Wow! Just, wow. A story of grief and love, and the intertwining of both. Parental love, child love, relationship love… and grief from all angles too.
I did not expect to become so engrossed in this story. It’s the book you can’t stop reading but also don’t want it to end.
I don’t know if this was on purpose or not, but I love the neutrality of the names. Nadia, Hannah, Liam; names used across ethnicities and religions. In that way, when reading it is so easy to imagine your own love and grief, or those you have loved and lost, making the experience so much more personal.
In reviews of other books, I have expressed my annoyance and by the over description of scenes. There is a lot of description in this book BUT I was not annoyed by it… I felt immersed. I could picture it, I could feel it, I could smell it.
The small breaks of humour has me giggling out loud, and of course a few times I was glad the tissues were close by.
I have already messaged all readers I know to give this one a read and urge you to do the same!
