THE DEADLIER THE DECEPTION GROWS.

Hannah Crawford built the kind of life other women dream about, and kill for. She knows because she's done exactly that.

But when a doll surfaces from the past, Hannah's carefully curated life begins to fracture. Cracks spread, exposing the ruthless woman she thought she'd left behind.

As Ethan's distance deepens into betrayal, and an unseen watcher draws dangerously close, what's hidden in the dark will finally come to light.

Some wives bend under pressure.
Hannah shatters everyone who stands in her way.

If Daya Winters writes it, I'll read it 🔪 Thank you for trusting me with this ARC 💖

I went from being Smothered to Unravel(ed) in the second book.

Unravel takes place 12 years after the events of Smothered and all is not what you see. A carefully crafted suburban image has been created.

Witnessing Hannah's identity and struggles, plus the flashbacks of her childhood give the reader a bigger picture as to why she is the way she is. Her intrusive thoughts just made her more relatable as we all have such thoughts 😂🫢

I stayed up past midnight finishing this because I needed to know what happens!

Tropes you will see in this:
-Feminine Rage
-Dark Suburbia
-Trauma, lots of trauma
-A very dangerous, well crafted morally gray FMC.

“Unravel” by Daya Winters absolutely lived up to everything I hoped for after book one. Hannah's story continues in a way that is even darker, more intense, and impossible to look away from. Every chapter is packed with lies, manipulation, and psychological tension that kept me questioning everyone and everything. The constant mind games and suspense had me completely hooked, and I couldn't put it down. If you enjoyed Smother, this sequel delivers everything you'd want and raises the stakes even higher. I hope this series continues!

📖 Unravel
✍️ By Daya Winters | @dayawinters
📚 Smother Series, Book 2
⭐⭐⭐⭐✨

First, I want to thank Daya Winters for trusting me with another ARC. I was lucky enough to be on the ARC team for Smother (Book 1), and I couldn't wait to dive into Unravel. It absolutely did not disappoint.

I don't read many books that have me rooting for someone who isn't exactly the "good guy." Hannah may not technically be a villain, but she's undeniably manipulative, vindictive, and willing to cross lines most people wouldn't. And somehow... you can't help but root for her. One of my favorite parts of this sequel was seeing just how much she's grown since Book 1.

After finishing Smother, I couldn't understand why Hannah would stay with her husband. In Unravel, we finally get the answers. We dive into her past, discover what shaped her into the woman she is today, and it all makes so much more sense. I remember mentioning in my review of Book 1 that I wanted Hannah's backstory, and I'm so glad we got it.

One thing I especially appreciated was the pacing of the twists. There are enough surprises to keep you completely engaged, but not so many that the story feels over-the-top or unrealistic. Around Chapter 50, everything starts to unravel one after another.

We also discover just how much Hannah has in common with her mother-in-law. That said, Hannah's sense of justice feels far more deliberate. I found myself completely invested in the way Hannah handles things... even if her methods are definitely extreme.

I also loved the way Mrs. Henderson and Hannah's work as Cynthia's book editor were woven into the story. Neither subplot felt forced, and both added meaningful layers to Hannah's character.

And the creepy doll Rosie? I loved that callback. I was so glad Allie found her and managed to put her to good use. 😉

Now I'm left with so many questions. How will Allie's story develop? Will Cynthia write another book? And, most importantly... will there be a Smother Book 3? Because I am absolutely ready for it.

Thank you to @booksandbloompr for sending this ARC my way!

[[ARC Review | No Spoilers]]

Ho…..ly….. shiiiiiiit.
I’m reeling right now as I write this review seconds after finishing ‘Unravel,’ so bear with me.

Psychological thriller is a genre I thought I had read through and wouldn’t find have the ability to be surprised anymore. I genuinely believed I could guess the ending of each thriller I read and I’ve been right - until now. ‘Unravel’ is a phenomenal rendition of what happens when getting lost in your own temptations and being swallowed up by your own fear come with dire consequences.

The story revolves around Hannah and Ethan’s marriage, but that’s just a thread in the inner weaving of this divine concoction Daya has created. Each side character, from Mrs. Henderson to Josh to Allie, shed light upon how important each piece on the chessboard can be if you pay attention closely. What begins as an unfruitful marriage turns into a stark strike across the face to a horror of their own making, whether they are moving the pieces or if they’re turning a blind eye to when someone else is.

I truly cannot recommend this book enough and I hope all of my fellow readers who have felt a lack of spark and connection to the genre will take the chance and read this spectacular tale. Daya Winters has breathed new life into the realm with this showstopper of a book and she deserves to be given the opportunity to see how impactful and inspiring her writing really is.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I absolutely loved Smother, so to see this was a continuation of the book that had my world turned upside down while reading it put my life on pause...yet again!

Unravel is a brilliantly crafted psychological thriller that had me completely hooked from the very first chapter.

Hannah Crawford appears to have the perfect life...a beautiful home, a wealthy husband, and two children but beneath the surface lies a past built on lies, manipulation, and murder. When a mysterious doll from her past reappears, the carefully constructed life she's spent years protecting begins to unravel, forcing buried secrets into the light.

The story is packed with suspense, shocking twists, and a constant sense of tension that kept me turning the pages late into the night. Hannah is such a compelling character...complex, calculating, and unpredictable and watching everything she worked so hard to hide slowly fall apart was absolutely captivating. The introduction of the mysterious watcher and the growing betrayals around her added another layer of intrigue that made it impossible to put down.

The pacing was excellent, the characters were well-developed, and every chapter ended with me needing to know what happened next. This series just keeps getting better, and the ending left me wanting more.

With that being said...I like the way you think, and I can't wait for the next book about Allie 🙏🏻

I can't say enough how much I love this book. This is the second time in the last week that I have named the second book in a series as blowing the first one out of the water.

I am so lucky to be on the Daya winters street team and to be able to help promote this book. It's an amazing book.

This book had my jaw on the ground from start to finish. I was yelling at the characters, telling them how stupid they were, yelling "I knew it" when I got things right, and was shocked when I got them wrong.

There are so many twists and turns in here. Even in the first 5 pages things happen that you do not expect. This was such a wild ride full of deception, thrills, chills, betrayal and pure rage.

The creepy doll from Smother? Yeah, it's back, as are Ethan, Hannah and a whole new cast of victims, er, i mean characters. I can't recommend this enough, especially if you love thrillers.
This book is for lovers of Lucinda Berry and Frieda McFadden. Even if you don't like those authors and you just like thrillers in general then it's for you. If you're new to the thriller genre it's for you. Ok, if you just like reading then this book, along with the first book, smother (read that first), is for you.

My rating
1 million ⭐
Spice:2🌶️
Rage:🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

Seriously though, read this book, it's the best thriller of the summer. 😺

What a wild, heart pounding ride! @dayawinters had my heart racing throughout this entire book! Each chapter adds another thrilling element that keeps you on the edge of your seat as this story literally unravels.

🖤"Not out of good judgment. Out of curiosity, boredom, and a lifelong commitment to terrible choices."

Set 12 years after Smother, we get more of Ethan and Hannah's relationship and what a wild ride it is. You do not need to read Smother to understand Unravel; however, I highly recommend that you do read it. Smother is incredible and I feel having read it enhanced my experience with Unravel.

🖤"Treating your body as a temple. My body? Definitely not a temple. More of a crime scene. But sure, Sabrina—namaste."

🖤“You know the worst part about being invisible?” he says finally. “What’s that?” “You start to think maybe you deserve to be.”

Highly recommend this book as well as Smother, to readers who enjoy fast-paced, dark psychological thrillers filled with morally grey characters and feminine rage.

Thank you @dayawinters and @booksandbloompr for the gifted copy and having me on the book tour for Unravel.

When I requested this as an arc, I didn't realize it was the second book.
I'm sure it was written somewhere and I just overlooked it. That is completely my fault.
What I will say is, regardless of not having read the first book, this was good!
It's been a minute since I read a thriller.
This felt like that little tickle you get under your skin that makes you nervous. That was the thriller part. It wasn't sharp and loud, it was subtle and soft and makes you a little wary.
Hannah was a great main fmc. She has so many facets to her that you aren't aware of. And that in itself is the scary part. The not knowing which part of her you're going to get.
I couldn't put it down. All the things running through her mind and all the things that happened were just a little crazy but I couldn't look away.
And then there's all the side characters. They were all so different and yet they all had dark parts of them. The combination of it all makes for a great read.
All in all, I really enjoyed this.

*Thank you to Iris Influencers and to the author for letting me read this in exchange for a review. As always, I'm grateful and appreciative that I get to do this.

Unravel takes place 12 years after the events of Smother. Hannah and Ethan have built what seems like the perfect life in a quiet suburban neighborhood, raising their son and daughter. But when Hannah’s carefully constructed world begins to unravel, the cracks reveal that nothing—and no one—is quite what they seem.

This is the kind of psychological thriller that keeps you glued to the pages, constantly questioning who you can trust. Every time I thought I had the mystery figured out, the story pulled the rug out from under me. I was completely wrong—and I loved every second of it.

Daya Winters masterfully builds tension while crafting an immersive, twist-filled story that had me rooting for Hannah, even as she was willing to do whatever it took to protect her family. If you love thrillers packed with unreliable perspectives, shocking reveals, and suspense that doesn’t let up, Unravel is one to add to your TBR.

Thank you to the author for providing me with an advance review copy. I received this ARC for free, and all opinions expressed are my own.

She does it again! I absolutely devoured this book! Ill write a better review tomorrow. I stayed up too late reading this.

UPDATE:

I am still reeling over the ending of this! I dont know why I'm surprised tho. Daya has a way of getting into the charatcers heads and making them come alive. And she has you on the edge of your seat for the entire book. You think you know where the book is headed and then the twists and turns start happening!!

I loved the time jump and getting to see how Hannah and Ethan grew together and severally. Still want to punch Ethan in the face. Bc well, read the books and find out! And of course everyones fav creepy doll is back 😫 Of course her daughter would find it and love it. Still curious how she came up with the name Rosie... Hate that thing!

Anyways. This series has been amazing! You dint have to read Smother to read Unravel, but it does help the book make more sense. Go grab it! You wint be disappointed!!!

Unravel completely pulled me in from the first chapter, and I finished it in a single day because I couldn’t put it down. Every time I thought I had figured something out, another revelation changed everything. The twists genuinely shocked me, and there were several moments where I actually gasped out loud.

Daya Winters expertly builds the tension, weaving together grief, betrayal, infidelity, murder, and long buried secrets into a story that kept me completely immersed. Watching Hannah’s carefully curated life slowly unravel was captivating, and every reveal felt bigger than the last.

There is so much I want to talk about, but this is one of those thrillers that’s best experienced knowing as little as possible. If you love psychological thrillers filled with layered mysteries, morally complex characters, and jaw dropping twists, add Unravel to your TBR.

This was an effortless five star read that reminded me exactly why I love this genre.

Thank you to the author for the ARC.

I absolutely LOVED Unravel!

This is the kind of thriller that will have you on the edge of your seat from the very first page until the shocking final twist. Heart pounding, suspenseful, dark, and packed with unexpected turns, it’s a must read for every thriller lover.

This book completely blew my mind. Every twist left me speechless, and just when I thought I had everything figured out, Daya Winters proved me wrong. I honestly don’t have enough words to describe how incredible this reading experience was.

Daya Winters continues to prove why she’s one of my favorite authors. Her writing is flawless, immersive, and brilliantly crafted, making it impossible to put the book down.

Thank you so much Daya Winters for having me on your ARC Team, and for providing me with this eARC. All opinions are my own.

Highly recommend.

The title literally couldn't have been better. Talk about unravel. The person? The marriage? The seams of reality? There are just so many things you can name unraveling in this one, it's insane but in a good way. I didn't read the first book but read the cliff notes version of it so it gave me a base to stand on. I must say, this is a wild one. Completely unhinged. Once you start reading, it'll honestly be hard to put down. Trying to connect all the dots will be the fun part of the absolute chaos that this book is.

Fav Quotes:

"Desperation is an underrated motivator.”

“Everyone who helps you wants something. The trick is figuring out what it is before they take it.”

“I got tired of women mistaking kindness for safety.”

From the very first chapter, I was completely hooked. This is one of those books that makes you say, "Just one more chapter," only to realize hours have passed. I genuinely could not put it down because I constantly needed to know what was going to happen next.
The pacing was fantastic, the story kept me invested the entire time, and there were plenty of moments that kept me turning the pages. If you're looking for a book that grabs your attention from the beginning and refuses to let go, this is definitely one to add to your TBR. I'm so grateful I had the chance to read this advanced copy, and I can't wait for her next book ! After reading smother and now this, I will read anything by Daya Winters .

Unravel is the perfect name for this engaging thriller from Daya Winters! It's book two in the Smother series, and finds our FMC, Hannah, 12 years after the events of Smother (book one). Hannah has built the "perfect" little suburban life with Ethan and their two children, but one day, a creepy doll from the past mysteriously reappears, and following that, little things start happening, one thing after another. With so many twists and turns, this book keeps you on your toes, wondering what will happen next, and how far Hannah will go to keep her carefully constructed world from falling apart. A psychological thriller with lies, betrayal, murder, plot twists, mystery - with a shocking conclusion that will leave you gasping.

Unravel, in my eyes is the perfect follow up to Smothered. We enter Hannah and Ethan’s lives 12 years later. New lives, with a new home in the burbs with the a son and daughter. It seems like life has really smiled on them since getting rid of Vivian, that is until Hannah’s life gets turned upside down.

In this story we learn just what Hannah is willing to do in order to keep her family afloat.

I really enjoyed the side plots of Hannah getting back into her editing and hearing more about her childhood. I also am happy to see more about Rosie. Creepy dolls in stories, just tickle my fancy.

Also maybe an Allie follow up? I would love to know how the kids turn out🩵🩵🩵

Wow! Just wow! Smothered was amazing but this was brilliant. Love this type of story where the “good” girl wins. Hannah and Ethan’s story continues 12 years after Smothered ends and they now have children and are trying to move on with their lives… but do marriage vows mean anything to them anymore? Is murder still a solution to problems? Everyone thinks they know the real Hannah but they have no idea what she’s capable of. Absolutely enjoyed this novel as an ARC read truly hope there are more sequels and the story continues!!

This book! I thought Smother was unhinged. Unravel has it beat. There was no way I wasn’t reading this book after reading Smother. I had to see how Hannah and Ethan’s story progressed! There were so many times I said “Whaaaat?!” 😅 Not finding out Hannah’s back story until the second book!! All the awful choices and her trying to stay several steps ahead. She was definitely giving Sarah vibes from The Perfect Marriage. The book kept me guessing, they were constantly changing. I received an ARC of this book and am leaving my honest review. Thank you!

Their marriage and family has been built on terrible secrets and boy do they “unravel”.
That’s all you get because I really don’t want to spoil anything for you.
