Laikyn Morrows is excited to spend her birthday on a cruise ship, in the Bahamas, with her fiancé. Her plans are quickly derailed when she finds herself face-to-face with the man who broke her heart three years ago.
Kyon Shoulders’ plans were to enjoy a free trip, sign a sweet deal, and continue living it up as one of the top wide receivers in the nation. Never in his wildest dreams did he think he would run into the love of his life. One moment, they were happily in love, and the next, she had returned her engagement ring and left him with more questions than answers.
The ocean isn’t the only thing making waves, as Kyon is determined to shake things up and win back the love of the woman who holds the key to his heart. When true motives are uncovered and a long-awaited truth is revealed, both are left with a burning question that only they can answer. Can we save our love?
(4.5⭐️) This was a semi-messy good time! Laikyn was on a cruise with her trash fiancé when she unexpectedly ran into her ex-fiancé, and it was immediately clear that those two had some unfinished business.
Once they finally had an honest conversation about where things went wrong, it felt like no time had passed between them. Was their reconnection a little quick after three years apart? Absolutely. But for some reason, I didn’t mind it. Maybe it’s because this was a novella and I adjusted my expectations accordingly, but their chemistry and lingering feelings made it work for me.
The banter throughout the book kept things entertaining (China was an absolute mess 😭).There were also a couple characters who were very easy to dislike (Kalvin had entirely too much audacity and stayed working my nerves.)
Overall, this was a fun second-chance romance about soulmates, timing, and the importance of honest communication. I honestly found myself teetering on a 5⭐️ rating because I enjoyed it that much. The only thing that kept me from going all the way there was that I would have loved a little more time with them after the cruise to see what their life & reconnection looked like in real time once they got home.
"S.O.L." by Kami was a really quick read, which honestly surprised me, but I love a short story that gets right to the point. From the moment the story starts at the port, it moves fast and keeps you engaged.
Laikyn and Kyon were lovable, and the characters you were supposed to dislike made that very easy. Kalvin had me irritated immediately, which means Kami did what she needed to do with him. The issues between Laikyn and Kalvin were messier than I expected, but that made Kyon stepping in and showing her what real love is supposed to feel like even better.
This was simple, sweet, dramatic where it needed to be, and gave me one of my favorite tropes: second chance romance. I also loved that we got a happily ever after. I’m not always quick to give five stars because a book has to feel damn near perfect for me, but this was definitely an enjoyable read from one of my favorite authors.
This was such a fun, quick read! It gave all the summer vibes, with a cruise as the backdrop, while delivering a second-chance romance centered around a miscommunication.
Kyon completely won me over, and that dinner scene with Kalvin will live rent-free in my head forever. The reveal involving the coaches and teammates genuinely shocked me and was a reminder that you can’t always trust the people around you.
Laikyn, I get it, girl, but I still would’ve needed that conversation before I walked away. Overall, this novella was really good. China was my favorite character, hands down.
Now my question is: does Roxy get a novella? Because I definitely want more of her story! 🙏🏾
🎶 I never got over you and when it’s all said and done I guess I’m still in love with you 🎶 Fantasia said it best. Kami you just never disappoint and while I wish this wasn’t a pamphlet 😂😂(insider) it’s hands down good nonetheless. We were still given a beautiful story, with detailed backgrounds, emotions, and drama in true Kami fashion. Going on a vacation with a pompous, arrogant, childish fiancé makes you put things in perspective as far as staying. Running into the true love of your life after 3 years of believing a whole well orchestrated lie is crazy work but here they are Lai and Kyon. Lai and Kyon were both shocked to run into each other and once they did baby all the feelings came rushing back and he was determined to clear the air of their past and save their love. Loved it 10/10
As always Miss Kami has written an amazing love story! Lai & Ky reconnecting was everything 🥰. She needed to be on that trip so that boy could move out the way and let a real 🥷🏽 back in.
This book had me stressed, entertained, and ready to throw Kalvin off that cruise ship myself. Laikyn really thought she was going on a birthday trip, and this man said, “Surprise! It’s actually a work conference.” Sir, be serious.
Then boom! Her ex‑fiancé Kyon pops up like a fine, six‑foot‑something plot twist. And when he explained those “cheating” photos were staged? I had to close the book and breathe. Because the way Laikyn suffered for NOTHING? Jail for everyone involved.
Kalvin’s behavior went from annoying to “girl, RUN,” and she did exactly that, straight into Kyon’s room like God intended. And when Kyon exposed Kalvin at that business dinner? I was clapping like I was in the audience of a reality show reunion.
The Bahamas part was cute though! Dolphins, snorkeling, soft moments… a well‑deserved vacation from the chaos.
And the ending? Kyon said “new team, new ring, new wife, new baby.” Growth. Healing. Revenge. All in one.

This pamphlet, as the author called it, caught my attention from the very beginning. Kyon and Laikyn were together for a number of years before Laikyn abruptly ended their relationship. Three years pass, and they randomly meet up again on a cruise. Laikyn was on there with her fiancé, and Kyon was there for business purposes. I was glad when Kyon and Laikyn talked and were able to find their way back to one another. I tremendously disliked Laikyn's fiancé, Kalvin, and Kalvin's boss was no better. However, I loved China and all of her shenanigans. I was happy that she was able to find love as well. I'm hoping that we will see Roxy again. This second chance book had laughs, drama, great S3xy time scenes and a soul-satisfying love. I highly recommend that you pick up this book.
Laikyn and Kyonv were engaged many moons ago. She left and cut contact because of images that she received . Kindly never knew the exact reason she left, o ly that she left and her family wouldn't assist him.
Years later, Laikyn is engaged and invited on a cruise by her fiance. She thought it 2as to celebrate her birthday, but she learned quickly, her birthday was forgotten.
Keon is on the same cruise with his brother as a treat to himself. One morning, he is bumped by another cruiser, and it turns out to be his ex-fiance. He makes it his mission to find out why she left.
I'll feeling are stirred up, secrets are revealed, and truths are accepted.
I enjoyed their story and the story of their companions.
I already knew this book was going to be good because duh Kami is the author and she don’t miss! Even though it was a quick read it was a very well rounded and well developed story. It wasn’t rushed and you could relate to the characters. Laikyn was that one! I love how she stood on her boundaries and didn’t let anybody play with her or in her face. Everybody needs a China, I loved how she was unapologetically herself and didn’t dial herself down. Lawddd Kyon was givin BDE and boss vibes the whole book. He was exactly who he thought he was. Kalvin would’ve been overboard messin wit me ! Thinkin he bigger than the problem. I really enjoyed this book 10/10 highly recommend to
I definitely enjoyed this short read. It was cute, entertaining, and got straight to the point. Things did move pretty fast, but I’m guessing that’s because of the history between Laikyn and Kyon. Overall, I enjoyed it all. From the moment they bumped into each other, it was on and popping lol. Their chemistry was instant, and I found myself rooting for them from the beginning. Even though it was a quick read, the story still managed to keep my attention and make me smile. Sometimes you just need a fun, light read that doesn’t drag things I definitely enjoyed this short read. It was cute, so if you’re looking for something sweet, fast-paced, and filled with chemistry, I’d definitely recommend giving this one a try.
Laikyn goes on a cruise with her fiance and runs into her ex, Kyon. Kyon wants to know why she left him and she shows him pictures that were sent to her. The pictures are staged and he wants to know WTH happened. At the same time, he wants his woman back. Laikyn feels like a fool and she regrets accepting her fiancé’s proposal because he is a real jerk and a chauvinist. She breaks it off and gets back with Kyon but she feels guilty for the years they lost. He encourages her to let it go and focus on the future. He doesn’t want to waste their second chance with regrets.
I really enjoyed Kyon and Laikyn’s second-chance love story! ❤️✨ An engagement ruined by outside influences led to years of unanswered questions and heartache. 💔
When fate reunited them on a cruise 🚢🌊, they finally had the opportunity to get the answers they needed and confront their past. Along the way, Laikyn realized her current fiancé was a complete joke 🤦🏽♀️, and both she and Kyon decided to give true love another chance. ❤️🥰
This story was filled with great family bonds, strong friendships, healing, and romance. 💞 I thoroughly enjoyed this book and watching Kyon and Laikyn find their way back to each other! 📚✨💖
Chile, Kami didn’t make me cry this go around but she definitely had me ready to fight !! Eeeeemagine your current fiancé is showing his whole a** on a cruise that HE invited you on! Then you run into the love of your life that you haven’t seen in 3 years on same said cruise, and he still ain’t over you. What would you do? Yeah Laikyn did that too! This was a great read that packed a punch! Kami continues to show why she is an automatic one click author for me!!
This was a good second chance love story. It was short but I enjoyed every moment with this couple and seeing them find each other and work to rekindle their love.
Kalvin was trash and he struck out before they even boarded the cruise ship good. I was glad Laikyn and Kyon crossed paths and were able to get everything out in the open and get back together. The events that led to them being pulled apart were diabolical and I'm not sure Kyon did enough but in the end, he got the last laugh with his new team and didn't end up in jail and still got the girl back.
I'm just glad she found out about Kalvin before she made mistake and married him Then you got Roxy she found out and about her husband but at the same time she found her voice and herself again and hefty divorce settlement I can see her with his other friend..
But cousin China i just enjoyed her spirit she didn't play no games about her cousin but in the end she gotten her happiness with his brother they got their second chance at marriage
Ooh this was so good. And who does love a second chance romance with a sports theme.
Ky and Lai were apart for three years because of his coach and teammates actions. Can you imagine coming from a game that your team lost, to find your person gone and not know why? It was messed up what they did, but in the end everything worked as it should.
Ky and Lai found their happily ever after, became a Super Bowl champion, and a baby girl on the way.
A second chance to love the person that took care of your heart and loved on you!!!… Kalvin was way too much and he was playing with all kinds of fields!!!… I was so happy for Ms Roxie!!!…You never know when someone will show up and change your life!!!… I loved the dynamics btwn Laikyn and Kyon!!!…He was determined to find out why he lost the love of his life, because he wanted her and still loved her!!!…
What a short and sweet story about a love lost and a love returned! Once Kyon laid his eyes back on Liakyn- he immediately went into “apply pressure” mode! I’m so happy it didn’t take long for them to figure it out and fall back in love! I laughed so hard throughout the book! Her cousin was hilarious!! Especially when she talked about the ex… and his lil 🦐 Tears!!!! Good job Kami!
Kami never disappoints and as always I fall in love with the characters. I love love and two beautiful people finding each other again. Even after everything to see these two still loved each other was the best part and even better seeing that all the women were able to get the happiness they deserved.
I see his father wasn't bright either because his son blew an entire deal and woman. I am happy Laikyn listened to the words of a wise driver and her heart. Running into Kyon and clearing the air on the cruise is what they both needed.
This was a wonderful book where women got their life back by ditching the men who were nothing but opportunist.
3.5 for me! Kelvin was such a LAME, my goodness. I actually could not stand him. Just terrible from the jump. Lai running into Kyon was nothing but fate fr! Not a fan of running like Lai did, but I honestly understand it lmao. A simple conversation basically got to the root of the issue. They fell back into step like they never left fr. This was a cute quick read!
I'm not used to Kami giving us such a short read but this pamphlet was so worth the read. Kami never disappoints. Kalvin made me want to throw him overboard. He was such a jerk and acted just like his jerk of a boss. China was too funny and kept me laughing. Kyon had all the BDE abs he loved him some Laikyn. I would love for Roxie to have her own book.
4.5⭐️. This was such short and cute read. Lai and Kyon running into each other was fate. I loved how kyon was not playing about getting his women back. The way they fell back into rhythm was beautiful. I hate Kalvin with everything in and he should have got his a** beat. Overall I really enjoyed this book.
I love a good black love story. I enjoyed the storyline of this book. It wasn’t over the top with unnecessary drama. It had a touch of humor provide by comments made by the character.
The book provides an example on how conniving people can be for their own personal gain. This is a great book to read.
The book was good. Communication can solve a lot of problems. Jealousy can cause a lot of problems. It was sad to see that this happened throughout the book. People who you think have your best interest. Is the one who wants to destroy you. I am glad Ky and Lai found out the truth. They were able to heal and grow. I would recommend the book
I didn’t not finish this book. I just couldn’t. The conversations were so unrealistic and corny. Having a full blown conversation during sex pisses me off lol. Also leaving a relationship without even having a talk with your fiance is just stupid. To go on a trip with a man that’s been treating you like is is just stupid.

I enjoyed S.O.L. It was heartwarming, relatable and funny with good characters. Although I wanted to beat Kalvin.
I was glad that Laikyn and Kyon was able to talk and work out their differences. They belong together! However, I was blown away when Kyon learned who was the cause of their problem. I'm still shaking my head.
I was happy for Laikyn and Kyon and how they love each other again and they both were able to heal! There were some drama filled moments and it was a very good read.
This was another banger. I have to say China had me in tears. I do wished that it was longer, but everything was told nicely in this pamphlet. I didn't feel like it was rushed.
Rocking the boat and crossing the ocean - Laikyn and Kyon got back to themselves after a run in on a cruise. Glad to see Roxy get her groove back because Aaron was a piece of trash right along with Kalvin and his antics. Would love to see what happens with Keonte and China.
