I am a Reader in the Philosophy of Religion, teaching courses on Islam, Nietzsche, Greek philosophy, and philosophy of religion. I am particularly interested in the interaction between western philosophy and the religious claims made by Islam, which align with my view that philosophy and religion are intertwined.

রয় জ্যাকসন-এর বিখ্যাত কোষগ্রন্থ 'ইজিপ্ট' অবলম্বনে শাহেদ জামানের লেখা এই বইটি বাংলায় প্রাচীন মিশর নিয়ে চর্চা, তথা কৌতূহল নিবৃত্তির পথে এক সার্থক পদক্ষেপ।
প্রাচীন মিশর আমাদের গল্পে, কথায় ঘুরেফিরে আসে। টিনটিনের 'সিগারস অফ দ্য ফারাও' হোক বা সন্তু-কাকাবাবুর 'মিশর রহস্য', কোনান ডয়েলের 'লট নম্বার ২৪৯'-এর বিভীষিকা হোক, বা ফেলুদার অ্যাডভেঞ্চার 'শেয়াল দেবতা রহস্য', পুরোনো মিশর আমাদের মনে একটা দূরাগত হুইসেলের মতো বাজতে থাকে।

চমৎকার প্যাকেজিংই শুধু নয়, একটি ছোট্ট রেফারেন্স বই হিসেবে এটি অত্যন্ত কার্যকরী। তাই বন্ধু ও সহপাঠীদের ইমপ্রেস করতে চাইলে বইটা যথেষ্টই কার্যকরী হবে।
একটি তারা খসালাম স্রেফ বানানের ব্যাপারে প্রকাশকের অমনোযোগী ভাব এবং লেখকের কিঞ্চিৎ কেঠো লেখনীর জন্য। তবে ওসব সত্ত্বেও বইটা সলিড লাগল।
হাতে পেলেই পড়ে ফেলুন।

This book was poorly organized, had a ton of grammar errors, and was generally just poorly written. There are plenty of great books on Egypt out there. Don't waste your time on this one.

Thorough investigation

I enjoyed this book,but found it scholarly in pace,and confusing.I understand that the multiple names for the same thing is bound to be confusing. I certainly could not improve on it ,myself.and slowed excitement deal with the subject. Complexity seems to be dealt with and I learned a great deal about the patience needed for this subject. Enjoy!!!

Useful as a dictionary of gods. It has some more interesting chapters on egyptian history. As a reference book it is good.

Good book giving a great insight in to ancient Egypt and their beliefs and explaining the different roles of the ancient gods.

Spelling mistakes

I found the content of the book very informative. However, I found the spelling mistakes (and errors in grammar) distracting.
