Full disclosure: dystopian fiction is not usually my preferred genre. But this incredible series completely shattered my expectations! Ever since I read the first book, Skyjack, I've been completely addicted to this world, and Haven is a phenomenal, breathtaking sequel.

This book pulls you right into the ruins of Exeter and inside the terrifying walls of the Haven, a hidden compound where women are controlled, tested, and used as hosts. The premise is chilling and deeply atmospheric, perfect for fans of The Handmaid's Tale and The Hunger Games.

What makes this story shine is the sheer stakes. Elise is an unforgettable heroine, resilient, fierce, and entirely driven by the need to get back to her son on the outside.
The pacing is absolutely relentless. Between the forced pregnancies, the fragile alliances, and a massive, growing network of control, the tension never lets up for a single second.

When Elise is faced with the ultimate, gut-wrenching choice, to save everyone or save the one life she can, the emotional weight is heavy. It's a fast-paced, high-stakes ride full of impossible choices, sacrifice, and the beautiful bond of found family under pressure.

Lizzie Fry has crafted a masterful, binge-worthy thriller that you can easily devour in a single evening. Getting out is only the beginning, and I already cannot wait to see what happens next. Highly, highly recommended!

Haven is the fast paced sequel to Lizzy Fry’s bleak dystopian novella “Skyjack” … and it doesn’t disappoint. We follow Elise a young woman kidnapped by the Skyjackers from Lynmouth and taken to ‘Haven’. A facility where women are – imprisoned – impregnated and forced to give birth. Women are assets. Valuable only as long as their bodies can carry a child but not just any child – a GIRL.
Elise is a survivor, desperate to escape and driven by the need to return to her son on the outside. She’s brave, resilient, created by a tough childhood, and thinks she’s broken. But when Elise has an opportunity to escape by herself – can she leave the other women who arrived with her?
Lizzie Fry leads us further into this terrifying dystopia that could be just around the corner. This is a story of high-stakes, sacrifice, impossible choices and the bonds of unlikely friendships. I can’t wait to find out what happens next, and would highly recommend.

I couldn't wait to get my hands on this one; after the terrifying ending of Skyjack, I needed to know what happened next.
The tension ramps up as we change POV characters to Elise and she gets inducted into Exeter Haven (no not the holiday park down by the Exmouth cliffs, though there are similarities). There's less "guess which bit of Devon we're in and try and figure out the roads" this time round, as we're mostly in the claustrophobic prison environment, but there is the added "ooh, he seems nice, I bet he isn't really" factor which makes up for it.
The dystopian post-apocalyptic vibe is pitched exactly right, and the ending will leave you panting for more of the same.

Thriller of the Year for Me!

I love high action thrillers with memorable characters to invest in but those two things don’t often go together. I wasn’t sure about this book because it’s dystopian but someone recommended it to me and I’m so glad they did! This novel barely lets you take a breath, and the characters are so complex and engaging plus a romantic strand that doesn’t compete with the story but is surprisingly tender. Read this when you can lie in the next day, because it’s a one sitting story you’ll devour in one night. Brilliant!,

I was totally hooked on this thrilling series after reading the kickoff SKYJACK. HAVEN doesn't disappoint, with its gripping visuals, constant tension, heartpounding surprises, and a heroine who is determined to survive.
