The book jumps around a fair bit at the start and is tough to follow. It eventually catches its stride and becomes a more enjoyable read. Robinson’s ability to analyze, asses and critique teams, players and coaches is impressive. These segments where he dissects hockey really make the book special. He understands the history of the game and how hockey changes as the eras do, which he demonstrates on numerous occasions. The book was published in the late 80’s so you don’t get any insight into his post playing days which is a shame. If you can get through the first handful of chapters the book really becomes worth a read.
