bEEP BEEEEEP, OUT OF THE WAY, GRANDMA IS HERE TO TELL YOU HER THOUGHTS. "The Rendezvous" by Ella Navy is the kind of book meant for readers looking for recommendations on TikTok or Reels. Its cartoon cover will pull people in with the promise of a high-spice romp, and it *is* that, but, to me, it's also devoid of the deep emotion and substance I crave when reading romance novels. The writing here left a lot to be desired. I felt nothing for Maia (FMC) and Rhodes (MMC). Their chemistry is purely physical, and while I don't mind spice at all, I wanted more significance between them, more passion outside of the bedroom, especially considering they are all in on each other VERY QUICKLY! Am I an old now?? I mean, I know I am, but good lord, I could not stand these two and the conversations they had about the future. It might sound weird, but they kept saying stuff like, "we will handle whatever comes next, together, like we always do," and you know this how?!?! YOU HAVE LITERALLY BEEN TOGETHER FOR MERE *WEEKS.* I kept thinking, what happens when one of your parents dies? What if there is a massive storm and it wipes out Rhodes's family resort? Will one of them leave the other if one of them becomes permanently disabled? What about filing taxes together? These two are so seemingly ill-equipped for life after this book that it took me out of the book while I was reading it! Just what every gal wants to think about when reading a romance novel: the death of a loved one and taxes! This is clearly a "me" type of situation here, as everyone else seems to have loved this book. I get it: it's cute, they are both hot and there is no shortage of spice; he's super rich and will take care of whatever she wants; there's an age gap; her best friend is going to hook up with his brother in the next book; it all comes together in a nice, neat little package. I am getting better at accepting insta-love and insta-lust, but the best stories manage to still find a balance between instant attraction/chemistry and some deeper sort of connection between the characters, and I just didn't get that here... unless, by deeper, you mean how deep he plung3s her while they are doing pilates with a super hot mega-celebrity. I need to go now; I am clearly thinking about this way too hard.

Unfortunately, this one just wasn’t for me. Everything felt a little too much and way too over the top. The instalove was strong, with them jumping into a relationship after knowing each other for barely a week. I just couldn’t get on board with a connection that moved that quickly.
The writing also felt pretty cringey at times, some conversations between Rhodes and Maia were just a little too much. The spicy scenes were another miss for me. Never thought I’d say this, but there was just too much dirty talk. Instead of adding to the spice, it ended up feeling cringey and taking me out of the moment.
I also wasn’t a fan of the daddy kink in this one, which is surprising because it’s usually something I enjoy! I think, for me, it works better when there’s a more significant age gap between the characters. Rhodes is only 32, and without knowing Maia’s exact age, the dynamic just didn’t quite hit the way I wanted it to.
Overall, this was a case of too much of everything for me. The instalove, the writing, and the spice just didn’t work, and unfortunately, I struggled to connect with the story.

Oh my gosh this was a wonderful debut by Ella Navy! It was the sweetest spicy little nugget and I loved every second of it!
Rhodes is the definition of green flag hotness! And Maia is sunshine personified.
I loved the way they communicated and were honest with each other. They were just so fun and HOTTT!
Seriously the way Rhodes could be insanely swoony one second and then filthy and dominating the next....I. Was. Panting! Maia is one lucky woman! I also loved that Rhodes made sure that Maia still spent time with Calista, and always ensured Calista was safe and taken care of.
I absolutely adored Rhodes's family, Calista, and Maia's parents! And I'm very intrigued by Sophia and Rhys and really hope we see them again! The Bates Resort sounds like the coolest place and I can't wait to go back!

Oh my gosh, what a wonderful debut from Ella Navy! The Rendezvous was the sweetest, spiciest little summer romance, and I had SO much fun with Rhodes and Maia.
First of all, Rhodes Bates. THAT MAN. He is the definition of green-flag hotness. He’s thoughtful, protective, completely obsessed with Maia, and somehow manages to be ridiculously sweet one second and filthy and dominating the next. The range, sir. Maia is sunshine personified—sweet and fun with just enough feistiness to keep Rhodes on his toes—and their chemistry was there from the second they met.
I’m a sucker for instalust when it’s done well, and it absolutely worked for me here. There was an immediate pull between Rhodes and Maia, but I loved that their relationship wasn’t built solely around attraction. We actually get to watch them spend the summer together, communicate openly, be honest about what they want, and genuinely enjoy each other. There wasn’t a bunch of unnecessary drama standing in their way, and I appreciated that SO much.
And listen...do not let Rhodes's green flags fool you into thinking this man is tame. Ella Navy came out SWINGING with the spice in her debut. Pleasure dom, Daddy kink, free use, an MMC who is absolutely gone for his woman...YES PLEASE. And the jet ski scene?! I've read a whole lot of romance, and that was definitely a first. The communication and consent throughout their relationship made the hotter moments work even better for me.
But one of my favorite things about Rhodes was how he never tried to monopolize Maia's time. I loved that he encouraged her to spend time with Calista and made sure Calista was safe and taken care of too. It was such a small thing that said so much about the kind of man he was.
The side characters were another huge win. I adored Maia and Calista's friendship, loved Maia's parents, and had so much fun getting to know the Bates family. Rhodes, Weston, and Grant are all so different, and now I NEED to see those other Bates brothers get their HEAs.
And can we talk about Bates Resort?! The lake, the adventure activities, the weekends at the lake house...it gave this book the perfect summer escape feeling. I would happily pack my bags and spend another book—or five—there.

Great characters, a gorgeous lakeside setting, a hero who is completely obsessed, plenty of spice, and a romance that was equal parts sweet and HOTTT. October 23, 2026I was excited to read this. The cover and the tropes had me looking forward to this story, but it was a disappointment.
I try to at least get to the 100-page mark before making any decisions, but the pacing, writing, and characters were just not it.
The characters were flat, the dialogue rushed and simplistic. Their inner thoughts read like TikTok comments, and I felt nothing but lust between Maia and Rhodes.
The setting had so much potential, but the pacing was so rushed we didn’t get anywhere. Why was a spicy moment set in the middle of a group activity on a lake? OPEN WIDE LAKE! If the other participants are not looking, people on the dock can look too!
I’m sad to say this would benefit from a lot more edits, longer chapters, and better pacing.

If you want something fun, SPICY and just a low angst good time - this is the book for you.
Rhodes & Maia are an absolute dream to read. Maia is so sweet but she has a good bit of sass to her which means you get some great banter between them. I love that she comes out of her shell and is super strong in her sexuality with Rhodes.
He never tries to tamp down any part of her and lets her shine through.
Rhodes is like if Tom Welling and Henry Cavill had a baby and made him Canadian. HOT HOT HAWTTTTT!!!
He is protective and the man knows what he wants. He leaves no room for miscommunication - emotionally mature and knows how to have a conversation (honestly that alone will make a girl lose her panties) but then he is an absolute DADDY in the sheets.
The introduction to the found family is soooo freaking good (Grant is my huband....fight me on ) and I cannot WAIT for the rest of this series. What a debut!!!!

Give me a lakeside resort, a summer escape, and an MMC who is completely gone for the FMC from the moment they collide, and I am hooked.
Rhodes and Maia had such an easy, natural chemistry that made this story fly by. Their connection was flirty, fun, and undeniably hot. Watching their relationship grow over the course of the summer was just as satisfying as all the sizzling moments between them.
The resort setting was perfection. Between the lake days, adventure activities, and cozy weekends at the lake house, this book captured everything I love about summer romances. It felt like the ultimate escape.
And don’t let all the sweetness fool you. The spice is absolutely scorching HOT. I've read a lot of romance, but the jet ski scene was definitely a first for me, and I absolutely loved it. Rhodes was all about Maia’s pleasure, he was a consent king, and was utterly obsessed with her. Loved the Daddy kink, it felt so right for these two. Maia was sweet, but sassy and I loved all that for Rhodes. Rhodes was absolute perfection as an MMC, and Maia was the perfect balance of feisty and sweet. Their chemistry jumped off the page, and every spicy moment between them had me panting.
For a debut novel, this was incredibly impressive. Spicy, flirty, emotional, and full of summer vibes, this was such a fun read. I'm already counting down the days until Calista and Weston's story because this book left me wanting more from this world and these characters.

The resort setting was perfection. Between the lake days, adventure activities, and cozy weekends at the lake house, this book captured everything I love about summer romances. It felt like the ultimate escape.
And don’t let all the sweetness fool you. The spice is absolutely scorching HOT. I've read a lot of romance, but the jet ski scene was definitely a first for me, and I absolutely loved it. Rhodes was all about Maia’s pleasure, he was a consent king, and was utterly obsessed with her. Loved the Daddy kink, it felt so right for these two. Maia was sweet, but sassy and I loved all that for Rhodes. Rhodes was absolute perfection as an MMC, and Maia was the perfect balance of feisty and sweet. Their chemistry jumped off the page, and every spicy moment between them had me panting.
For a debut novel, this was incredibly impressive. Spicy, flirty, emotional, and full of summer vibes, this was such a fun read. I'm already counting down the days until Calista and Weston's story because this book left me wanting more from this world and these characters.

If you do not like instalust with a spicy good time then this one isn't for you. Believe me: It was a spicy good time. But if either of those sounds good then this is your book. I have been in a reading slump and not in the mood to read anything. I started this one and finished it basically in one sitting.
You have Maia Quinn that is coming to the Bates Resorts for the summer with her best friend. Not knowing she was going to have a summer romance with one of the Bates Brothers. Rhodes was at the bar when Maia was feeling really good from too many Cosmic Swirl's so he had to walk away. Don't get me wrong I was proud of him for that but it did hurt Maia's feelings thinking he just didn't want her. That was so far from the truth. Believe me he made up for it.
I loved both of their families and I cannot wait for book 2 & 3. I am invested in this author now.

okay ella navy, debut who? what a spicy, sexy good time my girl. holy wow. i literally devoured rhodes and maia! they were everything i could have asked for. like the perfect summer resort romance. i think i loved the instalust of this story so much, because truly i think people should see more of this representation in books because it happens more often than people think. ella literally blew me away with her spice, and just how easy this book was to consume. it was like one of those where you cannot wait to see what they get up to next together.
i loved how much rhodes adored maia. like that man truly would have given her the world if he could. i feel like it was just a moment of i know she is the one, and i’m keeping her.

If the weather is cooling down where you are at and you are missing the summer heat, you will want to check out this spicy summer romance that will warm you right up. Well this spice little book was a complete shock and I freaking ate it up. What a debut, Ella! This was such fun read and I was wishing I could vacation at Bates luxury resort.

My interest was immediately peaked when I seen the beautiful cover art for The Rendezvous by Ella Navy and I took a chance signing up for the ARC. Boy am I glad I did!! From the very first chapter my attention was grabbed and the whole book had me on a chokehold. Rhodes and Maia were an instalove/ instalust couple who had a meet cute introduction during a club scene. When fate grants them another introduction the next day and in different scenarios around the resort Maia and Rhodes give in to their attraction and it was so hot. 🥵 🔥 The chemistry between these two was off the charts during the whole story. The pacing of the story flowed very well and it left me wanting more of Maia and Rhodes. The length was perfect and the side characters of Maias’ best friend and Rhodes’ brothers just added so much. Ella!!!! You naughty, naughty girl you! I went into this not knowing what the heck to expect but hawt dayum… I was absolutely not prepared for THAT! You had me ready to drain every last penny from my bank account, book a one way trip to a luxury resort, hunt down myself a Bates brother, sign up for jet ski lessons, and let him peel off every dang bikini I own…ps: I own A LOT of bikinis 🤭😂

A fast-burn, insta-love vacation romance. Maia comes to the resort for an extended vacation and meets Rhodes, head of fitness and part owner of the resort. Rhodes is the man you all but hope to meet when you are single and on vacation. He knows how to treat a girl like she deserves. Rhodes and Maia are so cute with their flirting. And they have serious bedroom chemistry. The story is an easy read, no angst, lots of spice. A great vacation read. I liked the set up of meeting the Bates Brothers. I'm looking forward to Westons story and completely intrigued with Grant.
