God made Dotty a spotted zebra who longs to be like all the other stripped zebra’s. She always wonders why she is so very different from her family so she asks God to make her look like the rest of her herd. One day Dotty and her friend Obi encounters danger and after that moment she realizes that God made her very special for a for a reason and He loves her very much. From then on, Dotty was very thankful that God made her different and special and no longer wanted to be like everyone else. I really appreciate how Jeni explains to children through this story that God made everyone different and loves them very much, and that being different can be a blessing and how those differences can be very important and helpful to others. Another thing that she did very well was getting the point across really nicely and making sure it will definitely keep the children’s attention and all the beautiful, colorful pictures are an added blessing that the children will absolutely love. I highly recommend this book especially for children who are struggling with being different and not understanding why God made them different and special. Thank you, Jeni, for giving me the opportunity to be on the launch team and being able to review your story.
What a privilege to be selected as one of the pre-release readers of Dotty Makes a Difference! As a volunteer who works with pre-schoolers, I can’t wait to read this book to them. The story is a sweet display of bravery and love. The author clearly articulated through Dotty’s experience that it’s okay to be different. The message is so profound, yet expressed so simply for little ones to understand. Sometimes, the thing we want to change about ourselves is the very thing that allows us to help others.
The illustrations in this book are so pretty. I love the colors and detail. All around, this book is definitely a 5!
Loved it. Those reading this well-illustrated book will find an emphasis on how God made each of us special, unique, and one-of-a-kind. Great gift idea. I received a complimentary copy from the author. Opinions are my own.
