When Cozy Mystery author, Patti Benning, isn’t busy plotting the deaths of multiple fictitious characters, she loves to spend time hiking with her rescue dog, Max, who is her bestest writing buddy.
Patti loves to cook and the food in her books has been tried and tested in her very own kitchen. She’s technologically shy, and stays away from social media a great deal, because it makes her feel more awkward and introverted than meeting someone face to face.
Writing is the perfect job for her because in her books, she gets to explore all the topics she loves, food, animals, crafts and reading. She loves her readers dearly, and is thankful for the opportunity to share with them through her work.
Aunt Agnes has finally returned with a new husband in tow. Bridget wants to do the right thing and return her keys in person, but her aunt seems less than pleased to see her and even more annoyed to find that Bridget is living across the street until she can find other accommodations. At least her new job is going well since she has decided to remain in town. But what she can't wrap her head around is that her aunt seems more annoyed than thrilled to have her around. As strange things continue to happen that all seem to revolve around her aunt and new husband, Bridget is determined to get to the bottom of it all.
Aunt Agnes might be back home, but she’s still pretty mysterious and even had a live souvenir she brought back with her. I’m super curious now since I remember something she’d said from a previous book. I wanna see if that’s eventually what happens here too.
When a novelty store customer whose sister was murdered recently was now murdered herself, Bridget had her suspicions but she didn’t actually figure it out until Lachlan’s restaurant groundbreaking party. She ended up confronting a killer and an unlikely hero stepped in and saved her life. I can’t wait to see what happens next.
Bridget aunt finally returns home but she is not alone. She has a sketchy husband with her but they seem on rocky terms as she will be caught n the crossfire. Bridget finds herself n another murder investigation when she stumbles on a dead body. What secrets have her aunt be hiding and does her aunt’s husband have something to do with it? Will she be able to figure things out before she becomes the target? A quick paced cozy read.
In this recent story in Patti Benning’s Nightsmith Novelties series, Bridget’s aunt has returned with her latest husband. While doing an errand for them, she finds a body and now she’s trying to find out who did it. Could her aunt be involved? Can she figure out who did it? A perfect quick cozy mystery.
This was a short story. There was just enough to let us know some things about the relationship. But the story is not very detailed. So you still have a very little of what is happening in the lives of the people in this story.
I’ve been enjoying this series and usually give each book a 4 star rating. However, while the story was good, this book was so filled with typos, using wrong names, and missing or wrong words, it was annoying. Someone might need to start proofreading these books.
