What the heck was that
I'm so mad at myself for almost finishing this book. This was a complete waste of time. The author needed to put more time into World building and explain what was going on more. The whole Weaver thing was very hard to understand what was going on. What was up with the necklace that she was wearing I don't understand that part at all. And the whole Jammer part at the very end I thought it was a machine Jammer but I don't think that's what it was. So I have actually no idea what was supposed to be happening there. I think this author could become a great author but she needs to spend more time on World building and explaining the world better about what's going on too.
**Also I would note that most of the reviews on here as of July 17 2026 are obviously from Arc readers some of them don't even know what actually happened in the book.**

Hang on you might want to get comfortable you won’t be moving until the last page has been turned. Sera was sweet but spent her life feeling like a problem in her pack, they didn’t want her there in fact they would rather pretend she never existed, a rejected, no wolf, single mother being blamed to accept a traitor’s control or her pack would exile her, and her child to a place they would sure die which was their ultimate goal. Kael sexy as all get out alpha with a reputation proceeding him of being dangerous, ruthless, feared by most so most packs give him a wide path to walk because his rage isn’t something they want to face and he when he comes into a pack walking out with the one person the pack wishes to disregard no one stops him. The is a connection but she senses there is more to why he took her but the more she is around him, under his protection, safe but she also learned about her history, her mother’s history and her power also, what comes with waking up that power. She learns that she isn’t the week nobody her pack wanted her to believe she isn’t just a mother but a women who knows her power and Kael learns that he can be a partner who is devoted, honest but will they both see that there is actually a choice in choosing, some secrets needed protecting by the right people, will her pack try coming after her, will her mate protect her keeping her safe, and can they find happiness somewhere along the way?

Triumph over adversity, a Krista Lark recurring theme
Triumphing over adversity is a Krista Lark theme, It's a theme that I thoroughly enjoy in books, so I like reading her books. They're fast paced, interesting, with well developed characters And while they're never going to be keepers. And probably never going to get to a 5 star rating from me. They're worth the time to read and I have enjoyed the three I have read so far.
There were some descriptions that were a bit repetitive and some scenes that were very repetitive to the point that it pulled me out of the immersion of the book and made me feel like wait a minute did I read this already. This made me consider giving it 3 1⁄2 stars if that were possible I did make that clear in a previous review for other books as well. There is no reason to be so repetitive in Descriptions as there are Tools to prevent that such as A thesaurus

A very intricate plot involving Sera and Kael - each from different packs that had met previously but she left him while he was sleeping. Two years later he saves her from an impending punishment and brings her back to his pack.
Their chemistry is intense, but the relationship evolves slowly on both their parts. They must fight an underlying coup where a rival pack wants to kidnap and control Sera because of her hidden powers.
There is a person internal to Kael's pack that betrays them. This person is shady from the beginning once Sera moves to in and I identified her immediately. I was also leaning towards another person as well but I'm happy to say that person was not a traitor.
I happy that Kael and company were able to win the war, dispose of all traitors, and bring peace back.

This book was very interesting and kept my attention throughout. The FMC has hidden depths that can be somewhat difficult to understand. The MMC is cold and calculating with everyone but the FMC. They had a one night stand and produced a baby girl. He finds them and does everything he can to keep them safe. A war is coming and they need to be ready. Also he has a secret in the North Tower. I highly recommend this book to all paranormal romance readers.

Sera had a daughter but not mated but her father was making her marry Jace the one who helped a different alpha take over the pack. She had a night with Aria’s father then left they met at a bar during the alpha trials hadn’t asked for his name. Kael was looking for her because they were mates she had left because she was wolfless her mother died before telling her what she was a powerful witch. He found her before she could be exiled, and chose that over mating Jace. Kael and Sera worked things out.

Wish I could give it 5 stars, but…
Unfortunately this book suffered in two ways. First, the lack of correct punctuation throughout is highly distracting. Especially relating to the use of question marks. Second (and far worse), there is a repeated scene - almost word for word regarding an archivist character’s espionage. It is beyond annoying to read the same scene twice, but here we are.
Overall, I enjoyed the story. I would have enjoyed it more if these issues were resolved.

These characters have unique personalities, complicated histories, and believable interactions. This amazing story has the following: she left him in the middle of the night, she was framed and was sentenced, he saves/claims her, surprises, intrigue, twists, turns, suspense and HEA.

Overall, I liked the story, but it really needs the work of a good editor. My minimum requirement is that the author learns how to use punctuation. Has he ever heard of a question mark??? How many times did I have to reread a sentence or paragraph, fill in the question marks myself, and only then did it make sense? Also, one passage (almost an entire chapter) appears twice.
Overall, good potential, good story, but the quality of the writing leaves a lot to be desired.

This book pulled me in completely after chapter one! The fated mates connection is handled with an intense, slow-burn tension that kept me hooked. The characters are wonderfully complex, and the secret baby trope adds a brilliant layer of stakes and depth to the shifter romance. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a gripping, emotional alpha romance that keeps you turning the pages!.
