What do. you think about Jesus?
The Bible Companion Book 10 Matthew–John explores the gaps between our view of Christ and who the Bible says He is. A simple one-chapter-a-day format lets you engage with Scripture without the pressure of schedules, homework, or heavy reading loads. Short daily readings and thought-provoking questions connect your story to God's Word. For personal, group, or homeschool Bible study.
After four hundred years of silence, when Israel has nearly given up hope of a messiah, God sends Jesus. The four gospels introduce us to this long-awaited Savior but also chronicle the profound disappointment Jews feel when they realize He has not come to restore their nation. As Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John reveal a Savior who redefines power and love, we discover that our expectations are not too great but too small.

If you are looking for a Bible Study, check out The Bible Companion Book 10 Matthew–John The Gospels by Karen Westbrook Moderow.

One thing I love about Bible studies is when they encourage me to slow down, look beyond the familiar stories, and really think about what God is showing me through His Word. The Bible Companion Book 10: Matthew–John focuses on something I think we can all struggle with at times: seeing Jesus for who He truly is rather than who we expect Him to be.

I appreciate the simple one-chapter-a-day format of this study. Life gets busy, and sometimes it can be difficult to find a Bible study that feels manageable without becoming another item on an already full to-do list. The short daily readings and thought-provoking questions offer an opportunity to spend time in Scripture, reflect on what I’m reading, and consider how it applies to my own life. I also like that the format works for personal study, group discussion, or homeschool use.

What really caught my attention, though, is the idea that our expectations of Jesus may actually be too small. That thought gives me something to reflect on. It’s easy to have our own ideas about how God should work in our lives, especially when we’re praying for something important or waiting for answers. We want to understand His plans, and sometimes we expect Him to work in ways that make sense to us. But God sees so much more than we do.

As we read through Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, we see that Jesus wasn’t the Messiah many people expected. They wanted a Savior who would restore their nation, but Jesus came with a greater purpose. He challenged people’s understanding of power, demonstrated a love unlike anything they had known, and offered salvation that went far beyond their earthly expectations.

I find that reminder especially meaningful in my own walk of faith. How often do I focus on what I think God should do instead of being open to what He wants to teach me? It’s a good reminder that following Jesus means being willing to let go of my own assumptions and trust Him, even when His plans look different from what I imagined.

I also appreciate that this study isn’t just about learning more facts about the Gospels. The questions encourage readers to connect God’s Word with their own experiences and faith. For me, that’s an important part of Bible study. I want to do more than read a passage and move on with my day. I want to take time to consider what it reveals about God and how I can carry that truth with me.

The Bible Companion Book 10: Matthew–John offers a straightforward, approachable way to spend time in God’s Word while taking a closer look at Jesus and examining our own expectations of Him. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a manageable Bible study that encourages personal reflection and a deeper understanding of Christ.

My biggest takeaway from the study’s central message is that Jesus is so much greater than the expectations and limitations we place on Him. I know I need that reminder sometimes. Rather than trying to fit God into my plans, I want to keep learning to trust Him, seek Him through His Word, and remain open to what He wants me to see. After all, we may think we know what we need from Jesus, but He knows our hearts and sees the bigger picture in ways we never could

So if you are looking for a Bible Study, check out The Bible Companion Book 10 Matthew–John The Gospels by Karen Westbrook Moderow.

"The Bible Companion Book 10 Matthew–John the Gospels" by Karen Westbrook Moderow is another wonderful edition to the series. It also has charts and maps to help us learn and know more about what the Bible says. These books of the Bible help us understand and apply Jesus and his teaching more personally to our lives than just reading the Bible. I believe these books can be used more than once because each time you read the Bible you have new insights. These Books also included other verses that enforces what the author is trying to teach us in each book. I like that Karen Moderow adds other Scriptural verses from other parts of the Bible that helps to explain what she is saying as well.

There is a companion thought after each chapter which is really thoughtful questions to help us apply what we learn from each chapter and there is a suggested plan for a small group study.
I would really like a book like this on all the books of the Bible. Which I only need 2 more to have the entire series!

I really recommend that everyone get this book and the rest of the series, I mean how can you go wrong study the Bible. I do want to stress that these books should enrich your study not replace reading The Bible as well.

I was given a complimentary copy from the author and Celebrate Lit and these opinions are my own.

Bible Studies are a HUGE part of my Christian Growth. The Bible Companion Book 10 Matthew–John The Gospels by Karen Westbrook Moderow is the most recent Bible Study that I have had the opportunity to learn from.

I have read quite a few of the Bible Studies in this series, and I can honestly say the series is really strongly Biblically Based and Encouraging. The Gospels are a very important part of the New Testament and I was excited to read through this Study. Each of the 4 Gospels is gone through one book at a time. The study is also very in depth for each of the 4 Gospels, yet it is very easy to understand the Gospels in an easy explained manner. Karen really writes the Bible Study so that New Christians can understand the Gospels thoroughly and also written so that those who want to dig deep into the Gospels can be enriched by the format and study. I was very encouraged through this study and I also felt that the study taught me the Gospels in a new way.

The Bible Studies are comprehensive with the Charts, Maps, and other tools are WONDERFUL asset to this study. I am a very visual person and having the Maps, Timelines, and other tools really helps me comprehend and understand the Study. I HIGHLY recommend this study for anyone who is wanting to Study the Gospels in depth.AMAZING Bible Study!

#CoverLoverBookReview received a review copy of this book. My honest opinions and thoughts—not influenced by anyone.

I’m so impressed with The Bible Companion Series. This 10th book focuses on the four Gospels—Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. These first four books of the New Testament share the life, death, resurrection, and teachings of Jesus Christ, with an emphasis on Jesus as the only way to eternal life.

Each Gospel is broken down into a chapter-a-day format, with a color-coded margin at the top of the page that makes it each book study easy to locate. I love how all the previous companion books lead us to this introduction to Jesus, our Savior. This is where everything changes and the Good News is revealed.

I’ve been working my way through each book in this series, and this one is my favorite because it captures the power and love of our Lord and reveals the Hope we find in Him. If you haven’t started the series from the beginning, this book is still a wonderful place to jump in. It begins the study of the New Testament as the Gospels introduce us to the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. This is a beautiful and encouraging study to return to again and again.

What I think you should know:
The Bible Companion Book 10: Matthew- John The Gospels by Karen Westbrook Moderow is a Bible Study. This Bible study is appropriate for new and mature Christians alike.

What I think about this book:
I am always interested to read and try new Bible studies, however I am often hesitant to recommend many of them to Christian who are new in their faith or just learning. I was so excited to see that this study is friendly enough for a new Christian, but meaty enough for a mature Christian to learn from at the same time. I appreciate all of the research that the author has put into this and how she tied everything together. I think this would be a great way to do a small group Bible study or as a way to do a Bible Study with older students. I received a digital copy of this book, but I feel this would be worth paying for a paper copy if you learn better in that style. I look forward to trying more studies by Moderow.

The Bible Companion Book 10, Matthew - John by Karen Westbrook Moderow is part of the Bible Companion series. This is the first book for the New Testament focuses on the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.

This is a great resource book for those in all stages of their walk with the Lord. The book is written in a way to use it as a daily reading companion or an in-depth devotional. I think this would be a great book for Bible Study groups as well. I appreciate the different graphs that help the reader to understand better the differences or similarities in the Bible. I also appreciate the maps to help understand where things happened. One of the things that stands out the most to me in the book is how nicely the author shows Mary's and Joseph's genealogy that fulfills the Old Testament prophecy of Jesus. I also appreciate the extra resources in the back of the book.

I voluntarily received a complimentary copy of this book, this is my honest review.

If you have not gotten one of these Bible Study books yet, I highly recommend you do. Each study features different books of the Bible. With facts, scriptures and charts this particular one takes us into the New Testament. I am amazed at all the careful research and long hours the author has spent to deliver a study that will help many.

As a seasoned Christian I found nuggets of information I had not seen before. It’s like reading a verse over and over then a light bulb goes off. I love when I receive new revelations that inspire me to understand the Bible better.

This study for me is one I would take my time on. There is no rush to go through it and as you go at your own pace, God will reveal new meanings to scriptures you have not seen before. With the addition of questions and insights provided the reader will enjoy how in-depth the study is.

I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit. The review is my own opinion.

As always, I appreciated the thoughts about each chapter of the Gospels. There are also many tables throughout the book, organizing information; I find those very helpful. There were many little gems of wisdom that I liked. One, in a discussion about the Sermon on the Mount, stated, “…we aren’t to obey as rule keepers but God lovers.” Another quote I appreciated was, “We bump up against God thousands of times every day. He is with us in the sunrise, the air we breathe, the work we do, and the smiles of our loved ones, yet we seldom “touch” Him.” As with all of these books, I like that the author encourages reading an entire chapter from the Bible at a time, and then offers some thoughts about it.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author, and these are my honest thoughts about it.

I love these helpful Bible Companion books, which delve into the Bible and offer clear summaries as they take readers through God’s Word one chapter at a time. The author makes Scripture clear and offers interesting details, background information, and practical applications in life. The books can be used as a resource for Bible study groups and Sunday school classes or for family devotions. I can’t limit myself to one chapter a day as I go through the Bible Companion Book. It is best to read the Bible chapter first before reading the text in the book. Explore God’s truth with these useful handbooks, which also include charts with additional information and connect the different Bible books, such as the four Gospels in this case. The book focuses on Jesus Christ, who is the focus of the Gospels. I received a copy from the author. All opinions are my own.

Karen Westbrook's Bible guide on Matthew to John in the New Testament is wonderful. I thought I knew scripture relatively well, but on just about every page, there has been something to mull over -- often something I never noticed before. I love all the charts and tables. They are easier to understand than prose-style theological explanations. I also love the overall aesthetic of the book -- sort of an abstract, calming theme.
