Wow! I absolutely loved this next installment! I couldn't wait for the audiobook release, so I painfully relied on Kindle text-to-speech because I loved the first book so much. Thankfully, Jennifer Julie Miller delivered yet again.
The moment a familiar character unexpectedly appeared, I had a full Buddy the Elf moment and practically yelled, "I KNOW HIM! I KNOW HIM!" Readers who have followed previous books will absolutely appreciate the surprise appearances and Easter eggs sprinkled throughout the story.
Then, came another surprise! Victoria and Tiberius own land in South Carolina! As someone born and raised in South Carolina, I was ridiculously excited. Nothing ever seems to happen here in books, so seeing my home state represented was an unexpected treat.
One of the things I love most about JJM's writing is her heroes. Reggie is the perfect example of the respectful, honorable, chivalrous men she writes so well. Chivalry is alive and thriving in this story.
Jessie is the former maid of Grant (hero from first book). She decides to leave her old life behind to join Reggie and his workers on their journey west. When trouble arises while boarding the train, Reggie claims Jessie is his wife to help her. What follows is a heartfelt story about two people from very different worlds learning to understand, respect, and ultimately love one another. I finished this book with the same feeling I always get from Jennifer Julie Miller's stories: happy.
While this can be read as a standalone, I highly recommend reading the first book beforehand. The connections, surprises, and Easter eggs hit so much harder when you already know the characters.
Highly recommended for readers who love respectful heroes, found family, humor, heart, and stories that leave you feeling good long after you've turned the last page. Looking forward to audiobook coming out for this series!

If you haven't dove into Reggie and Jessie's story, you're missing out!
From the moment he lays eyes on her, he can't think about anything else. She's his cousin's maid and Reggie's charged with taking care of the servants before he himself heads to Utah to his new homestead. He offers employment and a full ride and housing for anyone who wants to come with him and help run his new place.
Jessie has tried to find another job but no one's hiring. When her childhood friend suggests that she come to Utah as well, she figures it's a chance at a new life and adventure. When there's a mix up with her ticket, Reggie thinks fast, She's his new wife and her luggage was lost, they'll have to stay in the same room with only a curtain separating them. It's either that or be left behind.
How many great love stories have I read that started with a fake marriage? Plenty and I'm glad to say that this one, though a sweet heat slow burn, is right at the top of the list!
Unexpected feelings, thoughts, adventure, some danger, an obsessive Clydesdale, humor and meeting old characters who play a great supporting cameo, made this book a pleasure to dig into.

A Different Kind of Western
A little different from the first book in this series but still imminently readable. I loved the life philosophy woven into the story. It was not preachy at all but was more a gentle reminder that regardless of our station or situation in life it doesn’t matter how others perceive us but what we think of ourselves ultimately. Ms. Miller also has a way of giving very sensible love advice as well even if it came from a “mysterious” couple from a previous series, lol! All of those things were woven throughout the structure of a very nice story. Hopefully, this will not be the end of this series.

This was slow burn that kept my attention because of the relationship between Reggie and Jessica...not because of the situation that was created but because of how Reggie saw Jessica and how he said the station you are born does make you who you are...but who truly are inside.
I do love how Tyberius and Victoria is an egg in the story and how is ties in the series of DaR and that story...now that makes me want to go back and read the story of Victoria and Tyberius.
I am looking forward to Travis' story and more about how they establish their new world out west.

Loved it!
Jennifer's Dar series of books are some of my absolute favourites but I am also thoroughly enjoying the Silver Lining books too. What a wonderful surprise to find Victoria and Tiberius with a supporting role, that pleased me greatly. Looking forward to reading the next book 💕

Great love story ❤️
I really enjoyed reading the second book 📖 in this series. I'm a romantic at heart ❤️. This is the second time reading material from the author. Even though I am an urban girl, I live precariously through romance stories of the man riding up on his steed and taking me away.

Oh Yeah!
I really liked this book. I liked that Reggie has his life flipped on it's ear because of a female he never saw coming. True love, what a wonderful thing. Jennifer Julie Miller is AWESOME. I LOVE her books.

Loved it!!
This is different. While I love the world of DaR this is just full of adventure ,love and unforgetable characters. Seeing Tyberius and Victoria was such a welcome surprise. Loving this series. From one Appalachian to another - you done real good girl!!😊

Better and Better
I loved the first book in this series, so I decided to read this one as well.
As I started to read, I thought it was so so, but as I continued, wow! I really enjoyed this book and was happy to have Victoria and Tyberius in it. That was a wonderful addition.

This was an Enjoyable Read
This was a character driven story that included a fake marriage. The story was sweet with a bare minimum of spice. If there is a next in series I will read that, too.

More please, I loved all of it. The illustrations are fantastic and Tiberius and Victoria. All I can say is WOW. If you have not read a Jennifer Julie Miller book you're truly missing out. READ THE BOOK, you won't be disappointed❤❤

Exceptional.
I love the characters and the storyline is equally good. You can really feel the tension and emotion as the story unfolds.
