"The Last 10 Pounds" is an excellent and easy read, and it also guides toward change and health improvement.

The first 9 chapters are Vic H's story: honest, interesting and motivational. They tell how through consistency and discipline he has achieved physical health and strength, even when facing limitations and difficulties.

The second half of the book explains his personal experiment giving his support information and suggestions.

Vic Holtreman clearly states that he is not a doctor, trainer, or nutrition expert, yet I believe his personal experience and data can help one see how a few simple principles, "caloric awareness, protein intake, resistance training, conditioning, measurement over guess work, consistency over everything," can make a huge difference.

Easy read. Good information. Interesting and motivational.

When it comes to books, there is nothing worse than picking one up to learn something or try and improve yourself and it reads like a phonebook, boring, not insightful, and you put it down feeling like you would have benefitted more not picking up. This book is the exact opposite of that. It reads like you would expect the author to talk, it's punchy, keeps your attention and I kept finding myself agreeing to what he was saying which only proved his points further. I read over 15 pages the first time I picked it up and have told my friends about it. this is a must read.

The Last 10 Pounds is a bare bones honest review of what fitness and health and look like for a man in the second half of life. Mr Holterman’s style of writing is sparse and direct - he doesn’t write flowery, adjective filled prose. He is clear and short in communicating his facts, opinions and concerns. I found this style refreshing and inspiring. I think you will too.

A valuable how-to reference and motivational manual for anyone interested in taking control of their mental and physical wellbeing. Vic Holtreman lays out a path to developing the discipline and accountability necessary to build and maintain a healthy body at any age, regardless of the circumstances most people use as excuses for poor eating habits and lack of exercise. His personal story and honest reflections on what has and has not worked for him on his journey to total body fitness make this a compelling, and more importantly, a highly motivating read. This is a fast-moving overview of Vic’s personal accountability framework that will inspire any reader that is intrigued enough by the book’s title to pick it up and give it a try. Highly recommended for those who want to take control of their lives, try a new approach, chart a different path, and work toward being a better version of themselves. Suggestive but never preachy with hard-earned observations such as this, “Here's the part I didn't understand until I was 63 years old: all that consistency is in service of something bigger than the body. Your body's the receipt. The real payoff is becoming a man who's free to enjoy the life he rebuilt.”
