About the author

New York Times bestselling author Meagan Spooner grew up reading and writing every spare moment of the day, while dreaming about life as an archaeologist, a marine biologist, an astronaut. She graduated from Hamilton College in New York with a degree in playwriting, and has spent several years since then living in Australia. She's traveled with her family all over the world to places like Egypt, South Africa, the Arctic, Greece, Antarctica, and the Galapagos, and there's a bit of every trip in every story she writes.

She currently lives and writes in Asheville, North Carolina, but the siren call of travel is hard to resist, and there's no telling how long she'll stay there. So where art booklet three??👁️👄👁️

But seriously, I have read too many wlw books that left me unsatisfied by the lack of good story telling. As unserious and light-hearted this book can be, it does it in a way that is, like the first one, characteristically amazing! The “dear reader” pieces in between story telling reach out exactly as intended and set the mood for what is to come. I could not get over the hilarious two lines of “as we resume (the story), you might want to duck.” Leaving me as the reader a second confused, before continuing onto the next page with “A tentacle swung out of the depths and slammed into Gwen……” Y’all, I almost DID duck on my damn couch.


The story line, though first thought to be too juvenile for me, progresses BEAUTIFULLY, once again, like the first book. It takes hold of you chapter after chapter and builds suspense until the very ending. I love that this second book touches upon a subject any reader might encounter in their own life and hardships. I did not expect to resonate so deeply with the story, but I did and I’m SO excited for book three. Though seriously, writers: It’s time for Gwen and Isobelle to show their love for each other a little more expressively in their next adventure, no? ;)


Waiting patiently, but not really patiently for part three! 😁

This duology is just so fun! And based on the end of this second book, I’m really hoping this duo is going to be at least a trio! Hopefully. Please!
