This Reckless Home

Rate this book
I've saved children from things that would make your stomach turn.

I've paid people I despise. I've done things that sit wrong in the dark, at 3am, when there's no one to reassure me it was worth it. That I wasn't a monster.

And then three men walked into my house — all broad shoulders and sharp eyes and staying — and I had to reckon with the fact that being seen is so much more frightening than being useful.

Steele is the quiet kind of steady that feels like solid ground. Nox sees through every wall I build and doesn't let me pretend otherwise. Ant knows what it costs to love something the system has already decided isn't worth fighting for.

I have a mansion, more money than I know what to do with, a housekeeper who is more mother than staff, and a house chicken called Debbie who has absolutely no respect for personal space or emotional moments.

What I don't have is any idea what to do with men who look at me like I'm worth the complicated truth of me.

Because the truth is coming. And when it does, I'm going to need them to choose me anyway.

This Reckless Home is a scorching, emotionally raw adult contemporary romance about chosen family, impossible choices, and what it means to be loved by people who know exactly what you've done.

Rosa Lee lives in a sleepy Wiltshire village, surrounded by the beautiful English countryside and the sound of British Army tanks firing in the background (it’s worth the noise for the uniformed dads in the local supermarket and doing the school run!).

Rosa loves writing dark and delicious whychoose romance, and has so many ideas trying to burst out that she can often be found making a note of them as soon as one of her three womb monsters wakes her up. She believes in silver linings and fairytale endings...you know, where the villains claim the Princess for their own, tying her up and destroying the world for her.

A lot packed into this standalone!
Blossom has created her own family when situations prevented her from having her own and the parent that remained is a a total twotwaffle 😡
She takes in young Jus who comes accompanied by his adult brother and his best friends - none of whom have had it easy in life 😔 they all have a lot of jagged pieces and this book very much centres not necessarily on how they fit together but how they make it work especially when those jagged pieces create more cuts within each other! Don’t get me wrong there’s very much insta lust and some seriously hawt and heartfelt scenes 🔥🥰 as you expect with any Lee book but there’s also exploration of when things aren’t always rosy and what space means in a relationship…
This book is very much centred in the real world with mature and challenging issues people face, so maybe not one to read if you want a bit of escapism.
A strong rh standalone exploring different themes.

🖤Fast burn
🖤Why choose/reverse harem
🖤Found family
🖤Possessive MMCs
🖤They fall first

“They saved me when I didn’t even realise I was drowning.”

Wow, what a lovely heartwarming story I’ve just read and I cannot wait for this to be released into the world for everyone✨

I have read every book of Rosa Lee’s and I can honestly say I have never been disappointed, and become obsessed with the stories and fall for the characters and this book is no different! Rosa is who got my dark romance journey started which I’ll always be so grateful for, so if you’re just starting out or you’re down the rabbit hole already, you will love this book🖤

The story and characters do not have it easy and have to face and overcome challenges, but that’s what makes the journey worth it🫶🏼 I felt so many emotions for each character as they all have their own stories to tell✨
It was so humbling and honestly just an amazing story, it gives you so much insight to certain topics, and really makes you open your eyes to what’s going on in this world.
-
We have our FMC Blossom who is wealthy and has more money than she can spend in this lifetime, and decides to become a foster parent. She has a new kid joining her big foster family who comes with a very protective brother and his friends. They are fighting for guardianship, but the system is always against them for reasons you’ll find out. To make the transition easier Blossom invites the MMCs to move into her pool house. 3 hot men moving in, what could possibly go wrong? Or right👀
We have
- Anatole - the leader and the one everyone looks up too.
- Nox - the cheeky and sarcastic one but really deep on the inside and built his walls to hide it.
- Steele - the quieter one who is always watching, observing and cares so deeply.

Feelings blossom (pun intended,)😉 and it’s a fast burn and they don’t wait around for what they want, but will past decisions from Blossom make or break her relationships with her guys and can they overcome what she’s done? Part of Blossoms’ challenges in life come to a head and they want her future with the guys destroyed! Will there be a HEA for them all or will the past bring it all crashing down? Get your copy to find out✨

Once again I am absolutely blown away with yet another amazing story and characters from you! You are the gift that keeps on giving, and I know you were nervous about writing this book and can I just say you have done it justice🖤

This book was fan-fucking-tastic. It tiptoed that line of dark romance due to some scenes and these men being themselves. But that underlying message and feeling? Rosa, you knocked that out of the park. I cried, I laughed, I aww-d constantly but overall, I loved this book so much. Found Family is such a special trope for me and this one hit so hard. I genuinely cannot recommend it more, just read this one.

Well it has been done yet again, another amazing book. I was getting choked up in just the first two chapters, managed to settle myself before spending the last 60% of the book in either absolute bloody tears (that therapy bill is coming) or laughing and smiling so hard my cheeks hurt, I mean talk about emotional whiplash. These characters mean so much to each other and those around them, the bond they build, even in some of the toughest challenges they face, is such a beautiful one. They have fought many battles, and there were some I didn't think they'd make it out of, and came out so much stronger, but at the same time they acknowledged that somethings can never be "fixed" and that you just find that balance within yourself and with going forward. They were the perfect balance for each other and allowed each other to truly feel like they had a home and a safe place they could come back to, where they could let the weight of the world of their shoulders. The kids were all so adorable and it made my heart so full to see them being kids even through what life had handed them. And of course we have to shoutout the lovely Debbie for making even the toughest of men crumble.

I stepped into This Reckless Home expecting the usual mafia chaos from Rosa Lee, but what she gave us instead completely took me apart and rearranged my brain! 😭💔 Unfiltered, real-world darkness—the flaws of the foster care system, systemic racism, abuse, neglect, and well-meaning people making messy, unforgivable mistakes—hit so much harder because it felt like something that could happen in actual reality.

The story follows Anatole, Steele, and Nox—three foster-system brothers who aged out and carry heavy trauma, but are doing whatever it takes to stay together and get custody of Anatole's younger brother, Justin. When Justin gets placed with Blossom, a wealthy young woman who fosters children in need, the guys refuse to leave him. So, Blossom does the unthinkable and opens her pool house to all three men so they don't have to separate from Justin! 🥺🏠 What starts as a plan to grab Justin and run turns into an incredible, medium-spice why-choose romance where these three possessive, protective men gradually become the ones taking care of her. Blossom will do ANYTHING for her kids (even if it's questionable or illegal!), and watching them navigate her flaws, build a sanctuary together, and heal from past trauma had me crying happy and sad tears in equal measure.

The chosen family dynamic in this book completely stole the show, and the emotional core of this story is just profound. It’s raw, introspective, deeply romantic, and so beautifully written.

I usually describe Rosa's books as emotional, but this one was devastating in several places. While This Reckless Home still focused on dark themes, it was different from the rest of her books. Her previous books followed characters in or affected by the mafia or gangs in some way. That mafia storyline makes the books feel less real. This Reckless Home feels less fictional and more like the story could happen in reality. The dark themes in this book are things that affect real people every day, including racism, the flaws of the foster care system, abuse, neglect, and well-meaning people making unforgivable mistakes.

Anatole, Steele, and Nox grew up in the foster system and have since aged out. They each carry their own trauma from their pasts both together and separately. These three friends are more like brothers doing their best to build a good life together as a family. Anatole, with the help of his brothers, has been struggling to gain guardianship over his younger brother, Justin, who is still in the foster system for eight years. Anatole's own foster care file is being used against him. All three men are accompanying Justin to his new foster home to meet his new foster mother.

They never would have expected Blossom or her house. Blossom is a young rich woman who is passionate about helping young children in need. She has several other foster children, and her home, while huge, looks safe and welcoming. Everything about her seems too good to be true, so the guys are, of course, still reluctant to separate from Justin. That's when Blossom suggests that all three men can stay in the pool house in order to keep an eye on Justin.

The men soon realize that Blossom genuinely wants to help these children. She does everything she can to set them up for success. Originally, their goal was to get on their feet, get custody of Justin, and leave. However, their goal starts to shift as they all form a romantic relationship with Blossom. As they get closer, they realize that Blossom is not perfect. Even though she always has good intentions, she has made some mistakes that even the guys struggle to accept. Especially Steele and Nox. They all have to decide what they can handle.

Rosa didn't take time to jump into the heavy themes of this story. We have three male leads who have not been treated kindly by life. Their outlook is immediately obvious when the story opens up. Our FMC is grounded and working to make a difference. She has privilege, but didn't allow it to make her arrogant. She uses her wealth to create a safe space for foster children. She may not always make the right decision, but she makes her choices from a place of love and protection.

Throughout the story we are given high-intensity moments and heavy themes. The men don't try to fix Blossom, but allow her the opportunity to heal at her own pace. Anatole, Nox, and Steele each have a traumatic past they have to overcome in order to allow them to be completely open to the love Blossom could give them.

The story isn't without external interference, but it is handled well amongst the characters. The men finally learn they can trust someone outside of their group and won't be forgotten or left behind. Blossom is able to step into who she is and reclaim her independence.

There are plenty of high heat moments, but it doesn't override the plot or the emotional vulnerability. Each intimate scene serves as a milestone for the characters in their journey towards safety, trust, and connection. The men and Blossom slowly build a cohesive unit amongst themselves. This is a story for anyone who enjoys the found family element and watching honest reactions and growth from their characters.

This book 🖤 This author 🖤🖤

*I'll try not to post spoilers but don't judge if I slip up*

My personal rating are:

STORY ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

SPICE 🌶🌶🌶

Not gonna lie, I had super high hopes for this book just because of who the author is. That may not be fair, because, of course every book is it's own story and just because you like some doesn't mean you'll like the others. But just as I expected, I was blown away by how much I loved it. I can honestly say I devoured it. Had to take my son to urgent care for a reaction and while sitting there for the medicine to kick in, he was napping I was reading. Even with the slight delay of the doctors visit, I still read the whole thing in 5 hours.

This one hits some big feels that I don't believe have been touched yet on this level by this author and Rosa Lee handled it amazingly. My sweet baby Steele was breaking my heart for a minute there, but I completely understand his side as well. I may not understand it on a personal level but I do understand his feelings. I also understand Blossoms stance because honestly I'd do anything, absolutely anything for my kids.

This book doesn't have the dark themes or a ton of angst like her other works and it will be going in my pallet cleanser list for when I need a break from my darker reads.

I first found Rosa Lee with Addicted to Pain about 2ish years ago and have read and then bought all her books since. She is one of two authors I will actually pre-order books for because I just know she will amaze me with whatever she writes.

Can't wait for the audio to come out to listen to it as well.

I entered This Reckless Home with the expectation of the typical darkness associated with Rosa Lee’s writing, but instead, she presented me with a completely different and captivating experience and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

This book demonstrates that a story doesn’t necessarily require mafia wars, kidnappings, or incessant violence to evoke a sense of darkness. The darkness in this narrative is more profound and relatable: it delves into trauma, abandonment, broken systems, children who have been neglected by adults, and the difficult choices people make when they genuinely believe they’re protecting someone.

And then there’s Blossom.

As she dedicates so much of herself to caring for others, witnessing Steele, Nox, and Ant gradually transforming into the individuals who take care of her hit me deeply.

While I cherished the relationships between all four characters, I believe the chosen family aspect truly stole the show for me. This house gradually transcends its role as a mere residence it becomes a sanctuary, a place where they find a sense of belonging.

Despite the presence of steamy romance, possessive men, chemistry, and the classic “why-choose goodness” trope, this story possesses a profound emotional core that resonates deeply with readers.

Compared to Rosa Lee’s other works, this book stands apart in its unique storytelling style.

Did I still devour it? Absolutely.

And Debbie, the house chicken, deserves her own five stars. 😂❤️

Oh my goodness.....This one took me apart and rearranged how my brain works a little bit.

This Reckless Home centers on Blossom, a twenty-something with more money than she knows what to do with and a desire to better the world. She decides to foster children who need a family, a chance at a better life, and sometimes an escape. She makes sure every need is provided for.

On the day her newest foster child, a teenager, enters her life everything changes. His brother and the brother's friends come with him to see where he will be staying, as their goal has always been to raise him themselves. Instead of making them abandon him, she opens her home to them as well. And thus begins our story.

There are so many places this story broke my heart. From dealing with what it is like to be in the foster system and having that held against you as an adult, to how the world sees and treats minorities, especially when there is a financial disparity. The struggles these characters face are not minor, some are make-it-or-break-it level. It was amazing to read a story that dealt with complex issues while not minimizing their impact, not even guaranteeing HEA within the impact.

This is a Why Choose with medium spice, a plot well worth the read, and an ending that is satisfying and not overly pat.

This story is a little different from the usual storyline by Ms Lee, whereby the physical trauma is from the past as Blossom opens up her inheritance to children in need of a foster home. Anatole joins his friends Steele and Lennox (Nox) as his little brother Justin gets moved to Blossom's estate. All three gentlemen have aged out of the foster system, and they lack the resources to keep Justin with them permanently despite the familial ties.

This is a story of acceptance and sensitivity, perspective gained, and learning that sometimes the best choice is a one split between two awful options. Do you love a person less because they were in that situation? Do you trust someone who has the means to bury the truth with money? Can you share your heart with three very different men? The reverse harem trope is one that Ms Lee does well, and this story is no exception.

Whereas the previous titles had ongoing physical triggers, this book was more introspective. I enjoyed how sensitive Ms Lee is with the characters, and the emotional twists still had me in tears periodically.

Please be mindful and review the trigger list when considering this title to add to your TBR. There is a happy ending, but it is hard-won and you might not have Debbie the chicken to help you.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

It’s a solid 2.5 stars. First, Blossom drove me insane. I almost DNF multiple times because of her. She was SO insecure and dear god, how many times did she cry in this book?! She had hardly any character growth. She did one “brave” thing that her wealth afforded her. Ugh.

The guys were pretty good. This isn’t an insta love this is blast off and do not pass go kinda insta love. She fucked one of them at 19% so yeah, not much emotional investment at that point lol oh and in love by like 31%

There also was hardly any plot. So hold on a sec, we’re just going to blow by the fact that she admitted to illegally buying children. But our hard line is that it’s wrong when they’re affiliated to the nazis? Excuse me?! The other kids were fine to buy but that’s the ethical line….???? Make it make sense.

Boo hoo rich girl problems. Aw poor you daddy doesn’t love you? Snoooze. This is 100000% not a “dark romance” like her other books. Definitely not one of my favorites of hers and Rosa’s books are on my frequent re-read lists so pretty disappointing

Honestly the foster kids made the book but I swear the kids names changed. Like where did Mitchel come from?! Jus added some good humor and I always love an emotional support chicken lol

Buckle up ladies and gents, this trip is incredible.

Blossom: such an incredibly strong woman who hasn't had love that she so very much deserves. Aside from Tina and Henry, she is so love starved it breaks your heart.

Ant, Steele and Nox: the chosen family, who have experienced hell before finding one another. Learning each of their back stories breaks your heart but seeing how they shape and mold these men is touching.

Debbie: Bless the house chicken and all her shenanigans..

The Rollercoaster of emotions I went through in the 24hrs it took to read this was wild. From feeling the pain, the anger, the sadness, and love… this book will be one that forever lives in my head. This book will hook your attention and leave you wanting to keep reading, I know it did for me.

Make certain you listen to the Playlist on Spotify, as Rosas picks were perfect for the book and the scenes playing out.

Triggers seen: Racism, mentions of physical and mental abuse(off page), child abuse, brief mention self harm. As always with any book make certain you're in the right mindset to handle darker things.

This book was so different from what Rosa Lee has normally written. I absolutely loved every second of it. It was a rollercoaster of emotions. Blossom fills her home with children that are in the system. All of them with a traumatic history. She ends up fostering a boy named Justin who has an older biological brother Ant but also Steele and Nox. But the system won't allow Ant to keep him due to unstable income and even appropriate housing that isn't suitable even if it is a roof over all of their heads. So, Blossom allows the three of them to stay with her while Justin is in her care. Even if they have choice words. But as time moves on... they start falling for her.. and falling hard. This girl will do absolutely ANYTHING for her kids. ANYTHING. Even if its quite illegal. Obviously, there is going to be some major bumps in the road. Choosing to stay can be worth it in the end.

While I have read a many different type of reverse harem, this story was quite a bit different and so emotional in a different way, I couldn't put it down!

You always read about the group getting together in certain circumstances where the guys are rich and they take care of the FMC but not this one! Our FMC, Blossom, is taking care of not only her guys, but fosters many children in her home! Blossom comes from money and wants to use it to get the best life to little ones who have had a very hard life and that just makes my heart feel all sorts of good!

Now as we know how Rosa writes, its not all sunshine and kittens! Blossom deals with the stress of raising many kids, a terrible father who has plans of his own, and three big MMCs that has troubles of their own. Two of the main men are poc and I like that Rosa took the time to contact sources to make sure she gave them justice.

I feel for a lot of these characters, so make sure you check your triggers kids! Oh, and don't forget about our sweet house chicken 🐔

📚✨ BOOK REVIEW: Reckless Home by Rosa Lee ✨📚

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Reckless Home completely pulled me in from the first chapter and refused to let go. Rosa Lee delivers all the emotion, tension, and chemistry you'd expect, while also giving readers characters that feel incredibly real and flawed.

The story balances heartbreak, healing, and romance so well that I found myself emotionally attached to every outcome. The character growth was one of my favourite parts, watching them navigate their pasts while trying to build something better had me rooting for them the entire time.

💔 Emotional damage? Yes.
🥹 Found family vibes? Absolutely.
🔥 Chemistry? Off the charts.
📖 Unputdownable? 100%.

Rosa Lee has a way of making you feel every emotion right alongside her characters, and Reckless Home is no exception. If you love romance with depth, angst, and plenty of swoon-worthy moments, add this one to your TBR immediately.

LIFE CHOICES

'At this rate I'm going to have to get my oxygen levels checked. These boys seem to keep stealing it.' - Blossom.

When a book has you questioning how a choice can have far reaching consequences, you know you are reading a fantastic story. Rosa Lee has managed to write a dark, why-choose romance that has depth, meaning and a storyline that hits all the right notes. As Blossom's story evolves, you will ask yourself, what would you do to protect those you love, and what impact do those choices have on others and would you still make that choice. The writing was engaging and the character were emotional and perfect in all their scarred beauty. The spice was balanced with the story and driven by it, the interactions between the characters fragile and vulnerable. Ultimately this book was a fantastic choice to read and I thoroughly enjoyed all aspects.

I went into this book expecting a dark why choose but was soo pleasantly surprised. Rosa Lee has such a way of making a dark romance book also deeply emotional and tearjerking at times. The journey the 3 MMCs took to get to their Blossom, the hiccups along the way with her father, the children that Blossom rescued, all of it struck a chord deep in my heart. Not to mention i found this books contained candid portrayals of racism. The inequalities Nox and Steele had to face whilst also struggling in the foster care system was written very clearly, not glossed over. It waa refreshingly blunt and honest. It made it very relatable and made the readers who can relate(me) feel very seen. And I can never resist a unconventional pet, shout out Debbie the chicken.

Thank you so much for the arc, I thoroughly enjoyed it!!

I've read quite a few of Rosa Lee's books and I have to say that this one is definitely my favorite. Blossom is a woman who has done questionable things to protect those that she cares about. Steele, Nox, and Ant are the men that come into her life that have to decide if they have the ability to love her in spite of what is hurtful to them. The best thing about this book is the feelings that the story brings, from joy and love all the way to hurt and sorrow. All of the characters in this book have a lot of past trauma. They have rough edges that manage to fit with the rough edges that the others also have. The characters have depth and the growth is amazing to watch. Crying is something that seldom happens to me and I definitely teared up reading this. It will take you on a journey and leave you thinking about it long after you finish.

Beautiful Story filled with so much love, trauma and healing!

I haven’t read a book like this one before it was gentle reminder on what some of us go through on a daily basis and brings much needed awareness to these topics.

Blossom is our FMC who is a foster mum and RICH and does so much for her kids. Then we have our men Ant, Steele and Nox who are less fortunate and have plenty of trauma and baggage and finally find a place they can call home and more importantly feel safe. We also can’t forgot Debbie the house chicken 🐓

Thank you to Rosa Lee for a beautiful story with so much meaning. I encourage everyone to give this a read. It also wouldn’t be a romance without spice and this was OMG HOT 🥵

This book was amazing, emotional, this is different from her other books but no less. The emotion in this book my heart aching.
I'm such a big fan of Rosa's books. This book has so many layers, from Blossom who doesnt know her worth, to the boys who have all gone through so much in their lives. This book is about finding home, the people and place that heals your heart when you've never known how it feels.
I don't want to give any spoilers but you really need to read. You will understand once you do. Amazing, so amazing Rosa. Well done on another amazing book

I have always loved a Rosa Lee book. She will always have a special place in my reading journey. That said, this book was completely different from her other books. It is spicy, as always, but it was more about found family. It's about growing as individuals, a family, and learning to get close even when it's hard. But I love that Blossom took something that could be seen as a loss and used that hurt and passion to help people, like her foster children, to make sure they are prepared for life. I could say more, but I don't want to spoil it! Love the men! Muah, chef's kisses 💋! Please, please, please read it; you won't regret it! 5/5 ⭐️

I’m a big fan of Rosa’s brand of smutty insta-love and always know I’ll be in for a good time with one of her books and this book was no different.

This Reckless Home is a why choose, found family, grumpy X sunshine, they fall first romance. It’s a little bit tamer than Rosa’s other books, slightly less drama and edge of your seat stuff but still some real heartbreakingly deep stuff and definitely lots of romance and spice still.

I loved Blossom and her crazy family and I’m a big fan of Debbie the chicken! Blossom was a very lucky lady, Anatole, Steele and Nox were all amazing MMCs, chefs kiss!

Absolutley love anything by Rosa Lee! This one is not an exception.
This is not the "typical" standard of dark romance but is dark in its own way.
So many hardships and life choices that cannot be undone. This book was real and delt with darker life issues.
This book was the example of true love wins and found family is something fierce!
Crazy huge mix of found family between the main characters and foster children. Oh and we cannot forget the chicken and beloved house staff.
100% recommend this book but read your triggers if you have them.
If you have none dive deep and enjoy this ride of spice, sweet, and crazy!

I really love Rosa Lee's books, but this one… the story just wasn’t great. The relationship came out of nowhere; they fell in love in two minutes and it felt incredibly rushed. The only thing I liked was the representation of fostering, and the normalisation and acceptance of not being able to have biological children. I know most of her books are short and tell a story with a purpose, but this time it didn't feel like a proper book. I wanted to see a bond being created between the adults and the kids. We didn’t even have the opportunity to really learn about the characters because it moved so fast. It didn't make me want to sit down and devour it—I actually struggled to finish it.

Unconventional traditions

This story has so many layers. Yes Blossom has a heart of gold. Ant, Steele, and Nox come with baggage so heavy even their large shoulders can't seem to keep it contained. But through it all it's about finding your people. It's about finding home, the person or place that feeds your soul properly when you don't really know what that looks like. Taking the most chaotic energy and building the most beautiful unconventional traditions for those you deem worth it. Plus,...plus there's Debbie lol when you read it you'll know!

This book wrecked me. From zhe begginig to the end I was hooked up. I could´n take my eyes away living multiple stories at once. One story of a woman whos only goal was to prove she is worthy of others love. Another story of a man who thought his only goal in life is to fight for his little brother. All has change in a minute. Rosa Lee showed me how to see the invisible, how to send a message even thouh youre not sure if anyone is listening. This year a book which broke m apart only to put me back together.

A beautiful departure from her norm

I have read all of Rosa Lee's books and thoroughly enjoyed them. Each has been dark and compelling. This Reckless Home is quite a departure from her norm. This book definitely has darkness but it's based more in realism. That said, please read the trigger warnings as some brutal themes are touched on. What I've said so far makes the book traumatic and these characters have suffered but the story is really about love, home and hope. I felt uplifted at both the beginning and end of the story. The middle, that's for you to explore.

Such a great read. I love anything by Rosa Lee but this really was such a deep and profound piece. I felt every single word of it. I really just loved how loved and safe blossom made all the kids feel it was emotional and heartfelt. Loved each of the men. So much to love about this one for sure; I liked all the family/children, spice, deep rooted connections, deep conversations, past experiences, and so much more. Was on the edge of my seat the entire read. The ending was so warm and loving and it just ended to perfectly
