Chirurgeon: A Mercenary Progression Fantasy Adventure
One second I had my hands inside a dying man in a Pittsburgh trauma bay. The next, the patient was a woman, the wound was a halberd through the thigh and the bracer on my wrist told me the save had just leveled my Triage to two.
I had six years in the ER and two tours as an Army medic before that. But this new world sorts its magic into divine and profane and nothing else. The problem is, mine is neither and just keeps leveling. It's turning a trauma nurse into the one thing a mercenary company on a death-contract can't afford to the man who drags you back from the wound that was supposed to kill you.
So they keep me close. And three of them keep me closer. One holds the line alone, calls me hers in front of the whole company, and breaks fingers when men forget it. The other decided I was hers the first time she watched me work, and tracks every rival like a hawk. And the last barely speaks, reaches the bodies first, and those who get too close to me have a way of turning up among them.
We're hunting an apostate who carves travelers into a working that won't let them die. And the Witch Hunters on his trail burn whole villages just to be sure, then turn on anything they don't understand. Like me.
Every wound I close levels me higher. And by the time the Chantry, the Colleges, and the Hunters can agree on a name for what I'm becoming, the three who've claimed me will have made damn sure it's too late to stop me.

Oddly difficult to parse
I am going to preface this by saying I read a lot of fantasy and sci-fi, too much honestly. I read at least 3-4 hours a day on the low end. So believe me when I say this is kinda hard to read. Setting aside some of the more archaic medieval terms, the way sentences are structured is odd. It doesnt help that the author is stingy with descriptions and lore. Also, the summery of the story promises magic, but aside from the MC's system style stat sheet and Scriver's oddness there isnt any by chapter 13th. We also havent gotten an explanation or even theory on why/how "visitors" (isekai) show up. Our MC just rolls with everything and doesnt follow up with many questions. The sudden, immediate interest by all three of the mercenary group's women is not adequately explained either. Is the MC attractive? Are visitors seen as exotic and desirable? Who knows. I was able to fall back on a lot of similar stories and read between the lines but but chaoter 13 I just gave up.

Unreadable . I spend 20 minutes on one page trying to
Understand what was written. The premise seems good but the author needs an editor. It seems the author was maybe trying a Dashiell Hammett detective style of speaking , it didn’t work .

Only one negative
I get that the naration and the main character thinks and speaks alike. I understand. But the repetitiveness of the language does make the other characters feel like they are just the same person in a different skin. ... and... and... and... .
A narration like that is fine, it brings personality to a book, but when you have all the cast talk in that manner, it makes the overall dialogue dull. Its like reading from the same head. It should almost be in first person at this point.
I get it, because I think like that, especially when my mind begins to run. However, I also recognize the fact that others dont think, let alone talk, in the same manner as I think.
Still a 4 for the story itself. But I am inlikely to reread it, like many of my 5s are. If this was my first of this author, then fine, but so far all of your books speak the same, in that and and and manner.

Just Stop
5 stars for the idea, -4 stars for using over descriptive AI to write the story. I'm describing this in a way of a man who's convictions of describing describe things.
