A lovely, sweeping, wholly romantic novella that is the start of a series for Ms. Salisbury.

As a fan of music and well written books, this one had me from page one. I have not read the "Tudor Series" that is the precursor for it but it did not hinder my enjoyment of it at all.

I highly recommend it for any reader seeking well-crafted characters, an interesting plot in a unique setting and some heavy-sigh romance.

Encore! - Excerpt

#1 It was there one night when I was up on stage in my latex cat suit…my gimmick, my platform a mask, a Venetian masque. Always in one of three colors, purple, hot pink or green. I was an entirely different person as I sang my gut out and played my violin. Yeah you heard me right - violin. That night he stood at the edge of the stage, looking up at me, with a mischievous grin on his face. Mr. Violin Virtuoso himself, Daniel Kennedy. I had noticed him at the club a time or two before.

We had studied together in New York years ago. Only now, I could tell he was second guessing who I really was. Who is this woman who can make a violin weep, though not nearly as well as I can. She can, none the less, make the angels shed tears.

About half way through my set, I happened to glance down at this dangerously striking man and noticed he was still smiling. He raised his drink. Was it in a mock salute, or was it more? I was too into what I was doing to tell, much less care.

I never, ever mingled with the crowd after a show. Not that I wouldn't love to every now and then. No, I was afraid some young drunk jerk would pull off my mask, exposing my identity to the world. Then Archangel would be no more.

My requirements for playing in the clubs was a cab ride home and for the owner to escort me to the waiting cab, just in case. Other than that, I played for free. Self promotion at its best.

I was putting my violin away when I heard someone behind me. I immediately turned to see who it was. And Daniel Kennedy stood not three feet from me. In my personal space, again.

"Where did you learn to play?" he asked.

"Around," I replied smugly.

"Hmmm, mysterious. I like that. Could I interest you in a drink Ms. Archangel?"

"Thank you, but no. I make it a rule to never go out for drinks with clubbers."

"Ah, is that what I am?"

"Aren't you?"

The club owner appeared out of the hallway. "Cab's here. You ready, babe?"

I noted Daniel's grimace at the familiarity Jake had used with me. "Yeah, almost," I replied.

"Well, Mr. Kennedy, I look forward to seeing you brighten up my audience again soon." I smiled and turned toward the hall.

"Who are you?"

"Archangel, kind sir." Oh, he was fun.

"No, really, who are you? I feel we've met before."

"Oh, I bet you say that to all the girl's you try to pick up." I teased, but he wasn't deterred.

"What sort of name is Archangel, sweet?"

"What sort of name is Kennedy?" I shot back. "I thought you were French. Kennedy is anything but French."

"My mother's maiden name, if you must know. My father's name is much too hard for English speaking fans."

"Scottish or Irish Kennedy's?" I taunted walking down the hall and towards the back door, my cab, and freedom from this inquisitive and delicious man.

"Scottish, why?"

"Just curious, that's all."

As I reached the door Jake was holding open, I turned and looked down the hall. Daniel had stopped, his arms folded over his chest, his legs wide apart. He was quite a handsome thing with all his bling, tight jeans, T-shirt, and jacket. His face was rough with scruff. And that hair! My God what woman wouldn't die for a head of luscious hair like that?

Rather than continue drooling, I blew a crimson-stained kiss in his direction. "This is for you, Mr. Daniel Kennedy."

He played along, pretending to catch my kiss in his hand. He closed his hand and placed it over his heart. His smile made my body tingle in places-well in places that it hadn't tingled in quite a long time.

Raising my arm as high as it would go, I waved then pivoted on the ball of my foot. "Until next time, Mr. Daniel Kennedy. Good night."

I was given a copy of this book to write an honest review for Cocktails and Books.

Mary Stewart lives a quiet life in London where she can pursue the things she loves most photography and music. Daniel Kennedy is a world famous violin virtuoso and he and Mary knew each other years ago when they both attended Julliard. They meet again when Daniel asks Mary to take some pictures of him for his upcoming CD and while they work together, they discover there’s a lot of chemistry between them.

Jamie Salisbury writes a captivating, well written story that drew me in from the first page with strong, well developed and interesting characters. Daniel is larger than life, he has it all fame, fortune, looks and a gift that few people ever have. Mary is a strong individual and I admire the way she handles her famous family, especially her mother, but as her relationship develops with Daniel, she seems to lose herself as she becomes immersed in Daniel’s world. Daniel and Mary have a lot of things to deal with including his all consuming career and the fame that goes with it and also there are Mary’s secrets she’s afraid to share.

This is a novella and it’s the first book in the Encore series. It gives the reader a taste of what to expect as this series continues and we learn more about Daniel and Mary’s story. The rest of the Tudor family is also included in the story, so you can also catch up with Mary’s three famous brothers who were featured in the Tudor Dynasty series. Can’t wait for the next installment to find out what will happen next.

Mary has a secret, an alter-ego, Archangel. Archangel appears here and there in the London clubs and its at one of these events she crosses paths with Daniel, fellow Julliard student, viloin virtuoso. There follows a love affair tainted only by Mary's brothers finding her after a ten year absence, and Daniel discovering that Mary is Archangel.

I'm not sure how I feel about this book! I didn't hate it, not by a long shoot, I'm just not sure it worked for me, personally.

Two things stood out:

1: Its written ENTIRELY from Mary's POV, in the first person. I would much rather have dual POV in the first person, over the single option. I dont't much care for first person POV at the best of times, and HERE?? I needed to hear from Daniel, I needed to know what was going on in his mind at keys points along the way, when he first re-connects with Mary, when he goes to punch her twin brother, and when he found Mary's secret.

2: There is far too much dialogue, for my liking.

I have Archangel to read next, which is a continuation of Mary and Daniel's story. I actually started reading that BEFORE this one, and I was missing something. I was kindly given this copy to read before Archangel. MOST, but not all, of what I was missing has been filled in, I still have some questions through and hope they will be filled in in that book.

I do look forward to reading Archangel, if only to see Mary and Daniel get their happy ever after.

A Book with Heart
This is the story of Daniel Kennedy and Mary Stuart . Daniel is an extremely talented and famous musician, who's whole life is his music with no time for anything else, much less a relationship. Mary is a photographer in her own right. One day they meet in London, Daniel decides to have Mary do photographs for his CD and then Daniel realizes that he remembers her from their time as classmates at Julliard where she was also studying music. How is it that she turned away from her music to become a photographer? Mary is keeping secrets. As their relationship develops, Mary realizes that she is going to have to come clean, and she is afraid of what Daniel's reaction will be? Will he turn away? Will this love story have a happily ever after, or will if crash and burn? This book was enjoyable to read, I liked the music theme, the characters were relatable and well developed. This is my first time reading this author, but I am definitely going to check out her other books.
I was given this book free for an honest review.

A wonderful read about a lifestyle not written about by many (classical music) unless historical.
The characters are dynamic and are made for each other. Both are strong, know what they want out of life personas.
This is the first in a series and can't wait to read the next installment. I'm curious as to where life's going to take Daniel and Mary.
A well written, page turner with a love story that will melt the hardest of hearts.

The romance between these two characters is what we all wish for! Daniel and Mary have a relationship based on love, mutual respect, and great passion. This is a love story mixed with music, not too complicated, but not without a little adversity. Just enough to make you hold your breath and hope they come through it. I fell in love with these characters, and I think anyone else who reads Encore! will, too!

Reading Encore was like watching an exquisite dance. The book has a musical theme that is done beautifully. Mary Stuart and Daniel Kennedy knew each other years before when they attended the same performing arts school. Daniel is now a world renowned violinist extremely absorbed in his music. While Mary has given up music for a career as a photographer. Neither knows how to have a serious relationship but wants to learn. They seem to be perfectly for each other but Mary has secrets that could destroy their relationship.

I felt Jamie Salisbury did a wonderful job at developing the characters. She did such a great job with Daniel that I could hear him playing his violin in my head. It wasn't just with Daniel. I loved Mary's internal struggle with her secrets. I don't want to give anything away, so I won't go into what her secrets are about. I also loved Mary's fierce personality. Standing up for herself when she hears the office woman gossiping about her was great!

Daniel and Mary's sensual relationship is worth the read all by itself. When Daniel takes his rings off so he doesn't mar her skin I sighed out loud. My only problem was it was over before I was ready to let them go. I can't wait for the next book in this series!!!

Mary left home years ago because she needed a break. A break from her family who all are famous musicians. Not that she begrudged them their fame, not at all she was quite happy for them, but when it came to her expressing an interest in music no one seemed to think she had what it took. So she left home and hasn’t looked back since. In her years away she did attend Julliard and also plays publicly but in disguise. She has to in order to retain her anonymity. Since preforming doesn’t really pay the bills Mary is also a photographer and quite good. When she sees Daniel at one of her impromptu appearances she knows she is in a world of trouble. Daniel is blown away by the mysterious violinist and wants to get to know her. While on the hunt for a new photographer he runs into Mary and is determined to keep her in his life this time around. When Daniel steps into her studio Mary tries to keep a distance but is soon won over by this devilishly handsome man. The more they work together the more they fall for each other. Daniel knows Mary is hiding something but wants her to tell him in her own time. Can their relationship survive all the secrets once they are out? Or will it simply prove to be too much?

I was given an ARC book set for an honest review free of persuasion from the author or anyone else affiliated with this book.

CONTAINS SOME SPOILERS ; WARNING: CONTAINS MATURE AND ADULT CONTENT

This book was a wonderful read. It was easy and flowed smoothly along the story-line. The music side of the story was a nice change of pace. I really enjoyed this romance story!

Mary Stuart has grown up in a household of music. She has always been in her 3 brothers shadow. Tired of fighting to be noticed, Mary leaves her family behind and disappears. Years later find her in London as a photographer. When Daniel Kennedy comes into her shop, she drops everything to focus on what he wants and needs. Daniel and Mary fall in love along the way. Daniel is 100% honest about everything with Mary. But Mary has secrets. Daniel suspects Mary's secrets, but hopes that she will admit them to him. When she doesn't, Daniel feels he cant trust her completely. What does Mary do? Does Mary cling to her secrets thus sacrificing their relationship?

This is the first book by Jamie Salisbury that I have read. I thoroughly enjoyed it and can not wait to read more by her. Her story was a very refreshing pleasant read.

4 "We All Wish Our Relationships Were This Smooth" Stars!!

I enjoyed this Journey with Mary and Daniel.

When I started this book, it felt ... low-key. And I don't mean that in a bad way. It wasn't overly intense, it didn't feel too angsty. Sometimes, you want that sweet love story. You want to be lulled in to peacefulness. This was exactly that!! A Sweet Love Story. Sometimes the stories we read are soooo intense and full of angst and you don't know where the relationship is headed, or what disaster's await the characters. I liked that my heart could be at ease. The author pulled me in with her soothing, heart-felt words.

The author wrote two level-headed, sweet characters. I thoroughly enjoyed every detail I was given. I like picturing the characters, at whatever they are doing. And the steam, descriptive and hot!!! Love a dirty talker :)

I look forward to reading more in this series. Archangel next!! And reading about the brothers too! (Which are already published in the Tudor Dynasty Saga).

For me, this one was just good. I liked Daniel. He was sweet and totally smitten with Mary. Very attentive, caring and affectionate. I felt the intimate scenes were rushed and sometimes the passion didn't feel natural, but forced. Nothing stirred for me, below the belt.

The drama with her family was typical and I couldn't feel sympathy for Mary or understand her reason for disappearing from her family's life for a decade. I didn't see anything that really warranted such a drastic step.

She was good for Daniel, though. The affection and love they shared was evident and that is what kept me going with the story.

The Tudor Dynasty series was one of my favorites from Jamie, and this spinoff series, beginning with Encore was an awesome story!!! I adore the relationship between Daniel and Mary, and can't wait to see what else they encounter down the road. This book was very well written and I enjoyed it from beginning to end!! Even though Encore can be read as a stand-alone, I highly recommend that the reader also reads the Tudor Dynasty series…they’ll love it!!! The musical themes throughout this story really added to the uniqueness of the story. Great job Miss Jamie…you never disappoint.

I received a free copy of this book and had not read this author before was I greatly surprised. This book kept me interested all through the book. Mary has been separated from her family for 10 years where she had made it on her own. When she meets up with Daniel Kennedy, renowned violinist, again. Being with him brings her into her family's world again. When the book ended it was and oh no it's over time and can hardly wait to read another one.

I completely fell in love with this book. It was such a sweet love story and what made it better it was all about two violinist. I play the violin and I guess that part is what completely pulled me into the story. I love the relationship between Mary and Daniel and of course the their families. The way she ended this story was perfect and was a great lead into the next book that I am getting to read right now so I can find how the story ends.
