Some people break quietly. You never see it from the outside. But inside, something refuses. Inside, something holds.
You know that feeling. The eleven voices in this collection know it, too. The weight of life when it hasn’t gone the way you wanted. The moment when standing back up takes every bit of energy you have left. The breaking point.
Resolve. Gritty short fiction for resilient readers who still believe in getting back up.
Like the other Palm Branch Publishing anthologies I have read, “Resolve” is inspirational, showing humanity at its best. It is also entertaining to read. Most of the stories show an all-too-faulty person taking the step toward a stronger, better way of being.
I loved the second story, particularly because of the epilogue. This is a true account of how poor boy is framed, and escapes through courage and decency. My second favorite in this collection is how a grandmother tricks one greedy descendant and rewards genuine love.
Each of the ten or so stories is different and worth reading.
This collection of short stories is a wonderful experience. Each story is independent, but each draws the reader in. There is a story for everyone to relate to. I highly recommend this book.
