The Crack Above us was yet another fantastic installment in the Twisted Truths series!! I absolutely adore this series, Elsa Thorne just keeps throwing new ideas and plot twists our way.
This tale involves the retelling of the Villisca Axe murders, with a supernatural twist. Unlike the previous books in this series, I knew nothing about this real life crime going into the book, which I think made it all the more enjoyable! I was shocked, unsettled and creeped out many times throughout this tale and was never left bored. I very much enjoyed this installment and the unique twist it took at the end. Elsa Thorne never fails with her deeply creative retellings of historical crimes.
Another book where you'll be left uncomfortably unsettled with the eerie and horrifying scenes Thorne depicts. Another fantastic installment!

ARC Review of ‘The Crack Above Us’.
Another suspenseful book in this Twisted Truths Series.
This time it is based on the unsolved Villisca axe murders on 1912.
Jeremy and Riley move into a quaint new home, together with their children.
The house looks beautiful, but underneath the new paint and wallpapers, hides the gruesome history of the family that used to live there.
Unexplained phenomenons start happening, and they now have to survive themselves.
The description says it all, this story keeps you flipping the pages, what comes next, who dunnit?
If you love books based on historical facts with a horror twist, then the Twisted Truths Series should be on your TBR.

Horror meets true crime in this book, loosely based on the Villisca axe murder case. Knowing the case, I enjoyed that the story kept true to the details of the case, minus the paranormal/horror bits. The first murder in the book is quite similar to the true case it is based on, although using different names and minor details changed.
I've read the entire series and am really enjoying it. I would have liked to see this book based on another case though, it was similar to another book in the series. This one wasn't quite as gory as others, although I don't mind that, just an observation. Not sure how I feel about the ending. Still a good book and well written.

This was a really great read. From the moment that I started reading, I was hooked. I had to know what was going to happen. No matter what happened, I had to keep reading. This book moves along at a pace that is perfect for the story. It has interesting characters that you want to know and no matter what happens you want to know what makes them tick. This book is a must read, no doubt about it.
