Us Versus Us: Episode 1: The Motion

Rate this book
Whomever said you grow up and grow apart? It’s up to six friends to prove that saying wrong after three years of college and more than a half a decade underneath their belts within this friendship.
Natalia Ingram headlines this episode when she finds herself searching for a job in the middle of the night. Accustomed to money and all that came along with it, it’s difficult for her to cope and adjust after the IRS rips through her family fortune and throws her father in prison. She keeps this secret away from her friends, fearing that they would see her differently. Still, she leans on them for support.
Sissilee and high school sweetheart Dip are on the rocks when Sissilee reaches her breaking point. He’d been leaving the house at odd times and had been barely picking up the phone when she calls. After coming to the conclusion of him cheating, Sissilee gives Dip an ultimatum. Unfortunately he makes the wrong choice and it lands him on Natalia’s doorstep. Of course he finds out about her money problems. When offering to cough up cash to keep her quiet, Natalia accepts. What she didn’t know was that she was digging her own grave when keeping multiple secrets away from her friends.
A rocky childhood is what JJ had and all she wanted was the perfect family. Five times she tried to give her love, Sosa, a baby and each time she failed. At her wits end when he rejected her phone calls, didn’t show up to the hospital for support and didn’t reply to her text messages, JJ removes herself from the world completely and it springs off a chain of unfortunate events for the rest of the group.
All Channing Ingram loved was the money. Knowing of his uncle’s fate and how it leaves his cousin with absolutely nothing, he offers her loans that she ultimately turns down each and every single time. That’s all until he formulates another way for his cousin Natalia to dip herself in gold and parlay inside the wealthy lifestyle she had been accustomed to. He does a good deed but only to a certain extent. The young bachelor only offers her the option to benefit himself and to push his cousin out of the way of her own father’s remaining fortunes.
Just in one episode so many secrets are dished, hearts are broken, lives are toyed with and one particular friend arrives from back home and seems to hold the answer to put all of his friends back together again. But at what cost? And how long will it take him to do so with all of the deceit that was spawned in his absence? Holding on to his own dirt Mijo dives head first into fixing this cast to be as they were before all else— as close as family without DNA to prove it. But how long will it take before they discover the real reason he’s returned home?
