Emma Fulton never had to worry about much. Socially driven and happily single, she's been blessed with charm, good looks, and a close-knit community. But after a medical emergency, a dollop of family drama, and a series of near-tragic events, she finds she must question who she can trust.

Preferring solitude to intimacy, Mason Tucker's relatives make it difficult to escape social gatherings and small talk. When Emma's mother marries into his family, he finds himself reluctantly drawn to the beautiful woman who is his complete opposite. But after helping her through a terrible discovery, Emma begins to break down some of Mason's communication barriers and insecurities.

When Emma asks for his assistance in tracking down a secret, Mason tags along in order to keep her safe. Unfortunately, not everyone has Emma's safety in mind when danger waits for the perfect opportunity to strike.

I love a good romance and Marianne Rice is quickly becoming one of my favorite romance authors. False Hope is book two in the series yet I read it before reading book one. Rice does a superb job filling in backstory on the characters. I loved the characters, the plot moved at a good pace and the slow-burning romance made my heart swoon. I was sad when it finished because I wanted to read more. Highly recommend!

4.25 “rock” stars!

I don’t say it very often, but I enjoyed the second book in this series better than the first. False Start was good, but in my opinion, False Hope is better. I’m not sure if it’s the little bit of mystery, the shy hottie named Mason, or Cole’s humor, but I sure did devour this book.

“She was and always would be out of his league. Untouchable.”

Emma didn’t stand out too much to me in False Start, so I wasn’t sure what to expect when starting False Hope. But I was not disappointed!! Emma is a very head strong and smart girl who is not looking for love, she’s still just having a good time. And she certainly wasn’t looking for love as close to home as Mason is to her. As soon as I figured it all out, I was thinking this might be a little weird, but it actually wasn’t. And the saying “opposites attract” definitely holds true for these two. If I had been asked who I thought fit Emma better, I definitely would have picked Cole, but maybe they were too much alike.

“Mason, sometimes I say things I don’t mean. I wish my mouth had a backspace key.”

Emma and Mason’s story isn’t all sweet, sappy, and romantic though. Mason has some serious issues that bugged the hell out of me. Thank goodness Emma was so persistent! Family secrets are revealed, mysteries solved, and there are a few intense moments for Emma. There is a lot packed into this short read, without missing too much detail. Of course Emma and Mason don’t always make the best decisions but the story wouldn’t have been the same if they did ;)

This is a very good series to get your hands on, if you are looking for romance, humor, and a little mystery. Don’t forget to start with False Start, though, so you get to know all the characters 
Happy Reading!!

I really am enjoying this series. The story flows and you can't help but get caught up in the McKay-Tucker clan. They are great sweet romances with a little bit of complication and suspense thrown in. I love series where characters are tied together and this is definetly one of them. Emma is Meg's daughter and Connors stepdaughter. Mason is Connor's brother and Coles twin, who happens to be one of Emma's best friend. Got all that whew!!! Family is extremely important to this clan and they are all there for each other.

This story dealt with a lot of issues that really make you care and feel for Emma. She goes through a lot in a short amount of time and if she wasn't such a strong person, she and most would have crumbled. Mason is her rock and shows he cares by his actions. Mason is quiet and hard working and has an amazing poker face.

My only really issue was that I didn't full connect with Mason, yes he's sweet hot and caring, but I didn't really feel like I knew him. I wish we could have got in his head and knowing him more would have made their connection and story all the more better. I can't wait for Coles story and to see what kind of woman is going to be able to tame him!!!

This is the second book in the McKay-Tucker Men series and Marianne Rice has written another great story. It's a great page turner that keeps you guessing and wanting more.

Emma Fulton, daughter of Meg, who was introduced in the first book, is a physical therapist and a very outgoing, happily single, young woman. After a series of near-tragic events, medical issues, learning about her father, and some family drama, Emma is wondering who she can trust. She lives next door to Cole, and has a great relationship with him and wants to have one with his twin, Mason.

Mason Tucker has recently moved back from New York City and is totally absorbed in his computer work. He prefers solitude but does want to help Emma and she feels comfortable with him. They are attracted to each other but have to work on their communication.

There are some major plot twists and turns and suspenseful areas that kept us hopping in this one and I was really shocked with the outcome. I loved it and can't wait to read the next one.

Emma has everything she could possibly want, good looks, charm, successful business, supportive, loving family and friends. But after one fainting spell her world spins downwards. She discovers things about her and her family that she never thought possible. One man becomes her rock through her storm, but that man is someone she never gave a passing thought. Until now. She sees him in a different light. Her close relationship with his twin brother almost brings theirs to a halt, but when unexpected happens and her life is in danger, he comes through in more ways than she hoped for. Her hopes were not false and her happiness is true. A light hatred romantic romp will delight and entertain you. A great read at the beach, or curled up by the window on a rainy day.

This book had all the elements for me; humor, romance and even some suspense! Much like the first book the author was clever throwing in some unexpected twists keeping it from being another romance novel. Really enjoyed reading about Emma and Mason's budding relationship and excited to begin book three and delve head first into Cole's story!

Emma Fulton is a physical therapist in a small town in New Hampshire. Due to her mom's marriage, she now has a new extended family. Mason Tucker is the complete opposite of his twin outgoing brother Cole, more of a computer nerd and an introvert. The old saying 'opposites attract' applies here as both Emma and Cole harbor secret crushes on the other. It all comes to a head when Emma tackles him in a touch football game and dislocates his shoulder. Cole's appointments for therapy bring their crushes out in the open. There's added drama as Emma has her own health issues and finds out who her father is. Mason supports her while Emma brings him out of his shell.
I've been waiting for this next book in the series; I love heroes who are introverted types and False Hope doesn't disappoint. Emma and Mason are the perfect couple. The action and pacing of the story makes for a fast and fun read. The drama of Emma's health issues is realistic and well-written. It was fun to see the rest of the characters from the first book in the series and see how they're faring. It's a great series for romance readers.

I had the privilege of reading an advanced copy of this book and I enjoyed it very much. It's a charming book full (and I mean FULL) of interesting characters. I haven't read the first book in the series so getting up to speed on the large and complicated family, as well as all their friends, was a bit overwhelming. However, I quickly realized the author did a good job of making them all individuals with distinct ways of expressing themselves. They're quirky, have nicknames for each other, and I really got a kick out of it. The dialogue in this book is fantastic. Thoroughly entertaining.

Emma is the heroine in this story. Her life has been pretty easy, although not perfect, up to now. Boy does that change! She really goes through the wringer in this book and I love how she grows and matures throughout the story.

Mason, the hero, is moody and aloof. He's dealing with his own baggage and you quickly realize he's terribly misunderstood by his family. I love how he steps outside of himself and really helps Emma when she needs him most.

Now, I have to be honest, there were parts of the romance I found abrupt and even a little hard to believe, but the over-all story held things together.

I'd recommend this book to anyone looking for a few hours of fun.

Emma is a woman who knows what she wants and goes after it, until one fateful day where her whole world gets turned upside down. She finds her world crumbling and turns to the one man who has now changed from a silent guy she doesn't know, into her rock in a world that is being shaken to pieces. Mason is a man who is nervous and shy but gets things done. When he realizes how bad things are for Emma he takes matters into his own hands and becomes the glue that holds Emma together. These two are an unlikely match but when they get together sparks start to fly. I absolutely loved these two characters, they were willing to take a leap of faith to stay together and for that they got the ultimate gift. Eachother. I loved this book and this series as a whole. This is not a cliffhanger and for that I am grateful. Every romance lover should read this book. Great job Ms. Rice

I liked that the author also her brother and sister in the book had come and their bond is very strong and that the relationship with her stepfather is also well-supported, if you book you should read instead of the first you will already know something about first book, a well-written book .
Emma was content with life but lacked one thing and that was Mason and I found it amazing to see how their relationship came about and he supported her when events happened in her life.
Mariannw Rice wrote the book quite natural that now anxiously awaiting the third book to know how it goes with iedereen.Of is still a close-knit family and whether a child has come between Emma and Mason and how Meg and Connor as his grandfather and grandmother

After reading book one in this series, I knew I was going to love book two. Marianne Rice is a talented author whose characters are very realistic and really drive her stories. I fell in love with Mason right away. I enjoyed how this story unfolded and how the relationship between Mason and Emma developed. The main characters as well as the secondary characters are all wonderful people you would love to know in real life. I liked the plotline of this story more than book one, only because I don't really care for football, and Mason is more my type of hero than Conner was in book one. Look forward to reading more in this series.
