From the master historian on Eastern European and nuclear events comes one of my favourite texts. I can’t put my finger on it but Plokhy manages to take you through dense history in an engaging and clear way.
It’s not Chernobyl but is up there.
Also it’s a great starting point to then go onto read his other books about the Cuban missile crisis, nuclear power and the issues of Ukraine now.
