I went into this book mostly blind and I loved it! It had such a cool vibe set in the late 90's Ireland/UK? And the writing was so well done, I could easily picture every scene.
I saw that someone compared this book to Vampire Diaries and Supernatural and I really could see that. I love the "chosen one" trope so much and I think this author did it really well. I thought the build up to Ailsa's power was also really well played out until literally the last couple sentences of the book.
I liked Davien and Ailsa together and throwing in who Leon was, was perfect.
I called most of the twists, but they were so well written, I didn't mind being right.
I can't wait for the next book!

Vampire romance in 90s uk setting, goth fmc discovers shes a born vampire when her fangs and blood lust suddenly emerge and is kidnapped by hot broody 900 yr old vampire and together they attempt to elude the grasp of the vampire empire that seek to imprison and use her to expand the born vampire population. Everyone wants her for their own competing reasons but ultimately their own gain.
I was expecting it to be a wee bit spicier, being a dark vampire romance. I feel like when the steam happened it was pretty straightforward and vanilla. i feel like since there was such a build up it could have been explored a bit more. Having said that, the chemisty between Ailsa and Davien was hotttt and the tension build between them was making me slightly insane in a good way, and without giving too much away some stuff happening at the end of the book has created that much more intrigue about what is going to unfurl in the next book. I honestly have no idea what direction she will go in!
It took a long time for things to start happening and I felt like a lot of the story was killing time before the inevitable instead of really trying to achieve anything tangible with being on the run, there didn't seem to be any real goal here or plot progression except for space for the romance to develop. Just my honest opinion, BUT when things actually did start happening it got SO GOOD! 🔥
The finale of the book was where I really got into the story, and I feel like the ending was so well done 👌🏻 and it saved it for me and made me commit to continuing the series.

Sometimes you don't need a book to completely blow your mind — you just need it to be a really fun time, and that's exactly what No One's Daughter was for me.
This was a quick, accessible vampire romantasy that hooked me pretty early on. The pacing moves quickly without feeling rushed, and I found myself flying through it. I wouldn't say there were any huge twists or moments that completely surprised me, and I predicted quite a few things along the way, but that didn't stop me enjoying the ride.
I enjoyed the characters, particularly Davien, but I don't feel like we got a huge amount of depth from both Ailsa and Davien in this first book. There were moments where I struggled to understand the reasoning behind some decisions. That said, I have a feeling there's still a lot about Ailsa that we don't know. I'm particularly interested in learning more about her early life, as I think that additional context could help me understand her thought processes and motivations much better.
The romance had plenty of chemistry and tension and was one of my favourite parts of this read.
As this is the beginning of a series, I'm curious to see how the relationships and charcters develop as the series continues.
The world-building is fairly light in this first instalment, but the straightforward writing and fast pacing made this incredibly easy to fly through.

Let me start off by saying I loved the vibes of this book! It had that 90's grunge feel that was like time traveling to the past. The FMC, Ailsa is a mouthy badass and her attitude was so relatable, she was fully ready to take on a 600-year old vampire with just her hands and no training lol. I loved that she never seemed to back down from a fight and was ready to own her newfound skills instead of being a damsel in distress. The political and magic systems are both so unique to what you usually expect in a vampire story but the way old vampire abilities were intertwined with new ones was so well done! It's a refreshing take on traditional vampire lore.
And let's talk about DAVIEN!! Sweet, perfect, obsessed, little emo-boy Davien. The way he quietly yearns and let's her hate him because he knows he can't have her - but wants a taste anyway 🥵
It gives Vampire Diaries meets Supernatural with a dark 90's twist that the millennial in me loved. The scene where Davien and Leon are walking behind Ailsa reminded me of Stefan and Damon walking behind Elena in that viral scene and it did something to me. The unexpected introduction of an earlier character as her "bodyguard" was such a great tie-in! I can't wait to see how they work together to upend the status-quo. I couldn't believe the ending, with so much more of the story left to be told I have a few hopes for the next book, which I absolutely will be reading. I need more Davien and Ailsa asap. Such a great read and perfect for spooky season!!

Turning into a vampire usually entails some sort of bite - but what happens when you spontaneously turn at 27, and no one is there to explain what the hell is going on?
Ailsa is a no-nonsense woman, getting by with a quiet life on her own, only showing up where she is wanted or where she wants to be. She's already come to terms with the fact that her family is a little dysfunctional, but who's isn't? Even though it's not perfect, her world suddenly turns upside down when she's thrust into a world of magic and vampires - something she never actually thought was real - and her immediate family is put in danger. However, an even more disturbing family secret may come to the surface as her powers, patience, and emotions are all tested in the name of an ancient prophesy.
Really enjoyed this first book in the Sins of the Blood series - the pacing was fast but easy to follow, the characters were witty and incorrigible, and the plot left us off at a really high cliffhanger PERFECT for introducing the next installment. This was crafted very well in terms of mood and winding us through the discovery of this particular world piece by piece. I am left with a few mostly unimportant questions - like what happened to the cat, is the cat also supernatural or a spy, is the cat taken hostage by the vampires?? We need answers.
But - otherwise I'm very excited to see what becomes of this series! Very unique concept without making the FMC perfect and palatable, which is what we need more of. I mean, what would you do if overnight you suddenly had the power to bend the world to your will?

I’ve been in the mood for another vampire book, and No One’s Daughter was exactly what I was looking for! 🧛🏻♀️🩸
One of my favorite things about this book was the atmosphere. The dark, grungy 90s vibe gave the story such a unique feel and made it really easy to get pulled into the world. I also really enjoyed the way the author put their own spin on traditional vampire lore. The mix of old and new vampire abilities, along with the political and magical elements, made the world feel fresh and different from the typical vampire story.
Ailsa was such a fun FMC to follow. She’s stubborn, mouthy, and absolutely refuses to back down, even when she probably should 😂. I loved watching her discover her abilities and become more confident rather than constantly needing someone to save her.
And then there’s Davien… 👀 I definitely understand the hype. His quiet yearning and the tension between him and Ailsa made their relationship one of my favorite parts of the story. There was plenty of chemistry, and the spice was just the right amount for me without taking away from the actual story.
Overall, this was such a fun vampire read with a unique world, a great atmosphere, plenty of tension, and just the right balance of storytelling and spice. This book was fang-flippen-tastic! (I am so sorry...)
I was immediately sucked (why, am I like this?) into this atmospheric 90s grunge, goth vampire tale and I had such a good time with it. If you were born in the 80s or 90s, I think this one is going to tick some serious nostalgic boxes for you. I’m talking the classic vampire stories we loved before TVD, before hybrids, before everyone started having a different supernatural species (don't get me wrong, I LOVE TVD, but this felt more vamp centric).
In saying that… that cliffhanger. I am unwell. It gave me the same kind of "Elena turning off her humanity switch" feeling and I genuinely need to know what happens next!
The dynamic between Davien and Ailsa? Shah good! A fierce, yearning, grumpy, secretive MMC and a sassy, stubborn, not backing down FMC… (cue tension and banter!) what more could a reader possibly ask for?
I loved their dynamic, I loved the nostalgia, I was transported straight into this world. Needless to say, I’ll be picking up the next book. I feel like we have only just scratched the surface of this one!

“Wow” This Dark Vampire Romantasy was so good! Our FMC goes through a huge change at 27 and becomes her true self… a born vampire. And SURPRISE..a 900 year-old vampire who is supposed to hunt her, kidnaps her instead🤭 Doesn’t that sound absolutely delicious? Well, it is. One of my favorite things about this book is the way the FMC described drinking bl00d. I have read more vampire books than I can count and have never truly read a description like this and it 1000% makes sense. So obsessed.

Okay wow... K.R. Bacher promised a dark vampire romantasy and she DELIVERED with this one!!
Set in the UK in the 90's, this was an incredibly fun and entertaining read from the start. Our black-cat FMC, Ailsa, finds herself mysteriously turned into a vampire after a crazy night out. And then we have our super super hot hot (and pierced) MMC, Davien, a very old vampire that kidnaps Ailsa only to realize he needs to protect her, due to secrets yet to be uncovered. 👀
The vibe is dark and moody, and so are both MC's. Loved the dual POV and the several little twists that occurred throughout. This was not only a vampire book - but also involved other magic/supernatural aspects.

What would you do if you had a birthday and suddenly became a vampire? When I first learned about this book, I thought "that sounds really good!" And I was right! I have not read anything by this author before but the whole paranormal aspect is what drew me in (and that beautiful cover!) The author was very descriptive, which made it easy to see the vision in my mind. This has multiple POV's which I thought was nice, because I wanted to know if Alisa wanted Davien as well! 😆 Lol! On that note, there is yearning, banter, and spice! This story also has plenty of action and twists that made me want to keep reading and reaching for it! Of course, this ends on a cliffhanger so I cannot wait for the next in the series! If you like vampire books/stories, put this on your TBR!

Honest thoughts after reading an advanced copy.
Refreshing FMC, who is 27 and grounded. Ailsa’s perspective was enjoyable, I found her relatable and capable which made me follow with more enthusiasm.
I love that it’s set in the 90s, could have had some more nostalgia but it made me happy. Also as a Brit, loved reading so many British phrases, it made it feel familiar.
I predicted a couple of the twists but still really enjoyed watching them play out and loved being surprised by others!
Both Davien and Leon have some great intrigue and I’m so invested and can’t wait to see how things develop as the series continues. It feels like we’ve just scraped the surface of this vampire society!

I devoured this like Devion devours Ailsa's blood! And absolutely left no crumbs.
What a wild ride this was! Its like Vampire Diaries and Supernatural had a baby! I could not put it down. I loved Ailsa's independent bad ass attitude. Davion is a Golden retriever masquerading as a rottweiler and I cant wait to see how he develops in the next book. Also that ending! I hope we dont have to wait too long for book 2 😊

I am new to vampire romantasy, and I am so glad I was able to start with this book! The writing was amazing, and I felt as if I could see every scene. I immediately loved Ailsa, and was invested in her story. I love reading a book where you get to find out new information as the character does. Also, the forced proximity -> touch her and die progression was perfection. The twists kept me on the edge of my seat, and now I cannot wait for book 2!!

4.5 ⭐️ (since Goodreads doesn’t allow half star ratings, I’m rounding up). This book was fun with a dark atmosphere. It left me looking forward to what’s next, and I enjoyed the set-up with multiple love interests that were all intriguing in their own ways.

Where did Ailsa disappear to? How? I have so many questions!
Ailsa is a vampire 'the' vampire though she has no idea how or what she is.
This is a great read but it does end on a cliff hanger and I am hoping I'm not left on the edge too long!

Alisa is forced to fight to unlock her newly discovered identity, vampiric background and ancient powers ....No one's daughter is giving vampire - bourne identity vibes... with a 1987 Jason Patric esk MMC ...oh and a plot twist that will drop your jaw!!

First of all, I would like to thank the author for sending me a copy of this book, as an ARC in exchange for an honest review!
I devoured this book! The chemistry between the to MCs was so much fun. It was brutal and filled with feminine rage and the confused yearning... Say no more. I enjoyed how the FMC owned her new power and prowess, it was very empowering.
I will say not a fan of the surprise 3rd POV - I think because I much prefer single or dual POV, but that's a personal gripe and in no way a reflection on the story-telling. It just felt a little unnecessary, in my opinion. Yes it tied to the beginning, but still, felt a little pointless.
There were also a few continuity and grammatical errors, which disrupted the flow, but I imagine these will be worked out in time for the final publish.
Overall, I had a fun time reading this and I look forward to the continuation of this story.
