Orphanage director by day, jewel thief by night. Using her magic to rob from the rich to keep the orphanage running seems like the perfect solution until Kat steals from the wrong man, a man who sees through her magic, a man who can see the scars she hides from the world.

Toren MacCallum is cursed. An old witch tore him from his sixteenth century world and threw him into the twenty-first century. But he’s found an ancient dragonfly necklace to bait the witch to return him to his time. For he must find a way home to save his sister and his clan from disappearing off the pages of history.

When a mysterious woman steals the necklace in front of a hundred witnesses, the witch, followed by a storm of demons, sends Kat and him to Elizabethan England. Toren agrees to return the necklace, but he won’t give up the greater prize, the thief who’s stolen his heart.

I am Heather McCollum, writer of 16th and 17th century Scottish romance full of adventure and intrigue, sprinkled with humor, history, and spice. Brawny Highlanders and feisty heroines are my favorite characters!

I am also a mom of three kids, dog-mom of one rescued geriatric golden retriever, and wife of one 6 foot 4 inch Highlander. When I’m not trying to help my kids make it through the day, baking things I see on The Great British Baking Show, or writing, I’m usually educating women on ovarian cancer (I’m a nine-year survivor).

I love kilted heroes, chai lattes, and eating buttered air-popped popcorn for dinner on Friday nights (my dog loves this one too).

Being of Scottish descent and actually descended from clan MacCallum, I chose to review this book for purely selfish reasons. I felt it would be interesting to read a romance based upon my own clan instead of say, the time traveling Frasers, and yes, I've read those too. Having said that, I truly enjoyed this story!

A time traveling witch, who does not know she's from possibly a thousand or more years ago, who is also a cat burglar with a robin hood complex, meets a time traveling Laird of a beleaguered Elizabethan Scottish clan, while trying to abscond with his magic necklace. Through the efforts of the spirit of another deceased witch they are tossed back and forth through time to avoid an evil that is out to steal Kat's powers and destroy the world.

This appears to be the third instalment in a series, which I only became aware of when Ms. McCollum introduced the other two sisters and they had already found their mates. Being a third book made absolutely no difference to the story, although I believe I would have enjoyed it even more had I read the first two first. There will, I think be a forth book as Kat has a “missing” twin sister. It was also alluded to that there is an unknown fifth brother or sister out there that even the helpful dragonfly witch spirit seemed ignorant of.

This book was very well written and engaging. This is the kind of tale that won't allow you to put the book down. It will keep you up late into the wee hours with red eyes until you've turned the final page. You will love it!!

What an absolutely thrilling, chilling rollercoaster ride through time! This book is without a doubt one of the very best books I have read this year. Modern day witch and thief, Kat, steals for the best of reasons, but when a sexy, mysterious man, Toren MacCallum sees through her glamour and confronts her about her newest acquisition, both he and Kat are catapulted back in time, by a well-intentioned spirit, to sixteenth century England. Unexpectedly, back in his own time, Toren and Kat become embroiled in a land feud with the Campbell’s that could mean the end of the MacCallum line. Kat uses her powers to rescue Toren’s sister from her would-be rapist and murderer but unintentionally draws an evil horde of demons bent on possessing the dragonfly amulet that Kat had stolen from Toren.

This beautifully written, perfectly edited story is the third book in the Dragonfly Chronicles, but it is a magnificent stand-alone adventure all on its own merit. This story abounds with humor and characters that will steal your heart away. The adventures kept me breathless. Toren is a hero in any age. He and Kat are resourceful, daring characters who will take whatever measures are necessary to protect those dependent upon them. Get swept away in the grandeur, pageantry, and adventure of this well-researched novel that is sure to capture your imagination and leave you panting for more from this talented author.

Another Great In the Fantastical Dragonfly Series
Loved it! I normally don’t like books set in modern times, so I was wary about this one. But, they spent most of the book in the 1500's and so it worked for me. I loved the turmoil of the H&h being from different times and Kat knowing that she couldn’t stay in 1588 with Toren. Kat is a history buff, so it was fun to read about her excitement in wearing period costumes and getting to meet The Queen. It gave her nice depth. I didn’t like how obsessed Kat was with her facial scars. I think it would have been much stronger to have the power to hide them, but not, because she is confident in who she is. I get it was about character growth and learning to love yourself inside and out, but I wasn’t into that journey with Kat. Toren was the typical highlander hero. I think his character could’ve been a little darker. I was engrossed with the action at the end with Kat being trapped and struggling to escape! So well written! Sometimes romances authors are afraid to make it too dark or too dramatic but McCollum goes there and I crave it! The scene of Kat weaving through a crowded room in only her underwear invisible to all but Toren was brilliantly hilarious! Kat’s power is one of my least favorite. That’s maybe because she spent most the book being unable to use it, so it became rather pointless. I have read everything published by Heather McCollum and there isn’t a book of hers I didn’t like. I highly recommend her books and especially this series. WARNING: there is sex in this book, it is not erotica, but enough to be a steamy & hot adult romance. Please do not read if you are looking for something PG. Romance-5/5 Steaminess-3/5 Explicitness-3/5

This is Kat's story. The third daughter of Gilla, who sends her 4 daughters to different time periods in order to save them. Kat is sent to modern times to an orphanage. When she is young she is burned and scared. Her gift is the gift of glimmer. She also has an extraordinary gift of stealing...with her glimmer gift she is an expert cat burglar. She steals to keep the orphanage (which she now runs) going. Well she steals a necklace, which happens to belong to her mate, Toren. He is from the Elizabethan era (around 1588) and was cursed by Drakkina to modern times. The necklace belongs to the witch (Or Goddess) Drakkina and she has been helping the sisters in each time period to find their mates. She needs each sister and their mate to battle a group of evil beings that are bound as one. Toren needs the necklace to draw Drakkina out and have her send him back. Well both Kat and Toren are sent back to 1588. Their story takes them to Queen Elizabeth's court and the intrigues that happen their. When Kat is sent back to modern times Toren finally realizes he loves her....ah these men!

The mysteries and twists in this book kept me glued to it. Their story was both fun and so romantic. I actually started to like Drakkina! You will love these stories in this series!!

Book 3

Wow its getting better and spanning planes and centuries as well. Missing some details that should be there in regards to the chemistry with the two main characters but great imagination again!

Excellent!

The historical detail between modern days and Elizabethan period for this time travel romance is exceptional! The plot and characters are well rounded, making this book a delightful read.
