just flowed perfectly & never offered up a dull moment. Every page had me captivated & reading late into the night because I just had to find out what was going to happen next.

The Edge Of Darkness is everything I wanted in a sequel to one of my all time favorite books & more. The realm, the story, the characters - I just absolutely LOVED this book.

Both book 1 & 2 have a prized spot on my bookshelf { I’m going to need every edition to hoard like a dragon } and I will forever recommend them to every fantasy/romantasy reader looking for their next favorite book series.

I only just finished reading & I could already grab book one off my shelf and go on this magical adventure with these dearly loved characters again.

I absolutely loved The Lies of Mortals, so I had very high expectations going into The Edge of Darkness. It did not disappoint.

There is so much more to discover in this book. We learn more about the fae world, its history, the magic and politics, while also realizing how much Auren and the others still don’t know about what is happening around them.

I really loved getting the additional POVs. I was already attached to Auren, Niall and the Trium, but being able to see what some of the other characters were thinking and feeling made me even more invested in all of them. I also absolutely loved Nivelle and what she brought to the story.

The relationships are probably my favorite part of this series. I still love Auren and Niall, but I really enjoyed watching the friendships and other relationships develop too. There were so many moments that gave me the same butterflies I loved in the first book, along with plenty of banter, loyalty and protectiveness between the characters.

Malarie’s writing continues to be so detailed while still being easy to follow. There is A LOT going on in this story between the fae, witches, gods, magic, prophecy and politics, but I never felt lost. Just like with The Lies of Mortals, you get all of the detail and world building I want from high fantasy without it becoming overwhelming.

The second half completely sucked me in. There were things I suspected were coming and others I absolutely did not. Even when I thought I had figured something out, I usually only had part of it right.

By the end I had experienced just about every emotion possible. I was happy, angry, nervous, heartbroken and still somehow hoping everything was going to work out.

I was not prepared for those final chapters. AT ALL.

I was already utterly obsessed with this series after The Lies of Mortals, and now I am even more invested in these characters and need answers to approximately a million questions.

Thank you Malarie for the opportunity to receive and review an ARC of The Edge of Darkness and to be part of the street team. I cannot wait to see where you take this story next.

Wow. It's 5:30 a.m. and I just finished this. I'm not even sure I have enough words to properly complete a sentence so here's what I've got: Incredible. Fierce. Compelling. Action-packed. Swoon-worthy. Tragic. Exciting. Dark. Deadly.

Malarie has truly outdone herself with this. Yes, it's lengthy but it doesn't feel like it is. Like Lies of Mortals, I eagerly consumed each word, every character, and all of the intricately weaved plotlines throughout.

Auren and Niall are all I want them to be and then some. Their chemistry, the banter, the spice and their bond was everything.

But the side characters, though I'm loathe to reduce them to that because they are so much more, truly steal the scene. I love how we get POVs from the Trium in this, as well as Auren and Niall. Remic, Rioardan and Aremis truly shine in this book.

Maeson and Nivelle are stars in their own right, and I was so impressed with how fierce Nivelle was. And let's not forget Silas, Breck and Weston, my guys from book 1 who also stole my heart a little.

I feel like this could have been wrapped up as a duet with a few more chapters, but that little wtf moment at the end leads to another book and let me tell you: I'm not mad at it. I am really looking forward to seeing what happens next.

And Malarie, if you read this: I have a bone to pick with you. Ma'am, you know what you did and I am not pleased! You have broken me, and we will discuss this later.

Until then... Happy reading, book friends!

SIX STAR READ !!! ARC REVIEW ✨✨✨✨✨✨
TLOM was a great read but this book was a league of its own. Picking up right where we left off and not stoping. I was blown away by the plot twists and how all the pieces fell. My heart ached from the POVS of the male characters. Feeling their vulnerability, insecurities and their love for their brotherhood. Every single page had a purpose in this novel and that is rare to find. The expansive world building and the use of the Gods and fates in this book was so interesting I was hooked. Even the newly introduced characters became favourites quickly and served a higher purpose in this novel. I can’t rave enough about it or sum up the emotional rollercoaster that is this book. I laughed, smiled, gasped and the last 150 pages RUINED me. Like sitting in bed sobbing ruined me. The cliffhanger ending had me wanting to scream and I just know the darkness of the next book is going to cause some serious emotional damage and I am here for it.

If you are looking for a fantasy novel series that has relatable characters, epic lore, romance and a plot that will leave you wanting more then pick up The lies of mortals. And if you are looking for a book that is filled with brotherhood, yerning, romance , epic plot twists that you would never see coming, non stop ( and I mean non stop) action, that will have you on the edge of your seat - then pick up book two The Edge of Darkness in TLOM series. Just make sure you bring the tissues.

This is such a hard book for me to rate because there were parts I absolutely loved and other parts where I struggled with the pacing. This world is HUGE, incredibly detailed, and clearly so much thought has gone into every piece of it. But because there is so much happening and so much detail… there were definitely times when I found myself getting bored and wishing things would move a little faster.

That being said, I was completely invested!!

Auren, Niall, and the entire crew have become characters I genuinely love. The relationships, loyalty, found family, and the way everyone rallies around each other are some of my favorite parts of this series. I am a SUCKER for found family!!!

The world-building is incredibly immersive! This is a massive story with so many moving pieces, characters, relationships, and details to keep track of.
At 800+ pages, there were sections that felt slower than they needed to be, and I think that kept this from being a full five-star read for me. But even when the pacing dragged, I never stopped caring about what was going to happen to my people!

And THAT ENDING.

For a book that occasionally had me wishing it would hurry up, it certainly knew how to make sure I wanted the next one. 😂 There are so many pieces still waiting to fall into place, and I need to know how this story ends.

Am I feral for book 3 now???
Without a doubt.

First, THANK YOU to Malarie and the team for an EARC of this book 🙏🏻❤️💋

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The Edge of Darkness by Malarie Weber

If you thought The Lies of Mortals was intense, The Edge of Darkness is here to prove that Malarie Weber was only getting started.

This series has completely sucked me in. 😭 The magic, the tension, the romance, the found family, the betrayals, the twists—EVERYTHING feels bigger. Just when you think you have a handle on where the story is going, Weber throws another piece onto the board and suddenly you’re questioning everything.

What I loved most was that the story never loses the heart underneath all the chaos. I swear it’s gonna go with me to my grave 🪦❤️

And the twists? I’m saying NOTHING. 🤐

If you love romantasy with fated mates, slow-burn romance, dangerous fae, powerful magic, found family, delicious banter, high stakes, and characters you will become emotionally attached to, you NEED this series on your TBR. (Like.. RIGHT NOW..)

Malarie Weber has created a world that feels huge, immersive, and wonderfully unpredictable—and The Edge of Darkness takes everything I loved about the first book and turns the volume ALL the way up. This is my first ever fantasy series, and boy am I a SUCKER FOR IT 🥹✨

Come for the fae. Stay for the romance. Buckle up for the chaos. And then immediately turn the page. 🖤✨

I had to re-read The Lies of Mortals before I embarked on this advanced reader opportunity of The Edge of Darkness.

I loved all the different pov’s that existed within this book. I thought it was very well thought out and it really worked to tie up any loose ends when Auren finally ascended. I really thought that the fight at the end with Lyceius was well written. I am definitely holding my breath to find out what happened with Nivelle and what the cost was for her to cast the spell to release the Aether! (& obviously Niall!) I loved the different relationships that developed and the story development of Remic. I am heartbroken that he is dead. I definitely cried when he and Saxon died. The twist that Saxon was Niall’s dionach was insane and that he and Remic were connected. I loved this book!!!! I do wish that the Aether would have been written to be before the conflict with Auren and Lyceius had concluded. I think maybe going back and forth between them to have it happen at the same time instead of finding out it happened during the conflict and then finding out how it went down after would have been better. It kind of took away from the suspense of knowing if they would be successful with the spell because you already knew that it was because of what happened during the fight.

Thank you so much for the advanced copy!

Thank you so much Malarie for my gifted copy in exchange for my honest review!!

This series never ceases to amaze me!!

This has to be one of the strongest found family tropes I’ve ever read, and I genuinely adore the friendships between the characters throughout both books. The bonds they’ve formed feel so authentic, and I love how much those relationships add to the story.

I was absolutely thrilled with the addition of Nivelle, who has quickly become one of my favorite characters! I also loved getting more POVs in this book as it gave us such a deeper look into the characters and the world and I was so happy about it!

The writing in these books is incredible. You’re completely pulled into the world from the very beginning, and the world building is so descriptive and beautifully written that I never once felt confused or lost.

This book put me THROUGH IT.
I cried. I laughed. I felt everything.

An absolute emotional roller coaster, and I enjoyed every second of it!

This is easily one of my favorite Dark Romantasy series of all time!

Tropes:
Found Family
Fated Mates
Multiple POV
Protective MMC’s
Ancient Magic
Prophecy
Gods and Goddesses

Ohhh heavenly wonderfullness ✨🤍

Look, the first one scooped me up, nestled me close and gave us all the most spectacular world. Something you could almost dip your toes into, lay yourself on the moss covered ground of a forest and just melt.

The characters are exquisite and book two only gets BETTER. I’m not one for giving spoilers soooo I won’t, but I’ll just say this! If you haven’t read the first book, you absolutely need to. It was pick up and read, binge worthy, and the second was exactly the same. These are by far in my top 10 favourite spicy cozy reads, and now that I’ve read The Edge of Darkness, absolutely in my top 3 of 2026.

I’ve said it before, but it gives me a cross of Quicksilver and Velaris, with a little pairing of something completely unique. It’s pure magic, colour and entrancing wonder that keeps you turning every page.

I can’t get over how well it’s written, how the characters banter and converse, and how much you just fall into this world with them. It makes me giggle, cry and squirm all the same.

If you haven’t… go get these books. Both The Lies of Mortals and The Edge of Darkness. You NEED them. ✨🤍

Thank you Malarie for the ARC read! ✨🤍

First of all, I love the world building & I enjoy the overall story. This author has an amazing writing style with incredible talent, & the multiple POVs were great to help us see what was going on with each of our characters. We start off right where book 1 ends & get into the action which hooks you in pretty fast but then it slows down until 50-60%. We finally get Silas again which I was excited about, but his character & relationship with everyone was very awkward. Roirdan, Nivelle, Remic, the Wraith, & Eathril were the best parts of this story for me. I genuinely fell in love with book 1, but I did struggle with this one a bit so it sits at about a 3.75. The book is good, but I feel sort of neutral about it & felt like something was missing. It's still a great story if you enjoy fated mates, high stakes, battle scenes, & a bit of emotional damage. Extremely grateful to Malarie for allowing me an early read of this because I genuinely admire the amount of work & creativity she has put into this series.

Easily 5 stars- "No Negotiations"

The Edge of Darkness by @abookshelfofmagic took me on an absolute emotional roller coaster.

I loved Niall and Auren's story in The Lies of Mortals and now I'm invested in every character and where they're going on The Edge of Darkness. I'm left with so many new questions and wonderings.

I loved the multiple POVs and the banter between the characters—it added so much personality to the story and made me feel completely invested in them. I especially loved the way the story slowly unfolded. The twists and turns kept coming, and every time I thought I knew where things were headed, something had me questioning everything all over again.

I cried. I yelled. I smiled. I stressed. Basically, this book had me feeling ALL the things, and I loved every second of it.

The characters, the banter, the emotions, the twists… this was such an easy 5 stars for me. I can’t wait for everyone else to experience this one! 🖤

4.5 ⭐

This is an epic story. The thought Malarie has put in is incredible - intricately woven & detailed. And I really care about the characters!

It's no mean feat to keep readers entertained for 800+ pages and this did take a while to get going. It was very sentimental in places, dinner parties when a war is about to rage, but it does add to the found family.

Riordan & Nivelle are coded to another romantasy couple (green flag commander vs grumpy witch-like woman) but their spice was the best, and chemistry is better than A&N imo.

Poised for book three, and after that ending I can't wait!!

I cannot say enough good things about The Edge of Darkness! It picks up right where The Lies of Mortals leaves off (and includes a recap which is amazing) and you are immediately thrown into action. The world building went even deeper and the character development was outstanding. I love getting multiple POV’s and getting that peak inside other characters brains (looking at you Niall!) and seeing the story progress through their eyes. The banter is snappy, the spice spices in the right way, the fight scenes are fierce, and the ending is killer!! When can we get book 3?!?

This book was a definite step up from the first book for me, with more interesting plot lines and more development with side characters and differing POV. And yet…it’s hard to pinpoint how I feel about it overall. I struggled with the pacing and the reliance on a “telling” vs. “showing” writing style. A lot happens in the end that I wanted to feel more emotionally invested in, but just wasn’t. I like a lot of the ideas around these characters and their personalities and relationships…but also they still feel a little flat even after another long book.

This book two in the lies of mortals series. I loved book one and was so excited to dive into book two! The first half of this book was slower than i expected and but push through because the second half is amazing. I really enjoyed getting other characters perspectives-and at times wanted more of them than the main characters. I cant wait to see where the characters and world go. Get around this amazing series!

I didn’t think I could love a book as much as I loved book 1 - but this did not disappoint! It has put me through so many emotions that I sit here traumatised but also completely in love with this series.
Also - Roirdan is possibly my new favourite!

Thank you so much to Malarie for having me on your street team and sending me an arc of this book. I have loved every second of reading it.

ARC Review:

Malarie did it again. Book 2 was so so good!
This book started off with a review of what happened in book 1, which is so helpful for someone like me who forgets what happened previously with any amount of time between reads. The plot continued seamlessly from book 1 and never slowed down, which kept me interested the whole time. This book has great character and world building, banter, slow burn, romance, high emotions, mysterious aspects, and plot twists. Malarie’s writing and narration is vivid, complex, yet easy to read and understand. I cannot wait for more!!

Wow wow wow. What a fantastic sequel to the lies of mortals. The emotions just build throughout this book as you head to the final gut wrenching chapters. So happy to have received an ARC of The Edge of Darkness and I can’t wait to see where Malarie takes this next.

Was so honoured to get this as a ARC and this took me for a ride!
The development of the characters was amazing and getting to see the different personalities and mannerisms come out.
I am both scared and excited to see what you do to us in book 3!

4 ⭐️ read!

This book starts up right where book 1 ends! I loved the different POV’s in this sequel and the flushing out of the side characters. Of course still love our two main characters and their relationship. The middle felt slightly slow to me but the ending was crazy and action packed! 🤭

If you’re a fan of action packed romantasy this is for sure for you!
