He Was Hood, Rich, And Mine: A Funny Urban Dramedy Romance

Rate this book
Demi Favors is tired.

Tired of being broke. Tired of being underpaid. Tired of men with borrowed ambition and friends who call their shade “honesty.” Her life is full of bills, customer service trauma, and a tired Altima with eyelashes on the headlights.

Then she meets Kavon Bellamy.

Hood. Rich. Fine. Dangerous in a calm way. The kind of man who sends a black SUV, remembers the little things, and makes a woman feel chosen before she even realizes her heart has started listening.

But Kavon does not come alone.

He comes with money, secrets, a messy ex named Rochelle, and a jealous former business partner who wants to drag him back into old drama. And Demi’s best friend Monique? She may not be as happy for Demi as she pretends to be.

When a beautiful birthday dinner turns into public betrayal, Demi has to figure out who is lying, who is using her, and who truly deserves access to her heart.

Funny, messy, emotional, and full of sharp one-liners, He Was Hood, Rich, and Mine is an urban dramedy romance about love, loyalty, fake friends, rich men with complicated pasts, and one woman learning that being chosen feels good—but choosing herself first feels even better.

Perfect for readers who love funny urban romance, messy friendship drama, strong female narrators, Black love, betrayal, and satisfying payback with receipts.

If this author doesn’t get this book to Issa Raye?!

I have NEVER laughed this hard at a book! Indya has the gift! The storyline was easy to follow so,it’s not complicated. However, what makes this book stand out is the humour and wisdom doled out. Lawd I laughed so hard at Demi! So glad the author had her grow into her own and not just a wise cracking one dimensional character. Kavon was calm and methodical. His character was the straight guy while showing that steady care for Demi. And Terrance? Everyone needs a Terrance in their life. This book right here is one I wouldn’t have minded if it had that cliffhanger unexpectedly at the end that typically makes the reader want to cuss the author out!
